Sunday, noon, by all accounts a relatively peaceful day. At least in some parts of the city. While there might be /things/ going on in other parts of the city for those who deal with such things, Eilam? He had booked a whole day with a well-known hair stylist to do something different with his hair. That, and he'd booked them for the day, so he'd also taken liberty to invite Reiko to come along and get whatever done if she even wanted anything done at no real cost to her.
There were perks to having well-off companions at times. Especially those who are seemingly willing to dote for no other reason than they can.
The morning had largely passed and as of the moment, Eilam was sitting quietly in a little outdoor patio seat at the fancy hair salon. Nearby his belongings were leaning against a corner and he, himself, just sat in the salon seat tiredly with his eyes mostly closed, cell phone held in his hands beneath the gown he had over his body to keep him clean. His long hair was currently in the process of being lightly bleached for the colors to settle in, a copious amount of foam and foil wraps in his hair and largely making him look like a tinfoil-covered leftover dish. Just... biding time until the process actually bleached out his hair. One of the few things about him that /could/ change about him. Small things.
Reiko Touyama doesn't really have a lot she wants to change about herself that can't be changed by a mere salon trip. That being said---- she looks up at her orange-colored bangs which /are/ getting a little long. Usually, she has grandpa cut her hair. Grandpa's good with a pair of clippers--- and while money isn't an issue for her- it's nice to have it done at home by someone you love.
So she's seated next to Eilam in a similar chair as she's waiting her turn for what is effectivly just a haircut.
She seems to be having second thoughts about something though, as she purses her lips and seems to trace... something through her hair. She seems to be looking at pictures of people with 'streaks' of color in thier hair in a magazine and seems to be ponderiing this now...
But what even color would she go with...?
"What goes good with Orange... mightaswell be asking what rhymes with it..." she mutters.
Jiaying Maki isn't here at the same time as the other two intentionally, but it was a good day for her to go get her hair cleaned up and maybe changed a bit. She's gotten a bit shaggy, a bit long and a bit tangled. She swears she brushes regularly though! Usually. Not lately. What, bandages hurt, sharp things hurt, she's taking it lazy.
She stops when she sees two familiar faces while looking around , having shown up a touch early for her appointment. She starts to raise her arm in her usual waving greeting, stops and instead says, "Heya!" to the two.
The stylist who was busy cleaning up the mess associated with applying bleaching products and all that had finally tidied up to their content and stepped out the door to look over the two, reaching to take one of the foils and pull it apart a little before pressing it back together and look towards Reiko. "Even if you want a new look, no reason to change a lot. Lights and Darks, variation, you can do a lot with a single color." And then back just inside to start mixing up the colors associated with Eilams remake that he'd decided on.
"Hopefully it is not too boring for you, Miss Touyama?" Eilam said, not quite opening his eyes at the moment as he just kind of seemed to be having one of his tired days. Though Jiayings voice caused him to open his eyes enough to look around, then roughly towards the sound of her voice. "Coincidence... or did Reiko invite you?" He couldn't recall inviting her. Maybe he did. Low energy day.
Reiko Touyama thinks.. "Maybe a red streak... or... maybe.. my bangs highlighted." she purses her lips. "I mean. Just thinking." she blushes at Eilam. "Red's my best friend afterall!" she beams wide with a coy grin. She thinks. "Maybe on my right side...." she says.
She nods to the stylist. "Still deciding!" she insists.
She looks up at Jiaying and blinks. "Oh! Hi!" she says softly.
"Mmmhmmm? No I didn't invite her, but still, hello!" she says with a smile as she thinks a bit.
"What do you think Jiaying.... red streak or red highlights..." she says.
Jiaying Maki looks vaguely confused as they gather back and forth about inviting her. She looks down at herself, behind herself, then back at the two and says a bit huffy, "It's the weekend and I needed my hair done. Are you really that surprised to see me trying?" She doesn't sound too upset really. There's even a laugh and a smile after like she might have been joking!
Still, after taking a moment to check in, she finds herself seated near them and settles down in the seat, watching the pink haired one getting some kind of dye thing done and the other... is probably doing the same. She hesitates a moment and says, "Red would look nice" clearly having heard some of the conversation and trying to just go with it.
"Just found it a little strange is all, Miss Fox, that in all of this city you happen to come across us here. Though I suppose this is close enough to where I first met you that it is not /too/ off to think you might get your hair done in this salon. I suppose some part of me thought you might prefer a more traditional stylist from your country?" A yawn was interspersed in somewhere during what he said before mumbling something about 'unavoiadbly tired' and kind of closing his eyes again. If one listened, there was a soft sound playing from around Eilam's lap, the cell phone he had there playing something. Some kind of piano music, a soundtrack of some form or another likely.
Reiko Touyama finally, /finally/ decides, she's gonna get the streak, mmhmm! Her parents are gonna freak. Her grandpa is gonna think it looks pretty and she smiles. "I'm going to get a streak I think. Not very big. But a deep red..." she thinks as she nods matter of factly as she beams.
She'll beam a bit as she head tilts.
She peeks at Jiaying and smiles. "Everyone needs to do thier hair once in a while, I think." she says softly. She smiles and then thinks, she leans over and whispers so the stylist can't hear.
"Do you need to get your tail done too?" she asks.
Jiaying Maki scowls at both of them as one calls her a fox and the other asks about her tail. Should the stylist be around at the question about said tail she'd say, "That's a mean joke and you know it.." acting like it's the kind people might actually have. She sticks her tongue out and settles back in the chair to look through the different styles available. Peeking over should the stylist get distracted though, she says quietly, "I just brush it at night. It sheds." and hopes it wasn't overheard.
She gestures to Eilam and asks, "What color is he going? I mean.. pink seems like it would be a little easier than green or orange to coordinate with right? Or harder..." She peeks up at her bangs, considers quietly and asks, "None of us have easy to mess with hair colors. That's kind of funny isn't it?" Well, red's not as bad, but bright orange can be. She flips a page and asks a bit less jokingly, "What would you think if I went really short hair? Like.. almost boyish?"
"Short? Boyish?" Eliam says softly, "I prefer long hair myself, I find it more attractive, but to each their own. Hair and gender hardly matters. Pink was a mens color until the 40's and all. And as for my hair... do you find me girlish?" Well, he wasn't the /most/ masculine, but hardly feminine either. Just a fair mix of prettyboy. "And I have given my stylist an idea, but I am leaving it up to them the specifics. Silly to pay for quality and tell them what to do, right?"
Said stylist was busy pouring dyes and mixing such and looking rather thoughtful in the next room over, a rather large assortment of them it seems. "I did ask for many colors, though, soft, bright, happy."
Reiko Touyama smiles. "You look good in shortish hair." she says softly. "I like mine long...."
Then Eilam says he likes long hair.
Thennnn she blushes. Yup. Staying long forever.
She'll wait her turn with the stylist as she leans back in the chair and still flips through the magazine as she grins wordlessly at Jiaying about the tail brushing.
Yes, Reiko has stupid questions.
Also, on a nearby table of magazines there's a koi on a tiny chair with one of those hairdomes over it's head and it seems to be reading a tiny magazine called 'KoiWeekly'. The pages seem blank.
Reiko merely blinks once at this before looking back at Jiaying with a shrug.
Jiaying Maki watches Eilam and says, "I am going to be sparring and doing other things once I've stopped aching so I was thinking long hair would be frustrating even if it is cute." She reaches back and pulls her hair in a ponytail and flips it around a few times while saying, "Though I guess maybe just a tight braid or maybe hiding it under a cap would be nice."
Still, she offers Reiko a smile and says, "It will be even shorter and I'm kind of worried about that. I can't remember my hair ever being shorter than this." The look on Reiko's face has her a touch worried though and she asks, "What/" before glancing over her shoulder at the koi doing things to which she murmurs, "Your soap fish are still amusing."
Eilam's stylist steps out and looks to Eilam, noticing he looked tired, and then turned her attention to Reiko. "Let me wash the bleaching agents out of his hair and get him set up, then we can get your stuff done. Did you decide? I know you wanted a trim, but beyond that? Unless you are going lighter, I can easily enough dye, and it will give him a chance to maybe be less sleepy."
Pushing himseleef upright, Eilam carefully started to walk towards the interior of the salon room towards one of the hair washing booths, sitting down again with a sigh and still looking like his exhaustion was creeping back up to him steadily. Though to be fair both Reiko and Jiaying were aware of his condition and curse, both for separate reasons, but did they realize or even care the other might know?
Reiko Touyama smiles at the stylist. "I want a trim and a red streak...right side... sort of crescent shape..." she smiles. "That sound fine?" she asks softly as she smiles.
She looks down to Jiaying and blinks back at the koi.... who licks thier fin and turns a page of the magazine. Reiko purses her lips. She looks at Jiaying. "Short hair might look good on you though." she says. "But.. maybe a little long in the back?" she asks
She turns her attention back to the koi. "Wanna make bets about what kind of hairstyle it comes out with?" she asks Jiaying.
Jiaying Maki watches Reiko quietly for a moment, then the fish. Then Reiko and she asks, "Don't they go off of what you're thinking?" as she turns the page as well, then scowls. A quick shake of her head and she says, "Maybe... a tight short braid would look nice. I could maybe do a bob too. I'm guessing your fish ends up with the same red streak? Or do I need more?"
To Eilam, she watches him quietly and calls out, "I would think taking a nap in a stylist chair would be super uncomfortable Eilam. Join in, talk some more and we'll try to help right?"
Reiko Touyama head tilts. "Something like that." she says at Jiaying. "But I can't control them. I bet it's something goofy. Like a mohawk." she says softly with a grin. She head tilts. "I don't think my fish will be 'red', they're pretty plainly orange only." she says. She smiles a bit and grins. "But who knows~" she says as she leans back in the chair with a smile.
She looks over to Eilam. "I'm wondering how his hair is gonna turn out...." she says softly.
