It's been weeks since Miku used the songbook to write a song about a happy vampire. Weeks, and she has only written in it once since; and that was an emergency.

Today, however, Miku has decided to give the thing one last shot. Last time didn't go so bad. The more she uses the book, the better she understands how it twists her words to make what she writes.

That doesn't necessarily mean she has it down. Today, however, she's settled in one of the small Karaoke booths, at a restaurant in the Neon District. Alexis got a text to meet her here. There's finger foods, sparkling waters, and a karaoke machine set up.

The songbook is on the table.

Miku is up at the microphone, singing a slow jazz song for her own benefit while she waits for Alexis to show up.

And yes, she is that good a singer.

This is most definitely not the kind of place Alex usually goes to. Not just because of his whole case of vampirism either, mind you-- he wasn't exactly in a hurry to go karaokeing while he was still 100% human either.

Mostly because he is a positively *terrible* singer.

But Miku's asked him to come around, and he'd promised to be there for her when need be. Even if he's considering a requisite of it in this case to involve him keeping his hoodie's hood flipped up to conceal his face from most onlookers when he pads his way into the restaurant with both hands stuck within the pockets of the same garment-- and making his way to that booth.

He doesn't sit down, though. The instant he reaches the booth, he remains standing where he can just... watch Miku at the microphone, quietly. And listen. It's sad, really-- that he can't feel the same kind of things from listening to her singing that he remembers being able to get from music before his change. But he can still listen, at least. And appreciate it in some subconscious level, regardless. ... And keep hoping there's some tiny crack in this curse somewhere.

Miku looks up as Alexis comes into the private booth, and smiles at him. She finishes the song up, then clicks off the microphone and the machine, both. Setting the mic back in its stand, she movesto take a seat at the table.

"Nice of you to join me," Miku says, motioning for Alexis to take a seat. "I thought you'd want to be here when I try this a third time."

Sitting down, Miku grabs a loaded fry and stuffs the entire strange concoction in her mouth, then pulls the book closer. "So," she says, then finishes chewing and swallowing. "So," a repeat, this time with less food, "I was thinking of writing one last song."
Alexis Raskoph 2017-04-17 00:55:03 74748
"I promised," Alex murmurs and takes on to go step towards a seat close by her-- though he still keeps the hood up and his hands in the hoodie's pockets even when he's sitting there. "...And, yes. I would."

She probably expected that he wouldn't be reaching for any of the food or drink provided-- but he does look in a vaguely bemused manner at the bizarre fry she's taken to eating. Even more so bemused when she tries to speak with her mouth still full.

"... What kind of song?"
Miku Kohinata 2017-04-17 00:57:57 74749
Miku shrugs just faintly, then smiles at him and leans forward to grab a pen. "I miss Hibiki," she explains. "Trying to affect people directly has caused no end of trouble. So instead, I thought I'd write a song about a ticket finding its way to a long lost ... um. Friend." She glances at Alexis. "That ticket will be her way home, if she wants to take it." A faint shrug, then she leans over to start writing. "I've already composed most of it in my head. Just need to get it down on paper. So ... hopefully this doesn't backfire.~" And with that she begins penning the song.
Sakura Kinomoto 2017-04-17 01:02:17 74750
Sakura Kinomoto froze, looking around. She could feel it. A clow card. She'd felt it before, so many times. but there'd always been delays, something stopped her.

But now? She was good. she glanced to Tomoyo who... had her camera already. "Let's go."

The card, in this case a ticket, flowed through the air, caught on the breeze. Sakura glanced up and saw it. "Jump!" she called, leaping into the air, racing after it as it flapped and danced...
Alexis Raskoph 2017-04-17 01:09:10 74751
"A ticket...?" Alex repeats after Miku, with his head cocking sidewards underneath that hood, enough that he can keep both his eyes on the greenhaired girl there. "To a 'friend'. Right." That particular word is definitely enunciated in a way that suggests he's thinking there's some other meaning behind it. "To Hibiki, right?" His eyes track along after her, to the book-- though his focus isn't there enough that he can actually follow all the letters written there. "I'm trying to think of some potential way for that to backfire now, actually..."
Miku Kohinata 2017-04-17 01:12:42 74753
"Worst case, it doesn't happen," Miku replies as she continues writing. "Best case, I get her back. I can't think of any way it can go wrong." A faint shrug, then Miku sets back, putting the pen aside. She reads over her whole song front to back, then offers it to Alexis. "I guess now we just sit and wait."
Sakura Kinomoto 2017-04-17 01:16:02 74754
Sakura Kinomoto runs after the card, leaping around. Tomoyo, of course, runs after her recording it all. Fortunately, the care soon takes them out of the city, heading off towards whereever Hibiki is...

Sakura keeps racing, almost grabs it. "Hiya!" And then it slides out between her fingers. Making her shriek and face plant. "Ow."
Alexis Raskoph 2017-04-17 01:19:22 74755
With the written-down song offered to him, Alex takes it for himself and eyes it over, with a slow blink of his eyes at the end. He doesn't comment on it-- which at least means he doesn't have anything negative to say either.

"So..." He begins, with the book held back to her. "WHat are you going to do with this book after this?"
Miku Kohinata 2017-04-17 01:30:12 74756
Miku shrugs just faintly as she takes the book back. "Dunno," she admits quietly. Closing it, she sets it back down on the table, then reaches for more finger foods. "Keep it, I guess. It could come in handy."
Sakura Kinomoto 2017-04-17 01:35:18 74757
Sakura Kinomoto growled, got up and then stared at the card. Her handss reached down and... "Windy! Stop that ticket!" she yelled. The wind rushed out, wrapped around it and... bound the card up. She then smiled, gripping her wand. "Return to your true form! Clow card!" She yelled.

For a few moments, silence. Then mist rose up from the book. If she opened it, she'd see all the words, from when she recently wrote to the new ones, disapearing. One by one, flowing up like smoke. Then the pages began to follow it.
Alexis Raskoph 2017-04-17 01:40:51 74758
"As long as you don't make clones of me again." THat probably would have come out with a tone more indicative of a joke if Alex had the emotional capacity for it. But... well, there you go.

"But I can see h--eh?" A slow blink, and Alex's eyes widen slightly when they turn towards the book. ... The *misty* book. "...Miku?"
Miku Kohinata 2017-04-17 01:43:09 74759
Miku has a mouthful of munchies when the book starts to fade. She isn't looking at it, so his wide-eyed confusion is her indication that something's wrong. Given Miku has pretty much never seen Alexis evince half this much emotion before, except in anger, it catches her by surprise. "What?" she asks, then turns to look at the book.

"Wh-!!" she exclaims, and reaches for the book. "No no no no!" she cries, as her hand passes straight through what was physical only moments ago. "Why!? What happened?!" Distraught, she turns to Alexis and asks, "What did I do!?"
Sakura Kinomoto 2017-04-17 01:44:37 74760
Sakura Kinomoto held up the card. The 'Create' card. "Huh. That was easy. Wow, this card might be really helpful." Signing it. Its last task to never be completed. She then turned and posed for her friend, of course. Unaware of what she'd done...
Alexis Raskoph 2017-04-17 01:52:06 74761
"I don't know," claims Alex-- comparatively much calmer, but that owes a lot more to his lacking emotional state than anything else, really. The realization that this is leaving Miku distraught drives him to act, though. A hand slips quickly out of his hoodie, and in a quick flash, that same hand gets covered in a dark, faintly purple-hued substance before reaching for the fading book-- only for his fingers to *still* just go through it instead of catching onto anything solid. "--Ah."

He's not at all satisfied with this conclusion, though. She's going to end up crying, isn't she? So... "...Tch!" The dark-coating leaves his hand before reaching to take one of Miku's own, tugging in urging as he rises up from the booth seating. "Come on! Maybe that thing you sent off is still--!"
Miku Kohinata 2017-04-17 02:04:01 74762
"W--wait! I haven't paid yet," she says, frantically pulling money out of her backpack. She drops more than the required amount on the table, then slings the bag over her shoulder and turns to run, chasing Alexis ou t the door. She'll regret that decision later, but right now she has to trust that he has an idea--some idea--of what's going on.
Sakura Kinomoto 2017-04-17 02:05:04 74763
Sakura Kinomoto was out, just outside the city in her school girl uniform, walking with Tomoyo as they started to head back home. Unaware of what they've done. Sakura was feeling pretty good, all things considered. She thought she'd done well.
Alexis Raskoph 2017-04-17 02:13:58 74764
And out Alex leads Miku in a hurry, all but bursting out the front doors of the building before he stomps his feet down onto the street and turns his eyes flicking this way and that through the immediate surroundings to try and... spot something. The ticket or anything else at all that looks off. And he... fails to find either. Because they're too damn late.

He comes across as emotionless most of the time on account of mostly not feeling positive emotions, but the rest is a result of him deliberately holding back the negative-- but now frustration and anger force their way through, and something slips out in a sharp bark that sounds vaguely like a german expletive to precede him backswinging a fist into the wall of the building he and Miku just came out of... and causing the cement there to crack. Hope no one noticed.
Miku Kohinata 2017-04-17 02:17:27 74765
Miku follows his gaze up the street, then down, then looks up and down one more time as he slams his fist into the door. She walks a few steps away from him, hugging herself slightly as she tries to make sense of what just happened.

Then, she sighs and crouches down at the edge of the street, staring at the concrete with no real intention whatsoever.

There's a long, pregnant pause before she observes, "Well. I was wrong. I guess I won't keep it around, just in case."

rShe frowns faintly, then asks, "Do you think she got the ticket?"
Alexis Raskoph 2017-04-17 02:31:21 74766
There's a few moments Alex spends just standing there with the back of his fist pressed against the cracked wall and staring down the ground. Running through the sensation of-- failure, to put it simply. Wasn't he supposed to help her?

Finally, he lets out a sigh, and slowly turns himself to step towards her, and eventually crouch down besides her, arms folded over his knees.

"I don't know," he confesses quietly. "Maybe. I didn't see. ... I'm sorry."
Miku Kohinata 2017-04-17 02:41:45 74767
Miku reaches up to push her hair back out of her face, but it falls right back in a moment later. She sighs to herself, wipes at her eyes, then nods her head once. "Okay," she says quietly.

After another moment of silence, she slowly raises out of the crouch. "Well," she mumbles, "at least you don't have to worry about me writing your clone back into existence." Another moment's silence, and then she turns to start walking down the street. Away from him. Away from the karaoke. Away from this pain.
Alexis Raskoph 2017-04-17 02:55:23 74768
Alex doesn't follow. He doesn't even lift himself up from the crouch. Quite the opposite-- he lets himself slump down further, to the point where his rear comes sat upon the curb. And his arms go on to fold more tightly around his knees, as he murmurs, in a voice quiet enough that she might not even hear it, "... Maybe you should have."

He really, really misses being able to feel plenty of thing. He misses all these bad emotions not being so pronounced.

And now, with Miku walking away, struck down like that, and his head lowering down until his forehead presses against his folded arms and leaves his hood completely concealing him-- the words his clone had spoken haunt him more than ever.
