Dragon Lamya 2017-09-25 03:33:54 83492
It's late out, so the park is rather empty, and all the shops and attractions are closed at this hour. Lamya can be found on the little island in the middle of the pond, one of the few places she feels comfortable in this strange, new era. It wouldn't be that hard to track the dragon down to this place if one was so inclined. Her few friends know of her affinity for water and nature.

She sits on the bank of the island, watching the frogs sing their autumn songs, dressed plainly in a long skirt and plain green blouse. She hugs her knees to her chest, red eyes glowing faintly in the dark as she contemplates her situation.
Jiaying Maki 2017-09-25 03:43:06 83494
Jiaying Maki isn't actually looking for the dragon, it's just coincidence that she even sees her out there! Mostly in that Jia's the sort of person who likes to go wandering late at night. She likes looking for yokai, yaoguai, hauntings, magical doodads and the occasional free snack delivered by seagull. It was a talking one. She's wearing a simple hoodie and long skirt as she walks past the pond. It's only once she's past it that she stops, turns back and starts to walk along the shore to get a better look of what's out there.

There's a few moments of thought, then she calls out, "Aren't you cold?" What, she likes water herself, but she's not about to go swimming yet. Not this late and all at least!
Dragon Lamya 2017-09-25 03:48:43 83495
Lamya startles a bit, having been too lost in thought to really notice Jiaying approach her. "Gwah!" She's instantly on her feet to face her enemey only... it's not an enemy at all. It's her roommate. Calming, she smooths out her skirt to free it from debris that it picked up while sitting on the short. "Ahem. No, I am not cold. Dragons are able to keep themselves warm under all but the most extreme conditions." She waves a hand dismissively, "After all, most of us breathe fire."
Jiaying Maki 2017-09-25 03:55:04 83497
Jiaying Maki tilts her head and says, "Do you? I always figured they were more about weather and water. But then, the ones I hear about are wiggly and snake-y." She mimics their movement with her hands, or at least how she imagines it. "Never met one, I don't think. I think they were too important to visit our little town of yaoguai."

She crouches down at the edge of the water and reaches out to poke it a few times with her fingers. "What qualifies as extreme anyway? I mean for that. Not for the usual. We had a pretty big blizzard... thing. Card. it was flash freezing a lot of things."
Dragon Lamya 2017-09-25 04:01:53 83498
Lamya shakes her head negatively and joins her roommate in crouching at the edge. "I cannot, no," she admits. "I am a water dragon, so it's more like acid." She fingers her collar absently as she talks, "It is not as strong as it once was, so most people are safe fromm it." She seems to realize what she's doing with her handd and self conciously drops it to her side. "It used to be that a blizzard would be no issue for me and my kind but...." she shakes her head. "Now I don't know."
Jiaying Maki 2017-09-25 04:15:53 83501
Jiaying Maki watches curiously, not commenting yet though. Especially with the sudden change from playing with her collar to quickly avoiding it. "I would have liked the blizzard more if it hadn't tried to squish me or freeze my girlfriend I think." She says this dismissively, like it's nothing new. Settling down, properly sitting with her hands propping her up, she glances over at Lamya. "I don't think I can do the acid thing. Ice maybe. I'd have to try it... why is water acid? You'd think it would be sonic like those uh..." she snaps her fingers a few times, "Those shrimps. They snap their claws at things to get them."

She stops, shakes her head quickly and says, "Sorry, wandered off mentally. How are you liking the manor?"
Dragon Lamya 2017-09-25 04:25:00 83504
Lamya's eyes wander over to Jiaying, her brows furrowing in confusion. "Shrimps?" she just shakes her head. Another reference to another thing in this millenia that she just doesn't understand. "No, both are liquid," she explains. "Poison is liquid as well, but I'm not that kind of dragon," she says with distaste.

Her attention goes back out to the pond at her roommates last question. "I find it constrictive," she says. "Like everything else in this era. People live in boxes, like coffins. So much so, they make special care to create areas like this that are box free." She sighs, settling down, curling her feet underneath her. "But, I suppose, that's what you get when you have so many people. It is like one took every living soul on the globe from my time and crammed it into one city. It's wonderous, confusing and frightening to think about it."
Jiaying Maki 2017-09-25 04:40:31 83508
Jiaying Maki she looks confused and asks, "You're a water dragon and you don't know about the best kind of sea food?" She begins laughing and holds her finger up, curled. "You know, little itty bitty edible things? They look like uh... shrimp. You can buy them! They're tiny!" She isn't sure how to better describe a shrimp without using the word shrimp and sort of trails off.

"I think the coffin thing is a bit unfair. Well, maybe not here in Japan, but even here you get a neat mix of wide open and compact and there's so much going on. You should see some of the hauntings. Not as many neat yaoguai sorts though. Or they're better at hiding than I am. I... was rather bad at it though."
Dragon Lamya 2017-09-25 04:45:39 83509
Lamya's green eyebrows furrow even further. "Ah! The sea. I'm not that kind of dragon either." She looks out over the pond and makes a sweeping gesture with a hand. "Before I was... before I started my hibernation, my domain was the great lake Selene. It was cozy." She turns back to Jiaying, "Hauntings? I must admit I haven't seen many spritis in this country. Maybe next time you find one I could bring The Pumpmkin."
Jiaying Maki 2017-09-25 04:56:00 83511
Jiaying Maki shakes her head and says, "Never heard of it. Do you know any Chinese river dragons? I hear there's a good number. I think there are supposed to be sea dragons too." She scowls briefly, "You'd think I'd know more than the four guardians, but I was always really bad at remembering names you know?"

Glancing over, she holds up her hands and wriggles her fingers, "Pumpkins? If we run into any more I'm probably going to just send them on even if I have to make a new passport for them. I've already been yelled at enough for keeping them around."
Dragon Lamya 2017-09-25 04:58:52 83513
Lamya shakes her head sadly. "I'm not surprised. Apparently between then and now it's disappeared and turned into something of a legend." She squinches her nose as she tries to recall what has been told of her. "Something about a saint, I think." She shakes her head. "I don't know any of the local dragons. From what understand on this side of the world they're somewhat revered. In my day we were feared."
Jiaying Maki 2017-09-25 05:04:45 83514
Jiaying Maki tilts her head and asks, "Like Guan Yu? That's close enough of a translation at least." She crosses her arms and adds, "And he's cooler than the other kind anyway."

Again she quickly shakes her head and leans back again. "Your legends are more fiery than ours. Though we did have the cast iron cooking thing... uh, wasn't my family at least. Thankfully. We were too busy being off in our own little forest."
Dragon Lamya 2017-09-25 05:13:14 83516
"Cast... iron... cooking thing?" Lamya's head tilts echoes that of Jiaying's. "I don't understand." She shakes her head in frustration, as she picks up a stone from the shore and throws it angrily into the pond. "I don't understand anything."
Jiaying Maki 2017-09-25 05:16:57 83517
Jiaying Maki nods and says, "Yeah. Uh, don't worry about it too much." She glances back over. Then at the rock as it skips and splashes. "I don't know how long ago that was, you think I would... It was quite a few emperors back, I know that much at least." She stops, then glances over and asks, "Do you maybe want some help in getting used to the modern world? I had to get used to the mundane side a bit when I first moved here. Friends help."
Dragon Lamya 2017-09-25 05:25:45 83521
"Yes," admits the dragon, though it seems to pain her to do so. "I've been thinking about this for a while. I... have never had friends before. Never needed them." She curls up, pulling her knees to her chest, "But I used to be a great Dragon to be feared. Wyrm of the lake Selene. Now I'm.... just like everybody else I meet it seems."

She sighs, "I wish to go to school here." She peers over her knees to look at Jiaying. "It seems the best way to integrate myself into society. If I'm forced to be human for the remainder of my life, I should at least learn how to be like them.
Jiaying Maki 2017-09-25 05:28:04 83522
Jiaying Maki tilts her head and asks, "You're forced to be a human? It's not so bad is it?" She looks down at herself before adding, "I'd miss my tail if I didn't have it, so I guess I could see that being a big issue." She glances around, then slowly scoots over and tries to give the girl a hug. She likes hugs, as evidenced by her trying to hug Norie any time she seems upset.

"My girlfriend and I go to the same school that Lacrima officially goes to? Could probably cheat that to help you in and you could join our class."
Dragon Lamya 2017-09-25 05:35:52 83524
Lamya stiffens at the hug, unused to the physical contact but softens. "I guess not," she admits. "Human have created great works that I admire. Like donuts and curry." She looks curiously at Jiaying. "Tail?" she asks curiously before remembering, "Oh yes! Lacrima mentioned you were a fox."
Jiaying Maki 2017-09-25 05:38:05 83525
Jiaying Maki nods, "Yeah! Chinese kind. Which is kind of what I was referencing earlier if you have a smart phone or are good with the internet." Beat, "I don't think we had the reputation you would have. We were just localized evil, tricksters or oddities."

"Curry's good by the way, but I'm a fan of eggs. So many fun ways of cooking them and so many things go well wtih them!"
Dragon Lamya 2017-09-25 05:44:23 83527
Lamya just shrugs. "What reputation? My lake is gone, and nothing but a myth. I have slept for two thousand years, and something happened to the magic between then and now, and my powers are greatly reduced." There goes her hand to her neck, playing with the collar again. "But I think, in the end, that may have saved me." She grins at the mention of eggs, her meloncholy gone. "Yes! Eggs are good! My smaller cousins used to live off them, but they were too small for me. When I was a whelpling I fed on fish, which is also good, but soon I got too big for them to be satisfying." Her fingers continue to idly play at the collar turning it around her neck again and again. "Humans have always been so creative with food, even moreso in these times."
Jiaying Maki 2017-09-25 05:47:51 83528
Jiaying Maki shrugs, "I mean more people know dragons than hulijing, I'd say that's something. I don't know if it's a pride thing, but it's interesting. I uh, also keep the ghost of a friend. A friend I made that was still a ghost bound to a stuffed animal because she likes it so... I may be the wrong one to be asking about that sort of thing too though.

"I love eggs, I think that's a family wide thing though. We do chicken too, and a few other things, but I'm sure we're bribable with eggs."
Dragon Lamya 2017-09-25 05:55:06 83532
Lamya nods, and stands. "I will keep that in mind." She turns to face her roommate. "It was ... good talking with you," she says uncomfortably. "Dragons are a solitary species and ... I think I like talking. With you. And Lacrima." She blushes, and turns away abruptly. "I think I'm going to go for a swim." With that her form changes with a *pop* of displaced air, into a small creature that seems half frog, half dragon, which dives into the pond, sending small ripples about the lake.
Jiaying Maki 2017-09-25 06:02:42 83536
Jiaying Maki looks over and listens quietly. She's learning! She does squeeze that hug just a touch tighter for the dragon, former dragon. She'll sort that out mentally later. "Enjoy the swim." She offers as she stands up, brushing herself off, checking for dust and grinning, "Seeya back at the manor next time I'm over there!"
