It's evening. But not quite late-late night. But that means it's the perfect time for flying practice. Reiko is slowly getting better at the flying around bit. She feels ready to try carrying someone. She wonders who to call, as she scrolls through her phone contacts. oh! Nagisa! ... well Nagisa mentioned not having a phone. Maybe she sees stuff on a computer's IM client instead.
Reikoi > Hey Nagisa! I'm gonna pratice flying tonight! ><> . I'm trying to find out how easy it is to carry people while I fly~ Would you like to help out? ^_^
She leaves an address to meet her at. This is a busstop in the upper part of downtown. Reiko is sitting on the bench swinging her legs back and forth and idly waiting for Nagisa to come around.
Nagisa takes a while to respond. She doesn't have any electronics that are really 'personal', so she has to wait until the computer is open, and then actually ask permission to use it. That might explain why the little icon by her name has been set to 'away' for a very, very long time. Almost as soon as it turns to 'online' she responds.
Asigan2007 > Hi Reiko!
Asigan2007 > I'm sorry I didn't say anything earlier. I really need to bug Papa into giving me my own phone. Um.... let me ask him if it's okay to go out so late.
Asigan2007 > He said yes! I'll be there as soon as I can! ^_^
She waits for a reply and not long after her tag ticks to 'offline' as she runs off to the address given to her. Eventually she runs up to Reiko, raising her hand and waving from a distance. "Sorry I took so long!"
Reiko Touyama beams at Nagisa. "Hiiiii Nagisa-chan~" she says as she hops to her feet. "Come on. Let's uh. Get into an alley. Because I'm not gonna transform out in the open." she says. She walks into a side alley behind the busstop--- luckily, this is the good side of town--- and pulls her chroma crystal out. "Chroma Prism Orange! Transform!" she calls out. She transforms. It's very orange. And two koi tie a hairbow---one becomes the clip in the middle of the bow. It's really obsentatiously cute.
She beams! "Um... You don't need to transform. I know that. It'd be a silly reason. for you to waste your powers. and all like that." she says with a meek sound. "But. You trust me... not to drop you, right?" she asks softly. "I'll try to keep fairly low..." she says.
Nagisa gives her friend a quick bow when she gets close even though she waved, "Hi, Reiko-chan! It's really good to see you again." She nods and follows the older girl into the alleyway, happily watching the orange and koiful transformation, giggling and clapping her hands as the one koi turns into a hairclip.
She's just about to transform herself when Reiko stops her, and she blinks a little. The thought of potentially falling a long distance did cross her mind, or getting run into a building. It wouldn't matter at all if she was transformed! But there's more than just that to worry about. "It would be safer, but you're right that it would use up a bit of magic." She makes a little face, "I trust you not to hurt me, but... do you have a way to disguise me? I think Papa would be ill if I ended up on TV or in a newspaper because you were carrying me around."
Reiko Touyama blinks blinks. Does she have a way to disguise Nagisa? She thinks for a moment. "This...won't hurt. Just going to give you a little color energy..." she says. She raises her wand, points it at Nagisa and calls out. "Infuse!". A small beam of light emits from the wands center and hits Nagisa!
Nagisa is now a bright shades of differing colors of orange. skin. clothes. everything. It doesn't make her feel much different, but it does make her orange colored.
Prism Keeper Orange sorts of blinks. And blushes. "Ah---that doesn't look very good at all!" she says with a whine.
"Diffusion!" she calls out. The color fades from Nagisa. And she's back to normal.
"Maybe... you outta just transform. Just transforming, and not fighting-- won't put you at risk. Right?" she asks.
Holding still while Reiko fills her with color, she blinks a little and looks down at her hands. "I'm a carrot!" she exclaims, looking over her clothes, twisting a little and looking over her shoulder. Even her hair is orange!
She looks slightly relieved when she's less monochrome again, "I don't look nearly as good as you do with a bunch of orange on me. Sorry, Reiko-chan." She giggles a little.
Then with a little shake of her head she holds out her hand and her ring transforming into it's egg shaped Soul Gem form in her palm. "Transforming doesn't take much magic at all. It's usually attacking or healing or doing other more impressive things that use a whole bunch."
Of course with Reiko's adorable transformation she uses just a bit of extra magic to do so herself. Her form is obscured by the sudden appearance of illusory baked goods and other sweets, and around them is written in unfortunately unreadable runes, 'Ingredients to make a magical girl: Sugar, Spice, Everything Nice!' Then milk seems to pour into an invisible mold of Nagisa, and once it fills up her henshined form pops into existence, the girl throwing her arms wide, "Ta da!"
Reiko Touyama watches Nagisa's transformation... is that. Cheese? No. Just milk. But... milk becomes cheese. Right? Really, Reiko just marvels at the transformation sequence as she beams. "Alright then. But.. if you need to untransform... or something. Just lemme know so I can place ya done somewhere---hopefully not too roughly." she says embarassedly.
And so Reiko scoops up Nagisa, sort of practically princess carries her. "Okay then!..." she says. "Here... I go..." she says.
Then Reiko jumps up with a 'erf!', before her wings start fluttering and carrying the two upwards. She only hovers in the air about 3 feet at first. "Okay... this actually doesn't seem to bog my wings down. At least. That I can feel." she says. She floats higher and higher up the alley, being careful not to scrape against the sides of it, as she reaches roof level.
"Okay... uh. I can do just hovering up fine I guess." she says.
"You um. Ready for me to actually take us somewhere?" she asks. "Rides gonna be... a little rough." she admits. "You don't.. get airsick, do you Nagsia-chan?" she asks.
Nagisa is still posing when she gets scooped up, trying to look adorable and getting caught off guard for it. "Wah!" she cries with surprise, flailing lightly in a way that might throw Reiko off at first.
But almost as soon as her feet are off the ground she is focusing on the sensation of being suspended in the older girl's arms. "Wow, we're really floating!" she exclaims, even when they're only a foot or two off the ground. She's jumped pretty high before, but it's an entirely different sensation. "Don't worry about me, Reiko-chan, I'll be just fine. This is something I don't think I'd ever be able to do on my own!"
Adjusting to the way she's being carried she moves her arms around Reiko's neck and gives the brightly orange girl an excited smile, "I'm ready! Don't worry about it being rough at all." At the last question she blinks a little, "I don't think I do?" she offers in what might be a less reassuring voice than Reiko might have hoped for.
Prism Keeper Orange is thinking, oh god don't get airsick, don't get airsick! Regardless, she floats juuuuust a little higher to get over rooftops. Then she takes off and forward. It's not super straight, still very much flying a little bit like a drunk butterfly. Nagisa may or may not find this feeling super great. At least, this high in the air, there's nothing to really hit!.....
....except wind.....
Which suddenly brushes right up against her and throws her off course into a tiny spiral to the right.. "Eeek!" she goes.
"A..ahhh- wind... are you okay Nagisa-chan?" she asks.
"Lemme know if you want down." she asks.
Nagisa is looking around excitedly as they climb altitude, and even getting a short ways above the rooftops has her beaming brightly. "It's amazing up here. I'd be doing this every day just for fun if I was you, Reiko-chan." The oddness of their course doesn't seem to bother her too much, though when the wind catches them and they go spinning around her eyes roll a bit even after they recover.
"Uuu, I feel really dizzy..." she comments, head wobbling a bit. Luckily it doesn't look like it's made her queasy at all. "N-no! I don't mind getting dizzy if it means we can keep flying."
She loosens up her grip a little and leans slightly away from Reiko to look out a bit more, "You can move pretty fast across the city when you don't have to use the roads."
Prism Keeper Orange ahs.. "I guess, it is kinda neat. I can travel places faster. But... it's... it's pretty useless... in a fight." she murmurs sadly a bit. Oh, that's right. Ugh. "I... um. I fought a girl named Griselda. She's... um. I told you. That. The Prism Keeper stuff. Was all a story, right?" she says. "Well. Griselda is kind of the villian of the story. So. I guess whatever happened, made /all/ the stuff real in it. and...." she kind of slows down her flying. "I'm afraid. In.. in the story. It took practically an entire team of Prism Keepers to even get her to stand down, let alone defeat her. And-- and the only reason she didn't shatter my chroma crystal and kill me was because a friend was with me- and I had dumb luck. If I was alone...." she kind of looks down a bit.
"....is that how you feel... sometimes? About the things you deal with, Nagisa-chan?" she asks.
"If it is... I understand now." she manages a slight nod.
"I'm just scared now. Because there's no telling when she'll come back at me again." she says worriedly.
Nagisa tilts her head, "I don't think it'd be useless! Even if your not really fast right now there's nothing saying you won't eventually be. And if you had to fight in a huge lava pit you'd have a real edge over someone who couldn't fly." Secretly Nagisa is hoping there is never such a thing as a Volcano Witch after saying that.
She blinks a little at the mention of Griselda, "Then... then it sounds like you need more friends! Until there is a whole team of Prism Keepers," she says this as if it will be a fact, because as far as Reiko's told her everything else in the story has come to pass, "I can help you! And even after that, if you want. If you help me fight witches, I'll have more magic to be able to help you with!"
Things turn personal and worrysome, and she hugs tightly onto Reiko, partly for the other girl's benefit, and partly for her own. "I would be dead if people hadn't helped me. I know that it's true... I've had to rely on other people to teach me the things I need to know to survive, and even give me grief seeds just because they didn't want to see me suffer."
She bites her bottom lip a little, not sure how much to reassure her friend, or how much further to talk about herself. "Being a magical girl is scary, and complicated. The only way to make it through is to have really good friends. Friends like you, Reiko-chan!"
Prism Keeper Orange blushes a bit and looks down. "Well...it's nice that you know people who are willing to help, too!" she says with a smile. "...and I meant that! I really wanna help you, too!" she says. She head tilts a bit. "Yeah. More Prism Keepers...." she says meekly. "We know who one other is. But.. Red cares a lot for her, and doesn't want to give her the Chroma Crystal that belongs to her. That's Prism Keeper Pink, who is Red's little sister. I agree with Red on this. I'd feel bad forever if something happened to Pink...." she says.
"For the others... well. I dunno. I guess... they're going to find thier new owners when they're ready...." she admits.
"I hope that's sooner. Rather than later. I can see... why Red needed a break." she says with a huff. Suddenly, she looks forward. Woah! Billboard on a building, she has to veer hard to the right and somehow manages to spin in place for a moment while avoiding it.
"Ah---haha I should pay more attention to where I'm going!" she says.
She blushes. "But. Yeah. I'll help you. I promise. That's a super duper koi promise!" she says. A koi materalizes over her right shoulder. Winks while giving a thumbs up with a fin. Then poofs again.
Reiko catches the sparkles from it's poofing away. "Okay, what did that one do?" she asks.
She blushes a bit. "I don't always see them..."
It's time for Nagisa to make a little face while being flown around in Reiko's arms. "Just because someone is young doesn't mean they're not ready for combat." That's a bit of a sore spot for her! "And remember what you said before, about Red having to fight all alone and not wanting to get you involved? She might feel very bad that she could have been able to help the both when you needed her. I understand wanting to protect family, I really do. But I think that's a decision she should be able to make for herself, especially if you know it's her. As bad as you would feel if she got hurt fighting, how much worse would it be if she needed the power to fight but didn't have it?"
Her feelings on the subject made fairly obvious, she gives Reiko a small hug, "You know I'll help you if I'm ever around when you need it." She really, really needs to get her dad to let her have her own phone!
Then suddenly they're veering, and she lets out a sharp sound that at first seems like a cry of worry but reveals itself as excited laughing as the flight steadies, "It's just like a roller coaster!"
A softer giggle comes as the adorable koi appears, "It winked at me and made a cute gesture with it's fin. I'm a little jealous of your koi. They're so cute and I think they're always watching over you. Guardian koi angels!"
Prism Keeper Orange blinks and narrows her eyes. "Hrmmmmm......" she says. "I wonder..." she just shakes her head. She can test that later. Right now, she needs to concentrate on flying and talking. She looks down. "Your're right. Giving her the crystal would make mine and Red's life easier maybe--- But she's still someone special to us. Also, I guess it's more up to Red than me. Her sister. Not mine. I think Red might bury me in roses if I did it!" she giggles a bit.
"Oh. That's right. Red uses roses. She also has... this really awesome rhyming justice speech. But. That doesn't really work for me..." she says.
"I mean. Nothing. Ryhmes with orange." she says, looking forward against. "So I guess maybe my koi make up for the fact I don't get a cool speech!" she insists.
She hovers down to the top of a building and places her feet down. "I need to give my wings a rest. Just a moment." she says.
"I might be more skeptical if I had a little sister," the white haired girl admits. "Maybe if I better knew about the dangers of being a Prism Keeper. Griselda sounds dangerous." She doesn't say it, but she's thinking that she would never let a little sister become a Puella Magi, not unless she had something amazing that she felt the wish was worth. There are just so many downsides, and most of them come as quite the shock.
"Roses are pretty, but koi are much cuter," Nagisa agrees with a little giggle. She tilts her head a little and hums, "Maybe you should rhyme something other than orange? I bet a lot of words rhyme with koi." she offers, "Toy, boy, joy~"
Then as they land she nods her head. After a moment of just resting in Reiko's arms as the Prism Keeper stands on the building top she blushes a little.
Prism Keeper Orange kind of frowns. "Griselda is dangerous. The only reason I beat her back was because... Cute Wolf Tsukiko-- a friend of mine who's a werewolf. I mean. A good one." she says. "Was there. She was able to cleanse the Shade that was backing Grisleda up. Then I was able to use the released color energy to send it back through Griselda with the Chroma Pallete Cleanser. It isn't even an attack. It's just used to release stolen colors. I was just lucky." she says.
"I was in the hospital for a few days, because she sent me into the sidewalk, and I cratered it pretty hard. Doctors really buy the 'hit by a car' easily." she sheepishly admits.
"And my grandpa was super upset that I got hit and it felt bad that I couldn't really tell him what happened..."
The young Puella Magi nods her head as she listens, "I'm glad your friend was there to help you. And... I didn't know you were in the hosptial, Reiko-chan! I would definitely have come and visited you and brought you treats and done my best to make you feel better." She closes her eyes for a few moments, squeezing them tightly for a second or two of that. "I'm a terrible friend..." she mutters quietly to herself.
She's already being carried, but she hugs Reiko extra close despite that, "I don't want anyone I care about to be in the hospital. I hate them. I hate them so much!"
Prism Keeper Orange frowns. "H--hey!" she says, but she hugs back. "That's not your fault. I wasn't even in there for two full days. Red didn't get to visit me." she smiles. "And Red's my best friend ever, and I'm not holding it against her! So you don't need to worry!" she smiles. "Besides... uh. You. Don't have a phone. I could call." she says with a blush. "So no worries!" she says with a beaming smile.
She leaps up wards and resumes flying. "....hey I think that's Midori-ya over there...... do you want a snack before we head home?" she asks with a smile.
"I bet they haven't closed yet!" she says.
Nagisa nods a little as she's hugged back, relaxing a little and not wanting to make her friend feel worse when she was the one who actually got hurt. "I would have come if I had known," she offers, but it sounds weak to her ears.
Luckily the joy of flying is enough to bring her spirits back up, and that along with the prospect of a treat is enough to stop the threat of any tears forming in her eyes. "Can we? I've only been there once, but their deserts were really good. Especially the doughnuts," she says, sounding a little far off, as if she's lost in the memory. "You're teaching me how amazing it is to fly, so the snack will be on me!"
