It's the 25th of July, right in the middle of a proper roasting Japanese summer. School has been out for nearly a week and the stress of exams is over. For Puella Magi who have been hunting Wraiths the stress of being continually low on magic is also over, at least as far as actual survival goes, even if the Wraiths are themselves a little troubling.
Today is significant for an entirely other reason, however. It was six months ago today that Homura and Madoka started dating and that makes this a milestone in their romantic relationship. Considering how much they enjoy spending time with one another of course they're going to do something fun. Many potential plans were discussed, but rather than going in a single date they've come to a private resort on one of Japan's lovely beaches, and a fancy exclusive one at that. Which means the beach is quietly populated rather than packed full of people and there are as many amenities as one could possibly want.
Early in the day Madoka had gone to the resorts spa and gotten her hair and nails done along with one of those face mask treatments- her face sure looked silly when it was green! It was a nice relaxing indulgence, but it also serves a purpose, because now she's looking her absolute best as she walks out on the beach with Homura! Her bangs have been trimmed up her hair is down, and right now before wind, sand, and water have gotten to it's looking extra fluffy, without having turned into a wild mess, while remaining soft to the touch and very easy to run ones fingers through. She's already decided she's going to buy the fancy hairbrush they used.
Madoka is wearing a light and breezy pink sundress over the bikini she wore at the beach party she hosted in June. The swimsuit is partially visible under the light dress as intended beachwear design, and it's also held on by a pair of thin straps that rest next to the ones for her swimsuit on her shoulders. Cheery tropical music plays at a muted volume despite the fact this isn't the tropics, and an open circular hut with a mock thatch roof serves as the kitchen for an open air restaurant on the beach itself, complete with a bar and grill, tables and chairs set out nearby.
As she heads out onto the beach with Homura the pink-haired girl looks out across it; not a cloud in the sky and lots of sunny beach and cool ocean water. But most importantly, her beautiful girlfriend at her side! "This looks wonderful!" She turns to look at Homura and hugs onto her arm with both of her own, squeezing her hand between hers and smiling, "What do you want to do first? Get something to eat, dance in the sand, make sand castles, go swimming?" She smiles brightly and giggles, "Or maybe we could relax and lounge in the sun together?"
As far as Homura's concerned, the famine may as well be over. Or at least, the stressful parts of it have. She's already gone to her friends and told them that she was back in business, and even if it means a more reserved use of magic she's perfectly fine with a method of living that doesn't require some other Puella Magi die.
Six months may not be the milestone that Junko talked about, but it still matters. It's a distinct difference between their first kiss in the snow. Well, first several kisses in the snow. Well, actually they kissed until daybreak. Look, Homura tends to not mess around, okay?
Homura has done several similar treatments in order to look her absolute best for Madoka. She's always been willing to go the extra mile, ever since Madoka started calling her 'beautiful', but now she's going even a bit further. Manicures so that her hands will be soft when she gently holds Madoka's chin, having her nails done along with Madoka just for the fun of it, and of course she did everything she could to make sure that her long, silky, beautiful black hair was absolutely perfect.
Homura's own purple bikini is worn underneath her frilly violet and slightly translucent sundress. When she walks, she steps almost as with a rhythm, in time with the tropical music. She doesn't quite know how to hula dance, and this isn't quite Hawaii, but maybe she could learn?
Homura smiles at Madoka's hair, admiring the rest of her along with it. "You look lovely today, Madoka-chan."
When Madoka asks what Homura would like to do, she smiles widely, impishly, and places her free hand on Madoka's chin. The arm around her own is held closer. "What would I like to do? Anything, as long as it's with you."
With a giggle, she pulls her arm away, only to take Madoka's hand in hers, and wrap her other arm around Madoka's back. She presses her forehead against Madoka's, whispering, "Dancing on the beach sounds fun!"
Six months is an important milestone. It isn't as if Madoka needs an excuse to say yes to going to a resort with Homura, but having gotten to spend so much time together is certainly cause for celebration. Their circumstances are far different from a normal teenage romance, but that doesn't make their romance any less teenaged, and six months is a pretty good chunk of time for that.
And if they end up kissing until daybreak again Madoka certainly won't be upset.
When Madoka sees Homura after her own spa treatments the pink-haired girl can hardly keep her eyes off of her beautiful girlfriend. Or rather it's easier to say she doesn't keep her eyes off of her. "You look so beautiful, Homura-chan!" she says, eyes sweeping over pretty face, pretty dress, and absolutely gorgeous long black hair. Did Madoka just trip? No, that was just a little weakness in the knees, because that stunning beauty is her girlfriend!
When she's complimented and admired herself she blushes softly and smiles brightly, "Thank you! I wanted to look my very best." After another moment she adds, "Isn't the spa wonderful? It's really neat getting pampered by people who really know what they're doing."
Then Homura smiles at her with that impish expression, and Madoka tilts her head up a little as the hand goes on her chin, her smile softening like the warm skin touching her. She leans into Homura a little, giggling softly, "Anything with you is my favorite, too!" she replies as if it was a single set thing.
She squeezes Homura's hand when her own is taken, sighing happily as the arm goes around her. Black bangs and pink bangs intertwine as their foreheads press together, and Madoka smiles, lifting her free hand and setting it on Homura's hip, teasing her a little through the fabric of the sundress before resting it there. "Then lead me away, my love. Your little angel is needs directions back to heaven, and you always find the way there."
Homura flips her long hair as Madoka calls her beautiful. Not quickly, but slowly, letting the individual strands fall from her fingers like a cascade of shiny black. There's a sparkle in her eyes as she says, "You like it? I did this just for you, my little angel."
Madoka's legs weaken, and Homura supports her, while also grinning. Just as planned. As her girlfriend talks about the spa, Homura nods eagerly. "It is! I admit I haven't really done things like this before, so it's a new experience for me, but it's fun!"
Homura squirms slightly as she's teased, and then she leads her partner in a slow, swaying dance on the beach. Sand gives way beneath their steps, leaving a trail of footprints behind as they move across the beach.
"Heaven?" says Homura, with a teasing lilt in her voice, "Well maybe we'll find it over here." Which way would that be? Whichever way she's leading, apparently.
Homura leads them closer to the water, not enough to go swimming, but close enough that when the gentle waves crash nearby, the waterline slides up and around their ankles before receding back into the ocean, wearing away at their steps. The music in the background grows a little faint, overtaken by the sounds of gulls squawking and the noise of people talking, but Homura is still dancing to that beat. It's still loud enough to be heard.
Homura's eyes are locked onto their target, the image of her beloved reflecting clearly against seas of purple. Her soft palms press against Madoka's, and Homura holds her close enough that their stomachs are touching. It's almost like a hug, like many of their dances are, but it's not as if either of them mind hugging, either.
Madoka gives a tiny shake of her head when asked if she likes it, though her smile turning playful hints that something is up, "No. I love it!" She makes a long, audible sigh as Homura flips her hair, watching the shower of silky black strands flow off of the beautiful girl's fingers. Then with a smile she reaches past Homura and slides her hand beneath her hair, following the same motion so it's her fingers the silky soft locks flow over and off of. "Magnificent," she whispers in a happy voice.
"I haven't either, but it is fun!" After a moment quiet she considers, "I bet Mama would like it too; maybe I could take her to a local spa for her birthday?" Considering 'local' to means Tokyo there ought to be any number of good options. "On a slightly more romantic note she adds, "Being pampered is nice, but looking my best for you is the best part."
Madoka giggles a little as Homura squirms, falling in step with her in dance afterwards. She wiggles her toes a little in the sand as they move across the beach, enjoying the music, the environment, and most of all the company. "Heaven would be best, but if it's with you then I suppose anywhere will do," she replies with a playful tone of her own. "Maybe it isn't fair to ask you to bring me to heaven, you've already swept me away to paradise."
When the surf washes over her feet for the first time Madoka lets out a little squeal before giggling playfully, staring so deeply into Homura's eyes that she'd failed to notice their location. Her dance steps are slightly interrupted by playful splashing in the water before it soaks in the sand, falling back into an easy rhythm with Homura, swaying with her and not minding the slight press against her at all, flat tummy rubbing lightly with her dress fluttering about her knees in a small breeze.
She squeezes Homura's hand again as they dance together in the surf, listening to the sounds of the waves, the gulls, the people, and the music, quiet as she looks into the eyes of her one true love. Then, without closing her eyes, she dances on her toes for a few steps while lifting her chin so she can press a soft kiss to Homura's lips, telling her girlfriend how happy she is with actions rather than words.
'No. I love it!'
Homura giggles, and then gazes at Madoka as her girlfriend's hand goes behind her neck. As Madoka runs her hand through Homura's hair, the dark haired girl leans into Madoka for a kiss. When she breaks, she whispers, "So are you."
Homura tries to imagine Junko at a spa, her face covered in green with slices of lemon over her eyes. She smirks at the mental image. "I bet she would like it. I bet it'd be a lot of fun." She giggles at the talk of being pampered, and rests her head on Madoka's shoulder. "I like seeing you pampered, and taken care of, and looking your best. I especially like it if you're doing it for me."
Homura chuckles at the mention of Heaven, not taking her eyes off of Madoka. "Oh don't worry. We're both angels. I'm sure we'll find the way there."
Madoka's giggle widens Homura just a little bit. Occasionally, Homura's legs brush against Madoka's. It's never a direct impact, or a stumble, but always a brush along the side as they dance. It's almost as if Homura is doing it on purpose, to tease her girlfriend as they look into each other's eyes. It's almost as if she's playing footsie while dancing.
Homura accepts the kiss, swaying to the music while pressing her lips against Madoka's. The moment, right now, is perfect. As intimate as they are like this, the cool breeze that tickles her hair is enough to cause her to shiver.
When they break, Homura whispers, "We always manage to find something fun to do, don't we?"
Madoka gets the dual pleasures of letting her girlfriends silky hair run over her fingers and her soft lips pressing to her own at the same time. When Homura pulls away and whispers to her she giggles happily, feeling flattered and appreciated.
"She works so hard, I think she deserves it! She plays hard too, so it'd be a good chance for her to relax." Even when she's on a romantic getaway for her six month anniversary Madoka can't entirely forget her family. When Homura sets her head on her shoulder she leans her own against it, letting her fluffy hair brush into Homura's ear. "I like looking my best for you. The way you look at me when I pretty myself up makes me happy and excited."
She smiles brightly to Homura, "We'll make all the other angels jealous. But they couldn't possibly separate us, because it couldn't possibly be heaven unless I'm with you."
Homura's potentially intentional brushing of legs works very well as a tease, Madoka enjoying every brush of soft skin against her own. Madoka is blushing softly before she goes to kiss Homura. When the taller girl shivers Madoka gives her hip a gentle squeeze before sliding her hand up and around to her back, rubbing up and down warmly while leaning in closely. She still sways, though the actual dancing might die down in favor of leaning more directly against Homura.
"I think it's because we always have someone fun to do things with," she whispers in return, hugging against her tightly. And because of that teasing Madoka lifts one leg and draws it up against the outside of Homura's, sliding it against Homura's at an angle so the contact slides up and down from ankle to knee. "I don't think there's a single part of you I don't love," she teases.
"She does," agrees Homura, having known first hand just how much work it takes to survive in the business world. "She does that, too," giggles Homura, having occasionally witnessed Junko's state when she comes home late. Well, at least she knows that Madoka can handle a drunken Homura. Which has happened before.
Homura leans in just a little bit closer as Madoka confesses to liking the way she looks at her. "I like it when you look at me that way, too. I like knowing that I can have that effect on you."
She giggles, shaking her head at the mention of making other angels jealous. "Would someone be jealous of us? That must be pretty harsh, since I'm never leaving you. However, I don't think anyone would try to separate something so beautiful. Certainly not any angel."
Homura presses closer to Madoka, almost instinctively, as her hip is squeezed. The black-haired girl doesn't press for dancing as it starts to fade into a standing cuddle, instead releasing Madoka's hand to wrap her arms around Madoka's back. She holds Madoka close, nuzzling against her cheek, and feeling the warmth of her pretty pink girlfriend.
Madoka's leg brushes against Homura's, and Homura grins devilishly, squeezing Madoka close, adjusting her nuzzle to nibble on Madoka's ear, sticking her nose in Madoka's pink hair in the process. She whispers, "I love you, too. Every part of you. You'll always be my angel, no matter what happens." A soft kiss presses against Madoka's cheek. "... and I'll always guard you, because you'll always mean that much to me."
Madoka giggles alongside Homura. Some of her best conversations have been after her mother had come home late at night after drinking with her coworkers. As for drunken Homura, she was easy to handle! Or at least she was for Madoka. Being giggly and happy, if a bit less coordinated, was just fine. As was the kissy kissy.
Homura admits mutual enjoyment of being looked at with admiration and adoration and Madoka smiles warmly. "You're very effective on me, Homura-chan," she replies with a soft, mildly playful tone of voice.
"Hm, that's true. An angel should know and understand the beauty of true love when they saw it, wouldn't they?" She giggles again herself and says, "That's one reason less for me to worry about being cuddly close with you in front of others." Because she's ever actually worried about that. Uh-huh.
Her already smiling face lights up as Homura presses close, making a happy comfortable, "Mmmm," sound as her girlfriends arms go around her. She presses her cheek softly into Homura's as she's nuzzled, nodding her head lightly to return the affectionate gesture, her gentle blush making her a little warmer than usual. "I love it when you hold me," she sighs, whisper quiet.
She can feel the muscles in Homura's cheek as the girl grins, about to giggle when Homura nibbles on her ear instead, letting out an, "Eep!" and following it up with an embarrassed, "H-homura-chan..!" Not that she actually minds. Her soft blush holds steady as Homura whispers sweet words to her and kisses her sweetly on the cheek and she relaxes in Homura's arms, hugging onto her with both arms in a tender embrace. "You give me everything I could ever want, caring about me so much."
She rubs Homura's back some more, peeking her eyes towards her girlfriend before gently turning her head and giving Homura's ear a tiny nip as well, more curious than anything. Then she slides one hand up to Homura's shoulder, running her hand down her arm and guiding it gently up beside her head. "Even though I love every part of you, I know which part I love the most," she whispers into Homura's ear, slipping her head a tiny bit further over her shoulder and pressing a small kiss to the ring on her finger, the one that contains her soul.
'You're very effective on me, Homura-chan.'
Homura responds in a singsong voice. "I know~. You're effective on me, too~. I can hardly help myself sometimes."
At the talk of angels and jealousy, Homura shrugs. "I don't think that anyone who tries to break up other people's relationships for their own gain has good intentions." She could actually think of more than one time that's happened in the past year.
At the mention of being cuddly close in public, Homura looks up at the sky, thinking. "I don't think we've made anyone jealous by doing that. Envious, maybe, wishing they had someone that close, but that's different from feeling that something belongs to you when it doesn't." Some acted grossed out, but she doesn't care if her kissing annoys Kyouko. She might care more if Kyouko didn't express annoyance at literally everything. "Either way, love is at its best when it's expressed, isn't it?"
'I love it when you hold me.'
"Do you love it as much as I love holding you?" whispers Homura in return. She's still holding Madoka close, swaying gently with her, but not to any particular rhythm. It's more like the gentle rocking of the sea, or a mother trying to rock a baby to sleep.
Madoka's eep and similarly cute reactions earns another giggle from Homura. She brushes her hand against Madoka's back, and then starts drawing little pictures of flowers on her girlfriend's back with her finger. "I do care about you. I could never stop."
Then her ear is nipped in return, and a soft "Eek!" escapes from Homura's lips. She goes "Hmm?" when Madoka mentions loving one part in particular... and then kisses her soul gem ring. "Oh, Madoka-chan. My dear, sweet Madoka-chan."
Homura takes Madoka's own hand into hers, pulls back to look into her eyes, and lifts Madoka's hand to kiss her soul gem ring while maintaining eye contact.
"It's okay if you can't help yourself every once in a while," Madoka returns in a half serious voice, only to giggle and add in her own singsong, "and when you can't help yourself... you can help yourself to me~!"
Homura's comments on people being jealous of their relationship and public cuddliness get a soft hum from her as she considers them. It's interesting because she was thinking about what Homura defined envious as rather than that harsher definition of jealousy. "I wouldn't be surprised if we made people want what we have together, but it wouldn't be right if they wanted to take one of us from the other." In a much more playful tone she adds, "Besides, I'd never let someone steal you from me. You're my beautiful and caring Homura-chan." As if it wasn't just as obvious she adds, "And of course I'm your sweet little angel Madoka-chan~."
That whispered question is one that's almost impossible to answer, and just as liable to end in circular teasing as when playfighting over who is luckier to have the other. "I think I love it exactly as much," she whispers to Homura, only to smile brightly. "And that's a whole lot!" Madoka knows exactly how much Homura has wanted to hold her, and for how long; she saw it for herself. At the gentle swaying she closes her eyes for a few moments while they hug each other, focusing on the contact and the motion even over looking out at the beautiful sky, sea, and beach.
The little pictures drawn on her back put a smile on her face. To Homura's words she replies, "You don't have to." A moment later she adds, "I don't want you to."
Homura's eek gets a little giggle from her, though she's serious when she whispers. When Homura pulls back Madoka's soft pink eyes open and go naturally to the purple of Homura's. The kiss to her ring while her eyes are looked into puts a hot blush on her cheeks, and she squirms gently in Homura's arms because of how very sweet and romantic it is.
Still blushing she keeps her eyes on Homura's before pulling her hand away, leaning back a little to make extra space before reaching down and across Homura to take her left hand palm to palm, lacing their fingers together before drawing it up, holding the back of her hand towards Homura while holding the back of Homura's towards herself. She leans back in and presses her face to Homura's hand while giving it a squeeze, pressing a tiny kiss to her soul gem ring again while peeking almost shyly over their interlaced fingers into her eyes, the rings themselves touching. "These belong together."
"I think I will~." Homura's voice is still singsongy. "Help myself, I mean~."
Envy and jealousy are technically two separate feelings, though they are both often used interchangeably, and both have healthy and unhealthy contexts. To 'jealously guard something' isn't that far off from what Homura does for Madoka.
Homura speaks with a glint in her eye. "I won't let anyone split us apart either. We're so close as to be one unit, and I'd never let anything get between us. I've done far too much, and overcome too many things to give you up."
"Just as much?" whispers Homura playfully. "Well then that must be quite a lot. I might have to never let you go, if you love it that much."
She does keep holding onto Madoka, drawing lightly on her back, whispering, "Then I won't. No matter what."
Homura's romantic gesture makes Madoka squirm, and there's a devilish sparkle in her eye. It'd be a lie to say that Homura doesn't get some enjoyment out of getting a reaction from Madoka, especially if that reaction is some indication of enjoyment. Then her hand is taken and their two Soul Gem rings are pressed next to each other. Homura moves her finger ever so slightly, rubbing her ring against Madoka's, flashing a toothy grin at Madoka.
"They do. They belong together. Forever. No matter what happens, I'll always be at your side."
Opting for a simple response this time Madoka lets out a quiet but cheerful, "Yay!"
When Homura says she won't let anyone split them away from each other Madoka smiles, "I won't either. After everything we've been through I don't think it's even possible for me to care about anyone more than you." In a quieter, more somber tone she adds, "If I ever had to see you hurting so badly because you lost me, knowing it was my fault... I think it would kill me."
She never wants Homura to go through so much pain again. To cause it herself would never be something she could knowingly do on purpose.
Luckily there are so many happy things to focus on! Things like being held in Homura's arms. "If I could live my life in your arms I think I would, but we do have to be apart sometimes." She giggles playfully and adds, "Every moment you're not holding me is one that builds up anticipation for the next time you are."
Homura's in for a treat because that sparkle is noticed and seeing it makes Madoka even more squirmy and wiggly in her arms, the pink-haired girl starting to get a little self-conscious about how much she's blushing. She bites her bottom lip a little when the rings are rubbed together, though she smiles when Homura grins at her. "Nothing could make me happier than that, Homura-chan," she replies, truly meaning it.
Though that doesn't mean other things can't make her happier at all. She gives a kiss to Homura's fingers and then pulls their hands against her upper chest, over her collar bone, letting her hug close again with her other arm and still have enough room to lean in and kiss Homura again. First comes a little peck, but it's quickly followed by a gentle and lingering kiss, squeezing her girlfriends hand as their lips press together.
Are the Soul Gem rings kissing too? Only they can know.
Homura is smiling up until the point that Madoka says it would kill her if she hurt Homura that much. She frowns. She doesn't let go of Madoka, or even release her, but she does stop drawing on her back and she frowns. Then she shakes her head. "You say that, but all things considered it seriously might. I don't want you to think that you have to be with me or I'll die. That'd be an abusive situation even if neither one of us intended for it to be."
She leans forward to press her cheek against Madoka's, then she whispers. "... but don't get me wrong. I do love you, and I always will. You, more than anyone else. We've both had other people we were attracted to, maybe, and there are a lot of people that we love, but it's not the same." Her other hand unwraps from around Madoka, rising to cup her opposite cheek. "You're the one I want more than anyone else, by far, and no one can compete."
Homura giggles at Madoka's comment about building anticipation. "Right~! Well, there's no denying that we have a lot of things we need to do, but even the harshest burdens are easy when I know you're there with me." She pulls back to look Madoka in the eyes, winking at her. "Especially if I know I'll get to fall asleep in your arms at the end of the day."
The additional squirming as the rings brush against each other is quite a treat for Homura, and both her eyes and grin widen just a little bit as she stares deep into Madoka's eyes. "And you being happy will also make me happy. I suppose that would be another emotional feedback loop?"
As Madoka starts kissing, Homura leans into it, pressing their lips together. If their soul gems are kissing along with them, their souls literally touching each other lovingly, then that's even better.
When the drawing stops and Homura frowns Madoka tilts her head a little to the side, looking contemplative after hearing Homura speak. "I guess it's technically possible..." Her eyes close when Homura's cheek presses to hers, making a quiet sound and brushing her cheek gently against her girlfriends. A soft smile returns when words of love are spoken and Madoka nods, "I don't think I could ever love anyone more than you anyway. I'd feel horrible if I hurt you. Maybe you would be okay without me, but I don't want to make you have to try."
She smiles more when her cheek is cupped, torn between leaning her face into Homura's hand and nuzzling against her cheek more. In the end she chooses to merely enjoy each sweet touch, letting out a happy sigh. "I don't even notice cute people anymore. I do think they're cute, but not like that. The only one that makes my heart flutter when they're close to me is you" She giggles a little then, turning her head to kiss Homura on the cheek, "I'm glad I don't have to compete for your affection, Homura-chan. I've never been the type, but I think I'd have to learn to cheat to win your love!"
When Homura pulls back she giggles at the wink, squeezing Homura's body closer to her as she hugs her. "My arms are always here for you to sleep in if they help you carry your burdens, Homura-chan~" Madoka says playfully, only to pause and add in a more serious tone, "Mostly always, anyway." Because every night might perturb her parents. That really is the only reason, though.
Then the idea of a happy emotional feedback loop is brought up, and Madoka looks into Homura's eyes and beams a smile to her. She starts to sway a little to some unheard tune, giggling to herself before singing quietly, "Me and you, and you and me. No matter how they tossed the dice, it had to be. The only one for me is you, and you for me, so happy together~." With a happy giggle she leans back, holding onto Homura with one arm while swinging herself around, drawing Homura into a dancing spin, her voice picking up and singing at full karaoke volume, "I can't see me loving nobody but you, for all my life! When you're with me baby, the skies will be blue for all my life!"
She spins in closer and presses up against Homura, giggling and smiling, kissing Homura with her bright smile still on her lips.
"For certain definitions of 'okay', maybe," says Homura, wryly. "I'd feel pretty miserable if I lost you. You're so precious to me, and if I couldn't make you happy anymore I'd feel pretty bad about that. Honestly my goal when I first started dating you was to show you how it felt to be loved by someone as much as I love you. I think I've done that, and I think I could keep showing you that for as long as we live."
Homura smiles, pressing her cheek against Madoka's, intentionally misinterpreting what she says. "You don't notice cute people? You mean you don't even notice yourself in the mirror?" After a giggle, she says, "I don't really see people that way, either. Even when I did notice people, it was largely in relation to how they reminded me of you. I don't think I could ever be as happy as I am with you if all I had was a substitution, and it wouldn't be fair to them, either."
At the mention of learning to cheat, Homura shrugs. "I know you would, and it'd probably work. I guess I couldn't be too upset if you did it to win me, but you never really know what someone's damage is and messing with them like that can make it worse."
After a moment's pause, she says, "Well, I mean, you know what my damage is, but that's different. It's a bit irrelevant though. I'd feel sorry for anyone who actually had to compete with you. They wouldn't stand a chance."
Not perturbing Madoka's parents is a pretty good reason to not spend every night together. Though it tempts Homura to sneak into Madoka's room to make it seem like she sleeps over less often than she does. She'd hate lying to Madoka's parents but... Madocuddles are so tempting.
Madoka starts swaying, and Homura tilts her head. Then Madoka starts singing, and Homura laughs out loud. Halfway through, Homura starts singing along with Madoka, matching her volume for the chorus and swaying in time with what she remembers of the melody. "I can't see me loving nobody but you, for all my life! When you're with me baby, the skies will be blue for all my life!"
"That's why I'd never do that to you," Madoka states with a small nod. "I don't think I have to be with you, but I don't think I'd ever actually be willing to leave you. I think that's different, because it's a choice." When Homura tells her about her earliest goal in their dating Madoka blushes again, "I think you succeeded. You make me feel amazing, both from the attention you give me and how you make me feel about myself." She smiles warmly and adds, "I'd like that. I need to live a long, long time so I can get as much of your love as I can!"
The playful misinterpretation draws a giggle from Madoka and she replies, "Of course I notice myself!" Her tone is playful and after a moment she adds in a softer voice, "Because sometimes I see my reflection in your beautiful eyes." Madoka is blushing a lot today, and now she is again. Lots of happy blushes! "Aww! You like people because they remind you of me? I must be the best loved, most wonderfully spoiled girlfriend ever!"
Madoka then looks mildly embarrassed and quickly shakes her head, "I wouldn't cheat by hurting other people though! I don't know what I'd do... maybe dress up as a secretary a lot? Or brush your hair and ask you to brush mine?" She tilts her head, having no idea what actually constitutes 'cheating' in a romantic competition. She gives up on actual ideas, saying, "Or maybe I'd just cuddle you and snuggle you and invite you to a sleepover without telling you you're the only one," and snuggling up against Homura while being very wiggly.
Madoka rationalizes not telling her parents exactly how often they cuddle in bed by reminding herself they don't know just how much history she and Homura have with each other, and that she thinks they'd be completely fine with their relationship if they did. She could try telling them, but given the nature of magic they might end up passing out, hearing something completely different from what she's saying, or flat out disbelieving it and thinking she's crazy. And getting them upset with their relationship because they thought something about it was sending Madoka off her rocker would be very Not Good.
Madoka smiles even brighter when Homura sings with her, spinning and dancing and singing. After sharing many sweet kisses with her she breaks the kiss by leaning her forehead against Homura's and tilting her head down, looking 'up' into her eyes. "I mean it, too. Everything is happier and better with you in my life. Being with you is the best thing that's ever happened to me. If we're together even more than ever I think everything will turn out okay in the end. Making sure I get to keep my happy life with you is strong motivation!"
"I don't ever want to leave you, either," says Homura. "... and it is a choice. I don't think I could ever stop loving you if I tried, but being with you is a choice." After hearing Madoka say that she succeeded, Homura flashes a toothy grin. "Good! I mean... I wouldn't waste our time if I couldn't make it good for you, but I was always pretty sure I could give you exactly what you wanted. I'd be lying if I said you didn't do the same for me. There aren't too many people who accept me like you do."
The mention of Madoka's reflection in Homura's beautiful eyes, she actually blushes a little. "Ah! Well that works. Especially since my eyes are so often on you, where they belong." She kisses the blushing part of Madoka's cheek. "You've never made me regret spoiling you, my dear."
Homura blinks at the idea of Madoka wearing a secretary outfit in order to keep her attention. Well, she's already doing that anyways at work, so does that count as cheating?
Homura blushes, from genuine embarrassment, at the mention of the two of them brushing each other's hair. She actually breaks eye contact at the mention of having sleepovers and cuddles and snuggles. "Hey in my defense platonic snuggling is totally a thing. All's fair in love and war so that doesn't count as cheating! Neither does coming up with a pet name for you. How else is someone going to compete anyways?"
It isn't until after she's opened her mouth that Homura suspects that Madoka might not have meant it in that way, which makes her even more embarrassed. Her entire face is bright red right now.
Kissing is shared and then stopped, as Madoka rests her forehead against Homura's. Purple eyes lock onto pink, gazing softly. "I mean it too. Every moment with you has been worth it. We've survived a lot together, and I think we're stronger like this than we ever were apart. I don't think I ever knew how badly I needed you until I had you."
"You do give me exactly what I want!" Madoka hums softly, "I've heard other girls talk about feeling 'smothered' in relationships, but... I think I want to be smothered. I want to know I'm loved and cared for and that someone is thinking about me, and I also want to be able to give them all of my affection without making them feel weird." She smiles brightly after speaking, and given their relationship it's not hard to imagine why. "I didn't realize exactly what it was I wanted in a relationship until after I started dating you, but you did and you give me what I need every day." She leans in and gives Homura another soft kiss on the lips, "I'm glad I give you what you want. Seeing you happy and fulfilled warms my heart."
A flattered giggle comes when Homura says her eyes belong on her, and she tilts her head and smiles in a cutesy half-pose; half because she's still hugging close. When her cheek is kissed her blush intensifies, and then when Homura starts blushing herself she giggles and brushes her blushing cheek right up against Homura's in a quick nuzzle.
When the embarrassment is real, and not in an enjoyable way, Madoka tilts her head a little. It takes a moment for her to understand, and then she lets out a soft, "Aww, I know it is." She lifts her hand and gently brushes it over the top of Homura's head consolingly, "It's the intent that matters, and I was the one who started asking to hug and snuggle, and invited you to sleep over when you were feeling sad." A much more gentle kiss on the cheek is given. Then she giggles softly and adds, "You let me know when I was saying romantic things without realizing it. I love your pet name for me. I love being your little angel~."
Madoka nods softly, "We're much stronger together than apart. I know I am." Then a soft giggle, "That's the best time to find out. You can have me as much as you need. And maybe even a little more."
She wraps both arms around Homura and hugs her close again, only to laugh and smile. "Here we are on the beach at a beautiful resort and we're spending all our time in each other's arms again. I wonder if that's what a traveling would be for us, finding new and interesting places to cuddle."
'Smothering'. Well, that's one way of looking at it, thinks Homura. "I think I'd back off a little if you weren't enjoying it. I've had over a decade to be in love with you so I guess I'm just really comfortable with it. If you're enjoying that too then that's all the better. I never really thought that it was weird. People love each other and they want to express it." She shrugs, and her arms around Madoka are pulled along by the shrug. "I'm not sure what I'd want out of a relationship if it wasn't some form of affection. I guess I'd also want to know that I could make my partner happy. I won't pretend that it doesn't feed my ego to see you all giggly and enjoying yourself because of me."
Her lips are kissed, and afterward she kisses back. "You do make me fulfilled and happy. I've never been able to love myself until you loved me."
Madoka nuzzles, and Homura closes her eyes as she presses against Madoka's cheeks. She starts whispering. "My precious Madoka. My one and only."
Madoka is... a lot more merciful to Homura than she expects. She laughs, a bit relief in her laughter as she looks into Madoka's eyes. "You let me get away with anything. Are you sure you aren't the one spoiling me? It's true that you invited me, but I was an eager participant. If we had remained friends, I think I still would have been happy... though it'd be a shame. I'd never know what I was missing."
'You can have me as much as you need. And maybe even a little more.'
Homura leans forward to kiss Madoka deeply. She breaks, just long enough to whisper, "Well you said I could help myself, right?" She kisses Madoka again, wrapping her arms around Madoka's waist pushing her back into a dip. "You can help yourself to me, too. I'm all yours."
Madoka points out that they've ended up just cuddling and talking again, even if they're at a resort, and Homura looks around. "I wouldn't mind that. Finding new places to cuddle is fun. Finding new outfits to cuddle in is fun, too. I don't think anyone could say that we don't get enough cuddle time."
Madoka quickly shakes her head, "I don't think it's weird either. There are people who don't seem to want so much constant attention from their partner, but I do! Especially when that attention comes in way of sweet things you say to me, and hugs and kisses." She's certainly never been shy about expressing her love for Homura, even in public.
Homura commenting that it makes her feel good about herself when Madoka is giggly and happy because of her, followed by telling her she makes her fullfilled and happy herself puts a bright smile on Madoka's face, "It feeds my ego, too. I wanted so badly to see you happy and smiling, and now that you are it's twice as nice because you're doing it because of me."
To the whisper she nuzzles again and replies, "My darling Homura-chan, my one true love."
Madoka shakes her head in a mix of laughter and confusion, "I'm not! You didn't do anything wrong; we became best friends! I felt really embarrassed when I realized I was saying things that could be taken the wrong way..." After a moment she adds, "If we were still friends I'd still want to spent a lot of time with you, and brush each other's hair, and even cuddle and have sleepovers." Though probably not as often.
"I guess if I was trying to outdo someone else trying to win your heart I'd have done all of those things, but differently. The way we cuddle now is different from the way we did back then, right?" Much more pressing close and staring into each other's eyes. "It would have been a shame," Madoka agrees. "Missing out on something like this would have been a travesty." With a playful wink Madoka singongs, "Crisis averted~."
Homura's deep kiss is met with a quiet and enjoyable, "Mmmm," from Madoka, who eagerly returns the kiss, going so far as to pout playfully when the kiss is broken, only to shake in Homura's arms from a silent giggle as she speaks. Then another kiss comes and Madoka closes her eyes, leaning backwards and letting Homura take her weight as she's dipped, letting her hands lay gently against her back, rubbing softly. As Homura mentions she can help herself too, she lifts her head and presses a kiss to Homura's lips.
Her lips curl into a rare impish smile and give a warning to what she's about to do, pulling down on Homura and leaning back on her heels, only to try and lightly trip Homrua so the two of them fall down together in the sand, with Homura on top of her. It's almost a dancing, summer version of how she tripped them up on purpose while ice skating the day that Homura confessed her true feelings to her. Once they're settled Madoka wraps an arm around Homura's neck, lifting her head and kissing her again, this time as deep as Homura had before, letting the kissing extend for a good few minutes. "My Homura-chan! Mine, mine, mine~"
New places to cuddle and new outfits to cuddle in. Madoka's face flushes prettily as if Homura had just said the most romantic words ever spoken and she giggles happily, "Yes it is! Different outfits change cuddling in subtle ways, doesn't it? I always notice." After a moment she peeks down to their sundress covered swimsuits. "What do you think of these ones?" she asks in a totally innocent voice.
"Well different people have different needs. I guess that's why not everyone is compatible." Homura probably couldn't stand a relationship without at least some cuddling. It wouldn't have to be all the time but at least some of the time! Then again when has Madoka ever not been huggy? "It's easy to say nice things about you when you're so wonderful and cute. If you want me to point out your many positive traits then I can do that easily."
"You've given me so many smiles, Madoka-chan." There's a lilt in Homura's voice when she speaks. "You've given me so many happy memories, so many kisses, so many wonderful things."
Madoka denies spoiling her, and Homura giggles through her explanation. "Well taking it the wrong way was a little bit of wishful thinking on my part, but I knew how you meant it. Still, you were sweet to me back then, and you're even sweeter now."
Madoka talks about how she'd go about competing, and Homura considers. "It's different, yeah. Even if I was in love with you the whole time, friend cuddling is different than girlfriend cuddling. Still, I'm having trouble imagining this theoretical person who actually stands a chance against you. Every time I try to think of a perfect girlfriend I just end up thinking about the one I already have. Would that mean you'd be competing with your twin?"
'Crisis averted.'
Homura leans forward to kiss Madoka. "Yup! We're safe now~."
Homura kisses deeply, and gets really into it. She's so mentally lost in the sensation that she only barely notices when her girlfriend 'accidentally' trips her, but she does notice the sudden lack of balance as the two of them fall into the sand, Homura landing on top of Madoka.
She stops kissing only long enough to whisper, "Falling for me again, are you?" Then she gets right back to it, only stopping to hear Madoka declare Homura as her own. "That's right. I'm all yours, and you're mine~."
When asked, Homura looks down at the outfits they're wearing, and the fact that they're lying together while wearing this on a beach. She blushes, slightly, needing to clear her throat before she answers. "I... think they're cute? I mean, what else are we going to wear to a beach? They're pretty practical if we want to go swimming." Her answer is innocent enough, at least.
Madoka smiles happily as Homura calls her wonderful and cute, and then giggles and replies, "Maybe I'll ask you to sometime," in a playful voice.
"Yaaay~!" She cheers half-jokingly when Homura notes all the smiles and happy memories she's been given. With a silly grin and voice she says, "More! More! More Homura-chan smiles, more happy memories, more kisses," like she's some kind of anime villain, leaning her head back and making a comical, "Mwa-ha-ha-ha," before leaning in and pressing several small kisses onto Homura's lips.
Madoka gives Homura a sweet smile in response to be called sweet, and then can't suppress a giggle at the idea of a 'theoretical person' competing with her. At the mention of a twin she blinks a little, "Oh, that would be impossible! If we both wanted you neither of us would feel right standing in the other's way. It wouldn't be fair at all unless you had a twin, too." She peeks upwards towards the sky like she sometimes does when she's in thought, "I think if I saw our twins kissing and cuddling I'd feel envious unless I was kissing and cuddling with you, too. I wonder if such a thing as a cuddling competition..." Which pair of twins would be cuter? Whoever lost, everybody would win.
Her girlfriend getting into the kissing means Madoka does as well, happily getting her daily dose of Vitamin K. The natural form is so much better than the pill.
"Over and over again," she whispers back, pressing kisses to Homura's cheek as she speaks again before returning her lips to hers and replying in an, "Mmhm," that doesn't require their lips to part.
Then Homura clears her throat and answers the question and Madoka shakes her head from side to side while having a small gigglefit, "No, silly! I mean how are they to cuddle in!" More giggling and she squirms happily beneath Homura, the movements digging her into the sand a tiny bit. "I like them since they're so breezey, but they're not quite as cozy as pajamas. The frills on your dress is are nice, though; I can feel them through mine!" She teases one of the frills between Homura's shoulder blades back and forth with the tip of her finger.
With a soft hum she notes, "We could go swimming, though. We could even cuddle in the water~." Because of course they would.
'Maybe I'll ask you to sometime.'
Homura giggles, deciding to be quotey. "Oh how I love thee. Let me count the ways." She holds up her soul gem ring, thumbing it for emphasis. "I love thee to the depth and breadth and height my soul can reach."
Madoka starts calling out for more smiles and memories and kisses, in the same way that Homura imagines Hannah starts talking about more power. (She probably doesn't do that very much, but Homura's imagines it anyways.) At first she's wide-eyed and amused, not sure how to handle a villainous Madoka, but eventually she responds with a smile and a spoken, "As you command, my mistress," before getting to the kissing~.
Homura and Madoka having twins that also cuddle? Homura tilts her head as Madoka looks up at the sky. "Hmm. A cuddle competition. I wonder how that would work. Who would be the judge? We'd have to declare a four way tie otherwise we'd all be arguing about someone else being the more cuddly one."
Homura shakes her head. "I'd feel bad for two-timing on you twice. It would be an impossible choice, wouldn't it? I suppose I could be alright with you dating another me, but only if she loved you just as much as I do."
Vitamin K is recommended daily, and best applied topically to the lips. Take as needed. Or wanted. Whenever. Homura's not too picky about how she gets her kissy.
"Looks like I fell right along with you~," whispers Homura, in between kisses. It takes her a while to get to that point because mmm Madoka kisses.
Oh, for cuddling. Of course. Well that's what they were just talking about, right? "Oh! Well... if we weren't wearing something like this then our combined body heat might make it a bit too warm, so I like them for that. Pajamas are hard to beat for cuddling, since they're so soft, but I don't think they'd work well here." Homura's still being practical about them, until Madoka starts teasing the frills on her dress. She cracks a smile, and then giggles. "I really like that color, though. It goes well with your pretty pink hair. As far as cuddling cuteness goes it gets high marks!"
