It's a cool summer midday, which means that there are many, many children out playing in the sun while their parents are off doing parenting things. One of the many children out there is a suspicious looking green-haird red-eyed girl sitting in what seems to be a lawn chair decorated with sticks and twigs to make it look like, if anything, the Iron Throne from Game of Thrones.

Lamya sits in the makeshift throne with all the regalness and elegance of a royal princess and, in fact, has a crown made of wildflowers that can be found around the park stuck in her hair. At her feet is the sandpit, with several younger children diligently building a castle monument to her greatness, and off to her side is another girl playing courtesean.

"I think an arrangement can be made," Lamya is saying. "That will satisfy both our kingdoms. I will agree to marry you but you must bring me your dowry." The girls eyes light up, "Really? I... um... I mean, yes, m'lady!"

While he's not quite a child, Kukai Souma is still young enough to enjoy the time after school ends to go out and see what's going on in Tokyo, perhaps find his friends, get something to eat, and generally relax for a while before starting an evening patrol for youma.

King Penguin Park is lovely and peaceful this time of day, and the enjoyable fact is that there's a lot of good things here - happy people, laughing, playing little kids, blooming trees and flowers, carts selling lots of tasty food, babbling brooks, and the shrine in the center. It's one of Kukai's favorite places. So when he catches sight of a strange lawn chair throne in the distance with a semi-familiar looking green haired girl in it, it twigs his sense of disorder and curiousity.

Kukai makes his way over towards the throne and the monument in the sandpit just in time to catch the other girl's last statement. He arches an eyebrow and grins. "M'lady, huh? So are you looking for a tribute of onion rings again?"

Lamya gives Kukai a looks down her nose at Kukai and harrumphs. "I have found something better than onion rings," she announces, waving an imperious hand to her consort who scurries away to pull out her lunchbox. "They call these things..... candy bars." Red eyes glitter with hungry excitement. "I have never tasted anything like it. Truly this century is something to behold."

Kukai hmms, eyeing Lamya and her consort and the lunch box. "Aah... hmm. Yeah, I'm familiar with them. You're going to have your mind blown when you find ice cream, then. Also look out when you figure out what internal plumbing is."

He looks back at Lamya, then the consort, then Lamya again. "You're not just... taking people's candy bars, are you? Or making them give them to you or something?" He rubs his head for a moment. "That's a good question, actually. How are you getting along for food and shelter and such?"

"I have had this ice cream," admits the dragon. "It is too cold for my taste." Then the consort scurries back and offers up her candy bar which Lamya graciously accepts. "I accept your dowry and your hand in marraige," Lamya says to her. "Can we kiss now?" the girl asks eagerly. "Of course. We're now betrothed." They then share a rather chaste kiss, which causes the hapless girl to run off giggling and blushingm, leaving Lamya with the candy bar.

"Of course I'm not just taking it from them," she says to Kukai. "That would be evil, and we have established that I am a good dragon. This is merely..." she sweeps a hand across the scene, "... play." To his last question she answers while slowly unwrapping her prize, savoring the smell and feel of the process. "I am a dragon. I sleep where I want and eat what I want." Which probably means that she's sleeping outside and eating out of dumpsters when she's not conning kids out of their lunches.

Kukai hmms, watching the exchange between Lamya and the consort, trying to judge how serious the little green haired girl is compared to her new - well, that's a smooch, and then the consort runs off, giggling. Kukai sighs. All in all it's not really much different from other little kids playing. Mostly.

Kukai nods and then sighs. "Yeah, it would be evil. And I'm glad you're good. So... as long as it's just play, it's ok." When she mentions the 'dragon' thing again he hmphs and then examines her. At least she doesn't appear dirty or ragged. "Are you sure you shouldn't.. you know.. be looking for your mom or staying at an.. I dunno, orphanage or with a foster family or something? You shouldn't be sleeping outside in the rain or eating just.. whatever you find." Once again Kukai wishes he'd made contacts who could take in abandoned girls, even ones who believe they're dragons.

Lamya chews on the candy bar, eyes rolling in ecstasy. "Mmmm. Heavenly." She sighs, and gets up off the lawn chair to the disappointed "awwwws" of the kids building the sand monument for her. "Of course it's play," she explains. "I may have slept for 1800 years, but children haven't changed that much."

She stops short at the question of her mom. "My mother was murdered by a knight. Besides. Once we are able to fly on our own we leave our mother's sides. She wouldn't take me back without a fight since I'd be encroaching on her territory." The last bit garners a narrowed suspicious glance at the boy. "Why not? It's what I've always done."

Kukai makes a non-commital noise, but secretly lets out a mental sigh of relief. She didn't seem to be actively taking advantage of the other kids, and she was playing and enjoying herself. That was normal. An idle part of his brain considered putting Lamya and Sachiko in the same room, then quietly considered that much crazy as being very bad for everything ever.

Kukai winces at the idea of Lamya's mom being murdered. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring up bad memories. And.. uh.. yeah." He shakes his head, then nods at her. "Well. You're a human girl, you know - and humans, we take care of one another. I mean, wouldn't you want someone watching over you if you could have it? I'm just trying to help."
Dragon Lamya 2017-07-24 19:04:40 80887
Lamya, honestly, doesn't look all that shaken talking about her mother. But... "Human," she repeats. "Yessss. I'm human. Right. We take care of each other." She considers his question thoughtfully, however. "I have.... never need anybody watching over me before."

Kukai watches her for a moment, then nods. "Ok. Well. I.. you don't have a phone, do you? Hang on." He scrapes through his pockets for a moment, pulling a pen from his pocket and what appears to be a random declaration of love from some adoring student at Seiyou to him. Thankfully there's no names mentioned, but the prose was bad enough to make him wince. He tears it in half and writes his phone number on the back of it. "You should get a personal phone of your own so people can stay in touch with you, but here. If you need something, find somebody who'll let you use theirs and call me, ok? I try to keep an eye out for everyone and... well." He shrugs. Telling someone to their face they need looking after usually doesn't end well. "But.. ok. If you wanna keep playing here, go ahead. You take care, ok?"

Lamya peers at the paper. "Okay." She takes the paper and folds it, putting it into her pocket. She strides back to her makeshift throne, much to the delight of the other kids and her consort comes back with another candy bar. "Thank you, consort," she says kindly to the girl. "One question though...."

"What is a phone?"
