Unmei Tama was laying on a couch, waiting for her so called 'partner'. She wasn't surprised, honestly. She'd been having failure after failure after... well, it was to be expected they'd want someone to keep an eye on her. She just wished they were more tactful about it. She was laying with her legs dangling over the side, on her back.
She couldn't stop thinking about Yuzu, though. She really ,really hoped she didn't do something stupid. Doing stupid things was supposed to be HER job. Guhhhhh. A bag of chips were laying out besides her, which she was plowing through. That and like... five other big bags, now empty, were laying besides her. Gluttony was a heck of a ride and she really, really wished ANY of the other emotions would be playing to her right now. Gosh she missed pride. She could not afford to keep eating like this. Well, she could, since she now had a snack fund from eclipse because, technically, the calories were converted into magic. But still.
Her partner would be arriving soon, apparently they were supposed to be working together and just... doing stuff. She didn't know WHAT an 'embryo' was supposed to be. But hey, them's the breaks.
Video Game club has come and gone. Where is Airi though? Certainly not there. No. She's been ordered back to Easter Corps after school ended. She was informed that she would be paired up with a partner. She should have expected it. She's not producing the Embryo and not doing enough to make them happy. That means she needs someone watching her every move to make sure she doesn't mess up anymore. Its really nasty thing.
Now outside of the building, Airi quietly makes her way to the meeting spot. She isn't dressed in her school uniform right now. No. She's dressed in black for the time being. A black outfit accented in cyan. Quietly, she moves towards the girl sitting on the bench.
Floating along with her is Vidya. The little Chara who just seems to be playing a tiny hand held game. She's a little silly. "Woo Hoo! High Score!!! You can't beat this one Mirage!" She giggles a little.
Unmei Tama was inside a room waiting. Once Airi came in she'd be directed to a room in the main office. A representative from Umbra. Wonderful.
When she came in Unmei glanced up. "Hey! Nice shirt. Its cute," she said with a grin. "Oh you got one of the leprachaun people. How cute! So you're my new partner then?" she was young at least. her age.
Unmei Tama jumped to her feet and walked over. She held out her hand and smiled. "I'm Unmei. You're the embryo girl, right?"
Airi looks at Unmei curiously as she walks in. She quietly moves to take a seat beside the girl. She's not really been to UMBRA too much. Enough to be given credentials and such. As she looks at the woman she smiles a little. "Um Hi." She states as she looks around.
Then there is that. "Embryo Girl?" She sighs. "I am supposed to find the Embryo, yes." She shrugs, "My name is Airi Nakahara and this is Vidya." She gestures to the Chara that is flying around. "She's not a leprachaun. She's a Guardian Character. She's the embodiment of everything I want to be basically." She laughs.
Vidya flies up on Unmei curiously. "Yeah! I'm not some silly Irish Fairy Tale! I'm way too cool for that!" She laughs and goes back to playing her little game.
Unmei Tama nodded slowly as she listened in to it. "I see. so you want to... be short and tiny? Or like... hmmmm... you wanna... make robots? Be a pro gamer? Something like that?" She reached out and grabbed her hair. You have nice hair, what product do you use?"
Personal space unmei! "i'm maagical girl clotho. controller of fate and wielder of sins. what do you do?"
Airi Nakahara looks at Unmei, "I want to design video games. Its what I've wanted since my parents got me my first game system." She smirks and looks at her Chara fondly. Then her hair is grabbed and checked out. "HEY! OWWW!" She winces and tries to protect her head. "I just use baking soda and water with some orange oil mixed in!" She quickly breaks herself free and quickly tries to put it back the way it was.
She smiles, "My name is Random Encounter, I use a vertual reality game of my own making with the help of Easter Corps to draw out a person's heart's egg and put a pretty little X on it." She smiles just a little darkly. "In other words I force a person's hopes and dream out of them. I turns them dark and leave the person in dispair." There is a pained look in her eyes.
Unmei Tama nods a few times. "Oh make video games? Thats pretty cool. What kind you wanna build? Anything good?" She pulled a hand back."Oh sorry! Its cute. you should let me braid it."
"Random encounter? that is so adorably dorky! I cant believe you go out like that." Shr then blinked. "Wait. you do... that? Do they... get them back? Or do they just... live in despair forever?"
Airi Nakahara smiles a little. "That would be cool I think." She smiles. "Well my ideas right now lend themselves to RPGs though one of them would be really fun as a as a First Person Shooter. Maybe a First Person shooter RPG hybrid. That could be really cool." She laughs a little.
Then the million dollar question. "Well umm."
Vidya laughs and cuts her off right there. "When an X-egg is made it makes the owner of that egg sink into dispair. If the egg is purified, it returns to its owner and they break out of dispair. If anything happens to the egg itself. Like it being broken, The owner will lose that dream forever. It will be viewed as impossible. Its a really bad thing and I wouldn't wish it on anyone." Vidya frowns.
Unmei Tama nodded slowly. "Really? Those games are fun! I used to love those ones. Leveling with actual action and movement is a blast. turn based vbores me soooo much these days. Good stories somestimes though. You got any demos?"
"Wait thats it? does it upset you? Like if thats all just make sure the egg gets purified. I mean theres dozens of magical girls in tokyo. besides. some dreams are impossible so maybe its better they give up on them. Are you supposed to break them?" She chuckled. "I overwhelm people with their worst sin and make them steal magic for me. but the magical girls come and stop jt then I get the magic. Easy peasy."
Airi Nakahara smiles, "Well I have the one I helped make from easter. Its an action game fueled by your own dreams. Nothing flashy. Its immersive but it's not something I would suggest messing with. I use it to make the opening to bring out eggs."
She frowns. "Yes. Some of my associates do not see eye to eye with how to handle X-eggs. Some of them actively break them when they do not bring out the Embryo. Its a sick thing. I try to make sure that the egg gets purified but, its not like I can purify them myself. I hate this. If I could quit, I would but... If I am ever going to be a video game maker, I need help. Easter is holding the cards and told me that if I don't do what they say, I will never be a game maker. So... I do what I've got to do right?"
Unmei Tama nodded and giggled. "You should try making another then. A real game! Something with a cute girl fighting off bad guys. With lots of jumping and stuff. Oh and lasers. And swords!"
She nodded. "Ah. well screw them
Unmei Tama shook her head. "If you got the power and they cant do take it from you then they need you. If you want them purified just get them purified. Then get them the embryo they want. And if they complain say your powers are acting up because ypu feel sick. see how they try pushing you then. They're jack asses anyway."
Airi Nakahara hmms. She gets out a tablet and begins writing down ideas and stuff. It doesn't take too long as she is writing very quick. "Hmmm. An Action RP could work like that. Hmmm... Lasers, Swords... A Female Protag... Hmmm A Magical Girl game!" SHe laughs.
A little sigh escapes her lips. "Its a problem. I know sometimes Easter collects them. I don't know what they do with them or why they would collect them. Its honestly a little unsettling but... The ends justify the means right?"
She looks around. "Okay. Wanna see how this happens?"
Unmei Tama nodded. "Yeah. magical girls are awesome. One with cool magic changing powers too! Girl heroes are the best. Like samus! Shes awesome."
"Oh. yeah. in that case not a lot you can do since well you can't give up right? Besides i'd spent years thinking my dream was kmpossible. look at me now. I'm awesome. So it's not so bad. Not like you're killing anyone right?"
"Sure show me."
Airi nods and begins leading the way out of the UMBRA building. Her attention is instantly on the surroundings. She has her bag with her and Vidya has a pair of goggles on her face. "The first step is finding a good target." She looks around and spies a kid in a karate gi.
Vidya smirks, "Target!" She laughs and flies towards the kid in the Karate Gi.
Airi quickly moves towards them. "Hello there! I am an aspiring game creator and I have a game in Alpha testing. I am wondering if you would be willing to test out my game." She smiles reassuringly to the little kid.
The little kid's eyes light up and nods! Airi leads the small group to a small Alleyway to set up. She gets out a headset and starts setting up.
Unmei Tama nodded and followed after her, a big grin on her face. That doesn't seem bad at all. All things considered. "I think he thinks you're cute," she whispered to Airi. She was probably teasing.
She then glanced to vidya. "So. Did Easter give you to her? Or natural?"
Airi Nakahara quickly raises her hand and puts her finger to her lips. Then its back to the young boy. "Okay just a moment. I need to get things going." She pulls out a special VR helmet and puts it on the boy's head. "Okay here we go."
The game fires up. Suddenly the little boy believes he is fighting in a major martial arts tournament. "This is so cool! What is it called?!"
Airi snickers and looks at Vidya. Vidya winks and immediately things go very techno! Everything goes black and cyan lights flash all around. Airi is all smiles as her body glows. Vidya smiles and gives a little pose as her egg encases her. Airi brings the egg close to her heart and the egg enters into her body. She is suddenly dressed similar to the chara. Finally the transformation is complete.
"I like to call it..." She points at the boy. "Virtual Vacuum!" Instantly, A white egg emerges from the boys heart. It quickly turns black and a white X appears on it.
"Muri... Muri!" The egg whispers. Meanwhile the boy cries, "Hopeless. Its hopeless. I will never be able to do this. I can't do it." He flops down and just seems to be disolved in his misery.
Unmei Tama watched it all happen and then stared at the egg. "So like... is that the Embryo?" she asked with a cocked eye. "It doesn't look very... special. If its not how many of these eggs do you need to make or break before this embryo appears? And what is it supposed to be, anyway?"
She did grin none the less. "Though you on the other hand look totally awesome. You should make a game with yourself."
Airi Nakahara laughs, "Self insertion is frowned upon. People would say I was making a mary sue oc!" She laughs a little bit over that one before getting down to it. Her transformation fades and Vidya reappears.
"Thank you for testing my game. I hope you enjoy it in the future when it's released." She reclaims her VR system and puts it away. The X egg takes off. Part of her wants to chase and all Quietly she pulls out her cell and she texts Amu. 'I just seen an X egg! Its down town! I can't keep up with it. :(' she sends.
"Now then. Your questions. That was not the Embryo. The Embryo is supposed to be amazing." Her gaze goes to the sky as she looks around to see if the thing has appeared. Again, it hasn't. "I gotta step it up." She frowns. "No sign of it. Its supposed to be amazing and if you catch it, it can grant you wishes. What you just seen is an X-egg. The corrupted dreams of a person."
Then there is the other question. "Vidya was not given to me. I sorta prayed that maybe I could have this dream! Next thing I knew, there was this egg beside me. I freaked. Soon after, The egg hatched and out came Vidya."
Unmei Tama nodded. Far off in the distance Amu was on the move!
"Okay so like... how is this supposed to get you it then? I mean one random egg and you just hope its the embryo? If you wanna find it you shojld try to get like them by thr dozen or something. Or be more precise. Maybe you need to do it with someone who already has their dream. Or try it on someone with magic. This whole one person thing seems like a wastr of time if you ask me."
"Really? that... sounds nice. and shes nice to you? You're lucky. Having such a simple dream."
Airi Nakahara frowns, "There is nothing simple about that dream. Its really hard to go after. My dad told me I could never do it. I had saved up money to get into school School so I could be a game developer. My dad stole it. I worked so hard for it. He just took it and it sucked so bad!"
She frowns a little. "I am lucky. Vidya is still with me and I would be really lost without her. I love her dearly because well, she's sorta me!" She giggles.
"As for doing more then one at a time, I have an idea but it will take some time. I'll need to talk to Easter and work on a Multi-player version of my game."
Unmei Tama blinked a few times and then... her eyes narrowed. "That's what parents -do-," she said coldly. "Don't ever trust them. They'll say things like 'they love you' or 'I'll protect you', but they never mean it. All they ever do is care about their own needs and desires. The moment you don't follow the set path THEY give you, suddenly you're some kind of monster or idiot or fool." Her hands were crushing the bag of chips. "Don't listen to a WORD they say. EVER. If your dad says you can't do that. Fuck. Him. Let him die in a ditch for all you care. Because he can't stop you."
Someone had parent problems. She then nodded. "Sweeeeet. Try to make a non magic version, okay? I used to play games all the time back home. Not... much anymore, though. I'm a few generations behind at this point. But we should play sometime. Multi-player games are the best." A grin formed on her lips. "And... maybe I can help you. I've never made games before, but I do have a special talent that could make it easy to pick up."
Airi snickers. "Here!" She hands over the helmet to Unmei. "There is no magic in the game itself. Its designed to distract. Its why we used the VR medium. If you are watching the game universe you can't see me transform and call out a heart's egg."
She smiles a little. Also I can't call out the heart's eggs on magical types. They don't have one." She frowns, "It sucks, I found one the hard way and had to quickly cover my butt!" She smiles to Unmei. "Here is how it works. All Kids have an egg in their soul. The Egg of their hearts. Its the sum of all they want to be. Sometimes when that dream becomes strong enough, that egg is born into the real world. The thing is, over time, a child might attain their dream or they may let it go. So most adults don't have that egg anymore. So I have to target kids."
Unmei Tama nodded, playing the game and... oddly... she was pretty good at it. Well, assuming that someone who played it had been good. "Ohhhh, it's fun! I've never tried a vr game before!" ... For someone who never tried it, she... was... pretty good. Figuring out the controls and such almost instantly.
"That... kind of sucks. Can't blame people for giving up on their dreams. I mean, yours is at least attainable. You seem smart. If you can make a game, could always just release it on something simple. And with the company behind you, you'll probably make a ton of awesome games." She then paused. "But... not all dreams are really... attainable. So it's probably best they just give them up. Not everyone can be what they want to be. Some people won't ever get a chance...'
The game plays off of a person's dreams so the game resembles that sort of thing for Unmei. Airi is rather surprised at how quickly she is getting accustomed to the game. "Huh. Fast learner." She states softly.
"Well that is ture. Still Its not fun to take away someone's dreams. I can't believe someone would actually break people's eggs like that though. Its really horrible.
Unmei Tama shrugged. "I learn fast. It's my talent." She popped it off after a few minutes. Then cocked an eye.
"Really? How is that any worse than what happened to you? Your parents tried to destroy your dream, didn't they? They said you couldn't do it. Maybe they said you weren't smart enough, fast enough, good enough? How is that any different from trying to break your heart egg?" She leaned in a little closer. "And that's why we fight, isn't it? At least you're nice enough to let them get their heart -back-."
Airi snickers. "Maybe, It was their actions that let me cause Vidya to appear. I worked so hard for the money to go to school. My dad will never get the chance to hurt me again. I'm on my way to doing it. I'm almost there. I know it." She smiles a little.
She smirks, "So ummm, I go to school with the guardians. Some of them are enemies of Easter and All of Eclipse. I'm trying to keep who I work for a secret which means I have to make it look like I am helping them. They don't know I can transform."
Unmei Tama nodded. "Good. That's all parents do. Hurt their kids. You're in the right group now, Airi. I'm sure no matter what happens, you'll figure it out and you'll get your dream as long as you keep working at it."
She nodded. "The guardians? Really? Who are they? And that's pretty sneaky. If you want I can help you out. I already do some monster transforming things. Pretending to do that little.... egg thing shouldn't be too hard. Make sure no one knows it's you pulling stuff."
Airi snickers, "Little? Oh dear. The X-eggs are mischievous. They are pretty easy to deal with. Its what happens when they are left alone too long that things become fun. An X-egg will become an X-Chara. Imagine all the cute and fun that is Vidya in a very nasty package. Brimming with hate and anger. Pure hopelessness. Its a scary thing I had that happen not too long ago.
The Guardians protect the eggs. They have this whole royal structure thing. King, Queen, Jack, Joker... The Joker is the one I called to take care of the X-egg."
Unmei Tama nodded, grinning. "That sounds pretty fun to play with! I wanna see it sometime." She crossed her arms. "But, seriously. You need it, I'm there. I'm already kinda been... outed as one of the bad guys. So... taking the fall for your junk too isn't so bad." She gave a shrug.
"King, queen... oh my gosh that is SO dorky. Be thankful you don't need to join with them. Jack, joker? Seems less like a royal thing and more like a deck of cards. Do they have a deuce? A tres? MAybe a club or heart?" she said, snickering.
Airi Nakahara shrugs, "I think its only the face cards. I dunno. It is kinda nerdy and that is coming from me! I'm a nerd!" She laughs and wears that badge with pride. "I am sorta worried they might ask me to join them. If I play both sides that close... I'm just a little worried about it. Ya know?"
She looks at Unmei and smirks, "Unmei, I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship!" She snickers and extends a hand. "I don't mind if you take the fall for it. That will open the door for me to use what I know to really step up the game. If we can cause the embryo to appear, I'll get my dream. You could get yours too! Its just going to be tough!"
Unmei Tama nods. "Right, makes sense. If they ask, just tell them you're too scared. Tell them it looks dangerous and stuff and you're not sure you can handle it. Worse comes to worse, cry a bit. Crying always works. Especially at the king. No man can resist a crying girl."
She then blinked, taking her hand. Before grinning. "Friends, huh? That'll be nice. They know i'm bad, though. So don't tell anyone, okay? They might suspect you then! And... wellll... that'd be bad, right? And I've already got my wish, anyway. It was what made me join Umbra. As long as I follow orders, I get to keep it."
Airi Nakahara nods slowly "That sounds like the way to handle things. I am going to keep working on getting things going with Easter. If I can get a large group of eggs to release, that would get the embryo's attention!" She smiles.
"As for if they decide to do something crazy and try to get me to be part of their little tea party, I guess I will decline. Its not like they can force me to be part of their group right?" She really doesn't know the Guardians very well. "So yes. Friends." She smirks and shakes hands with Unmei.
Unmei Tama nodded with a grin, then leaned in. "Sooo, now that we're buddies, you HAVE to let me do something with your hair, okay? You have the cutest little strands! It'll be fun, I swear! My girl friend has been teaching me all about them!"
... Oh dear. Airi agreed to this...
