o/~ Korma Korma Korma Korma Chameleon....

It's not a well-known place, or even that large of one. Set in a quiet neighborhood, a short hop away from Shinjuku, the restaurant is a neighborhood staple, a literal mom-and-pop curry joint. Its greatest claim to fame? That the owner's wife is an Indian immigrant, and does the bulk of the spice blending herself.

At the moment, business is slow; the student crowd often buying their food at the shopping district, the neighborhood too quiet for the foreign adventurers, only the regulars left behind to warm the booths. In a booth near the door, a dark-skinned young redhead scribbles away at her homework, flanked by a small fortress of schoolbooks.

Norie Okana wanted to go out to eat. Alexis needs to eat. She decided to take him out to eat. She's around, so she isn't worried about Alexis losing control. She can /do/ something about that. She has found a curry place. Curry is great. Everyone likes curry, right?

She enters the shop, she has decided to go partly change. Pale-ish skin, purple hair and eyes- and a fancy dress.

She looks to the right and the left as she enters the shop. It isn't busy. She looks back to Alexis. "Do you have a preference of seats?" she asks.

"I think the place is open at least. It's probably just a slow period." she offers.
Alexis Raskoph 2017-04-24 21:38:52 75161
And thus there's an Alexis moving along with Norie-- besies her and half-a-step behind. It might seem a bit hilarious with how much height difference there is between the two - he is pretty damn tall for someone his age even outside of japan afterall - but one might be excused in that event for mistaking them to be siblings or the sort. He's dressed... well. Much more simply. Though perhaps a bit shadily at that, considering the main point of his outfit is the dark hoodie with it's hood flipped up over his head.

"Somewhere I can watch the movement routes," Alex murmurs in answer to Norie's question, once inside-- voice a bit grumpy. He might be a bit annoyed by all the toting about eating that people are tossing at him, even if it all happens to be for his best interests.
Rashmi Terios 2017-04-24 21:41:57 75162
"Welcome!" chirps the redhead behind the books, looking up and beaming at the two as she offers the traditional restaurant greeting. "THere's a booth in the back that's free, by the stairs? Go ahead and have a seat, I'll be right over to take your order!" Wriggling out of her booth, she scoots behind the counter, snatching an apron off the peg next tot he kitchen doorway. "Papi, new customers!"
Lacrima 2017-04-24 22:19:45 75166
Norie Okana hrms as she looks up, "Ah... there's someone." she says. She looks to the booth and looks around it. It should be good enough. She motions for Alexis to follow. She has a seat as she watches Rashimi leave and call for her father.

She looks back to Alexis. "I spoke to Mercury-chan last night. She said she has good hope for your condition. She'll also be asking you if it's okay to pass over anything she's learned to me from you." she says.

She looks around the shop. "This place may be authentic. If it is. Be sure to specify you want things mild unless you like hot and spicy food." she offers.

"Right?" she asks.
Alexis Raskoph 2017-04-24 22:19:52 75167
Rashmi is regarded quietly by the green eyes shining from underneath the hood-- there's something about the girl there that Alex can't quite put his finger on. Hm. He's going to let that thought be, though, in favor of following Norie to the booth and sliding himself to sitting down opposite from her.

"Even in spite of what happened with the ring?" He asks in turn, with his expression not changing. "Mh. I'll hve to make a point of giving her permission, though. I trust you-- I should have told her so in the first place."

The warning about the food makes him just shrug, though. "I'm sure I'll be fine." Nevermind he has never had indian before.
Rashmi Terios 2017-04-24 22:19:54 75168
Now wearing an apron -- decorated with an almost cloyingly adorable chameleon mascot -- Rashmi scoots back to the newly-occupied booth, cardstock menus handed out. "Sorry about that! The dunner rush doesn't usually start for a couple hours, and I had homework to catch up on-- anyway! If you've never had Indian food before, just tell me how spicy you want it, on a scale of 1 to 5. We also have sweet Japanese curries if you don't feel like having an adventure, and I'll be happy to explain any dish that you don't recognize. Also let me know if you have problems with dairy, otherwise what would you like to drink?"
Lacrima 2017-04-24 22:27:03 75169
Norie Okana looks to Rashmi with a slight head tilt. She looks back down to the menu as she merely says. "I will have the Chana Masala." she says. "Five." she says as a number. This isn't going to phase her much. Not what she is anyways. She looks to Alexis. "I would go for something like the traditional for yourself." she offers.

"Not that I am putting down your ability to handle spicy food. But. Indian food is really spicy." she says.

She looks to the waitress. "School gets harder every new grade, yes." she offers.
Alexis Raskoph 2017-04-24 22:30:10 75170
The recommendation earns Norie a *look* from Alex. And a slow blink. He considers this for all of five seconds before he murmurs for the benefit of Rashmi, "Same, at five." Call it foolhardy on his part. Even if his emotions are significantly stunted by his current state, apparently he's still not the type to respond like that to what amounts to a 'challenge'.

He speaks surprisingly fluent japanese for being so obviously caucasian - if Rashmi makes hte effort to look at his face past the hood anyway - though it is littered with a rather obvious accent. Something european.
Rashmi Terios 2017-04-24 22:34:18 75171
Norie's order is scribbled down without comment... but Alex's echo earns a raised eyebrow from the redhead. After a moment's pause, she draws in a breath, scribbling down the order. "All right... Anything you want to drink while your order's being made? I'm going to strenuously,"she says, glancing at ALex specifically, "recommend a mango lassi or two. If you've never had super-hot food before, you're going to need the milk."
Alexis Raskoph 2017-04-24 22:43:02 75172
This is when Alex actually turns his head enough for the sake of looking at Rashmi that the redhead might actually be able to see his face despite his best prior efforts. It's an entirely blank look that he gives her, too. "...Sure," he lets out in a sigh, though. "But I'll be fine," he goes on to insist then.
Rashmi Terios 2017-04-24 22:47:35 75173
"All right!" Rashmi chirps, adding another scribble to the pad, scooting back to the kitchen. "Two Chana Masala, Papi, Mango Lassi, and can we comp them an order of the Tough Guy Naan?" Glancing over her shoulder at Alex, the redhead drops a cheeky wink, then disappears into the kitchen.
Alexis Raskoph 2017-04-24 22:52:18 75174
The TOugh Guy Naan and the wink don't get missed by Alex-- and it leaves him *staring* back at the redhead in dubiousness for the moment she spends there before disappearing. He grunts quietly afterwards, and turns on over to talk to Norie while they're taking care of the food order. Probably about such cheerful topics as his condition of vampirism and potentials for death.

Yay...
Rashmi Terios 2017-04-24 22:56:47 75175
A little more than ten minutes later, Rashmi pops back out from the kitchen with a laden tray in one hand, and a handheld fire extinguisher in the other. The extinguisher gets plonked meaningfully on the table, causing the sparse regulars to chuckle at each other or their own plates, followed by tall, frothy glasses of something pastel-colored and sweet-looking, a platter of steaming, charred flatbread, and then a pair of bowls, filled with alarmingly-red-sauced food over rice, the mere *smell* of which could set uninitiated eyes to watering.

After a moment's inspection, however, Alex learns the depth of Norie's utter betrayal in ordering the food that Alex mimicked.

There's no meat in this dish.
Alexis Raskoph 2017-04-24 23:07:19 75176
When the dish comes along... well.

Alex stares at it suspiciously. It's not the red sauce in the bowl or the incredibly strong smell that bothers him. It's the actual food itself. Specifically the lack of meat.

Teaches him to actually read the menu. He doesn't complain, though. There's a pause in the conversation of the two vampires, now, at least, so he takes the moment to carelessly shove a good mouthful of the stuff into his mouth and swallow as chewing where necessary. Slow blink.

"This isn't so ba--"

Another blink. Suddenly there's red rapidly growing through the skin of his face.

"HHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Raise your hand if you saw that coming.
Rashmi Terios 2017-04-24 23:13:45 75178
Rashmi Terios stood by as the food is accepted, barely suppressing her anticipatory giggles, and the outcry from the tough hoodie-wearing foreigner gets a round of guffaws around the shop.

"That's why the lassi," Rashmi says when the human siren dies down. Picking up the extinguisher, she tucks the tray under her other arm, and grins. "The naan will help, too. Bread and dairy, they *really* help with the burning. Next time, maybe start with a two if you *want* hot and adjust up!" Twirling about quickly enough to get her ankle-length skirt flaring out, she bops back to the kitchen, emerging once more and hanging the apron back on its peg. "I'll be right over there if you need anything else, okay?" she says, waving att he pile of books on the booth by the door.
Alexis Raskoph 2017-04-24 23:26:13 75180
Oh hey, apparently vampires are still capable of panting rapidly and feeling burns on their tongues from strong spices. Alex, at least, is left leaning against the table edge and breathing with such audibility one might wonder if there should be smoke and steam flowing out of his maw.

Speaking of the extinguishers, the advice he at least takes finally-- and starts downing lassi into his gullet with the kind of desperation of someone who would actually been set aflame, followed promptly by bread torn apart with teeth... But even after that...

"M--milk!" The german calls out, *just* before Rashmi manages to get herself sitting down. "Please!"
Rashmi Terios 2017-04-24 23:29:02 75181
There's a pause, but where most teenagers would loose a put-upon sigh, Rashmi simply chuckles, shaking her head. "Well *since* you were so polite," she laughs, bopping back into the kitchen. A short conversation follows, and another glass of lassi is brought out, accompanied by a full pitcher of the stuff.

"Okay now *ground rules," she says, setting the glass down first and keeping the pitcher in hand. "If you can promise you won't do something silly like try and drink straight from this," the pitcher is waggled a bit for emphasis, "I'll put it down and it won't go on your tab. Okay?"
Alexis Raskoph 2017-04-24 23:33:59 75182
By the time Rashmi returns to the table, Alex's hood has flipped back to help air him out, and the red has spread to hsi eyes too thanks to the tears welling up from the extreme reaction his body has on the spice. And when she comes back with the pitcher and glass, he looks up to her as if she was an angel of salvation descending from heavens themselves.

"Okay, okay!" He mumbles with a rapid nod of his head over the demand, too-- even if he could probably pay for it without any problem. Rich kid and all, even if he doesn't usually come across as one.
Rashmi Terios 2017-04-24 23:37:24 75183
And the pitcher is set down without another word, accompanied by an amused chuckle. "If you come back, order the butter chicken," she notes on her way back to her own table. "That usually isn't spicy at *all* unless you ask for it."
Alexis Raskoph 2017-04-24 23:42:33 75184
The first glass is grabbed and drunk down with the kind of speed one could very easily consider to be impossible-- it's nearly instantenous. And the pitcher is immediately turned to refill the glass, while Alex manages to spare a quick look back to the redhead's way and nearly whimper out a "Thank you..."
Rashmi Terios 2017-04-24 23:43:43 75185
"You're welcome," Rashmi chuckles. "Especially if it gets you both coming back."
Alexis Raskoph 2017-04-24 23:50:59 75186
Gulp, gulp, gulp. The poor guy just keeps drinking the lassi like he's tring to drown himself in it. When the pitcher is finally drained up completley, he doesn't call out for a new refill-- but rather just slumps against the table completely, cheek pressed against the surface of it with a quiet whine.

Norie's probably saying something along the lines of 'told you so'.
