Sharing a Little Fate

Lacrima recognizes Takara from the Nightmare Prince battle, and strikes up a conversation. Takara tries to do her a favor. As often happens, this doesn't go as well as hoped.

It's later in the afternoon, after school has let out, and Takara has come to the pier to do a little "sightseeing". Still in her school uniform that identifies her as a Verone student by its colors, she's at one of the many stalls that line the boardwalk, and is buying herselself a couple of ikayaki to snack on while she slowly meanders around. As always, her bokken is stuck in one of the loops of her backpack, which gets her some looks since she's obviously blind, waving her cane around to keep from running into anybody or falling into the sea.
Lacrima 2017-07-06 19:33:09 80068
Lacrima has been mostly keeping to herself since leaving Eilam's earlier- where she's currently properly staying rather than the manor. She's also stopped bleeding that awful and oppressive despair aura, which is good. It means she's reached stable again in so far that an undead vampire that is often not in control of it's emotions is 'stable'.

She is also walking the boardwalk, window shopping in stalls.

Then her eyes rest on the blind girl a stall over, tapping around. With a bokken sticking out. She blinks a bit. Where has... she... seen....

Oh...!

She purses her lips and waits till after her purchase to speak up from behind as not to get in her way. "Hello...?" she asks. "You. You were there during that night. With the nightmares." she says more than asks. "Correct?" she asks. Yeah. Lacrima tends to be direct.
Takara Himura 2017-07-06 19:37:36 80069
Takara Himura stops short in her meanderings, looking surprised at suddenly being addressed by a complete stranger. "I... yes?" she answers, head tilting inquisitively. "I'm sorry. I don't remember your voice...."
Lacrima 2017-07-06 19:46:22 80070
Lacrima continues to speak. "I remember you. But I can see. The samurai also said she knew you. Somehow. She seemed surprised." she says frankly. "I did speak during that knight, but not a lot." she says. "Probably just obscenities at the would be Nightmare Prince." she says frankly.

"What brought you there?" she asks curiously. "I was helping my friend, Ariel-chan- that unicorn." she says softly, as she keeps there.

"Or did you just fall into that mess?"
Takara Himura 2017-07-06 19:52:21 80071
"I..." begins Takara, trying to answer but then is interrupted by Lacrima stacatto series of questions and statements. "Yes. I kind of fell." Her head tilts slightly differently and she points with one of her grilled squid at an unoccupied bench. "Let's sit so we can talk, kay?"

Without waiting to see if Lacrima consents she walks over to the indicated bench and sits down, pulling of a couple of the tentacles with her teeth. "Yeah. The samurai. We have... a past." she explains once the vampire joins her. "A very complicated past that I still don't understand. Has to do with something that happened hundreds of years ago in the dream realm, so you can say that what happened with the Nightmare Prince was kind of in my wheelhouse and was kinda hard to ignore."
Lacrima 2017-07-06 20:02:54 80072
Lacrima does sit down after gripping the hem of that fancy dress she's wearing. "I can get that. The whole. Not understanding because old things you personally weren't there for. Or. Another version of yourself was. Or something." she mutters.

"Oh, so you're one the samurai's friends. Or associates."

"I have another name, but that name is about to be attached to a missing persons case probably any day soon- as I ran away from that life due to a personal incident. So you may just call me 'La Crima'. Lacrima." she says softly.

"Ariel-chan's things is dreams too. I think that's how her and-- Akashimaru. I think is the Samurai's name- know each other."

"Dreams aren't my things. I technically don't have my own really. I guess."
Takara Himura 2017-07-06 20:09:27 80073
Takara Himura winces at Akashimaru's name. She's not entirely certain why the name garners that kind of response since Ichi has been mostly silent about the past save for certain things. "I'm Himura Takara," she responds in kind. "Aannnd, acquaintences. Our respective past lives worked with each other. I don't know the details since mine is being very selective about what she tells me but I get the feeling that things...." she drifts off and waves the squid in an uncertain-how-to-put-it manner. "didn't end well between them."

Then a pause as something Lacrima said earlier catches up with her. "Wait. Ariel's a unicorn?!?" The sheer excitement in her voice is the kind of excitement that you'd hear from a six year old finding a present from Santa on Christmas day.
Lacrima 2017-07-06 20:33:07 80074
Lacrima blinks. "Did you not know? I figured it was common knowledge. Yes. She is." she says bluntly.

"I, myself, am a vampire." she also says bluntly. "Not a blood drinker. Mind you. I drain energy." she says. "Not that I like doing so. But my choices aren't exactly vast." she says.

"But. Being what I am is why I tried to stand against the Prince. I have some of those same abilities. If my circumstances were different. If people did not trying to speak to me and keep... attacking me. I'd probably had resorted to doing what he was doing. Taking loved ones away to turn them into weapons to try to... take over the world or something." she mutters.
Takara Himura 2017-07-06 20:40:37 80075
"Nobody tells me anything," Takara complains with a snort. Lacrima's confession, however gets a "Cooooool!" from the girl. "I bet you don't sparkle, though," she muses. She listens, however to the vampire and nods. "Yeah. I'm also not entirely convinced that he wasn't corrupted or influenced by the Eater of Dreams. It sounds like a thing they would do."
Lacrima 2017-07-06 20:51:36 80076
Lacrima nods. "He was a Prince of Dreams before. But something took away someone he loved. So that happened." she says softly. "There's a book. You should ask Akashimaru about it if you two ever talk. It's in poems, but it's easy to the gist of them." she says.

She rolls her eyes. "I don't sparkle. Only in certain peoples eyes." she says bluntly. Like Natsumi's and Eilam's. :I.

"We know he remembers as such. He's mentioned it. But something has him, or hurt him too much." she says. "Doesn't mean I have to like what he's done though." she says.

She head tilts. "I need to meet that Samurai someday soon. Not during a dream or nightmare incident." she says.
Takara Himura 2017-07-06 21:02:54 80077
"So do I," says the blind girl. "But, yeah. The Eater of Dreams knows how to sieze an opportunity when one comes by." Takara shakes her head. "I mean. I know it didn't cause my mother's depression, but it knew it could ramp it up to a thousand to make my life miserable."
Lacrima 2017-07-06 21:07:37 80078
Lacrima frowns. "I tend to have a base immunity to things like that, if only because my human body was taken and converted into a dark energy mass that serves as my body now. Not that I don't get depressed and worried on my own easily enough because of it. Not to mention I can start exerting an aura that makes others feels such negative emotions."

"R-right. It also stole most of, if not all of, my positive emotional spectrum." she says bluntly. "So if I don't... laugh. or have too much inflection in my voice. That is why." she says. "Not. You or anything."
Takara Himura 2017-07-06 21:12:57 80079
"That...." Takara says, scowling, "Sucks. Like. Really, really sucks." The scowl deepends. "Have you completely lost your ability to laugh, or is it just really hard to find anything funny anymore?"
Lacrima 2017-07-06 21:18:34 80080
Lacrima says. "The emotions don't exist anymore." she says flatly. "I still remember how they fell. So I know if I... should find something funny. But I can't really laugh or smile no." she says. "I can still do humor. But it's this weird.. deadpan humor. Where you don't know if I'm joking or not. Usually. It's clear enough. But not always." she says.

"--and other things have replaced them sometimes." she says. "Not nice things. But... ugh. Sorry hard to explain and the best example is one I don't like to talk about openly."

"I became this way because I bought a necklace two years ago in a second hand shop. Not like I asked for it. So I just kind of. Deal with it." she says. "Even though it's sort of been destroying my life irreparably for a while."
Takara Himura 2017-07-06 21:30:28 80081
Takara Himura purses her lips, and shakes her head. "Naw. I may be blind even I can see that it's not irreparably." She turns to face the sun to feel its warmth on her face. "Think of your life as going through...." she pauses to think up a good metaphor. "... a change. Like a butterfly. A goth lolita butterfly."

Takara turns to face the vampire, "I mean, sure, nothing is going to be the same. But that's just gonna happen regardless of what you do. It's part of growing up. You graduate from school, you get a job, you find somebody to settle down with if that's your thing. Those are really major changes but nobody notices because those are the changes we expect." She reaches out to touch Lacrima, if she lets her. "For people like you and me, we grow up in ways nobody expects. So. For me. When I found out about my, er, history and abilities, I could either lament the fact that I was never gonna be part of that normal anymore, or I could just embrace it!" She leans forward conspirationally, with a huge grin. "Guess which I chose?"
Lacrima 2017-07-06 21:43:09 80082
Lacrima blinks. "My family hasn't been the same since I became this thing. I'm forced to go to a therapist and a mental health professional because my father's culture says this is a good thing while I am prescribed medicines that won't help me in the first place while my father wastes money on more and more expensive treatments, while my mother keeps her distance. Not to mention when my brother found out the specifics, he said I was dead to him. Which is why I have run away from home. Again. Over this issue." she says a little through her teeth.

"What's sad is he's right. Being undead means you have to die first. I almost...I almost chuckled when he said it. Just...." she sighs a bit.

She actually doesn't let Takara touch her. "Please don't...touch. I drain through touch. Not that. I've ever drained on accident, just.... It's a.. trust thing... sorry..." she mutters.
Takara Himura 2017-07-06 21:54:09 80083
Takara Himura doesn't look offended in the least and apologizes herself. "Sorry. Should have known." She shakes her head, though at the rest of what Lacrima said. "I mean, yeah. That sucks. But it's not the end of the world. Or your world. Family is..." another pause to think of the right words. "Fickle. You don't get to choose who you were born from, but in the end you do get to choose who your family is."

She sighs and leans back in the bench and turns her face towards the sun, blind eyes tracking where it should be. "My father left a couple of years ago. He was always there for as long as I can remember, but then he and mom started yelling at each other a lot, and then.... one day... he just left." She lets that hang in silence for a moment. "For the longest time I thought it was because of me. Because raising a blind kid isn't the easiest." She grins and amends, "Because raising me isn't the easiet. But that's what started mom's depression. I still don't know why he left, or why he's never even tried to contact me. Mom won't talk about it. At the time it hurt.... hurt a lot but I think things got better once the dust settled. I mean. I moved back here after being in America for so long."
Lacrima 2017-07-06 22:20:37 80084
Lacrima nods. "You're blind." she says frankly. "But Blindness is a mundane problem. There's things you can do, that can work and can help." she says. "If someone asks you why you are blind, you can tell them." she says.

"Being a vampire without a human body to be restored so there's no hope of even being human again, isn't something that you can help or explain to the average person. It's not really pleasing. To be aggressively asked. 'Why don't you smile anymore, Norie-chan?' but my father- every other day. "I've told him. 'Because I can't.'. And that has never been good enough." she says softly.

She sours a bit. "I know that." she says, about the family. "I know all about. Families. Like that. No one WANTS me to be a part of their family." she says. "Or to be a part of 'mine.'" she says. "So there's a difference between.... choosing your family. And. Whether they will accept that." she says a little coldly.

This is clearly a sore spot for her probably.
Takara Himura 2017-07-06 22:50:03 80085
Takara Himura pulls off her rose colored sunglasses and turns to consider the vampire a good long while. It's like she's looking at something, studying it, even though with her pupils so clouded over that they're almost white she can't possibly actually be seeing anything. There is, however, one thing she can see. The only thing she can see. Normally out in the waking world she isn't able to sense them at all, but if she can concentrate, she can see the cords of fate that tie people together. She's looking at Lacrima's, and while she can't actually read her destiny from it, she can assess how healhty it is. That is, if her fate is her own, or if it's been corrupted by an outside influence.
Lacrima 2017-07-06 23:03:19 80086
Lacrima's 'Cord of Fate' is weird. It one were to assess it on the quality of actual cord- it would be tensile strength in the longevity department. But that's not surprising for someone who is probably effectively immortal. Corruption is a thing here. It's mostly in her color, however. Purple. Bright purple. There's flecks of 'Red' here or there, but they're dormant and dead, but still seem to run through it-- but reek of someone /else's/ fate. Not hers. There are a few that trace off. Into other people who are not here But few is the keyword here. Two are very weak. One is about broken heavily- but not quit cut. There are about four that are average and healthy- one of them is a little more healthier than the other four. There are two VERY strong ones that connect to her. One seems a light pink- and seems almost as tensile as Lacrima's, but in a different way that seems weak at the same time. It shines. Another one is black, but glows with starlight- but it isn't tensile- but still probably beautiful. They both speak of romance and tender feelings- though the main cord itself seems not to understand completely- though still keeps the attachment

She doesn't seem connected to too many people. There's also the fray of once MANY connections that seemed to have been forcibly cut at one time or another. There's damage here.

The overall health is probably 'not very great' when you compare it to your average person- but doesn't seem in danger of breaking. Or corrupting further- though the impression seems to be there's a little less of a glow to that purple on a regular basis than there is right now.
Takara Himura 2017-07-06 23:11:36 80087
"Hm," muses Takara, scanning the cord in more detail than she's ever done before. Usually it's just a quick scan, which leaves the color a more solid reddish tone, and the corruption is like black ichor that it's been dipped in. But this.... this is different. It's like her cord was dipped in this ichor and set to dry, turning it this purple hue and giving it strength.

"I want to try something," she announces suddly. "This... would be easier if you could dream, but I think I can pull it off." Her eyes lift and one could swear that they're radiating a faint blue glow to them. "I want you to see what I see right now. It might.... help." The glow fades, and she lets out a breath. "But I think I need to touch you for this."
Lacrima 2017-07-06 23:14:07 80088
Lacrima frowns. "I can dream. But they are not my dreams as I said. One is more like a place. Than a dream anyways." she says softly. "Go ahead, touch me then." she says. "But just. You know. Warning." she says with a deep breath and maybe just a little soft annoyance- though if she adverse to the idea- she'd just say so.
Takara Himura 2017-07-06 23:37:19 80089
"I have been warned," acknowledges Takara, taking a deep breath. "I think I can do this." She reaches out a hand and lightly touches the skin on the back of one of Lacrima's hands. Her eyes let out that blue glow that grows brighter and brighter until there's a flash and the rest of the world is gone.

It is pitch black. The only people still visible are Lacrima and Takara, and, though, they are not visible, the sound of the people along the boardwalk can be heard. It doesn't sound like they're seeing anything amiss so whatever's happening is happening between just between the two girls. And when sighted eyes adjust to the blackness, the cords appear and become more defined.

Lacrima's is as she's described it, and is clearly visible. Takara's is visible, but kind of hazy, like viewing it from a distance. It's bright red as it stretches out into the distance, and a small, lone tendril has reached out, seeking a similar one on Lacrima. A relationship in the making.

"I've pulled a bit of the dream down around you," she explains. "Which makes it easy for me to ... let you see what I can see." She gestures with a hand to Lacrima's cord. "See that? That's your fate. Your destiny. It's weird. I've never seen anything like it, but as far as these things go it's healthy." She reaches out and points to one of the strong bonds the vampire has. "See these? These are people who you have strong feelings for. Whose fate you're entwined with. I don't know who they are, but I'm sure you do." She gently touches one, wich would spark a memory that particular person. "These," she says moving on to the other healthy ones. "Usually friends or family. And you've got so many! And these," she says, gesturing at the ones that are badly fraying and being very careful not to touch. "Well. From what you've told me they're probably your family. Your fate isn't with them. Probably never was, judging by how easily they've frayed." Were Lacrima to study Takara's, she'd find that she only has one of those strong bonds. All others are weak, and flimsy, and only half formed, and a series of cords that have been frayed and cut.

"Your fate is strong, La Crima-chan," says the blind girl. "And there is hope. You may have to work to find it, but it is there."
Lacrima 2017-07-07 00:16:29 80090
Lacrima blinks as it becomes black and then all she can see is that cord. She frowns a bit. It's purple. and ichor. That's not surprising to her. She eyes the red flecks. "His influence." she says dourly. "This power belonged to another vampire. That's who's dreams and memories I have. He is dead, but an image remains via the power. Like. A rubbing of leaves or gravestones." she mutters.

"Why is it weird to you?" she asks.

She looks at those two. She... she already knows who those two are. She doesn't need to guess who those are as she looks at the others. She then looks to the frayed ones, one on the precipice of breaking in two.

Though this doesn't worry her, it's what she /says/ that bothers her as she snaps down hard on her teeth. There's that depressing aura. The one trying to extend outward and exert.

"I.. I need to.. go.. Now... " she suddenly says as she steps away and-- out of whatever this is as she begins an attempt to actually jog away.
Takara Himura 2017-07-07 00:22:33 80091
As soon as Lacrima breaks contact her vision reverts to normal. Takara blinks, wide eyed at the sudden departure. Confused. Concerned, but not upset. "Okay," she manages to get out before a sudden migrane sets in. "Oh God!" Her eyes squeeze tight, as the effort of expending so much energy to do a little lightshow for a vampire makes the back of her eyes feel like red hot needles are being poked in them. "Note to self, Takara," she says, breathing hard against the pain. "Never do that with somebody you just met again."
