It's a mostly slow evening. Haruna Kurosawa is beliving she's right she may want to cut store hours back some. It gets so super slow. She's going to try to be open a bit later to see if there's a SUPER late night demographic to tap, then she's just gonna cut back hours she thinks.
This means she's behind the counter reading her own recently released book. There is a small display on the counter for them. There are four books left of what seemed to be ten at one time. Haruna needs to restock it before the day ends.
It is proving to be a popular comedy read to some degree to mundanes, and useful non-fiction to magical types.
She's also eating a Gullwing Donut. It's a donut, frosted seagreen with white seagull shaped sprinkles.
Yuzuki Amemori makes her way to the store, having decided to call Unmei to have a quiet evening together, not having been privy to various events off the preceeding days! So, having met up with her, she guides the other girl to the coffee shop, seeming not at all bothered by the late night. Stepping through the door, she holds it open for Unmei, checks for anyone else, then makes her way to the counter where she noisily drops her bag on the counter to get Haruna's attention.
Settling down in front of her, she peeks at the book cover and asks, "What's that?" having not remembered the book, but feeling like she probably should have. She'll blame being a samurai on it. That's it. "Hey." says, remembering to at least say hi before adding, "This is Unmei." before looking back for the girl to make sure she didn't dart off.
Unmei Tama followed her girlfriend inside, clasping her hand so tight it could almost break. She was going to meet -people-. Which likely meant other magical people. Who were going to try to -help- her. Oh, this would not end well.
She paused when she saw the book. "Hey! I got one of those from work, it's really good. You wanna borrow my copy, Yuzu?" she asked with a grin. And then... Glanced to Haruna and... "OH! Hey! You're a bad guy too!" she said happily, waving. "It's me, Clotho, remember? I... oh. Actually... our first meeting was... oh...." She kind of hid behind Yuzu then. She kind of made a little bit of a fool of herself there. "R-right..."
Caffeine. Soda, coffee, something. Sleep is something other people can do. Tonight (like the last few nights) Kukai is on the late shift, patrolling, searching the city intently. He'd be sailing through the air as Sky Jack if he didn't feel the need to be saving energy, and that he didn't have much energy to spare.
So, it's time to find some beverage or food that will provide the much needed energy he requires. There's a nearby cafe up the street, and it looks like there's everything he needs there. Unfortunately for Kukai, his mind is so focused on 'twin clowns' that he misses a lot of the other things going on inside, such as there being three girls inside he may not have the best time around. Oh well!
Kukai pushes the door open, heading towards the counter, and looks up - into the face of Haruna Kurosawa. Whoops. And then at the counter, at least one girl he recognizes, Unmei. Double whoops. "Uh. Hi. ... What do you have that's got lots of caffeine and sugar?" Best to just play it off like nothing's wrong. "I've gotta be up late tonight."
Haruna Kurosawa huhs and lowers her book. She closes it and stands up and brushes herself off. "Oh! Hey Yuzuki! Unmei?..." she asks. She squints at Unmei. "Oh! Uh, hey! You're Yuzu's girl, right?~" she says just a hint of tease.
Then she starts accusing herself of being a bad guy. "Wo--woah I'm not a badguy! I just work with them. Different. White-chan lets me do my own thing usually." she says with a grin.
She blinks. "OH! You're Clotho hi! Yeah. White-chan made sure to hand the book around because she bought a bunch and also one of the special edition braille copies." she says.
She looks to Yuzuki and blinks and then she walks to the back and pulls out a copy. "Here. Something tells me you're going to be needing this." she says with a smirk.
The Book is Titled 'A Guide To Dating Evil. The Reference for the Confused and Bewildered!' by a 'C. Gull'.
She looks to Kukai. "Oh, Hey Kukai. Welcome to Gullwing Coffee! This is my shop." she says. "Yeah we have that. A moment." she says. "Also what do you two want?" she asks to Unmei and Yuzuki as she goes to make the most super powered expresso ever. She calls it the 'Moonlight Fighting Special'. She knows these things.
Yuzuki Amemori looks at the pun on the title of the book and after a moment says, "If I had my soundboard I'd just hold the airhorn button down for a few minutes for that pun, you know that right?" Then she flips the book over, looking through it and says dryly, "If she's evil I want to know what I've stuck a sword through." She's terrible at keeping secrets when she's distracted even a little, but oh well.
Glancing over to Unmei, then back to Haruna she asks, "Huh, you two have met though?" Not taking the bait from her friend, instead asking, "No audio book for her? I mean I know she has to listen to you enough, but still." What, she has to get her teasing in too!
Then she looks back to Kukai, tenses briefly as she tries to figure out if she said more than she should have with a stranger there. "Hullo!" She offers though before turning to Haru, "Tea. Black. At least as black as Blood Stain Child's music. Please." Then she scowls, "That joke's as terrible as your pun. IT'S RUBBING OFF!"
Unmei Tama nodded. "Y-yeah. I ummm... hi. And I'm a good evil girl friend though, right? I mean, we cuddle, and snuggle, a-and I kiss you! And I'm like, not trying to kill people either, right?" Nuzzle nuzzle affectionately. Gave her hand a squeeze. "And I only tried to get you to join me on the dark side once. Oh my gosh now I'm making the bad jokes." She then glanced to the door and...
"Oh, hey! Yuzu, look! That's the guy I told you about! The one I frenched! Turns out he has a girl friend though, I haven't met her yet." Oh, wow, right in front of Haruna, too. And Kukai's troubles just got worse. "Hi Kukai! He's really nice, he even helped me work out my feelings for you."
She was the worst. Girlfriend. Ever. She then looked ot Haruna. "I'll have... one of the big donuts. A chocolate shake. Oh, and one of those cinnamon rolls. Oh, and a slice of that double chocolate fudge cake. Aaaaaand... oh, and one of those takoyoki. The fish looking food are so cute, you know?"
Kukai looks around the shop after a moment, leaning on the bar heavily before taking a seat. "Yeah I think I heard you were opening a place. This is it?" He nods. "Looks good. I hope it's doing well." He rubs his eyes, looking over at Yuzuki and.. Oh dear, Ms. French Tongue Unmei. "Ah, hello Unmei, Unmei's friend. It was very much her thing, she sort of... tackled me."
Kukai groans, rubbing his eyes. "Yeaah.. It's good, I guess, to see you again? Sorry. I haven't slept much the past few days. Bad dreams and things are going on and I just need a little sweet pick-me-up, apparently."
Haruna Kurosawa grins at Yuzuki. "You're actually the first one to notice the shortening of 'Cure Gull' to 'C. Gull' was my super cleverness." she insists with a grin. "That being said, this one's gonna be a handful~" she insists teasingly at Unmei. "Maybe even more so than Hannah-channnnn~" she sings.
No that's wrong. NO ONE could be a bigger handful than Hannah-chan. "Well I may consider an audio-book if it's super popular." she says.
She finishes her super expresso and offers it to Kukai. "Here. This'll keep you up for days maybe. Or just as long as you need it." she insists.
She obtains Black Coffee which is easy because she just dispenses coffee into the cup and that's that. She then obtains that laundry list of pastries and then hrmms. "That's the last of the Takayaki." she says with a smile. She slides it over to Unmei. "There." she says.
Then a pause.
"Wait did you just say you frenched Kukai?" there's a long pause here. Why doesn't she belive that explanation. >:I
Yuzuki Amemori facepalms at the admission from Unmei while saying, "I could have gone without knowing just who it is you did that with Unmei." She then waves to Kukai and says, "This is my girlfriend, she has impulse control problems that rival Haru here hitting on foreign guys." She turns her head back to the Gull in question to say, "Wait really? No one's noticed that until now? I mean puns are a form of evil I try to avoid on habit, but what can you do?"
Trying not to imagine just how bad her own diet is, all things considered she asks Kukai, "Bad dreams? Like normal bad dreams or killer armored unicorn things, ninjas and monsters spewing out bad dreams?" What, if the other two know him, she figures it's safe. And she hasn't given her name away yet.
Unmei Tama nodded. "Oh, yeah. And it was awesome. I mean, when I kiss Yuzu I hear fire works and things and she's so much softer and gentler and I feel safe. But when I kissed Kukai it was a lot... well, he's a lot firmer, you know? And he tastes slightly saltier and it's a bit more... powerful. I still prefer Yuzu, but if Kukai was single I'd probably try to get him to join us. Though I guess... Yuzu, do you think you should kiss his girl friend? Would that make it fair? Or would I have to kiss her? How does that work out?"
Maybe she wasn't so bad at being evil after all. She was probably the biggest threat to Kukai, at least. "A-and I'm not a handful! I'm like... two handfuls and--" Pause. "Oh. Wait. You meant personality wise. Y-yeah, I uhhh... b-but she says I'm worth it and she makes me feel all warm and happy when we cuddle and we get to go out to eat and she says I'm pretty and she helped me do my hair and make up and she took me shopping and she's the best girl friend ever! I wish I'd ended up joining Umbra years ago and come here! Eeeee!" Wiggles happily in her chair.
Kukai nods and then digs out his wallet. "How much do I owe you?" He doesn't have much, but hey, it's worth it if it keeps him awake. "And how is Hannah doing? My arm's fine, by the way. I hope her stomach's all right." He sighs, then nods at Unmei. "She pounced me. It wasn't my choice." He doesn't say anything about not immediately pulling away, either. Falling away, more like.
Kukai nods at Yuzuki, then grins. "Yeah, I'm familiar with her. And... seeing a girl in a coma in my dream yell at me for ruining her sister's last soccer game, and then the girl in the coma wakes up and says I need to be saving her sister. That kind of dream problem, the kind that interacts with the real world." He nods at her. "I'm Kukai, by the way."
He just... looks at Unmei, listening to her. "Look, you won't kiss Nadeshiko or Nagihiko without their permission, and I'm not sure if they'll give it at this point." The bit about two handfuls makes him cough a bit, though. "Well. At least I'm glad you're happy now. You were a mopey sort the other day." He sips at his coffee. "Huh. Isn't expresso supposed to be bitter? This is sweet." He takes a few more sips. "Huh. ... Hey, also, while we're talking shop, anyone seen a pair of magical clowns flying around, exact twins? Maybe?"
Haruna Kurosawa head tilts. Umbra. Riventon's outfit. "Ah. You work with Riventon." she says. "Well. I can't say I'm going to feel very bad for him or anyone he works with here in a few days." she says with a smirk.
"But good luck with that." she sings out.
She looks back at Yuzuki and grins. "Sounds like you got a feisty one here. Hope you can keep up." she winks.
She looks back to Kukai a moment. She sighs and rattles off the price and accepts payment. It's a decent price, compartitive, and then it has a ten percent discount for 'heroes'- so it's a little cheaper than say if he went to the Midori-ya instead.
"Oh, it's sweet because it has everything in it that keeps you up." she insists.
She blinks. "...Flying. Twin Clowns? No I haven't seen anything like that." she says softly.
Yuzuki Amemori drums her fingers on the counter and says, "Unmei, really, please stop." she sounds like she's at least being as patient as possible! "I'm not going to kiss anyone else, that's not the kind of person I am." She says this simply, trying not to sound like she's patronizing. Like she's trying to set an example rather than harp! "There's a name finally. Need to go punching some people fo-" she trails off and shakes her head. Leaning forward she whispers something to Haruna before flopping back on her seat. "What's the total?" while she fishes the money from her satchel.
To Unmei, once more she adds, "A handful huh? I guess that's a way to phrase it?" She's teasing again, though there's some honesty to it. She might be a touch wounded pride-wise with Kukai right there and all, not that it's his fault.
"I don't remember the last nightmare thingy I fought. It was menacing Un- one of the universities nearby." Still terrible at keeping that sort of thing under wraps. "What do they look like? I'll keep an eye out." Beat, "Tangible dreams though? Neat. I'll talk to S-Akashimaru, or maybe I'll see if I can help alone? She's been busy busy. Moreso than me that is." beat, "Well, a different kind of busy."
Unmei Tama blinked a few times. "Nadeshiko or..." Her eyes went wide. "Oh my gosh, Kukai, are you dating TWINS? Wow, you scoundrel you. That's so kinky!" she said with a big grin. "And it's true. He was just being so nice and sweet and charming and so I kissed him. He didn't really put up much of a fight though." Then she gave a little giggle before going into her food... Was she eating more lately? Like, more even by gluttony's standards? And getting oddly... sloppier? Nah. Probably not. Then, speaking with her mouth full, something Yuzu had likely never seen her do.
"Hmmm? Oh, yeah. I turned a couple of twins the other day. I was expecting double efficiency, you know? But like, they just kept fighting each other, in the end I didn't get much more magical energy than I would have from just turning one person. And they almost lit me on fire, too. Some of my youma are so mean, you know? I swear they don't respect me either." She swallowed. "They weren't clowns, though. Sorry. And yeah... i was totally mopey. Can you blame me? I thought Yuzu was going to dump me the moment she found out I was a bad guy! But she said she's going to try to save me instead. I still think it's silly since, well, I can't be saved. But it's so cute. I feel like her princess!"
She then cocked her head to the side. "Wait, are you guys going to go beat up dream things? Sweeeeet. Can I help? It'll be fun!"
Kukai hmms and then adds a few yen on top of what Haruna was charging anyway. "Here, the extra is my contribution to helping the place stay open. Thanks." He leans on the bar and hmms, taking another sip. "Well... yeah, that'd explain it."
His eyes slip over to Yuzu as she talks, then huhs. "If you can do things with dreams, and wouldn't mind it, I could probably use some help at some point. I'm sort of at a loss. I've got a couple other people I'm trying to find who could help but it's hit and miss contacting anybody at this point. So..." He nods. "I wouldn't ask you tonight, though, since you're with your girlfriend."
One long finger points at Unmei. "And you. I might be dating whomever but it is NOT.. that thing you said. It's perfectly innocent. And I was surprised! I tried to get away from you as fast as possible." He rolls his eyes and then winces as she talks with her mouth open. Ew. "You... can be saved if you want to be saved. I'm pretty sure we went over that the other day. You're just... not willing to be saved yet. And you might deserve a little fire-butt from time to time, anyway."
Haruna Kurosawa looks between Yuzuki and Unmei and Kukai and face palms. Ugh. Not like her romantic life is perfect and also has it's own issues but it's so simple compared to his mess she's hearing about.
Twins and Girls kissing other boys that are dating her friend. Part of her wants to make an attempt to smooch Yuzuki just to cause more chaos but she must be a /good C. Gull/ and also Hannah might punch her if she found out and she doesn't wanna make Hannah mad. :<
She sighs and rattles off the price. "And if you're paying for her it's...." a larger amount. She ordered a lot!
She sighs and smirks a bit. She sighs.
"So you're dreaming about a girl who woke up from a coma?" she asks. "Then she acted like the dream was a real thing?" she asks. "Huh..." she taps her chin.
"I've been hearing about a lot of dream screwyness lately." she says. "But it seemed to stop recently."
Yuzuki Amemori tilts her head from one side to the other and says, "I only know two people off hand other than myself that uh..." she considers how to phrase it, "Deals in dreams? Protecting them? I think?" Beat, "The literal kind." Looking to Unmei curiosly, she reaches out and pokes her then leans in and murmurs, "Are you doing alright?" while subtly gesturing to the whole open mouthed chewing and all. Then the food. She nods to Haru and sets a few bills on the counter and says, "Just hand me the damage."
To Kukai, she asks, "Small girl or girl about my age?" then stops and adds, "Who you're trying to contact." She points to him after while looking back to Unmei, "See, told you, it's not just me. You just have to ask for help." Wait, which version of her said that? Oh well.
Back to Haruna, she has a somewhat exasperated look on her features now.
Unmei Tama nodded. "Right. Oh? So you dream of unconscious girls often? Naughty," she teased, grinning. "And dating twins is innocent? So naive." She then shrugged. "Sure, I can be saved. If life was that easy."
She paused and looked to Yuzu. "Hmmm? Everything is fine, why? Why are you gesturing at me. Is something wrong?" She didn't even object to Yuzu paying, either. Eh, probably nothing.
"You protect dreams, Yuzu? That's--" Then alarms went off in her head and the color drained. "Y-yuzu, no matter what, promise me you won't go into my dreams, okay? No matter WHAT! I-I don't want you to see them, you -can't see them-, okay? PROMISE!" Wow, panic suddenly. That was more like her.
Kukai nods at Haruna. "Yeah. Long story. Um.. I think you knew her. Sachiko Hayakawa? She woke up, finally. But... dreams." He shrugs, then looks over to Yuzuki. "Yeah, I know two as well. You'd make 3. I'm.." He sighs, drumming his fingers as he takes a sip. "I'll just write my number down or something and you can call me when you're free. I'd appreciate it." He rubs his chin. "The girl I'm trying to contact? Girl a little younger than me, and dead, named Anshi. Was in my dream. It's complicated."
Kukai eyes Unmei for a moment. "You really don't know what the whole thing is, so... yeah, it is innocent." He then blinks as Unmei sort of panics, then looks over at Yuzu. "You should probably look into her dreams if she's being so protective of them. Or maybe when I'm done with my dream stuff I can drop a note to a friend." He grins a bit - giving Unmei a bit of her own back was entertaining!
Haruna Kurosawa raises her hands and shushes Unmei. "I'm positive that Yuzuki wouldn't do that unless you asked her to, or it needed to be done because something was wrong." she says softly. "That's kind of a private thing you know? Your dreams?" she says softly. She shrugs at Yuzuki at the look with a shrug and a smile.
She head tilts at Kukai and hrms and taps her chin a bit and then frowns. "Hey... dreams are private Kuuks." she insists.
Yuzuki Amemori watches Unmei quietly, trying to figure out what's going on. "You're usually more prim." and after a beat she murmurs quietly, trying to make sure only Unmei hears, "Did something else happen?" Thinking maybe she's binge eating again. She had admitted to doing that right? Or was she filling in blanks? She can't quite remember and instead she turns to take a long sip of tea to try and focus. She may even hold that cup longer than usual.
To Kukai she says, "I'm with the taller of the two. Apparently my dreams smell of sake and gunpowder." She's not sure if he's going to get that, but Haru might. Then there's Unmei panicking. She gives her another look, sliding her chair over to give the girl a careful hug. "Not my thing." Beat, "Well, unless a ninja jumps in. Kinda have to at that point."
She said that about the same time as Haru, which gets something of a laugh from the girl. "Yeah, what she said."
Unmei Tama blinked a few times. "Am... I not being?" Then her eyes widened. "W-wait, was I talking with my mouth full? Oh my gosh! I-I'm so sorry! And I don't care if there's ninjas, you -can't see my dreams-. They're horrible and awful and I don't want you to know about them!" She then let out a sigh of relief. "Good. Just... don't. They're... not like normal and just... you can't."
Her face was in a worried look and she just... grabbed one of the books and started reading it? Oh, she was definitely moping. Staring at it and trying to focus on anything BUT what was going on. And chewing on her lower lip. She was trying so hard not to panic. What if she had a dream about -then-. Would yuzu know? "Just... just help Kukai, okay? Please. Just focus on him."
Kukai grins at Haruna. "Sorry. She's been toying with me since I met her, so it was fun to get a nudge back in against her." He looks back at Yuzuki and Unmei, listening to them talk for a bit. "It's ok. I'm not gonna drag you away from your girlfriend while you're in the middle of a date."
He leans off the bar and stretches. "Whoof. I think the espresso's kicking in, actually. I should get back out onto the street and do that searching thing." He grabs a napkin and writes his number down on a napkin, handing it to Yuzuki. "Here ya go. Whenever you have time, ok? I may contact one of the other people I know first but it's not because I'm trying to be rude, I just gotta deal with this ASAP. Thank you."
Haruna Kurosawa nods a bit. "Alright Kukai. Be well. Don't over do it!" she says.
She looks back to the two. She sighs a bit and places a hand to her forehead. "Relax you two." she says with a sigh. "It'll be fine Unmei." she says softly.
"But you know. I had to beat the literal crap out of Hannah once because this sword was possessing her? Yeah. Sometimes you need to do stuff like that." she says with a sigh.
Yuzuki Amemori gives Kukai an annoyed look and says, "It shouldn't be hard for me to find either! I have their number!" as a side note, she fishes out a scrap of paper from her satchel, scribbles her own number out, literally as her handwriting isn't great and offers it to Kukai. "You know Akashimaru right? Big, armored, samurai?"
Then she glances back to Haruna, "I- yeah. It's not something I'm hoping for." She shrugs and rests her head on her hand and continues, "But sometimes, you can't just save them until it's almost too late I guess." she scowls and adds, "Or if they go all the way and stick you. Unmei, no stabbing me please. I've done that before apparently."
Kukai laughs. "Only way to do it is to overdo it till it's done, Haruna. I'll try to live, at least." He looks back over to Yuzuki, then shakes his head. "...noooo, actually. I don't. But.. if you're gonna talk to him, I guess that'll be good. Just call me when you have the time!"
Kukai waves to the three of them, then heads for the door, back out on the hunt.
Unmei Tama blinked. "W-what? Stab you? Pfft, I'd never do that. But I already told Yuzu she has complete rights to beat the shit out of me if she wants to. Heck, I'll probably deserve it. Besides, I figured when I took this thing it'd happen to me anyway." She closed her eyes and leaned against her a bit.
"Who knows? Maybe after you like, kick my butt you'll get some super cool power up! Like angel wings or glowing heart beams or something like that. Wouldn't that be cool?"
Haruna Kurosawa sighs and shakes her head a bit. "Hannah got me good and then there was that time I also died during the North Pole and that /really/ upset her." she says. "Seriously. Don't die. Not fun." she says.
"I was somewhere else after that though, I forget." she shrugs a bit.
She nods at Unmei. "Yeah. That's the deal me and Hannah have. She does stupid shit, she gets punched." she insists.
She huffs. "Well when I beat up Hannah from the sword I got this cool angel form..." she says tapping her bottom lip. She looks down and tries to imagine Yuzuki as a Samurai Angel. She giggles furiously.
She then waves at Kukai. "Bye, Kuuks!" she says.
Yuzuki Amemori looks to Haru and points to her, "Yeah what she said." She tilts her head, "Did you die and reincarnate or die and something else?" She seems pretty flippant about it surprisingly. She turns her head to Unmei and for once actually says somewhat sternly, "I've asked you to stop being so fatalistic at least!" What, she does have some limits to her patience and a girl throwing away her life and dreams is a good one she thinks!
She holds up a finger to Kukai after and adds, "She, Akashimaru is a she now." Then she pauses, "Apparently he's more antagonistic than Ha-mine." Still, she waves after and says, "Bye!"
Then back to Haru while saying, "Angel? Like the western kind right? I have a hard time imagining you with a halo of innocence."
Unmei Tama cringed. "Oh, dying. That's pretty rough. I--" And then yuzu. She cringes. "I... I told you I wouldn't try to die, right? I mean... I-I guess... I... I just thought... b-beating me up is okay, isn't it? It's not like you're bullying me or anything... you're just... hurting me. A bit. T-that's t be expected..."
She chewed on her snacks, sufficiently scolded and all meek again. "I'm sorry, Yuzu..."
Haruna Kurosawa sighs and shakes her head. "Like wings and all that yeah!" she says at Yuzuki. "LIke that yes." she says as she crosses her arms with a hrmph! "I'm a PERFECT ANGEL. Hannah-chan says so." then a pause. "Okay so that's not the best source but you know what I mean!" she huffs.
"Unmei. Calm down. Okay?" she asks. Here. She shoves a hot chocolate towards here. "Hot Chocolate. Deep breaths." she insists.
Yuzuki Amemori looks to Haruna and sticks her tongue out, "Hannah says a lot of things though!" she then laughs and says, "Wings seem annoying anyway. Wearing a constantly changing menpo took enough getting used to."
Turning to Unmei, she scoots over to give her a hug, trying to help calm her down. Even pulling the hot chocolate over for her. "Come on, it's okay." She hesitates then says, "You shouldn't let someone walk all over you, anyone. Don't let yourself get hurt. I'd worry." She frowns, is that too far still? Maybe she should just be quiet. She feels kind of terrible about this.
Unmei Tama nodded, taking her hot cocoa and gently sipping it. She then nestles into her girl friend and closes her eyes, nodding. "Okay. I just... I don't mind if you walk all over me. You're the first one who's ever cared enough to even do it," she mumbled gently. Sipping her cup and pulling her knees to her chest.
Haruna Kurosawa sighs and shakes her head. "I need to do some stuff in the back now you two." she says. "Relax!" she says. "I'll be back out if the door dings~" she says flipping a switch underneath the counter to turn that feature on.
And then she leaves the two lovebirds alone, heading into the back to begin prep for tommrow!~
