Mikoto Nakajima has been busy, the past few months. Keeping up with her schoolwork, trying to put on a good front for her friends, trying to decipher the secrets of a massive pile of alien spaceship wreckage, fighting monsters... it's enough to give a girl a complex. Especially when her boyfriend is missing, swallowed up by an evil corporate conspiracy that was last seen forcing him to harvest the dreams of children.

She's tried not to dwell on it. To focus on other things. To let herself be happy. She's had more than one long talk with her Guardian Beast, Hikari, about it. But sometimes, something just reminds her of... of that, and she can't help but feel her spirits dropping.

At the moment, she's walking home from school. Well, not home. She hasn't been to her family home, except when summoned by her parents, for ... has it really been months? She's no longer sure, any more. Sometimes it all just feels like a dream. She's on her way to the warehouse she keeps the alien wreckage in, trudging along with a bag slung over her shoulder like any other schoolgirl. Maybe she should stop to get something to eat... it's not like she can keep living off of microwave dinners. There's a nice restaurant up ahead...

And all of a sudden, out of nowhere... it began to rain. It just rained. Right on her. Wait, did she hear a giggle? Right before hand?

It was sudden, came out of nowhere and just torrented on her. And worst of all? It was ONLY ON HER! No one else seemed to be around, it just rained on her and only her. A single cloud over head, about five or so feet up. What the heck?!

The girl walks along, barely paying attention to her surroundings. She's just made the decision to head for the restaurant when... plip. Plop. Oh, thraggling wonderful.

"Of all the times... and the weather report said it was going to be clear." She looks around, not quite registering yet that she's the only one getting rained on. With a sigh, she heads for a bus stop, hoping to wait it out. On a day like this it shouldn't be long, she'd expect.

If this were any sort of natural storm, she might even be right. But she hasn't even bothered to check.

The rain did stop... when some people came walking by. Of course... once they were gone, the rain started falling again, directly on her. Wait, did she hear that giggle again? It was just her imagination, right?

Mikoto looks over as people walk past... and the rain stops. And once they are gone, it does indeed start again. That is... unusual. Rain doesn't normally stop and start like that. She takes a moment to turn in a circle, looking to see if anyone, or anything, is following her.

<~"Carnwennan. Full passive scan, check for magical influences on the weather..."~> The technomagical Device returns an affirmative reply, and goes to work...

It wouldn't take it long to notice there was a cloud DIRECTLY OVER HEAD. One that was about two feet in diameter. If it was a sarcastic AI, it might even have mentioned it could have saved her the trouble of doing the scan if she'd just 'looked up'.
Mikoto Nakajima 2017-04-25 00:47:05 75193
Mikoto mutters to herself in old Belkan as she looks over the scan report... then up at the cloud... then back to the scan. "Think you're funny, do you?" she adds in Japanese. She studies it for a few moments longer, ignoring the rain that pours down onto her face, and then...

"Scat. G'wan. Get lost." Scolding it like a misbehaving dog, she attempts to simply dismiss it.
Sakura Kinomoto 2017-04-25 00:48:18 75194
It stops for a moment. And then it comes down like a water fall.
Mikoto Nakajima 2017-04-25 00:57:28 75195
Mikoto lets it pound on her face for a moment, then looks down, rubbing at her eyes. Letting it fall onto her head, drip down her hair onto her shoulders, and soak into her school blazer. "Sure. Fine. Whatever." She reaches into her coat, withdrawing the amulet that is Carnwennan's Storage mode.

<~*Schleikenmoden,*~> 'stealth mode', it states, as it activates, the amulet growing into the form of a slender, bejewled dagger, a shimmer passing over the girl's clothes as they are replaced by an identical-looking Barrier Jacket. A weak one, focused on stealth rather than defense, but enough to keep them from getting soaked any further, at least.

"I said, scat." She flicks the dagger at the cloud above her, and a flicker of light slides off the tip of the blade as it moves, lancing out towards the cloud.
Sakura Kinomoto 2017-04-25 00:59:12 75196
It lances through the cloud, and cuts it! Some of the puff disappears, and it does let up for a second, only to restart a moment later. Right, cloud.
Mikoto Nakajima 2017-04-25 01:04:55 75197
Mikoto watches the display, and the rain that once again pours down upon her, and finally shakes her head. "Ooookay," she mutters, and another flicker of light starts orbiting her head. Shortly it's joined by a second... a third... within a minute or two, a good dozen or more flit about like fireflies. And with another flick of the blade, the lot of them are sent swirling and spiraling at the cloud, hoping to perhaps disperse it with the force of their passage.
Sakura Kinomoto 2017-04-25 01:05:32 75198
And the cloud disappears! Leaving her free for now and... okay, she DEFINITELY heard a giggle that time. What the heck?!
Mikoto Nakajima 2017-04-25 01:08:37 75199
With a sigh, Mikoto rises to her feet, departing the bus stop. Pacing out into the sun, letting the warming rays pour down upon her. And contemplates that giggle. Someone, somewhere, is laughing at her. This is not the way to endear oneself to her.

Dissatisfcation assuredly fixed in place, she tucks the dagger into a special inner pocket of her blazer, and starts walking again, this time curving her course away from the warehouse. Wouldn't do to have it rain all over her delicate alientronics. That would do rather more than just annoy her.
