Tadase's phone has been flashing for a while now. Apparently Kukai sent him a message at some point in the previous evening, asking if he can meet him somewhere about something very important.
It's a tribute to Kukai's patience that there's only two more messages to Tadase since, the second stating that he's going to sleep, the third stating that he's awake now, and still needs to talk to Tadase.
Tadase always, always answers his phone for important business! Tadase just sometimes forgets to charge his phone, and thus sometimes misses important business. It's a small reminder that the people who protect the world are often times also still just regular people, regular teenagers. But in the morning when he turns his phone back on and sees the text, the response is immediate, telling Kukai he can come over right now.
Kukai is, by this point, up and showered and ready to face the day, so he's at Tadase's place after about 15-20 minutes, knocking on the front door politely.
He looks well-rested, like he slept very well, but like he's got something on his mind and is trying to be patient about it. At least, as patient as Kukai ever gets. When Tadase greets him at the door Kukai grins and waves. "Hey Tadase. How're you?"
Tadase smiles and ushers him in, and Kiseki's floating over his shoulder, equally happy to see Daichi, but in that way that a king is where he's trying really hard not to be blatant about it.
"I'm doing good. Still messes everywhere, but smaller messes, I think. Smaller problems than the Witch Apocalypse or the... other Witch Apocalypse." he says.
Daichi, of course, doesn't really care about that sort of thing. He hugs his Chara buddy and is laughing and happy and active.
Kukai grins at Tadase. "You'd think we'd get lucky and there'd be a good witch in there somewheres. I guess not, though." He sighs and looks around inside the house, something obviously on his mind that he's trying to put together the words for. "Where can we talk? Something's come up and I need some information if you have it."
Tadase walks with Kukai into his room (where Kiseki promptly finds his throne and sits on it... before deciding to go play with Daichi anyways.) and nods. "Well, if anything, I think things are looking up for us overall, lately. Rough spots, but brighter than it was." he says. "And we're going to make it brighter still. But I'll save my speeches around you - I think you've heard em' all by now." he says with a bit of a laugh.
"But what's on your mind, Kukai?"
"Multiple times, Tadase-san." Kukai hmms, rubbing his head and closing the door behind them. "...OK. I seem to remember that I mentioned her in my February report, but do you know a Miss White? It's come to my attention that I have a bone to pick with her."
He sighs. "I can explain further if you want, but the long and short of it is that I need to talk about getting something back from her. Maybe with soccer balls. You know I don't like to fight with anybody, but this is important."
Tadase nods solemnly for a bit. "Yeah, I've... had to have a conversation or two with people about her because of that incident." he says, quickly picking up on Kukai's trail. "You aren't the only one. She's gone too far this time. Even Tsukasa was shocked... and he is not an easy guy to shock." he says, but there's no humor in his voice about it.
"...That young girl's egg, right?"
Kukai nods. "Sachiko Hayakawa. It's a long story, but let's just say she's become important to me over the past couple of weeks. I intend to get that heart's egg back if I have to go through her to get it. The thing is, I don't know where to go to find her. So.."
Kukai motions to Tadase. "What do you know about her? Where can I find her and all that? I know she works for Eclipse - I've seen her all of once, at the funeral party after Walpurgisnacht - but beyond that I dunno anything about her. You sound like you know something, though." Kukai is in a very rare mood, Tadase can tell - his 'all justice, no funny business' mode.
Tadase leans over. "I've been trying to figure out. Not just where she is, because taking out vengance on her - that's not our thing. But I want to know where she took that egg. She didn't seem to be looking for the Embryo... she seemed to want the egg itself." he says, quietly.
"So I'm thinking that means we can maybe find out where the egg is and get it back. She certainly didn't seem to be... disposing of it like Ikuto claims to be." he continues. "I'm worried if we play our hand too early we'll miss out on something big."
Kukai frowns. "I know, Tadase. But I don't have the pleasure of waiting for her to make the egg pop up somewhere. Sachi-chan is... disturbed, already. And without her dreams she's suicidal. I've never seen anyone affected by losing their heart's egg like this."
He stands up, pacing back and forth, obviously impatient but not excessively overwrought just yet. "If we can find the egg and not deal with her, that'd be great, but I cannot let her get away with this. I don't even care about the gun or wand or whatever she was supposed to have used - I just..."
He sighs. "Sachiko is gonna lie in bed and not eat and waste away if she doesn't get her crazy dreams back. Even worse, she might decide to hop off her balcony or something. Usually losing a heart's egg just makes someone sort of grey and monotonous. Her dreams were all she was living for." Kukai looks over at Tadase for a moment. "And I'm not willing to sacrifice her for whatever 'big thing' may or may not be coming down the pipe, Tadase."
Tadase looks at Kukai, and listens. And he listens to his entire speech, with very real, true, nonfake concern in his eyes. Especially about Sachiko. "I tried to bolster her but it's like it didn't have any affect... I guess I'm not as good at that as Amu-chan." he says. Then he thinks.
"Okay, lets find the egg. Forget about whatever else we can get out of it. I'll pull whatever I have to, to see if we can find it. And if we can't..."
"I'll see if I get someone to punch the information out of 'Miss White' if it's not wherever she is. I'm sure a little explaining to Amu-chan would do it. Or Jupiter-san. Maybe both." he says, shifting rather quickly to stand by his friend, rather than whoever else had a 'plan'. "I owe you a lot... for that thing with Mamoru, for Walpurgisnacht. For... a lot of things. I'm there with you on this."
Kukai grins and then moves over to Tadase, grinning and putting a hand on his shoulder, squeezing it in thanks. "Thank you. And about Miss White - I can talk to her if nobody else is free. I think we sort of got along at the party, but I haven't seen her since then and I'm distant enough from her that if something does come up I don't mind yelling at her."
Kukai shakes his head. "Man you don't owe me anything. I'm here to help you with your dreams and that means I'm here to help you with the other crazy things that happen. But thank you." He bounces a little on the heels of his feet, stepping back. "I was kinda hoping I'd be able to just go see her... now... but if I gotta wait, I guess I gotta wait." The look on his face describes what he thinks about 'waiting', though.
Tadase shakes his head. "I can tell how important this is to you. If you think you can fix it now, then... I'll go right away and see what leads we have, and you can give it a try." he says, nodding once, firmly. "And if talking doesn't work... I'll call everyone I can to make sure that the next time she doesn't get the option to avoid doing the right thing."
Kukai grins. Finally, a plan. "OK! Text me if you find out where she's at. I'm gonna go out and patrol some, see if I get lucky and run into her. Crazier things have happened. And thank you again. I'm sure Sachi-chan will thank you too when you meet her."
He stops at the door. "We got a bunch of things to talk about at some point too, Tadase, but right now..." He points at the door. "I gotta roll. Hope to hear from you soon! Daichi, we're heading out!" Daichi, who's been playing and talking to Kiseki, blinks and hops up, waving goodbye to Kiseki and Tadase both, and joins Kukai at the door!
