You Need To Understand

Kukai Souma's brothers have vague memories of being controlled by Sailor Earth, and that Kukai is Sky Jack. That's not normal. Lacrima volunteers to come over and talk to them about the situation, because Kukai and his brothers are having a hard time communicating with all this between them.

It is a rainy, overcast day in Tokyo. This is a good thing, because otherwise it'd be so hot and muggy it'd be unbearable. The rainy days always seem to bring out the youma, but for now at least it seems to be quiet for now. And for Kukai Souma, quiet is good. And bad. Not having to think about monsters or magic outside of the apartment is a bonus. The monsters and magic inside, though...

It's been a week or two since Sailor Earth had mentally enthralled his brothers and forcefully exposed them to magic, including the fact that their youngest brother was in fact Sky Jack, Guardian of Seiyou Public School and thus Tokyo entire. The relationship between him and Kaido, Shusui, Unkai, and Rento since he and his friends had saved them and then shortly thereafter bashed Sailor Earth into Sailor Dirt had been strained. The four of them were exposed to magic now, and Kukai didn't know how to talk to them. So, he'd called for assistance.

And now, he sat in his room, leaning up to look out of the small window towards the road, watching as cars came and went, unable to see who stops. Part of him was also wondering if his help would arrive on the roof, seeing as how they were most of the fifth floor of the six floor apartment building. Probably not though. Not in this rain. After a moment he stood up, pacing the floors again, nervous energy building up, walking back and forth as he had many times in the past few days...

Lacrima was Kukai for a while. This means she has a base familiarity with the inside of Kukai's house, and at least some interaction with his brothers, though not much-- just like Kukai was exposed to her parents and brother. Ryo 'I'm an asshole' Okana. This basically means the rain is forgone completely. Not arriving via a vehicle or walking in the rain or even via the roof.

She just walks out of a suddenly appearing mass of dark mist that dissipates quickly in Kukai's room. She's wearing casual clothes, but otherwise looks like her usual purple haired, purple eyed, pale skinned self.

"Hi. It was raining. Sorry if that made you jump." she mutters. She brushes her sleeve off a little as she sighs. "Who all is home." she asks. "Should I go try to find them myself or you wanna try to gather who you can?" she asks softly, as she sighs and fixes her hair a little, making sure it's behind her, and not a mess all down her front.

Kukai sits up as the darkness appears in his room, and then rapidly dissipates into the form of Lacrima. "Oh. Right. I keep forgetting you can do that." Daichi pops up from where he was sitting watching a ballgame on Kukai's phone and waves at Lacrima. "Hello!" Kukai stands and then bows his head to her. "Thanks for coming. I appreciate it greatly. Can I get you anything before we... get started?"

Kukai laughs a bit. "They're gonna be surprised if I just bring a girl outta my room. That being said, I don't think they're watching the door very closely, so eh." He rubs his head. "Everyone's here, which is why I asked for today. I.. dunno. It'd be easier to talk to everyone at once, but they can be overwhelming when they're together, too."

The question is answered for them as someone knocks at the door to Kukai's room, and a voice echoes inside. "Whomever you're talking with in there, I can hear them." It's Shusui, Kukai's glasses-wearing intelligent brother. "Can I come in or do I need to yell for everyone else?" Kukai glances at Lacrima, then shrugs and moves over, opening up the door for Shusui.

Lacrima tsks. "When one can just pop up whereever they please, it's easier to do that than the other thing." she says. She raises her brow. "Be happy I didn't wear the pretty dress. Think what they might think then." she says with just a wry little coy look. Luckily, she's dressed casually. Black shirt, blue jeans. Sneakers. "Besides don't they think you already have a thing for violettes?~" she asks.

"Anyways le---" and then there's a knock on the door. "....Ah. Yes. Let him in." she says as she gently crosses her arms in front of her. "Hello." she says, as the door opens.
Kukai Souma 2018-09-01 10:37:23 96765
Kukai grins and nods. "The other thing being walking?" He rubs his head, unable to keep himself from laughing at the mental image. "Yeah. And.. yeah. Purple hair is a thing with me apparently." Daichi nods solemly.

Kukai opens the door and Shusui steps in, glasses glinting in the light. Kukai coughs, and then nods to Lacrima. "Shusui, this is my friend Lacrima. Lacrima, my brother, Shusui." Shusui takes her in with one look, then nods. "Should I ask why you're here and wanting to collect all of us together?" His gaze flicks over to Kukai. "And you might not have seen anyone nearby, but that doesn't mean I wasn't listening in. I..." He rubs the back of his neck. "Ever since that day, I've been.. more vigilant. I can hear and see a lot more of the house than I used to from my computer."
Lacrima 2018-09-01 10:51:38 96766
Lacrima was there that day, she drained some of them to put them down less 'hurty'-like. She wonders if she'd be familiar to any of them. She looks to Kukai and smirks. "Yes, walking." she says as she looks towards Shusui. She bows. "I am La Crima, yes." she says. Despite how odd the name sounds, she keeps a straight face.

"I'm here to talk to you about recent events. What you refer to as 'that day'." she says. "Because I've heard some things, and I wish to make things clear. And answer questions." She says quietly.

"Because you need to understand." she says quietly. "It isn't typical for... people to remember things like that clear enough to be... cautious or careful." she says. "Or exhibit things like, 'heightened awareness'." she says quietly.
Kukai Souma 2018-09-01 11:08:53 96767
Whether or not Shusui recognizes Lacrima, he doesn't say anything. He seems like the type to keep his cards close to the vest. "I don't know if it's nice to meet you yet or not La Crima, but greetings." When she mentions her reason for being here, he stiffens a little. "...All right. Go ahead."

After a moment, Shusui's brow knits and he looks over at Kukai. "The day is.. fuzzy. I remember everyone but Kukai were all together in the apartment for a day off, and we were doing different things. I was working on a side coding project I've ben cobbling together, and suddenly the door to my room opened and this girl walked in. She said something and my head ached like I've never felt before, and then my mind.. changed. I wanted to serve her, to do everything she wanted. From there my memory is patchy." Shusui eyes Lacrima. "This is unique as my memory is usually quite solid. I remember holding a weapon in my hands, I remember fighting Kukai, but not Kukai, and several others that I didn't recognize. And then I remember collapsing, asleep, and waking back here at home that evening. Ever since then I've been... watching." His eyes flick back over to Kukai, and then soften. "I don't think you're going to hurt anyone, Kukai, but you have to understand. This is all so strange."
Lacrima 2018-09-01 11:20:58 96768
Lacrima tsks. "Even the fact you remember things 'fuzzy' is extra-ordinary." she relates. "Since many people... they would say 'oh, there was a gas leak in the house' or there brain would say 'Oh, that lady was here to rob us and she knocked us all out'-- even if that's not what happened." she says.

"Right so. I'm going to be honest with you here. I'm going to tell you 'my' story." she says.

"...My real name is Norie Okana." a missing persons right now. If Shusui ever pays attention to the news. "About three or... four now? I forget--- anyways that many years ago. I bought a necklace. It was cursed. It killed me, took my soul, then shoved it into a dark energy construct that needs to drain the energy of humans to keep coherent. This is that form right now. I'm able to... put 'Norie' on. If I want. But... it isn't a good idea right now. For a variety of reasons." she says quietly.

"Basically, I'm a vampire. Ah--don't. Worry. I'm not--- evil." she says. "Not usually anyways." she says quietly. "See... have you ever watched a Sailor V cartoon? or Played the Sailor V games? About a magical girl? Fighting evil monsters?" she asks.

"Basically. All that's real. Yes, Sailor V is real. A real asshole." she mutters.

"But. Kukai. Is involved in this magical stuff." she says. She points to... well where Daichi was. If he isn't there anymore, she'll try to trace her finger to point at him. "Do you see the tiny being right there at all?" she asks, curiously. This is a good test of how 'deep' his heart is into this stuff right now.
Kukai Souma 2018-09-01 11:36:00 96769
Kukai sighs and nods. "Yeah. This shouldn't have happened. There's a magical effect that makes normal people just.. not remember or see magical things." Shusui's brow knotted. "That doesn't make any sense. No cameras or videos or sound recordings or photographs or written words or anything?" Kukai shrugs. "Well.. no, there's a few of those things, but when people see them they don't believe them. Something comes up to make them just.. not believe. That's the magic."

Shusui shakes his head, turning to look at Lacrima and listen to her story. "You're... dead?" He frowns, looking to Kukai, then lets out a slow breath. "That sounds horrible. Wait." He looks back to Kukai for a moment, then to Lacrima. "Is she.. dangerous?" Kukai shakes his head. "No. I mean.." Kukai grins at Lacrima. "I've had to fight her a time or two while she was getting her head on straight, and maybe we don't have the same alliances, but we've had some events happen that've made us close." Shusui nods, then looks back to Lacrima as she continues about Sailor V.

Shusui rubs his chin. "I always thought she was far too bombastic, but .. yes, I've seen some of them. And.. are all the magical girl stories like that?" He glances over at Kukai and lets off a small, tight-lipped smile. "Which magical girl is he?" This elicits an outraged squawk from Kukai.

Shusui cocks his head as she points, then turns, looking right at Daichi. "What? No. A friend of yours? Someone I need to watch out for? Who is it?" He turns, facing towards where she's pointing but peering in closer, eyes scanning back and forth past Daichi.
Lacrima 2018-09-01 11:50:59 96770
Lacrima nods. "Yes. I'm dead. Well I'm undead. I have a soul. It's just. Gussed up by all the dark energy." she says grimly. "Dark energy is... it isn't a good thing. It muddles emotions, make you think bad things- is sometimes tangible bad thoughts no longer abstract and given form. A good deal of the monsters that Kukai fights is made up of it." she says. "It's taken me three years to get this coherent and even then I lose my cool easily." she says.

"Yes...Kukai has fought me a few times. Earlier on. Two-ish years back. Not so much anymore. No reason to." she asides.

"But Kukai is tight. There's an effect that usually hides things like that. You shouldn't had recognized Kukai like that, but you did. In the back of your head." she shifts uncomfortably a little.

"I was there too that night. But the fact you don't remember me, but remember Kukai makes sense. You have a stronger tie to him than me." she says.

"...Do you remember maybe... a year back?" she looks at Kukai and back to the other boy. "When Kukai might had been acting odd?..." she asks. "Well. Me and him switched bodies. It wasn't pleasant." she says. "Was an accident, the result of a magical artifact. But... while it gave me a chance to feel real emotions again. Without the dark energy gussing it up." she says. "Kukai got to understand what it's like to be me and---"

"...look. Lots of people. When I'm a mess. When the dark energy is making me feel very low, Can patronize me. 'I know how you're feeling right now' and similar sentiments. But the fact is... Kukai is the only one that can say that and mean it." she nods.

"-and it's why I consider him a friend. Despite our difference of opinions sometimes. And why I got so upset when I realized that thing in the shape of a girl took you like that." she says quietly.

"Regardless." she says. "You don't see his chara. But you remember what happened in a fuzzy way." she taps her foot.

"You uh. haven't been having odd dreams or anything. have you?" she asks softly. "Any of you at all?..." she asks.
Kukai Souma 2018-09-01 12:10:55 96771
Shusui shakes his head. "That... can't be right. At least, it doesn't feel right. I don't understand it. I hear what you're saying, but something makes me not believe it. But something makes me believe it." He rubs his head, listening. "That's good, at least."

Shusui hmms, then nods. "I suppose that's why I only find hints or suggestions about... anything... online. And.. yeah. Someone shouted his name, and suddenly I saw him as my brother." Shusui nods again.

Kukai starts to interject, but then stays silent, letting Lacrima talk. Shusui starts. "Wait. So you were.. in our apartment, without us knowing?" He looks over at Lacrima and Kukai both askance. "That... That's a lot to take in. You switched bodies..." He rubs his head. "..At least, I understand why you trust her, Kukai."

There is a noise at the door, and Kukai and Shusui both look up. There's a few burgundy hairs that dip back around the corner, and Shusui frowns. "Rento, you might as well come on inside here." There's a quiet moment, then another of Kukai's brothers steps around the corner, the next to youngest besides Kukai, Rento. He bobs his head and waves to the three of them. "Uh. Hi. I didn't mean to overhear things but I.. heard. I mean, the last little bit. What is going on here?"

Shusui glances back over to Lacrima at the end and shakes his head. "No. I mean.." He sighs. "A nightmare or two here and there. Mostly a sense of... dread. That it could happen again." Rento nods, agreeing.
Lacrima 2018-09-01 12:34:17 96772
Lacrima frowns. "I could had... stayed away. But then you'd had worried about Kukai. And Kukai could had stayed away from my family, but then my family would had thought I ran away again. I did my best not to screw up Kukai's life. He did his best not to screw up mine." she says softly. She nods. "A nightmare. And dread it could happen again." she says. "I know this... isn't helpful. But you need to... get away. From that feeling." she says.

"Things like that foster dark energy growth- and since you can perceive some magic- you're more susceptible to it most likely." she says. "--I would suggest that. Kukai invites a purifier over. Someone that can. Blast you with good energy. I can suggest a few if Kukai doesn't know." a pause. "Purification. Eliminating dark energy and negative emotions, replacing it with positive light energy. Good emotions." she says. "Deadly to me. So I'll need to absent for such a thing, my apologies." she sighs a moment.

"As for nightmares...." she just gives a little smile. "My girlfriend is a unicorn that can visit dreams. She might be able to help with the nightmares." she says. "If you feel comfortable with that and Kukai feels okay with that. Ariel-chan is... well she's adorable and kind. She won't do anything to hurt you." she says quietly.

She places two fingers to her forehead in thought. "Right. I am a Dark Energy Researcher. Would be a good layman's term for it. For an organization that I will leave unnamed right now. These things are not an exact science but I can explain some mechanics behind the magic like I've been doing." she says.

"I don't think anyone is going to target you guys again. I will be horribly upset if this happens- and I have resources at my disposal now to give anyone that would try that again a horrendously bad time for a while." she says.

She purses her lips and crosses her arms again.

"I wonder if the witch energy from the grief seeds she was using as a power source touched you all... I... um..."

"Odd question again but have you noticed any sort of mark on your guys bodies? Something like a small tattoo that wasn't there before?" she asks.
Kukai Souma 2018-09-01 12:50:31 96773
Shusui nods. "Well.. we really didn't notice anything. So you did a good job." He blinks, then looks over at Kukai. "I... don't know if we should be blasted with any sort of energy, really. Is that even a thing? Well. I guess since we're talking about it, it is." He looks over at Lacrima for a moment. "Would someone, say... staying in their room and drinking a lot more than usual be a sign of dark energy growth?" He turns, looking at the wall, and Rento and Kukai's eyes both look at the direction he's looking, then at Shusui. "Unkai, you think?" Rento shivers, holding himself. "Oh no.."

Shusui deadpans at Lacrima's next line. ".. Uh. Sure. Send your kirin over in my dreams or whatever." He chuckles, shaking his head." Kukai nods. "Ariel is the safest person I can think of anywhere. You won't even notice her and the nightmares will vanish." Rento pipes up. "I haven't had any nightmares, but she can visit me too! I always wanted to see a unicorn."

Shusui hmms, then nods to Kukai. "I imagine he would be more than capable of defending the house but that sounds good." Rento cocks his head, forehead knitting. "A tattoo? Or a mark? ...Maybe? I had a spot on my side for a day or two but it's gone now. I thought it was just a bruise." Shusui looks over and thinks, brow knitting. "Maybe? I don't pay as close attention to things like that as you do, Rento."
Lacrima 2018-09-01 13:13:46 96774
Lacrima purses her lips. "There is a monster called a 'Witch', and it'll leave a little mark on those it's swayed under it's control, a 'Witch's Kiss'." she says. "I could see that causing things like nightmares and bad feelings. And that girl was using 'Grief Seeds'--- a kind of magical item that a witch leaves behind that can... rehatch into a 'Witch'--- as a power source." she says.

"Though a Witch's Kiss looks elaborate. If it's just a bruise then... it's just a bruise probably." she says.

She nods. "Kukai can fight things. And summon help from others if he needs to." she says.

She gently gives her hair a slight toss a moment as she purses her lips. "Drinking as in... alcohol?" she asks. "I would make sure he's okay, regardless. Drinking so much isn't good in general." she says quietly.

"Just..." she shifts a little as she nods. "I'm worried for you all right now. No one should feel like this." she says. "During the fight, I drained a few of you to... put you all into unconsciousness without also hurting you." she says. "That witch energy is awful tasting. I can't use it. It makes me sick..." a pause. "I don't mean... psychologically, I mean it makes me sick. It's just... monstrous anxiety given form. I can't turn that into what I need to keep coherent." she says.

"Basically it's like eating a really spoiled ham sandwich for me." she says quietly. "If...if my draining caused any of this I apologize. It wasn't my intent to leave lasting damage. It was to prevent you all from needing a long hospital stay." she mutters.

She does nods. "I'll let Ariel know then. I think she's on a small trip somewhere but will be back soon. " she says.

"--and. If you feel you need consulting on things. Just have Kukai ask me over again. I can be here in a matter of milliseconds really." she says "-I know this crap is confusing, trust me. I spent the first year just a fricken mess of negative emotions and yelling and ruining any mundane friendships I had." she says quietly.

"I don't want that to happen to anyone else. And if I can do something to prevent that, I will."
