---Hours ago---
"Sakura, I don't like this. This... feels odd,"
Sakura shrugged as she made her way up Tokyo tower, towards the top. It wasn't so bad, really. Float did most the work.
---Ten minutes later---
"Return to your true form! Clow--"
"SAKURA! BEHIND YOU!"
"Huh? AHHHHHH!"
---Now---
Hours ago the storm had picked up. What had originally been an inch or two of snow was now almost three feet and actually getting worse. On top of it, lightning had been striking indiscriminatly, destroying all in its wake. There hadn't been any sign of relief, either. No deaths, yet, but it was rumored that within a day the city would be under about 12 feet of snow if it didn't let up.
Worst of all, that hint of magic? It was now like a swirling vortex of magic over Tokyo tower and, at the top of the tower, was a young girl encased completely in ice.
Despite herself, Haruka's sense of duty dragged her out of her nice, warm, cozy dorm into the teeth of the storm. She was wearing approxamately five thousand layers, and something just felt wrong about this storm. Maybe it was the fact that she paid attention to weather, and this seemed like no storm she could ever recall.
She dragged her scarf up her face with a mittened hand as she looked around, trying to find a source for the out-of-season storm. Even under all her layers, she shivered. This just... didn't feel right to her, in a way that made her long to transform.
She was holding off on that, mostly because she was slightly worried about exposing that much leg to this weather until absolutely necessary, not thinking about the fact that the transformation would probably protect her.
Something is seriously wrong. While Naomi is usually all for a nice snowfall, this is getting out of hand and the fact that its just getting more intense has her more then a little worried. The weathermen on the news are chasing their tails trying to figure out where the heck this storm came from. A scientist is saying it's the result of climate change! A Priest is saying that its the apocalypse! The fact that there is swirling magic amidst this tells a very different tale.
Naomi knew she had to do something. Quickly she ran outside and in that instant, gone was the young inventor and there was the Precure Spark!
With her is Lilac who is shivering pretty bad. Quickly spark pulls the fairy close and holds her tight. "Its okay. We will solve this and we will find out whats making things so cold." She finds something to wrap the fairy in to help her keep warm. Then its into the sky.
Sora had been sitting near the top of the Tokyo tower reflecting upon her past when the storm started, and then when she tried to get down she slipped and fell, and then she twisted her ankle, and in doing so dropped her phone. Now she's at the heart of the storm, still recovering from previous issues, and unable to move out. She's tried to move down without hurting, but even now her phone is just out of reach.
Hope Kanata was languishing in his hotel room. It was a nice hotel room. But it also wasn't a home. It was... a hotel room. At least Pafu was trying to prove herself /BEST MAID/. (BEST MAID!) over the housekeeping. This at least, pleased the housekeeper who barely had to do any work in the room.
He's thinking about calling Haruka. Maybe finding something to do on his own. Maybe tracking down this 'Mamoru'- Earth's Prince apparently.
He's actually about to put on his coat and atempt this when something piques him. He looks out the window. Over the Skyline. Toward's the tower.
Moment's later there's a sudden hard snow storm.
Prince Kanata doesn't have magical teleporting powers. He does have a magical horse named Wish that he rode a better deal here on before the storm got too much for the poor horse.
From here on out- he levels his staff down- a brilliant rainbow shield forming partly around him- acting like a barrier against the wind and cold and... lightning?
He looks down the way and-
It's Haruka? But. Why isn't she...
Transformed.
In the magically powered storm?
"Haruka?" he calls out. "Haruka!" he calls again.
He begins to trudge that way.
The storm was getting worse with every second, it probably wouldn't take a day to get to that level. As they traveled the area, they'd find worse signs as well. Things were being frozen over. Cars, poles... a few people who were unfortunate enough to be stuck in this. Fortunately, it was magic ice, so when it melted things would be better.
Poor Sora was finding she had made herself a target, accidentally. As she laid there, helpless, ice began to slowly snake up her limbs, trying to freeze her in a block like so many other things.
Poor Spark soon found herself caught in a wind tunnel of snow! It was as if the elements themselvesraged against her, swirling, making every step a mad struggle.
However, Hope was receiving the worst of it. All of a sudden Lightning came down and STRUCK the barrier, bounding off... and then coming right back, lured in by his magical powers. Haruka, on the other hand, she was just fine.
There's only one good thing about the ice on Sora's legs. And that's the fact that it helps soothe the pain of that twisted ankle. Everything else ranged from bad to terrifying, and so the girl, now with her hurt foot thoroughly encased in ice, does the only thing that she still knows to do.
She screams, "Help me! Please! Anyone!?" She screams at the top of her lungs, because if this takes any longer she might not be able to scream anymore... and then she would never be able to fix what she's done wrong.
Haruka brightened a little at Kanata's appearance, eyes lighting up. It amazed her that he could recognize her cocooned in all those layers, and a brief blush heated her face before he brought out the barrier and lightning struck it.
That got a response, and an immediate one. The reason she wasn't transformed was out of dislike for the cold, but if there was something attacking, well... there was only one response to that. "Pretty Cure, Princess Engage!"
A flurry of flowers and wind heralded the appearance of Cure Flora, and, oddly, the storm didn't seem nearly as cold as it had while she was a swaddled starfish. A cry for help got Flora reacting, springing toward the screaming girl. "Pardon me!" It's brief, trying to excuse the rudeness of trying to drag Sora up by nothing more than the enhanced strength of a Pretty Cure and break the ice that way.
Okay walking was out of the question. She looks at the little fairy who is still in her arms. "We can't go through it, lets go over!"
Lilac was currently only a nose poking out from a small blanket. She squeaks, "Spark, you'll have to fly ahh ACHOO! Quick! Your wings will freeze in this!"
Spark nods. Quickly her backbow shifts to wings and she launches herself upward at high speed. She quickly accelerates trying to get above this insane weather. "Almost there. Just hold on Lilac. It'll be warmer above this. Just you wait!"
Zort. Lighting bounces off of his barrier. This causes him to recoil a bit- and it dissapates the barrier. He wasn't putting a lot of power into it- he was using it to keep the snow away.
He frowns a moment.
That only lasts a moment because Haruka transforms into Cure Flora and she's off to save Sora.
He'll go ahead and follow with a deft series of leaps after.
He's not able to do it in one.
This'll take him a moment. Hopefully nothing tries to stop him.
Fortunately for Flora, breaking through the ice was easy, in fact it was extremely easy! What wasn't so easy was, now that the barrier was gone, the lightning seemed to disappear into the sky... only to come striking down at her a moment later, bouncing across the snow as if it was playing some kind of sick, dangerous game.
Spark... poor spark. As she took to the air, the snow changed from a blizzard to hail. It started as hail the size of golf balls, pounding on her from all sides, but by the time she was three stories up they'd get bigger and bigger, trying to drive her down. But the time she'd be halfway to the clouds, they'd be the size of snowmen! And hit like bowling balls! Yeah, thsi was definitely magic.
Sora winces, and audibly whimpers, when her twisted ankle gets forcibly yanked out of the ice it got stuck in. "Th-thanks. It's cold up here." She answers, leaning on the unfamiliar magical girl and trying to steady her footing, but the ice and twisted ankle make that a tricky proposition. "I d-didn't expect it to get so cold up here, is something g-going on?" She asks, teeth clattering.
"YIKES!" She is suddenly being pelted with ice! Spark winces as that hail is rapidly changing from a couple tiny things to some very dangerous huge chunks. "Okay something doesn't want us up here!" She clings to the fairy. Her wings are getting a little glaze on them.
"Spark-chan, if we get hit by just one of those we both could wind up in having a problem!" The little fairy has wiggled her head free of the blanket and is now seeing the horrors of bowling ball style hail.
Spark glares upward. She goes into the full on Pretty Cure mentality. She's picks up speed and begins punching bowling ball sized hail! She's really moving fast. Hopefully fast enough to punch through this really bizzare storm.
"Spark-chan! I'm sensing another pretty cure down there! Not like Blue-sama's Precure!" The little fairy states with a bit of joy in her voice.
"Awesome! Can't wait to... GRRR!" CRUNCH! Another chunk of hail shatters into dust. She isn't pulling punches up here. "...meet her!"
Jiaying Maki has never actually seen snow before, this is all a new thing. The fact that it's now almost as tall as she is, is slightly disconcerting though. This means she's taking longer than usual to get to the tower and there's flashes of magic as she gets frustrated picking through the thickest parts and melts away some of it with bursts of green flame. For clothing, she's taken to layers. Shirt, another shirt, a hoodie, then the tag lined robes she's taken to wearing lately. The hood is up, she's got a scarf on and she's wearing gloves to go with the warmest pants and boots she could find. The things she's saying in Chinese probably aren't about the miracle of snow.
There's shouts for help, now that she's close enough to hear, one that's familiar and with a frustrated growl, she burns another path of snow free and hurries along, wondering if she should invest in those snow shoe things if it's going to be this bad! Still, she's close enough now, she throws some caution to the wind and with a touch of magical help, bounces along the sides of the nearby buildings and lamp poles, flashes of green where she lands before leaping away again. She lands too late to help Sora out, but she does look concerned, especially at the chattering teeth and quickly pulls the long sleeved robes free to... unceremoniously drape them over Sora and by proxy, part of Haruka's arm. Now she's dancing around already while she says to the other magical girl, "Thank you." sounding this side of miserable before trying to give Sora a hug while asking, "What happened?" aside from the obvious she means. Hopefully. Without her robes and hood, the foxgirl thing is rather obvious too. She points up eventually, her brain catching up and asks, "I mean that." to the vortex of magic, not having seen the other frozen girl yet. Waiting for details before diving in. For once.
Flora doesn't even think-- she reacts to the danger, grabbing Sora close and rolling away from the lightning. The fact that she's rolled herself closer to Kanata might be intentional, or it might not. "Luckily, the cold should help with your ankle," she says softly, eyes not on Sora but instead the source of the attack. She flashes Jiaying a smile, following her point upward. "Can you take care of her?" Flora is all business right now, and that business is dealing with this storm. She's not sure how well her powers will work against it, but it's certainly better than nothing.
There's a brief moment as she tries to figure out how to safely get up to the vortex, but she thinks she has a shrewd idea. "Kanata, would you mind if I carried you? I think you can help protect me on the way up there." She's trying not to blush as she asks this.
Prince Kanata touches down not far off from Flora as he finally reaches the top. He occasionally swings his scepter to intercept a stray lighting bolt that might come for him. His barriers are strong and stable right now. Brilliant in rainbow shimmer.
He arrives. "There's some sort of disturbance." he says to Jiaying. "Further Up." he says.
Flora asks to carry him. He blinks a moment. Well sure. Why not let himself get Prince carried. "Right." he says. "I'll need the free hands for the barrier anyways." he says- as if to help absolve Flora of anything else this idea suggests.
He'll go ahead and get ready for this. Wait for Flora to pick him up so he can barrier it up.
Oh, poor Spark. She'd finally make it to the top and find, well... the hail wasn't stopping. IT flowed around her. And the clouds? She could punch her way through them... but it was like trying to punch through a mass of thick sludge. They were almost solid, pushing against her. And then as she made her way up... they... didn't seem to end. If anyting, the clouds seemed to be wrapping aROUND her.
Thel ightning seemed to be reflected by the shield, but it wasn't stopping. Recoiling and then coming back down. The tower was slowly becoming covered in ice as well, wrapping around all in its wake. As they made there way closer to it... spikes of ice began to rise up around them as... something... seemed to be swimming through the thick snow.
"Lilac! Get out of this mess. Go! Get down to the other Precure and tell her what is going on. I am getting a little sick of this came!" Cure Spark is getting annoyed with this crazy magic storm that is actively trying to keep her from the source.
Lilac looks worried. She is still wrapped up in her small blanket. "Okay Spark-chan. You keep safe." She takes off flying down into the nasty weather again. She has her blanket around her still. Quickly she makes her way towards Cure Flora and the Prince. She is actively trying to wave them down when... she gets hit with a hail stone. It sends her down a bit.
Spark is noting that she isn't being targeted by hailstones so much as being walled off. "Okay I don't know who you are or what your deal is but if you think I'm staying in your little cloud cage here, I got some news for you!" She hits her prebrace. "SPARK DAZZLING JET!" Cyan light wraps around her as with a burst of insane speed she punches through the cloud and the hail. She's moving quick too. "Now Show yourself!"
Sora gets handed over to Jia with little ceremony, but the warmth of her girlfriend is welcome, and she wraps her arms around the other girl, pressing her face into the girl's shoulder. "Something magical, I don't know what. It started a while ago but I hurt my ankle and dropped my phone, so I couldn't reach. I wanted to call you, but..."
All of a sudden-- with Something swimming through the thick snow-- there's a glowing sea-green and matte-black-shadow that arcs through the air against the wind in the direction of the tower leaving a trail of that sea-green light as a fading afterimage. With it comes a distorted, modulated, autotuned voice blasting words ahead of it: "STRENUOUS PROFUNDO BREAKBEAT!!"
Lightning strikes violently at the figure as it streaks through the air, and the snowy wind tries to throw it off course, and hail pounds it stingingly small and softball cannon shot hard, and as it goes it laughs, loud and raucous and reckless. There's a bone-deep crack at the impact of the attack and then the attacker against the ice, and a spray of ice shards and falling chunks of it, and silence thereafter.
Flora unceremoniously scoops up Kanata, carrying him bridal-style. Aroma would be horrified. "Don't worry about hanging on- I'm strong enough for that." There's a certainty to her voice, different from when Kanata first met her, and not something that could be easily explained away by the instinctive drift toward princessly manners.
And then two things happen that catch her flat-footed. The first is the falling fairy, the second is the streak of light heading toward the ice.
What.
With a small shake of her head, Flora starts running toward the tower and where Lilac is likely to land, using her momentum to kick into a powerful leap. If she's lucky, they'll catch Lilac while headed up the tower.
Jiaying Maki looks between Sora, to Kanata, pointing up again, "No clue what's causing it though? I couldn't see anyhing." She scowls, trying to think of how she wants to do this. Dancing around back and forth, even when being hugged by Sora, she pulls her scarf free, murmurs, "This weather is terrible." referring to the snow thing more than anything else and offers it to Sora as well. She has the distinct feeling she's going to want to try and help and she's not quite sure how to go about it! Glad for the layers though, she says to Sora, "We'll- you're okay, that's all that matters. "What's the use of finding a phone now, that can come after!
When it seems like she's about to dart up the tower, she instead stops, watching out for lightning strikes and other things, then she says, "Let's get you away from here Sora, can you walk at all?" Noting the way she's gingerly putting weight on her ankle. She's learning not to leap in all the time! Flora's given a quick, "Thanks" before she darts off.
Prince Kanata hefts his scepter and holds it out in front of him- and there's a bright brilliant rainbow shine of a barrier forming in front of him and Flora to protect them. He pours more of his energy into it. He doesn't need to concentrate on holding on- or leaping- when being carried after all. He can put most of his focus into that.
More of his focus. Not all of it. He needs to be aware.
Aware of...
What... what is. That awful music he can just hear above the snowstorm.
Is that the source of the disturbance?
He would look to Flora quizzically, but it's better to keep on the task at hand at the moment.
And then she finally broke through the cloud cover. And... and sitting on top of the clouds was... was a little girl? She looked over and cocked her head, eying the woman for a moment. She then hopped up and dusted herself off.
She shook her head and made a 'quiet' motion with her fingers, beckoning the girl to follow her.... Okay then. http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/ccs/images/9/94/Cloud.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/185?cb=20111011104836
Thel ightnign strikes at this... thing and is eventually hit full force. It is sent flying back and crashes into the ground. It lands a moment later and... growls. It seemed to be some kind of... lightning... dog? Why was there a lightning dog?
And then a giant ice wave broke from the snow under the group. Massive spikes of ice formed up, trying to encase the prince, flora, jia and sora in their coldness.
Lilac is caught in the nick of time. Hitting the ground would have really hurt! She has a bruise on her head from the hail stone. Shaking it off, she looks up, "Oh Hi! I'm Lilac! My friend, Cure Spark, is up above the storm. There is some serious magic going on up there! Spark is going to need help! Can you get up there?" She asks Cure Flora. The little fairy pulls her blanket which is getting wet, tightly around herself to try to keep warm.
Up above the storm, Spark's attack fades leaving her standing there looking around for whoever is causing this chaos. Thats when she sees the strange little girl. "What in the world is going on?" She asks quietly.
The little girl shushes her and then gestures to her to follow. Its definitely strange right now. Quietly she follows the little girl, being careful not to make much noise.
Flora yelps at the sight of the ice, taking a moment to kick off into the air once more. She gives Lilac a nod of acknowledgement, though the encroaching ice is something she's not sure what to do about. "No, I don't think so- it's just... a kind of music." Not one that's to her taste, but still. She's busy keeping them away from the ice, kicking into the air whenever it gets too close.
Prince Kanata is keeping that barrier up, using it to push through- and otherwise deal with the ice. The barrier is hilarously strong right now. He'll let Flora worry about dodging- though the barrier is doing a good job of also being a wall. This was a good idea. Flora had a good idea. They'll be there in no time.
"Right." he says more curtly as he keeps a straight face.
"Just a little more then!" he urges.
"You can do it, Flora!" he says as he continues to give support.
"Don't worry. My shield will protect us from the bulk of the oncoming ice." he says. "Let it work." he says.
Jiaying Maki looks around for a safe place, wanting to get Sora out of the center of the chaos at the ver least. She looks left, right, up, then finally says to her softly, "Hold on." Before scooping her up. Which would be impressive if she weren't blatantly cheatingwith what looks like a second pair of ghostly arms helping support Sora. She looks up to the others, then hops down, only landing somewhat heavily thanks to the snow and all. From there, she tries to find at least an alcove to cut down on the biting wind. She may also pull afew tags, creating little flames with them and sticking them on the sidewalk to help keep some of the snow at bay and provide warmth with a hurried, "Be right back!" before darting back up along the wall and towards the cortex once more.
She's falling behind, which gives her a chance to look for any other victims, since she's almost sure they'll have it handled by the time she gets up there, not that she won't try!
Then there's a flickering of that sea-green from ahead of the ice trap, back at the building, and the sound of something deep and earth-shakingly low and loud starts rumbling through the ground beneath them and beneath the tower, like a strangely rhythmic earthquake with something even more strangely melodic about it, until it destabilizes. That weird robot voice cracks through the air again. "IMMENSE FLOOR LAVA-- no wait bad idea-- uhh-- IN SOVIET TOKYO, BASS DROPS YOU!" it yells, and then Something is swimming at them through the snow and ice spikes, whacking at them with what looks like a bass guitar made of smoke and green lightning. Okay not so much swimming as judderingly rollerblading about a foot off the ground. So it looks like the figure -- black against the snow, the figure's more clearly girl-shaped when visible through the driving blizzard -- is walking on the snow's surface, or maybe ice skating on it.
"YOU GUYS ARE TRYING TO GET INTO THE TOWER AND UP IT, RIGHT? I THINK MAYBE INSIDE IS EASIER FOR GETTING UP IT BECAUSE THERE'S ONLY ICE TO BREAK THROUGH, NOT ALL THIS STUPID WIND! I MADE A DOOR. IF IT HASN'T FROZEN OVER AGAIN YET. I MEAN CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG AND THAT'S NOT THE PLAN, THAT JUST LOOKED LIKE THE PLAN." Okay probably not a youma, despite the way she looks. Her eyes glow bright green and she has a gasmask instead of a lower half of her face, and the sea-green light is traced in patterns all over her shadow of a body.
Just as she's getting to them, she gets a sudden ice spike jutting up through her arm and sticking her in place. "OW FFF*#$@*&*$*^@&!!!" She tugs uselessly at it, trying to break free and only making it hurt more, then drops her bass and lets it dissipate so she can start punching at the top of the ice stalagmite with her other fist.
The little girl kept walking. Then the clouds parted and a new maiden. In white flowed up. She gazed down at Stomr with empty, white eyes. Cloud eeped, shaking her head and then running off. The other woman glanced to Storm, before holding out a hand as chilling winds and ice enveloped her. Oh good. She found the source of the snow. Without backup. Lucky her.
The lightning beast roared, before it once again became thunder and lightning, coursing through the air and bouncing against the barrier. freeze did the same, swirling around them, the strange fish like creature flowing under the snow.
Unfortunately, the barrier around them began to slowly get wrapped in ice and tried to be frozen to the ground... attempting to encase them all in a bubble of ice.
Flora nods at Bass-chan's suggestion, trying to get away from the ice. She spots the fish-like creature, frowning. "There's something in the ice!" Is it possible that the ice-fish is responsible for the ice? It seems like as sound an idea as any. "Can you try and block it in?" If he can, she might be able to do something- anything- to make it stop, render it unconscious- something-- and then, at least, they won't be dealing with ice, right?
Spark was moving silently. She didn't know what was going on. Then things began to come together. She sees the other maiden and suddenly is being attacked with magical ice. "EEP!" Her hands are getting a glaze of ice over them. Her feet too. Her body is starting to shake. This is really bad!
"SPARK!!!" The little pink fairy takes off flying leaving her blanket behind! She doesn't see whats happening but she does know something is wrong. Quickly she begins navigating her way up towards the sky.
The Precure above the clouds is losing hope fast as more ice gathers over her. "I can't... Let you... do this!" She shivers as she speaks. Using her enhanced strength she moves her arms and slams her hands together shattering the ice. She barely manages to turn the dial on her prebrace. "Spark.... Beautiful... Halo..." She states her attack Suddenly a ring of lightning is unleashed around her shattering the ice and giving her a chance to move. Quickly she gets back to take cover and recoup.
Jiaying Maki shakes some of the snow and growing ice away from herself, rubbing her hands and arms a few times to get feeling back in them as she stops to make sure no one else needs help. Her tail's starting to droop with the weight of the ice and her ears keep getting brushed from time to time to keep snow from building up there. She looks less than thrilled. "Glasses... big ones, or goggles." Is all she can be heard muttering to herself before jumping up higher.
Spotting the ring of lightning and shattering ice, she jumps towards her, more of those charms pulled from her pockets, smoke trailing behind her as she burns the needed markings in. Landing with a skidding yelp, she brushes herself off and quickly sets the charms down around her and Spark before it does more than singe her hoodie. She's totally beating out little embers on her arms. With a huff, she looks to the half-frozen girl and asks, "Are you okay?" crouching down to stay warm while watching the others.
Prince Kanata eyes the fairy as it flies off. He gives a curt nod to it as he looks back over to Flora and says. "I can. But I'll need to drop the current barrier. Hold on." he says--- as he forces the barrier out in a burst- to try to shake off the building up ice to give Flora alast bit of reprieve before he looks up at the weird.
That.../isn't/ a youma, right? Bass-chan /isn't/ a monster? Ugh. He knows looks can be deciving.
But. Ugh.
Nevermind. More important things to think about.
He frowns and summons up another rainbow barrier- marked that royal symbol- as he attempts to slam it forward toward's the creature- trying to wrap the rainbow barrier around the creature to try to contain it.
His barriers are plenty strong- hopefully strong enough to contain the creature.
"OKAY GOOD go up the inside of the tower then," says the green and black shadow music girl with the foul mouth, finally punching the top of the icicle off and carefully pulling her arm up off it, then ripping a piece of shadow off her bodysuit-- and there's nothing but more shadow underneath, what the hell-- and wrapping it grimly around her arm. "Me I'm taking the shortcut. Anyone else who can fly please do it. TREBLE KNIVES MORNING RESCUUUUUE!!"
With that, she rockets straight up, leaving a contrail like she's from Tron, except jerking around messily when pieces of storm and lightning hit her. Every time they hit, there are sea-green sparks that fly off her and drift, dispersing and winking out. Maybe this is why she only shows up every few months -- if you go all out every fight it probably takes a considerable rest period until you can fight again? Or maybe she just has a short attention span.
Either way, in short order she's up by Cure Spark, looking disorganized and kind of cloudy herself, glowing sea-green hair floating like a halo around her gasmasked glowy-eyed face. And she dives to punch the first thing it looks like is giving Naomi trouble.
Storm manages to break free, in fact, she parts the clouds a little over the tower! And from this angle, she can see the giant ice cycle on top of it. The one holding a completely frozen Sakura, her wand still in hand as if she was sealing a card, like the top of a great christmas tree. Then they losed in again and the clouds started trying to coil around Storm's legs as more snow started to fall on her, trying to freeze her. Cloud gave an apologetic smile. Alas, the only thing to take cover with was clouds and they had a master. Then suddenly crazy lady! With two of them, the snow turned her attention to the thing trying to punch her! She disappeared into the clouds. A moment later appearing behind bass and trying to freeze her! Meanwhile, snow tried bidning up poor spark.
Thunder was caught in the barrier, moving around, striking all the walls eratically as it tried to break free. Unfortunately, though, there were TWO monsters here. As he moved to encase thunder, Freeze appeared again, in a wave of ice and tried to envelop him in the freeze of winter. They were making their way up, though! Slowly! Best be careful, though. The tower was frozen and slippery, and it was a long fall. Even with all that snow. However, if they persisted to the top, freeze was having a harder time keeping up, its attacks getting slower and... they'd see Sakura. Frozen in place.
Spark blinks a few times. "Am I glad to see you! Hiya Bass-chan, Things are getting nuts up here." She peeks out to get a look at what all is going on. "Crap." She catches sight of the block that is Sakura. "We gotta rescue someone. I know whats going on now!"
She turns the dial on her prebrace, "Spark Static Repulsion!" Immediately a spark shield appears around her hand. "These are Clow Cards. Sakura was trying to stop them and she got frozen up here. If you can draw these two's attention I can get her out of the ice." She speaks to Bass as she gets ready to takes off to kick some ice.
Suddenly, A little fairy comes barreling up to help Spark. Lilac is cold and very worried. Suddenly a burst of ice comes her way. Spark quickly moves and uses that shield to protect her fairy. She moves her to safety. "Sorry Spark-chan. I was worried!"
Flora pulls out her Perfume, hoping Kanata will drop the barrier in time for her attack to hit. "Exchange! Mode Elegant! Pretty Cure Floral Tourbillon!" Wind whips around Flora, causing the flower petals that appear to swirl furiously- and they go after both Freeze and Thunder with the force of Flora's determination behind them. The longer skirt is also nice- if nothing else, it will protect her legs.
Jiaying Maki gets herself warmed up and leaps further up the tower, bounding from perch to perch while leaving that patch of warmth behind for anyone that may need it. Buffetted by the winds and various crazy goings on, she's slowing down though, not wanting to slip in these kinds of conditions. Higher and higher up, she stops to create another patch of ground that's providing both light and warmth! However, by now she's close enough to see what's going on! Sort of at least. There's two things running about. Are they errant spirits? She reaches out with what amounts to a magical tether and finds more than likely that she can't yank on it to control them. Nothing lost for trying though, right? The next step is... to do what? She has no idea, though Spark darting towards something gets her attention and she uses that as an excuse to focus there! How do you even unfreeze someone anyway? Isn't that super dangerous?
She scowls, starting to hurry towards them, skirting the outside of the fight with charms at the ready. Then there's the declaration and that tells her what she CAN do to help! Sliding to a stop. On her front. Having faceplanted on the way over, she mutters, scrambles to her feet near Spark and begins working some magic, starting first and foremost with another fire charm because she's cold and number fingers don't help anyone! Beyond that, she settles in place, watching for anything that might cause problems with the... whatever it is Spark's going to do.
Prince Kanata keeps his barrier up until he sees Flora take out the Perfume. Flora can't get at the creature if he's protecting it-- so of course- he drops the shield the moment Flora's /just/ done with her transformation- giving her enough time to get the key into the Perfume and to actually launch the attack.
This of course, leaves him open a few moments to be iced over a little- oh god that's so cold. And it stings. And it's uncomfortable and it hurts- and he grits his teeth- but this isn't the first time he's been through this kind of pain--- he has just enough wherewithall to get another barrier up in front of him to get reprieve. It's small- and fast- and not concenreated- but he's hoping he won't need it much longer if Flora keeps that attack up.
"YOU GOT IT, SPARKNOTE! CRUNCHY LOW PASS FILTER!!!"" Bass-chan yells through the storm toward Cure Spark, just as she's getting hit with a deep-freeze-- and the freeze made the word 'pass' turn into something strained and attenuated, and the incantation takes the last word into itself, going lower and lower and finally turning into a subsonic vibration with the stress of syllabic chant.
That's a damn good thing, because the ice has completely encased her a half-second later.
In the same tempo as her voice called the attack, there's one beat. Then two. The break lasts a full four beats before the icecube around Bass shatters into a fine powder, immediately blown away with the rest of the snow; the shattering pop acts like a snare filtered through high-pass and a coffee can, and reverb draws it out into a jagged wubbing of the bass-line as she wails on her shadow-lightning axe, hothand giving a lightshow and picking out the strings as they sound in brilliant seafoam with the visualization of the beat.
The bass is still low enough to on and off hit the frequency that shatters ice, sound waves almost concussive in and of themselves. And oh, does the girl ever try to grab those spirits' attention.
"Freeze a little kid / make a little mess! / Let's pop off the lid / and suit up to impress! / Who-cares-if-we-hurt-a-ny-one / when-our-goal-is-just-to-have-fun? / -Wel-come to To-kyo! I'll be your WRECKING BALL!'''" she sings along with her playing, voice that electronically autotuned and delayed-out soprano so popular with the scene kids these days.
The snow is shattered, the clouds begin to scatter. The heavens are starting to clear up! Snow and Cloud pull away, going up higher in the air as the cover begins to part above the other group, revealing the sun. The snow wasn't falling anymore. The city might be saved! They mgiht be able to do this!
Down below, Freeze nad thunder were struck with magical perfume, being knocked back and sent flying. They were hurt. And then they flew up and into the heavens! Both freeze and thunder disappearing into the clouds, hiding away for the moment. Oh, that couldn't be good...
Flora frowns at the fleeing Freeze and Thunder, walking over to Kanata and smiling at him. "Should we go further up?" If Freeze and Thunder ran away, it meant it was a little safer to go up, right? Right?
Spark quickly looks over at the Jiaying. She smiles and nods to her. "Help Bass-chan. Keep these things off me. This girl in the ice block is the only way to finish this. I am going to get her out."
She quickly moves away from her safe spot. She rapidly turns her prebrace dial. "Spark Sprite Eruption!" She launches herself upward and the area under the ice block errupts with red sprite lightning. It looks like a volcano going off. The heat alone would be enough to start melting the ice a little but its not enough. She quickly sticks the landing right on top of the frozen Sakura. "Time to Change!"
Immediately she loads the two cards needed into the prechan mirror. "Pretty Cure Rolling Mirror Change! Rock Candy Break Dance!" She calls out as the area around her turns pink with rocks flying around. She is quickly in a rather flashy almost 80's like dance outfit.
"Spark Terran Jackhammer!" Some nice break beats rap stats playing as Spark begins break dancing on top of the frozen girl. Then with a quick move she is up with her whole body on one hand. She begins bouncing. On The ground this would cause earthquakes. On top of an ice block that is her friend? Its sending shockwaves through the ice, breaking it and hopefully within a moment or so, freeing Sakura.
Prince Kanata looks over to Flora as the two weird creatures go up into the clouds. He purses his lips a little in thought as he replies to Flora "If they ran away- either they're working on leaving- or somethign worse is about to happen." he says. "We better get up while we can." he says.
He squints a bit. Is there a fight going on up there?
Also with that... strange... (Kanata is too polite to admit he doesn't like it much.) music?
Jiaying Maki isn't a fan of the music either, but she listens to something equally abrassive, so she doesn't comment on it. Besides, it's magical and that's.... something. Right? Her ears are pinned back because it's rather loud though. Spark's comment gets a nod from her and she says, "Your call." before hurrying over just in time to see the two dart up into the clouds. What can she do? She dances back and forth a few times and eventually settles on an idea.
She's not at all sure this is going to work as she flips out a wide row of charms, six this time, alternating between two sets of patterns. She finalizes the outer two last. The two sets of charms spin away from her in different directions. She's trying to clear the clouds away, creating two gusts of wind, though she's not at all sure if this will work, or if she's got the magical talent to do more than make neat gusts of wind. There was one way to find out though!
Bass-chan's glowing eyes narrow briefly to slits in mild confusion as the sound dies down and sputters out, and her magic bass guitar fades from view. She watches Spark finish breaking the ice -- so to speak -- then glances at anyone else still at the level of the exploded ice cube and the girl who was, until recently, inside it. Then she lands on the platform, glowing sea-green lightblades vanishing from her feet and leaving her at her actual height, which is five feet even. She clatters stompy-boot-style over to where Sakura's about to collapse out of an exploding ice cube and de-henshins the second after the ice explodes in her face, immediately shrugging out of her parka.
She's actually a pretty girl, shoulder-length straight sea-green hair looking windblown, Seishou high school uniform on under a hoodie under the parka, even if she's got a couple interesting facial piercings and scenester makeup.
The parka's straightaway bundled around Sakura and Mizudori Teion crouches next to her to help her up if she needs it. She glances up at the other magical kids. "Better go after them. I don't think making 'em stop will actually make them stop."
Her hoodie sleeve is dark with blood.
Sakura Kinomoto is suddenly free! With Spark's attack, the ice shatters and she begins to collapse, falling to her side and groaning. Kero lands besides her a moment later, the wand clattering to the ground.
"S-sakura. T-there's... too many. The cards shouldn't be... working together... like... huh?"
Sakura looked around, confused. She then yelped, her cheeks going red when she saw her friends. She lightly tapped her cheeks. "I-I'm up! I'm up, I'm..." And her eyes were brought up... and up.. .and up.
The card captor was awake. The ards knew their danger... and so they were gathering things up. A pillar of clouds, snow and ice had formed above and, coursing through it... the thunder raced. And then the pillar came rocketing down AT them! Sakura shrieked and covered her head.
Pfft, like that'd do any good. That thing was probably going to take out the whole TOWER if they didn't do something.
Flora's enhanced speed means that she reaches the top of the tower in sight of that threatening pillar. "..Uh... oh..." She swallows, offering up a brief, inarticulate and silent prayer for success. She might not be particularly powerful, but... Sakura is cute and sweet, and she has to try. She doesn't see Mizudori's bleeding arm, not now.
"Dance, o flowers!" Her voice is commanding, forceful, as she mentally throws everything she has into this next attack. "Pretty Cure Floral Tourbillon!" Compared to what she'd done earlier, this was... more. There were more petals, and the breeze kicked up was significantly more forceful. It wasn't the kind of thing she could sustain, but-- she focused, willing the turbulent wind and flowers between those on the top of the tower and the card-spirits.
Spark definitely doesn't look like her normal Precure self right now. She quickly moves and brushes off Sakura, "You've got work to do. I'd suggest getting to it before Tokyo is buried under much more snow then it's ever been."
Thats when things start looking really freaky. She calls out, "If you can't block this get out of the way. Its about to get nasty!" She quickly moves to get ready. She turns her prebrace, "Spark Cavern Swipe!" She quickly begins dancing again. Quicky she drops an arm down to the area beneath her. She kicks up twisting her body. A Cavern like barrier forms overtop her, Sakura, and anyone close to her. It would be pink and have all the consistancy of rock. "I hope thats strong enough to hold for now."
Jiaying Maki looks back over her shoulder, about to comment on something when she sees the falling doom. There's a brief moment of thought, trying to figure out what she can do. She darts over to the group near Sakura while saying, "May want to move!" before she flourishes her hand, a series of charms appearing. The first two get burned with symbols for earth and lightning, set to either side of the small gathering. A grounding spell maybe? She's still not fully sure it's going to work, but it's worth a shot! The next series are for intense flames, burning from blue, to white as they hang before her, sizzling briefly. She winces, quickly sending them up, one after the other, staggered in an attempt to split the pillar to either side of the group! Either way though, spells off, she quickly turns, offers her hands out to both and says, "Really, really should move now!"
Well that looks mightly unpleasent.
Prince Kanata taps his scepter to the ground and summons up a mighty and large barrier. It in fact, encompasses a good portion of the top of the tower.
Of course, such a barrier is taking up a lot of focus and energy and he's already put a lot into other barriers tonight.
He's hoping he won't have to keep this up too long. He's hoping the others are more able.
"Keep it up!" he urges. "We obviously have them worried." he offers through stammer.
The storm is reformed with pinpoint accuracy all of a sudden, and aimed directly at them, blasting forward and down violently! The girl in the hoodie has just enough time to look up in alarm, and then a wild-eyed reckless case of something between pure DGAF and mortal terror. She can taste the adrenaline at the back of her teeth, sharp and bright and electric like chewing on tinfoil, and she lets out a breathless and choked little laugh of disbelief. "Kuso," she says, barely audible, glancing around the wide open platform for anything resembling shelter, and there's nothing.
She half crab-walks, half scrambles and stumbles over to the corner girders to hang on so she can at least avoid getting blown clean off the platform. Maybe. And she turtles there in a tiny ball of a crouch, head ducked down, one arm threaded through the latticeworked steel where it'll break if she's not careful, other held to her chest.
The ice and lightning comes hurtling down! It's first piece of resistance is Jia's attack! The fire courses across its surface, and, while it's not enough to destroy it, large chunks of it are torn apart. Then it collides with the princes barrier. The end had been damaged and a sound like a drill through a magical piece of metal is heard. Sakura screams and covers her ears, obviously scared. well, she is the youngest one here and had had a bad day.
The barrier shatters but large chunks of the pillar are gone, in fact, when it finally strikes Storm's barrier, the final one, it is only a fraction of its original sound. The sound of screams and shattered storm hits the air and then... the clouds are torn apart. Thunder and freeze are sent flying off, crashing to the ground below.
Snow and cloud are up above now, clear to see for everyone. Eeping a little. And Sakura was still terrified she was going to die, holding her head and shrieking.
Flora has long enough, and just enough energy to call out to Sakura before she tips over like a sack of unbalanced potatoes. "Sakura-chan! Now!" And then there's a pretty hefty thud. Had that been physical, Haruka would have pulled something. As it is, her transformation reverses, and it's a good thing she's swaddled in many layers, because she's out cold.
Spark quickly lets the Rock Candy Break Dance henshin break. She's back to her Precure outfit. "Sakura, You're with me. Its time to end this nightmare!" She lifts off pulling Sakura along with her.
Within moments they are both up with the Cards. Cure Spark is tired. Tired of this fight. Tired of rworry about her friends today. Just exhausted. And now she's staring at these Card elements again and is likely about to be attacked again.
She glares at the and quickly hits her prebrace. "Light of Curiosity, Become Sacred Power!" Things start getting bright violet with plenty of lightning striking all around. "Love Prebrace!" She continues going through the motions as a pair of lightning bolts intersecting, appear behind her. "Pretty Cure! BALL LIGHTNING!" The symbol turns into an electrical ball and goes flying at the two cards and wraps them up in a ball of energy. Spark looks at Sakura and nods. Its now or never!
Prince Kanata watches the attack get blocked and takes a deep breath. Things are better now. Right? Right. Spark, and the others seem to have this well in hand. Flora meanwhile. Just dropped like a sack of potatoes.
"!!!" it's a gasp. Not a pleasent one either.
The others have this in check. He is not a fighter. Not at his heart like these others here. Not like the Precure.
He'll make his move to go try to grab Haruka, and frown a bit.
"Haruka, are you alright? or awake?" he asks sternly. Yes. He's gonna Princess carry her home at this rate.
Maybe on a horse also at this rate.
Jiaying Maki looks between her tags, both smoldering before burning away in a flash of green. That causes her to wince, but at least the thing splintered and broke. She's going to actually study after tonight! That's for sure. Darting over to Sakura, she crouches down near her and says, "Come on, we're okay. You need to help u out if what.." she scowls and murmurs, "Name..name..." and shakes her head. "They're yours right? can you get them under control? Her voice surprisingly calm for what just happened. Maybe she'll freak out later.
She looks to Mizudori clinging on for dear life and holds a finger up to Sakura while saying, "One moment." before hurrying over to help her out too.
Sakura holds on, yelping a little but nodding. Cloud and Snow are bound up and, after a moment, she lifts her wand. "Return to your original form! Clow cards!" The cards gather up their magic and, slowly, fly up into the air. Once she's set back down, even from the top of the tower, the magic is able to form in front of her, the cards lifting into the air.
Almost instantly the air begins to warm up. Down below they can hear the sounds of the snow and ice beginning to crack. No longer guided by the magic, all around the clouds begin to disperase, allowing the sun to peak through and soon it is a bright, far, far warmer day. Not warm. But warmer. In the next few days the snow would probably all clear.
That did, however, leave the cards. The four cards floated in the air, before soon hovering in front of the people... Cloud hovered in front of jia, thunder in front of hope, snow in front of spark and freeze in front of haruka.
Sakura fell to her knees. "I-I don't want to do that again," she groaned. "I thoguht you said it was just one card..."
"I said it felt like a powerful card and you should have gotten backup. I never imagined it would have been four of them," Kero said with a frown. "That's... rare."
Cure Spark Breathes deeply and exhales sharply. She looks at the card in front of her. "Wow you caused some serious trouble." She states to the card. Her attention shifts to Sakura. "Are you alright?" She holds onto the card for now and she quickly looks for Lilac.
It takes a few minutes but Lilac does come out. She sneezes. "I umm... Yay!!! You *AAHHCHOOO!* You did it Spark! Yay!" She frowns, "I think I need to go to bed." She whines.
Spark smiles and pulls the fairy close. "Just don't get me sick! Please?" She asks happily. Not happy that the fairy is sick. Happy that she is okay.
The green-haired girl hides behind Jia until the last of the capture is over, and then whumphs to her knees and breathes out a little shakily for a second.
Then her face colors with embarrassment and she gets to her feet, weaving a little, but puts on her best tsundere face. "Thanks, it's fine. I gotta go. I have a date with a jerk I'm gonna tell off because he doesn't think it's a date because he's a jerk, bye."
Sharp inhalation, and at least it's only hoodie-cold now instead of parka-cold, even if it's a little parka-cold, but she's too ... something, to go back and ask Sakura for her coat. If she even knows where it is. If she's wearing it or if it fell off the tower. She wasn't cool, for like two whole minutes, and she has to get out of here.
Head held high and arm hugged to her chest, Mizudori walks over to the elevator and pushes the button, then stands there awkwardly as she waits for it to come get her. Stands a little bit out of sight around the side. So that they don't think she's still here and won't notice her anymore.
If Prince Kanata was a boy of a different stripe, he'd have a number of choice words for this predicament, all of which would require Shamour to shove a bar of soap straight into his mouth then duct tape it there for a week. Luckily, he doesn't swear. But he does mutter something frustrated under his breath.
A card floats down in front of him. "Huh...?" he asks as he muses on it. "I think this is yours." he says to Sakura, who... obviously is some importance here.
Kanata has gotten his share of Mascot lectures. He knows what they mean.
"I need to get her someplace safe." he says. As there's a /flash of purple light/. And suddenly there is a white horse there. He gently helps Haruka up to the horse, then himself after. She's sort of cradled up front against him so she won't go flying off.
As for flying off. That is what the horse literarly does. Through the air- toward's the East. To Verone. She had a dorm there. Right?
Jiaying Maki isn't upset about being a shield for someone, though the overall experience is rather odd. She snatches the card out of midair in case it tries to do anything else. The girl leaving gets a brief, "H-hey, are you alright?" Pointing to where she sees red, but she's not pushing too hard. From there she hurries over to the others, shaking as much ice and snow loose as she can. There's a look around, then she shakes her head and tail out. No one saw that. Doesn't matter if they did.
"Are you all alright?" She asks, offering the card out hesitantly, "These are yours right? They're not rampant summoned things are they? Because I already know one person that did that and I had to yell at her for that." And ward the basement of a mansion. And other walls. And set up alarms. She was thorough alright?
Sakura Kinomoto blinked as the girl already was on the run. She paused and then... Ran after her! Barely caught her at the elevator and... "Thank you for helping me," she said with a smile before giving her a hug. Completely unaware that she was hurt. She then turned and walked back to the others, her arms around herself. She was in normal pants and pink coat. Freezing. "I ummm..." She looked around and then gasped.
"W-w-what happened? How long was I stuck in there? I got here around sunrise!" That was many, many, many hours ago. And about aquite a few feet of snow, too.
"What happened to... everyone?" She knew Spark, flora and Jia, at least! And had to resist... you know what, screw it. There was a fox girl and Sakura was cold. Jia got a hug. Then looked to the prince. "I ummm... don't think we've met," she said with a nervous smile. And then he was off! Carrying the princess! But hey, he got the cards. She took out her pen and signed them, before glancing to Spark. "Is... is it okay?" She then looked to jia. "N-no! They aren't bad or anything, I swear. They're just... scared. That's all. Now I have..." She paused. "Oh, wow. 11 of them. Only 41 to go," she said happily, writing her name on it. "I... did kind of release them. But I didn't summon them. They're reeally good once you get to know them."
Cure Spark looks at Sakura and snickers, "You've been out for a few hours at least. We've all been doing our best to stop those cards. They dumped several feet of snow onto the city. Talk about nuts! Things just got really nasty." She hands over the card to Sakura.
She looks down at Lilac, "She will likely be a little under the weather for a few days but I think she will be fine. She was worried about me. I feel bad for her."
She turns and looks at the others present. "Hiya, Sorry, I didn't mean to be bossy while we were fighting. I don't like doing tha."
