The hospital room is quiet and bright, charming and warm. Mitakihara General is good about taking care of its patients and making things bright and cheerful for the sick and injured. This is no different for Kukai Souma's room in the afternoon.
Another man, attractive and tall, in a blue and dark blue lined jacket and white tshirt, with grey pants, and blonde hair done up in a ronin's topknot is sitting in the room, reading a magazine, as he looks over every so often at the sleeping, unconscious Kukai, who has a bandage around his head and shoulder, and another under his robe under the sheets, going from his left shoulder down under the covers. Multiple contusions and bruises and smaller bandages are wrapped all over him as well.
It didnt take long for Utau to learn of Kukai's situation and current condition after Mikoto had alerted her via text. Although she had been spending a lot of time lately with Nori, stalking criminals and relieving some stress, she had not given up entirely on Kukai, and had quickly dropped everything to come see him at the hospital.
No doubt, Norie had come along with her as they were together at the time when she had discovered the news.
And so, she had arrived rather breathless to the hospital, clearly worried about his condition, and when she finally finds his room, her face is a bit red with all the running. Hey, hospitals are mazes afterall, and Mitakihara General is a pretty big hospital!
Before stepping in the room, she had cautionned Nori to keep a low profile, although with any luck, the vampire girl had already fed for the night. Once that was dealt with, she bursts into the room, glancing around, looking more worried than she means to.
"Kukai?! Where is he?"
Norie Okana has come along with Utau, she jogged along but is not red in the face. Or breathing hard. This is really creepy on a lot of levels probably. THough when one doesn't need to breathe or really have something like 'blood' anymore, it's hard to sort of be red in the face or be out of breath.
She crosses her arms as she follows behind Utau and froooowns a bit.
"The jerk got himself really hurt this time I bet!" she frowns.
The tone is more concerned than upset it seems. Typical caring but uncaring statements!
Also yes two girls just showed up for Kukai.
The brother is probably gonna eat this all up.
The man in the chair looks up as the two girls burst into the room and arches an eyebrow, grinning slightly. "Hey, now, calm down. He's right here. He's not exactly in the best shape to talk though." He looks over at the unconscious Kukai, who looks as if he'd been put through a wall. Which, to be honest, he had.
He doesn't seem to notice the little Chara sitting besides Kukai's head, who looks over at Utau and Norie and goes stiff, scared for the sake of his Bearer. The blonde man doesn't seem to be noticing him - is he not able to? He raises a hand and stands, looking at the two girls. "I'm Unkai Souma, Kukai's older brother."
Unkai rests one arm inside his jacket, looking at the two of them and grinning. "Why hasn't Kukai ever brought either of you two home for a visit?" He looks at the two of them for a moment, then nods. "He's just over here, if you want to say hello."
Of course, Iru and Eru are here as well. When they spot Daichi, Iru just glares at him, looking ready to punch him in the face. But Eru smiles happily and flies towards him, hugging him tightly, "Daichi-kun! It's been sooo long! I missed you!"
Utau stares long and hard at Kukai, paling at the sorry sight of him. He looks..Terrible, honestly, and she wishes she had been there to stop this insanity. "Kukai..." She murmurs with a tired sigh, flopping down in the chair next to him.
Glancing up at the person who is apparently his big brother, she frowns softly, "Maybe you should ask him that. It's been a little...Complicated, between us. I am Utau Hoshina, and this is my friend, Norie Okana.."
She nods towards Norie as the vampire girl enters, but unlike Daichi, she doesn't seem nervous about having the Vampire girl around, afterall she has come to trust her, and she knows she wouldn't intentionally hurt Kukai. If things became desperate, Utau would probably just let her feed off of herself again.
"Unkai-san..What happened to him? Is he going to be okay..?"
Norie Okana doesn't want to hurt people. She's 'full' right now. She has no desire to want to feed off Kukai or his brother. There's no instincts to 'eat the weak' here. At least not yet. She purses her lips at Unaki and hrms. "I'm not sure." she says to his request. "Yes, I'm Norie Okana. Hello." she says. "What happened? I heard something about a--- diner... explosion?" she asks.
"I watch the news." she watches a lot of things- she has time.
She walks over toward's Kukai and then leans down to Daichi, and whispers. "Daichi. What happened exactly?" she asks in a whisper. This probably looks really weird from the brother's angle. Is she whispering things to an unconcious Kukai!?
Luckily she's keeping it nice and low.
Luckily, Utau can see she's trying to talk to Daichi so hopefully Utau will cover for her if the brother notices!
Daichi looks exhausted, in that way people look exhausted when they sleep but don't rest. He reaches up and hugs Eru listlessly, squeezing her, then looks up at Norie. "Kukai found out where Miss White might've been keeping the X-Eggs. He sent out a call and only one girl we don't really know showed up, and then he got into a fight with Miss White and her friends. He kicked some balls through the WPS building, but then for a second he got distracted, listening to her yelling and talking, but her friends took the chance to attack and.. he landed in the diner, which hurt a bunch, but then the gas main exploded and.." Daichi shivers, holding himself. "It knocked us apart and knocked him out. He was so hurt for a second..."
Unkai shrugs, looking over at Kukai. "Kukai was apparently just walking down the street and the diner blew up. There weren't any cameras pointed at it - all of them were either pointed away or destroyed in the explosion. Horrible case of bad luck."
Unkai continues after a moment. "The doctor said he'd either come out of being unconscious in the first few days or.. longer. But his brain activity looked fine and nothing major was broken except for a rib fracture. He got torn up, though - long slice from shoulder to thigh, bunch of cuts and bruises and things. It could've been worse." Daichi looks up at the two of them for a second. "It was worse. It was everything Kukai and I could do to save him."
Unkai looks at the two girls in their pretty, uncommon outfits, then pulls out a camera. "You mind if I take a picture? We're taking photographs of everyone who comes to visit for Kukai when he wakes up. Do you mind?"
Eru's eyes widen in surprise when Daichi explains what really happened. "What!? But..But, why would he think that WPS was keeping X-eggs? But that's silly! She was testing out a device to steal X-eggs for Easter, like Utau-chan explained to him before. Didn't he believe her?"
"Idiot!!!" Iru growls, punching and kicking the air. She'd probably punch the lights out of Daichi too, if Eru wasnt hovering protectively around him. "Why didnt he listen to Utau-chan? He just wanted to play hero again..Serves him right!"
Utau pricks an ear, listenning intently to what Daichi says, and of course it doesnt match up with what Unkai says. Naturally, that means it was mahou-business. She hangs her head, sighing. "I see." after a moment's thought, she reaches out, clutching his hand, squeezing it gently.
"Why didnt you trust me?" she murmurs softly, wondering how very differently this scenario would have gone had he been awake. Would she even have come to see him? Dammit, Kukai, she's gonna have to yell at him whenever he does wake up! Idiot!
Then Unkai makes a request and she frowns softly, "W-what? Why? I dunno, it's kind of weird.."
Norie Okana listens to Unkai. A Miss White? Stealing an X-egg? Terms not really familiar to her. Regardless, she frowns- however, getting the gist of it. It wasn't an explosion, Kukai just got his butt royally beat when he tried to pick a fight with someone more beefier and with more friends.
That seemed... silly. To her.
Not that she's say it loudly. She looked back to Utau, making sure she heard all that, maybe Utau can make better sense of it than she can.
She frowns to Utau, a little, a little unsaid 'he isn't worth worrying over' look there, but she doesn't say it, because her eyes and looking over to Unkai. She blinks a bit.
"If it'll help, I don't see.... why not." she says silently. But Utau seems so hesitant. Why!?
Unkai shrugs. "Not really. The doctor said it might help him to recover when he wakes up to see people he knows, so we've all been taking pictures of the people who're coming to see him." He raises his phone up and takes a quick picture of the two girls, then pockets it again. "So how do you two know Kukai anyway? He doesn't talk a lot about his friends and his life outside of the house." Unkai looks over at Kukai for a moment. "It can be hard for us to listen though, sometimes." He sits back down in his chair.
Daichi leans against Eru, eyes closed, then looks back at Kukai, who is still out cold and unresponsive. "I think he'll be ok, but I dunno how long it'll take him to wake up. I hope not long..."
To be honest, she's not even sure she should be here. Maybe he saw her as the enemy now, maybe he had a girlfriend now and she was just making a fool of herself. There were many reasons why she didnt want him to know she had dropped by, and only one good reason why she should. She sighs.
"Oh..Alright. I guess you can take a photo of me as well. Just..Dont expect me to smile, or anything." And he's already pulled out the camera and taken the shot anyway. Utau never really smiles much, and it's not different here, although she does try to smile a little. For Kukai.
" Oh..And I have this.." She pulls out a shopping bag, with a 'Get Well' card in it, and a music album with her name across it, complete with her own, personal autograph. By now, Unkai may just realize who she is. Utau sets both the music album and the card on the bedside table. "Norie-chan, I forgot to give this to you to. You can both sign it if you want, I'll just leave it on his bedside table.."
Did she go too far? Maybe she shouldn't have got the CD as a gift, but it's something..Maybe it'll make things a little less tense between them, when he does wake up? The message that she wrote in it is short but sweet, maybe?
'I was worried, get better soon. I missed you'
She glances quietly at Norie as she gives her that look and she just shrugs helplessly. In such as situation, how can she not worry? How can she just forget about him, inspite of how hard she's been trying?
"Um...It's a..Long story, really. We just kinda..Bumped into each other, a lot. And hung out a few times. He once mentionned he had brothers. Guess I figured he'd introduce me to you guys, eventually, but...." But 'things' happened..
Utau looks out the window quietly, hugging her arms. She really shouldn't be here..
Iru catches Norie's expression and nods with a fanged grin, "He's sooo not worth it! Norie-chan! You need to distract her more! Make her forget about him! He's such a jeeeeerk!"
"That's not fair! They're just confused! They need to make amends! Utau, you need to watch over him, and be there when he wakes up!" counters Eru, as she continues to comfort Daichi with cuddles. "Don't worry, Daichi-kun! Eru at least will watch over him, til he gets better! We'll play Utau's music, it'll soothe him and reach him, wherever he is!"
Norie Okana looks to the CD questioningly and seems to think a bit. She remembers when she was in the hospital eight months back. Everyone was worried about her and no one knew what was wrong and she was hooked into so many machines-- then she got better suddenly.
It was like a godsend.
Except it was actually a curse.
She shakes her head and frowns. Should she be worried? Ugh.
She doesn't know. She'd never had to worry about someone in the hospital before- and when she doesn't have a basis for the feeling. She gets confused.
So she settles on what she thinks make the most sense. She writes. "Get Well Soon - Norie' underneath Utau's message and softly looks over to Unkai.
"I am just a...."
"Aquanitence of your brother. I don't think he'd ever have reason to introduce me to you." she says softly.
That makes the most sense. Why would Kukai wanna introduce the energy eater to his family anyways!?
Unkai shrugs. "Not a lot of smiling to do right now anyways." He takes the bag and looks into it, and one eyebrow aarches. "Huh. That's you? I don't keep up with idols, so..." He chuckles. "And don't worry. We'll make him introduce us after all this is past."
Unkai reaches over, putting a hand on Utau's shoulder. "He'll be ok. I just know it. You don't have to be so scared, ok?" He looks over to Norie and shrugs. "If you say so."
Daichi stands up and nods. "I know the music will help if they let his brothers play it. And... everything'll be ok." He looks hopeful, defiant, but still exhausted...
Utau glances back at Unkai thoughtfully, her gaze softenning, nodding slightly, "Yes, that's me. This is a special edition of my most recent album, with some never released songs. I hope it will soothe him and bring him back to us faster. But I guess he really needs the rest so his body can heal itself. He's quite fortunate to have brothers like you to watch over him.."
It makes her miss her brother all the more. "Thank you, for your words. I'm sure you're right. It's just a little scary, seeing him like this. I hope there is no permanent damage.."
But perhaps she worried too much. First Ikuto, and now this? What if he wakes up and doesnt even remember her..? Utau bites her lip, looking away. "Yes. I would like to meet your other brothers, and the rest of your family. And maybe some day, he can meet my..Family too. Has anyone else come to visit him..?"
While Utau worries over Kukai, Iru just silently glares at him, glancing curiously at Norie. "I think she cares too much about him.." she makes a face, "But hanging out with you has made her feel better. He probably did all of this for attention!"
Eru glares back at Iru, "Iru! You're terrible! Cant you see he's hurt? He was just trying to do the right thing and stop an evil from hurting others!" She glances at Daichi, "Hey, let's play the music now! Music's known to have healing properties..And he has said he likes her music."
Norie Okana softly makes a neutral expression at Iru. She softly gives a soft nod and whispers. "I guess... I can remember how that feels. Not really. I admit. But. Maybe. I can imagine. If I think." she whispers.
She looks back up to Utau and nods comfortingly, as best she can, a series of soft matter of fact nods. She looks over to Kukai's brother. "A moment." she says.
She takes the CD out of it's case and walks over to a player in the hospital. CDs-- she squints at it. She can see her reflection in the silver on the back. She merely places it into the player and closes it up and presses play.
"There." she says turning around, though, saying it at Dachi as she does so.
"Utau. Are you going to be...."
"Okay?" she asks softly to Utau as helpfully as she can. Her tone is entirely deadpan though. Ugh.
Unkai huhs, looking at the two of them again. Any girl who'd spend time with someone famous like Utau is probably as famous as she is in some way or another, and Kukai is friends with them? "The doctor said that his body is fine, if all busted up. His mind is just what's turned off for right now. After he's able to rest, he should come back to us." Unkai grins. "Oh, you'd like to meet the rest? Interesting." He considers her, before looking over at Norie. "Make sure it's kinda quiet - there's people in the other rooms nearby that it might bother."
Daichi sighs and then glares at Iru. "Attention? He nearly.. We nearly..." He shivers again, and then shifts, burrowing in against Kukai's side, eyes closing, as the music from the CD quietly plays through the room...
Utau looks silently over at Norie. She should consider herself lucky. She doesn't have many friends, but she's really starting to like and trust Norie, because she understands her like few others ever could. "I will be fine.
Thank you, Norie-chan.." Utau looks down at Kukai, a gentle expression in her eyes, squeezing his hand gently one more time before letting go. "Please...Be okay.." She murmurs, as she rises from her chair, and finally walks over to Norie, leaning over to hug her. "Thank you, for coming here, and being there for me. I know he was wrong about you. Maybe someday you two can make amends too.."
Glancing at her watch, Utau picks up her purse and heads for the door, pausing only briefly, "Unkai-san..It was nice to meet you. I need to get going. Please watch over him and let me know when he wakes up.."
Finally she glances towards Iru and Eru wordlessly. But only Iru rushes after Utau, hopping on her shoulder, waving and smirking at the others. Eru refuses to leave, intent on comforting Daichi and watching over Kukai like a guardian angel. Iru is shot an angry glare. "Iru, that's enough! Kukai-kun would NEVER do that for attention..He has a kind heart, and was trying to free where he believed the X-eggs were..." She looks to Utau, shaknig her head. "Eru will let you know when he wakes up, Utau-chan! We'll watch over him til then!"
The CD is played, and the first song that plays causes her to blush a bit. It's a sweet, and beautiful song of the heart, the first song she ever sang:
~The dream bud flourishes and looks up at the bright sky,

I lowered my head in embarrassment,

Utau quickly leaves the room, shutting the door quietly behind her.
