Things to do a Sunday. Go to school.
Wait, what!? Yes. Go to school. Reiko's in school on a sunday are you surprised? Aboulstely no one is. To be fair, she isn't here for purely academic reasons, she's here to setup things for an art display and she needed help!
So she called Hoshi for help. She needed help placing up large sheets of paper on a bulletin board and someone to hold the ladder as she got up and began sketching a rough outline of what appeared to be some sort of mountainous landscape.
She's spent a half hour on this before she climbs down from the ladder and whews. "Thanks for helping me Hoshi, I'm there's lots of other things you'd rather be doing, but... ugh! I have to get this done and I've been putting it off." she wilts.
She looks up and down the hall back and forth. "Remember this hallway, when we were in this grade Hoshi?" she giggles. "I wonder if anyone finally erased that thing I drew inside my locker..." she says softly tapping her chin. "No one should had trusted me with a big fat marker!" she insists.
She walks along and looks to the door. "...I wonder if Heise-sensei is still in the same room..." she says as she grabs the door handle and squeeeeaks it open, poking her head in curiously to peek around.
"I do." Hoshi is quiet today, for some reason. It's unusual, but she's helping out and is there for her friend. Which is what matters, right? "If they haven't gotten rid of it yet they should just replace the locker. I don't think they'd be able to clean it out after this long." She stands back while Reiko looks.
It is a lovely day in Mr.Heise's class. Outside the sky's are a dull sickly sort of grey with that heavy cloud covering that blots out the sun leaving the world almost that little bit more depressing then it should be with such nice warm breezes moving through the outside world.
Though they look almost like rainclouds for the moment they seem contented simply to hang there depressing and almost slightly ominous in their nature. Inside of the classroom itself Mr.Heise sets quietly singing a slow soft tune to himself while idly grading papers with that off white almost grey pen. The man himself is somewhat overweight wearing a pair of old style thick rimmed glasses which seem to have been tapped together multiple times. Even though he may be a teacher there is still something naturally friendly about the rather reserved man, a sort of aura emanating from him in spite of his unnaturally pitch black eyes and matching shaggy hair.
The pen in his hands isn't even more of the modern grading pen either but a simple dip pen. Off to one side that iconic dull grey ink of his sat for refilling. At first he doesn't seem to give much notice the mans slowly receding hairline visible more so from this angle then his usual teaching position.
Reiko Touyama did not, infact, expect to see anyone in the classroom when she opened the door. She expected to see an empty classroom! Well, that answers her question of 'does he still teach in the same room'.
"Oh!" she says in surprise. But by the time she's caught herself she's already been too loud enough to warrant attention- so she doesn't suddenly duck back behind the door. Instead she opens it.
"...Aahaha--s--sorry, Heise-sensi!" she says softly. "I'm here um. Doing the display on behalf of the art club! Um...Hoshi.. come on..." she says motioning her in.
"I wanted to see the old classroom and try to figure out if you were still teaching in it! I guess um. That answers...."
Awkward pause. "My question." the orange haired girl says.
The blonde girl bows politely to Kuro. "Nice to see you again Heise-sensei." She lets Reiko be awkward, doing nothing to step in. She herself is the very picture of grace and good breeding. "I hope you are doing well?" She doesn't step into the classroom, not without an invite, that'd be rude.
"Ah," The mans calm singing stops as he looks up towards his former students giving a polite nod. "Reiko-san, Hoshi-san, come in. I would never turn away former students." A short pause as he sits the dip pen off to one side on its proper tray the actual papers seemingly piled a bit higher then they were back in the day but then again he is grading on a Sunday."It is good to see you both in good health."
A small smile on his face barely more then a smirk the usual reserved nature of their former teacher shining through as always. "I have done my best to work with the gifts life has given me, so I would say I am doing well." Very polite in his speaking even as he adjusts the papers off to one side in order to move them slightly out of the way. The pictures of his family which had been setting on his desk back when the two had been students oddly absent from the surface of the rather spartan arrangement. "Are you both succeeding in your studies?"
Reiko Touyama gives a bright smile! "I'm glad to hear everything is well then, Heise-sensei!" she says. She is... nowhere as formal as she looks over to Hoshi who is so calm and graceful and not at as super exicted as she is and she calms down because she kind of wants to be that graceful. Super graceful.. yeaaaah. ~_~
She shakes off her own inner thoughts a moment. Does she notice anything amiss about the desk?
Nope.
"Oh! Um, I'm doing well in school! As always!" she says. Indeed, Reiko is many things. Quiet. Bouts of weird rambunctionuness intersped, but she's also a pretty good student who seems to enjoy school.
Mainly because it's better than being at home with Grandpa and reminding her that her parents are never home!
"I'm glad we're back in. The semester break always stinks. It's too long." she insists.
"My results are satisfactory." Hoshi says politely, it's also true. Hoshi is never top of the class, but always top ten percent. Through hard work and excellent tutors instead of raw talent and love of learning, but results are results. She notices the absence of pictures, but doesn't mention it.
"Wonderful! I may not be your teacher anymore but I would certainly like to take some small credit for all of my students." Offered with a bit of a joking smile, as he looks towards the two. He's still rather reserved but at least he's trying to make sure they're not completely uncomfortable talking to him. "If you're that against it we do have classes for making up your grade during the break, if you ever wanted to take time out and try to improve your standing even further. Your grades are important if you want to make it into a good school." He comments one hand reaching under his desk for a moment just to grab back a small grey apple from his desk. "I hope you don't mind if I have this, I was actually about to go on my lunch break when you got here."
Making it to a good school.
Like how her parents keep wanting her to go to Infinity. Ugh. She has to deal with that again later this week. The letter will come in. 'You've passed the entrance test with flying colors. Again. The parents will whine at her. She'll be upset because she wants to stay at Seishou with her friends....
She shakes her head. "I'll consider those classes next time, Sensei!" she insists.
She shakes her head and 'ohs!'. "Um... if you'd rather go to lunch! I'm sorry! But..you're fine. Eating that." she says. Wait gray apple? You know what. She doesn't wanna question this. She looks to Hoshi with a smile.
"It's that stupid time of year again you know. When I have to argue with my parents again." she wilts as she looks back to Heise-sensei. "Parent's keep wanting me to go to Infinity University. I keep saying no." she mutters. "Want keep with my friends though..." she admits.
"My dad says any student good enough to get into Infinity is good enough they don't need Infinity. I believe him." Hoshi says softly in response to Reiko's troubles, smiling faintly. It's good to know her friends are smart, but she glances at the apple with mild surprise. She knows better than to mention it.
"If you are happy remaining with your friends and it doesn't hurt your education that is all that matters." Heise offers with a smile, tossing the apple into the air for a moment before catching it back in his h- it hits the floor... he'd been trying to impress them and the apple just missed completely. It lands on the floor rolling off away leaving the teacher speechless for a moment.
"I- I don't think that should be a problem, I usually just eat here in class when I'm grading on the weekends. Tends to be more peaceful." He looks down at the apple with a bit of disappointment in himself. The confidence is gone as fast as it had been there any hope of trying to be a 'cool' teacher just as faded as it was when the two were students. The man many things but 'suave' 'cool' or even well coordinated weren't on the list.
Reiko Touyama ohs and quickly goes to pick-up the apple and place it back on the desk for Heise-sensi. All smiles with that bouncy orange hair. Reiko doens't particularly care if her teachers are 'cool', just as long as they're fair and not misgrading her and none have ever done that, if Reiko's failed-- well, it's been her own darn fault!
"Oops!" she says. "Here, Heise-sensei! Ummm..." she kind of rubs it against the sleve of her jacket before handing it back. It's clean now, right!?
"There." she says with a soft matter of fact nod.
"Yeah! That's what I keep telling my parents but..." she wilts.
It's not like her parents actually care. Ugh. They'll never give up.
"Do you need me to go to the cafeteria and get you a new apple?" she suddenly asks meekly.
The overweight man offers a genuine light smile, he doesn't show teeth but it's still reassuring in nature as he takes the apple just setting it back onto the edge of his desk. "Oh that's fine, I wasn't hungry anyway." A little white lie said with a bit of a friendly tone. "Reiko-san, believe me when I say that while it may not seem like it at times the most important thing in the world to any parent if they realize it or not is their child."
"It is something you may not understand now, but they are just looking for what is best for you." He pauses for a moment trying to think of a good way to disinfect that apple without making it obvious. The thing was on the floor after all. "Eventually they may see reason, or they may continue to ask until you have already moved on to higher institutions of learning, but I think in time they will see the light."
Reiko Touyama totally rubbed her sleeve over it, it's golden and clean by twelve year old standards!
Okay so it still kind of would need run under water but still! Reiko softly sighs and shakes her head. "I dunno if I can belive that." she admits softly. With all her parents put her through. "But... I guess your right." she says with a shrug. That's what her grandpa keeps telling her anyways as she looks back to the door and the hallway. Hoshi had to take off.
A politician's daughter has a lot to worry about afterall!
She looks back to Heise-sensei and says with a sigh. "I should get back to drawing the board display and finishing that part up so I can finish the rest tommrow." she says softly.
"Is that okay Heise-sensei?" she asks softly, not wantign to just cut and run, so to talk! That's rude!
With little more then a nod and a motion towards the door the ageing teacher simply motions off towards the door. A light bow of acknledgment at the request, and another smile.
