Amidst the humdrum of murmurs and shoppers idly chatting away, Shinobu shops away at a well-frequented mall, captivating the attention of several attendants of a particular store in a self-obsessed quest to find new clothes to wear. Nothing seems to be holding her interest for very long as she goes through the rigamarole of trying out several different outfits and commanding the opinion of those trying to sell the clothes, much to their sighing dismay.
Within the shop, there are racks upon racks of seemingly expensive clothing and some odd pieces of jewelry with a multitude of shops nearby containing other knick-knacks and items. There are few other shoppers near Shinobu, but plenty frequenting just outside of the particular store she's occupying. At the moment, Shinobu is just stepping back into the dressing room yet again to try out a different dress.
It would be around then that there was a light shriek as a woman held up a dress. "This... this dress is made of chocolate!" the woman said. And, true enough, it was, with gumdrop buttons and a thin white chocolate bow. Soon, there were other people complaining about the same.
A small, blue fairy with a giant poofed dress flew about when noone was looking, sprinkling dust around as it went. Chairs were turned into candy canes, ribbons into white chocolate, jewelry into rock candies. She giggled and flew about, eventually flying over shinobu and turning her new dress into fruit rollups.
Immediate twitches of irritation cross Shinobu's face at all the racket outside of her dressing room. She ignores the first cry, humming along to herself as she takes her sweet time. However, as the commotion continues, she eventually lets out a grumpy sound and casts the dressing room door open and to the side, stomping out to angrily glare at whomever is unlucky enough to be found first.
In a moment though, her anger turns to mild shock, then surprise as she tilts her head to the side. Then that flash of magic happens, causing the dress she's holding to suddenly feel rather odd. Instead of immediately visually appraising what's become of it, she feels along it and slowly squints her eyes, her confusion intensifying by the moment. After a few seconds, she does deign to observe her delicious looking dress and lets out a small squeak as she swings her hand and drops it to the floor, wrinkling her nose with a sense of disgust at the feeling of it. She stomps her foot and shouts out unabashedly, "If I'm being pranked, whoever you are, you're in big trouble!"
Sweet just flew about the shop, seemingly unnoticed by many of the tenants. She might catch a little flicker of yellow light when she looked. There was another shriek as a woman sat down on a chair, the chair now a cake. "W-what's going on? Who's doing this? What kind of... of prank is this?"
The guests of the shop were getting mad now, yelling at the workers who had no idea WHAT was going on. Meanwhile, Sweet had moved to sit on top of the clock hanging over the main area and was idly licking off some of the frosting. It was a cake clock now.
It wasn't long before Shinobu caught sight of Sweet after it's newest escapade. She twitches her lips, looking not too pleased about the whole ordeal, though there's no much compassion for the victims of Sweet's trickery either. With a "Hmph" she elegantly strides towards the creatures resting place.
Before even arriving, Shinobu clears her throat and enunciates loudly enough for the creature to hear, "Come down here, right this instant, you." She then indicatively points towards the ground just in front of her like a mother chiding a child.
Sweet blinks and then glances down. Oh, she wondered who she was talking... wait, was the girl talking to her? Sweet blinked a few times. then gave the sweetest little giggle. She eyed her curiously, before flying towards... no, OVER her! Shoot! she'd sprinkle more dust, turning poor yuu's clothing into salt water taffy! Then, with a smug 'catch me if you can' look, she flew out the door!
It's as if there wasn't a single doubt in Shinobu's mind that the creature might not want to obey her as when the little thing started flying off, Shinobu simply looked puzzled and off-guard. This was further exacerbated by the fact that she was now wearing a dress made entirely of salt water taffy. Several moments passed before her brain seemed capable of registering what just happened, but when she finally does, it's as if a fuse was just blown.
With a slight and yummy billow of her delectable dress, Shinobu turns about with a flourish in the direction the creature just flew off in. While faster than before, she's not running or too hurried it would seem, simply walking with a fast walk pace, each step hitting the ground harshly. As she walks, an invisible miasma like tentacles of an octopus made of dark energy begins to seep out of her like a palpable smog of her seething anger at the creature, not yet dangerous, but certainly harshing any mellow nearby irate shoppers had left.
Soon all of the customers were getting pissed except... outside the shop people were starting to do it as well. Bricks were turned into candy bricks, trashcans were turned into giant bowls of ice cream, hot dogs were turned into popsickles. Everywhere sweet went, candy followed. Of course the KIDS loved it. But the adults were confused.
And the more irritated Shinobu would find that Sweet seemed to be TAUNTING her. It flew ahead, let her catch up, thenstarted flying again, gleefully playing with her. Such a naughty card.
With a single-minded passion, Shinobu continued her chase, but never strayed from her quick-stepping stride except to avoid any confused or excited bystanders in her way. One of her eyes was twitching, it didn't seem to take much to throw her off, but as the taunting continued, the dark, stewing energies pouring out of Shinobu spread further and further out like a gathering storm.
Before too long, it seems that Shinobu's had enough as with a gesture of her hand, one of those tendrils of invisible malevolence grasped and then threw one of those candy bricks towards the mischevious sprite without much concern for those around here, though it'd be difficult to tell she's the one committing the violent act, especially to those unfamiliar with magic.
Sweet turned and yiped, ducking under it. and then it did the unthinkable.
It pointed at her. AND LAUGHED! Before flying out into the park, turning the leaves into green gummy leafs.
No one saw her do it, in fact, people seemed to be getting more and more anxious and angry and soon more candy was being thrown around, her dark magic seeming to spread easily through the confused mass.
Fling! Another candy brick goes flying. While difficult, she's being consistent with continuing to throw the candied objects she finds around her path towards the sprite. The many tentacles of the dark energy soon resembling snakes or the heads of a hydra with the way they wriggle and slither about, weaving through the populace, the trees, and all other forms of life about the area. Larger and larger, the field of darkness grows.
Meanwhile, Shinobu hasn't done much herself aside from the gestures seemingly required to continue the hail of her newly delicious arsenal. Not that it'd be easy to switch up her pace considering the difficulty of running in a taffy dress and heeled shoes.
Sweet hid behind a tree for a moment, grinning wider before... taking off. It was going a lot faster now, making poor Shinobu RUN after the little sprite if she wanted to catch it. It was still occasionally turning things to candy as she went, but not many.
Then, poof, while shinobu was running on the path, she'd likely find that it went from dirt to.. very, very soft chocolate.
With a sound grump, Shinobu attempted to hurry her pace, but didn't make much more progress than before. The final straw seemed to be the chocolate which nearly caused her to faceplant right into the stuff. She windmills her arms well enough to keep her balance. However, despite this striking a cord with her untempered anger, she didn't pursue. Instead, she plucks off, or rather, jumps out of her shoes to go barefoot and shifts into the trees, out of sight for a moment.
As she does so, that slithering mass of energy gives her away fairly well, though her exact location is difficult to determine with just how spread out the darkness is. ALthough now, it's not just slithering away from her, it's slithering upwards as well, slowly forming the begginings of a cage invisible to any of the normal onlookers, though it certainly seems to be exciting the adults already angered states and souring the moods of the would-be happy kids.
Sweet blinked, cocking its head to the side. Awwww, was the fun over already? She moved down to the chocolate road and picked up a chunk, chewing on it. Awwww, so sweet. Sweet certainly did like sweet things. Like her! She waited a few moments but, with no sign of the good coming out, she turned and started to fly off.
Poo, and she'd been having such a joy! She stopped on a branch and started eating a gummy leaf.
Shinobu herself isn't all that stealthy, but she tries. She creeps along and jumps out towards the creature from behind a tree while finally addressing it again. Oddly enough, she doesn't sound all that angry, or maybe it's just that all that anger is literally seeping out of her, "Come here, little... thing. I'm only going to hurt you a little bit." She says in a sinister, sweet tone of voice.
There's an odd sense of sadistic excitement in her tone of voice that would make one's hair stand on end. All the while, the darkness encroaches and surrounds much of the park they occupy.
Sweet giggled and then started to fly towards her. Oh, it was giving-- Nope. It was just going to try and drop a pie on her face.
In Sweet's defense, the candy WAS pretty good. If Shinobu would just try it. Sweet then started to fly up and... paused once over the tree line. That... was odd. What was that darkness?
What's more delicious than candy? Revenge! Sweet, sweet revenge. Shinobu had one thing on her mind, and it showed quite evidently. The fairy may be playing tricks, but it may be barking up the wrong tree with this one! Shinobu wasn't in the mood for games it would seem, or at least not the sort of game where she's played the fool. The pie strikes her solidly, causing her to reel back more from surprise than anything. However, after a small moment of smoldering, she swipes the air in front of her and tears the poor pie in twane, sending it to the ground aside her, messing up her lovely and delicious taffy dress even.
Of the bits that were left on Shinobu's face, many were licked off with a small motion of her tongue. She didn't seem rushed or very intent at all anymore, more as though she were waiting for the inevitable. The inevitable in this case being the now shrinking wall of barred darkness that now began to close in and all around both her and the mischevious fairy, "Oh, we're going to have sooooo much fuuuuun." She said in that delightfully frightening sinister tone of hers.
Sweet was starting to get a tiny bit nervous. This? This was dark magic. It tried to fly around, searching for an escape. Once it realized there was none, it tried slamming itself into the cage, trying to push back against it! But, well... she was Sweet. She was made for making cakes. Not for fighting through barriers.
Shinobu let out a soft sigh of delight and started to find a nice cozy spot beneath a tree. Once found, she plops down, preparing to have a nice heart to heart with the frantic fairy under the cool shade. She brushes out her taffy dress modestly then waves towards the fairy, attempting to get its attention before curling a finger beckoningly. Not that there was much of a choice given the barrier was closing in, forcing the two closer and closer as the cage shrunk.
Despite the idle threats, the barrier wasn't harmful, just solid and malevolent. Though not made for fighting, being magical was more than enough to keep the barrier from affecting the fairy the same way it affected the regular humans around the park, "Oh Miss Faaaairy, I'm waiting for you over heeeeere. Come, come, sit." Her voice was playful and welcoming, which is probably all the more reason to be terrified as there isn't anything much about this girl that's truly welcoming or kind.
Sweet was slowly drawn closer. Gulped and then snapped its fingers. The dress of Shinobu's turned back to a dress! It flew around frantically, trying to find some way out. Then, as it came closer and closer, grabbed a rock and turned it into a really big piece of candy! One of those delicious chocolate ones, with the crunchy shell and core of pure melting goodness. It held it out nervously, as a peace offering.
As Shinobu's dress returned to normal, she sighs with some relief and shifts more comfortably against the tree. Casually, she plucks up the piece offering and starts to nibble on it. All seems right with the world and peace is restore... Actually nope. Shinobu reaches out and attempts to grab the fairy in an oppressive and just slightly tight grip.
"Now then, let's go over the dos and don'ts of what you should and should not do with magic... Shall we?" Shinobu asks. Though it's not the real kind of asking, it's more the telling kind of asking and she sounds a little too excited about it.
Sweet was trapped, didn't really have anywhere to go so was, after a few tries, snatched up. she struggled in the grasp, giving little whimpers. She was a soft, delicate little thing.
She eventually went still and looked up at shinobu, before nodding weakly.
"That's right. Good... whatever it is you are." Shinobu offers in praise to the candy-making sprite. Using a single finger, she begins to pet the fairy on the top of the head, a truly comforting, if condescending gesture, but doesn't relinquish her oppressive grip at all, "Now, how about we have some real fun." She suggests.
This fairy may be getting more than it bargained for. Shinobu didn't really have tricks or pranks in mind for this little one's powers. She stands up and, with fairy in hand, begins to lead onto a journey of dark intent.
