Swing

Sachiko and Norie talk on the swings about liars and monsters. In the end, Norie manipulates Sachiko into a foolish idea.

With Spring coming quickly to Japan, King Penguin Park has become a popular place once again. By day, the park is quite busy, as people come to enjoy the many attractions. But the closer it gets to night, the fewer and fewer remain.

One young girl is here all alone--or seemingly so anyways. Sitting on the swings all by herself, the girl is dressed in a brown lolita-style dress and white tights, arms wrapped around the chains. The swing is barely moving, back and forth, as the girl stares at the sand beneath her pink and black sneakers.

Sachiko Hayakawa is a melancholy girl by nature, although something about her seems somewhat less sad today than usual. She might even be smiling. No, that must just be a trick.
Lacrima 2016-04-11 05:11:33 37959
Norie Okana on the other end of the spectrum, Norie is not 'naturally' sad, melancholoy and depressed, but for the past eight months she'd been that. Shunning important people in her life. Withdrawing into her room almost all hours of the day.

Then something changed recently.

She's been... weirdly pleasent. Almost pointedly so. This also, is not a natural state. There's that certain maliciousness behind it-- it's one thing to find joy in things, it's another to find joy in things one should find disgust or sadness in.

Her parents don't know wether to be glad or more concerned. They want to blame her brother and thier son for forgetting her on the trip to cause something to snap inside- so they did. This caused more issues.

Regardless, Norie has found herself out and about in penguin park. Then her eyes traced over to Sachiko... Then she bit her lip a moment-- before giving a pointed, almost toothy smile. She walked over to the swing set and sat down in the swing next to Sachiko. She had time. She had a lot of time. When she got back from the dusk zone-- she /had/ to eat again of coruse after that horrible purifying light that bathed her that night--- but things had become... easier? Easier. Since she started taking the voice's advice.

"Hello, Sachi-chan~" she finally speaks. "It's....."

"Nice..." she says.

"To see you." she says pointedly.
Sachiko Hayakawa 2016-04-11 05:16:26 37960
Sachiko looks up when the vampire comes to join her on the swings. She studies Norie quietly, but doesn't say anything. After a few moments of silence she looks away. Of course, that's when Norie decides to say hello.

"Hello, Norie-senpai," she mumbles quietly, not looking up to her. "You look happier than last time I saw you," says the little girl quietly. Of course, so does she. "Did you figure out how to stop being a monster?"
Lacrima 2016-04-11 05:23:53 37961
Norie Okana does indeed, look a little happier. She smiles. It's not quite a happy one. It's pointed. It's wrong. It's probably a good thing Sachiko is looking away. "Something like that. Perhaps the exact opposite!" she says with a glint to her eyes.

If there was still a conciense here- it'd probably be telling Norie to ask Sachiko what's wrong. She still does notice the change of mood. It's more curiosity than anything why she asks.

"Oh my~" she says. "You sound a little quiet. Did you learn something you didn't like?~" she asks.

"Or did something else happen?~" she asks, gripping the chains of the swing.
Sachiko Hayakawa 2016-04-11 05:25:34 37962
"Hmm?" Sachiko asks, looking up confusedly. "No ... well maybe," she admits with a frown. "All the big kids are liars," she notes rather matter-of-factly. "Momo-chan is the only one who doesn't lie to me. You lied to me, too," she points out with a frown. "But I guess you're a big kid, and that's what big kids do. But when I'm a big kid, I'm not gonna be a liar."
Lacrima 2016-04-11 05:31:32 37963
Norie Okana asks. "Lie? About what now?" she asks as she purses her lips. She doesn't sound accusatory, or taken a-back. "Momo-chan?" she asks, not familiar with the name. She's heard some of the others. "I'm afraid a lot before the other day is rather fuzzy for me you see!" she says softly.

"It's much easier for me to think without two voices playing tug of war in my head~" she practically sings out~
Sachiko Hayakawa 2016-04-11 05:41:32 37964
"Momo-chan is my best friend," Sachiko explains very proudly. "She cheers me up when I'm sad, and cuddles me when I'm crying. There's no one in the world better than Momo-chan, and she never, ever lies to me." She smiles at Norie, not really seeming to understand what the vampire is saying about herself.

"Momo-chan even tried to teach me how to play a dancing game at the arcade," Sachiko says thoughtfully. "And she got to watch me do a real pirouette for the first time, only that was in a dream, but I still did it all by myself! Howcome you've got voices in your head?"
Lacrima 2016-04-11 05:47:17 37965
Norie Okana flutters her eyelashes, perhaps for emphasis more than anything. "I see. She sounds very....important to you..." she says in a manner that suggests she doesn't really know what she's saying but it seems the right thing to say-- a little bit like she used to- but it's missing that awkward stammer-- that unsurendness it used to have.

Like she's just filling a sentence with what Sachiko expects to hear.

"In a dream? Odd." she says more pointedly. Also.. odd, says the vampire talking about voices in her head.

"Well you see." she says softly.

"It used to be I'd be listening to 'Norie' and 'Lacrima' at the same time. One telling me one thing, the other- another!" she says honestly.

"Now I realize it was awfully silly of me to think I could be Norie truly ever again." she says with a mock pout. Like she's not particularly torn up about it--- but may be a little. It's hard to tell. Everything just seem so... disingenious now coming from her. Not like before--- where it was obvious she was tryign to say /something/ right.

"I can manage my energy levels better now!~" she says- obviously more proud suddenly. "It's nice. To not need to desperatly hunt /all/ the time. Of course. I still need to." she says, another mock pout.
Sachiko Hayakawa 2016-04-11 05:50:53 37966
Sachiko looks at Norie confusedly, head tilted as if she's really not sure what to say. For a long moment she doesn't say anything. Eventually, though, she admits, "I ... don't know what that means. I thought your name was Norie, Norie-senpai. Who is Lacrima? Is that the name of the voice in your head?"
Lacrima 2016-04-11 05:57:39 37968
Norie Okana smiles. "That's the name of the monster." she says politely. "The vampire. What my power named me." she says, with a pout. "It means 'tears' in spanish." she says softly. "I guess it still is rather sad. I'll never be human again, won't I?" she asks softly.

"Norie is just a tool-- another name." she says. Something in her tone seems to make her sting herself when she says this- like it's a fact she hates to belive in-- but must. Like an adult lamenting in going to work. It's just a reality, one way or another.

"Don't get me wrong. I /used/ to be Norie. Not anymore. That changed." she says softly.

"You can still call me Norie of course." she says. "Really..maybe it doesn't matter what you call me in the end." she says.
Sachiko Hayakawa 2016-04-11 06:01:15 37969
Sachiko considers Norie for another few moments, hesitantly. Again, she doesn't really say anything, right away. But she does seem deeply in thought. After a few moments, Sachiko frowns, then says, "I think it's sad if you're not Norie anymore. Do you want to be Norie again? Or do you just want to be a vampire forever?"
Lacrima 2016-04-11 06:07:43 37970
Norie Okana has to think on that--- her lips purse, that oddly pleasent demeanor sinks. Her mind seems to churn. "I don't know." she says silently. "I'd like to be. Maybe." she says. "But that's a silly goal.. isn't it? Something you can't have anymore?" she says.

"Someone hit me with something amazing you see!" she says a bit wide eyed. "And for a moment--I felt human again!" she says. Then she grows cold. "Then it burned like fire. And I could feel parts of me strip away--like I was filled with smoke." she says. "--and I had to go to this dark place I'm lightly familiar with as the place I move through when I teleport in shadows." she says softly.

"And it was horrible because that place is lonely and cold. It was nice to get back out. Of course.... when I came down off the feeding high." she pouts. "I hope that's the last time I'm like that." she says placing a finger to her bottom lip a bit.

"It's so unpleasent."
Sachiko Hayakawa 2016-04-11 06:10:46 37971
"I could make a wish for it," Sachiko says quietly, thoughtfully. "The Kyubey says I can wish for anything I want, and he'll make it happen. But then I have to be a magical girl." She frowns in thought, then says, "But I dunno if I want to make a wish for someone who lies to me. But ... but no one should be so lonely and cold. That sounds awful. You should be happy," Sachiko says.

"That's why I decided to be a dancer," Sachiko says quietly, smiling. "I used to think I wanted to do it for An-chi, so she can smile and be proud of me to see me dance. But now I decided that since I don't think I'm ever going to get to see An-chi again, now I just want to dance so I can make other people happy. If I can make someone point up at me and go 'Wow, she's so pretty, I want to be like her!' then I'll be very happy."
Lacrima 2016-04-11 06:17:31 37972
A wish. For her? What a... what a..

Waste.

"What a waste." she says as such. "Shouldn't you wish for something for yourself? That'd be much better. Wouldn't it?" she asks softly.

She squints. "You still not have told me what I've lied about, but it doesn't matter much to me~ I was lying to myself, after all~" she says- that tone returning.

She frowns. "Dancing." she says.

"I don't think I can return to that." she admits.

"To be honest. I'm still worried about hurting those close to me." she admits.
Sachiko Hayakawa 2016-04-11 06:24:31 37973
"You lied to me about draining other people," Sachiko says, frowning at Norie. "You said you'd only drain my energy and then you wouldn't have to drain anyone else. But then I caught you draining other people. So you lied," Sachiko says.

"If you were a real girl," Sachiko points out, "you could dance again. Maybe we could dance together." She pauses and considers that a moment, then says, "Actually we could probably still dance together, as long as you don't drain me while we're dancing. That would be fun," she says with a smile. "You're big enough you could probably lift me li ke a boy is supposed to. And then we could dance together."
Lacrima 2016-04-11 06:31:45 37974
Norie Okana frowns. "I thought I could! But I could not." she says. "That's just how it is." she says. "I was a fool, to think I could keep this----" she motions. "Form up all the time. I know better now." she says softly.

"I have about two hours left for today-- then I should head home and rest properly." she says.

She purses her lips. "We'll see. and I'm not making a promise I know I can't keep, Sachi-chan~" she says softly.

"You see, you 'taste' good." she says. "It was foolish of me to drain you in the first place. You weren't actually a magical girl. Just a normal girl. Apparently, that energy is-- simply the 'best'." she says softly.
Sachiko Hayakawa 2016-04-11 06:36:03 37975
"I taste good?" Sacchiko asks, squinting her head. "That sounds ..." she trails off, then blushes a little and looks away. Again she falls quiet, chewing on her lip for a moment. Then she turns back to Norie and asks, "Does everyone who's not a magical girl taste good? Or ..." she trails off, then squints her eyes. "Or is it just me?"
Lacrima 2016-04-11 06:40:05 37976
Norie Okana pouts. "I've made it a point to not drain little kids." she says softly. "I try to keep to people my own age, or older." she says. "Call it a point of some 'honor' I guess." she says.

"But apparently younger people 'taste' better. Taste is---" she says.

"Subjective here. It's more a tingly, 'feel good feeling' than say-- tasting sweet or sour in the sense of 'food'." she says. "It makes me feel better than draining any of the others I mentioned." she says.

"I don't expect you to understand this. It's a different sensation than actually 'tasting' with your mouth or tounge." she insists.
Sachiko Hayakawa 2016-04-11 06:46:38 37977
Sachiko definitely doesn't seem to understand. She just looks confused, and then shakes her head. "That's weeeeeeird," she tells Norie with a wrinkle of her nose. Then she pauses and considers for a moment. "Hey, if you haven't tasted any other little kids, how do you know it's little kids and not just me?" she asks curiously.

Sachiko opens her mouth to make a suggestion, but then realises what she's said. "Err. Not that you should find out I guess. That'd be bad, then you'd have to drain a little kid! I don't want you to do that."
Lacrima 2016-04-11 06:51:23 37978
Norie Okana purses her lips. "Call it a hunch. No, I'd still not rather drain little kids." she says with a crooked smile. It's weird. Seeing her smile, after seeming so down and depressed--- even if her smiles are weird and off. Like something trying to pretend to smile.

She does however remove her hand from the chain of the swing.

"In fact..." she says.

"How about a little bite right now, hrm?~" she asks. "Not that I need to send you spiraling into sleep tonight~"

"Just for my own amusement~" she insists. "Enjoyment even!" she insists.

She sounds insistful, urging-- but not urgent.
Sachiko Hayakawa 2016-04-11 06:53:45 37979
"..." Sachiko opens her mouth to say something, then grimaces and leans away from Norie uncertainly. "I don't think I should let you," she notes quietly. "I thought you weren't gonna drain little kids. Or do I not count as a little kid because you already drained me a few times?" she asks.
Lacrima 2016-04-11 07:13:37 37980
Norie Okana tsks and lowers her hand and hops off the swing with a short little jump. "For someone that worries about liars so much... you sure had no problem telling me you were a magical girl~" she says in a pointed way that is obviously meant to make Sachiko feel bad.

"Perhaps another time." she says dissapointedly.

She begins to walk away. Not slowly. Not fast. Just walk. Perhaps it's time for her to go home!?
Sachiko Hayakawa 2016-04-11 07:17:06 37981
There's a small squeak from Sachiko at the response from Norie. Her green eyes widen, and she hops up out of the swing, then stands very still. "B...but ..." she starts to say, then whimpers. What can she say? Norie's right. She did say she was a magical girl.

On the other hand, "I thought I was one," she mumbles quietly. "I didn't know any other magical girls except Greta-chan. And ... and she said I was special."

Sachiko's lip begins to quiver, and she starts following Norie. "I didn't mean to lie. Please don't be mad at me, Norie-senpai. You can ... you can drain me if you want. But ... but what do I get from it? Will you dance with me, first?"
Lacrima 2016-04-11 07:23:38 37982
Norie Okana stops a moment--- but only after smiling to herself. Part of her is pleased for the manipulation she just did. Well--- not part, all of it, really. This is not a thing she'd had done before. She'd just left quietly maybe after a meek 'goodbye'.

Or maybe just try to take and not ask. Like an animal.

"Dancing? Perhaps. Just this once. But then when I'm ready-- well..."

"I won't leave you breathless, in any case~" she says.
Sachiko Hayakawa 2016-04-11 07:27:42 37983
There is a long moment of indecision from the cinnamon-haired girl. She glances down at her dress, smoothes it out, then admits, "I just ... don't want you to be mad at me." She makes a soft noise of uncertainty, then says, "And ... and I wanna see how you dance. Because you said you used to go to the same place I go and none of the other girls there like me. So ... so it'd be nice to dance with someone who likes me."
Lacrima 2016-04-11 07:33:51 37984
Norie Okana purses her lips and smirks. "It's been nearly a year since I've danced. Give or take a few months." she says. "Not tonight. Soon. We'll dance soon. Then I'll take what I want then~" she says softly. "Besides. This..." she motions. "Grass is horrible. When do you go to dance class next. We can do it after the rest of the class leaves~" she says just a little sing songily tease-like.

"Like when we met the first time." she says softly.

She pauses.

"At least I think it was the first time." she says.

"Was it?" she asks.
Sachiko Hayakawa 2016-04-11 07:39:57 37986
Sachiko perks up at Norie's response. Sure, she might have wanted to dance, now, but this whole idea strikes her as far better. "Okay," she says, smiling happily. She bounds up onto her toes once, twice, then says, "Okay! I'l make sure to wait for you," she promises.

"But you gotta wear tights and a leotard, like a real dancer." Sachiko bounds after Norie to get near her, then says, "Then we can dance, and I'll bring some music, and then you can drain me, and we can both be happy!"

Sachiko leans up and gives Norie a very sudden hug, then says, "Be safe, Norie-senpai. I'll see you at dance class." Then she turns and starts to run away, and the moment she hits the concrete she leans back on her heels allowing her Heelys to take her away faster. Strange, how happy the little girl can be even though she's just promised to be food for a vampire.
