"Okay, hear me out." Haruna Kurosawa tells Corvus. "Salmon pocket." she says , spreading her hands wide. Corvus is in his seagull form, standing on the counter. He has his wings crosses across his chest. "That's a HORRID idea." he says. Haruna shakes her head. "Nu-uh! Salmon in a Pastry Pocket!" she says. Corvus leans forward, hoping onto Haruna's shoulder. "No. It'll loose money! Stick to the sweet pastries!"

"If people want savory, they can order one of the sandwiches." he says turning away from Haruna on her shoulder.

"Oh come on it wasn't that bad." she says grumpily as she finishes filling the pastry display.

"Frozen drink sales down, hot drink sales upppp." she sings to herself. "I'm gonna need to get the second Hot Cocoa machine outta storage!"

"....the one the card creature broke last year?"

"I'm gonna need to buy a new Hot Cocoa machine!" she says holding a finger up and fishing around behind the counter for the industry catalog.

"I am sooooo glad I took the expense cards from you." Corvus says grumpily.

It was well into the afternoon which meant school was out and she was free to roam as she pleased. There were no shores close to her back home, so the foreigner figured she would take a quick stroll down the shoreline to see what everyone was always on about. When she found herself staring out at the water she had to admit, the sight of the afternoon sun reflecting off the water was quite the sight. And, as if on cue, the blasted mirror in her pocket began to act up.

"Now? Really?" Millie sighed, glancing around to make sure no one was milling about before pulling the mirror from her pocket. After taking a few steps and watching the way that the mirror lit up, she was able to discern that it was leading her towards a... was that a coffee shop? The tall girl titled her head slightly as she quickly put the mirror back in her pocket, confirming visually that it indeed was a coffee shop. Well... there was only one way to find out why the mirror led her here. Millie took a steadying breath before entering Gullwing Coffee.

The overall decor of the establishment was pleasant, but that might be because she was biased towards the colour green. She stood awkwardly in the door for a moment before moving further into the shop proper, glancing at the front counter. There seemed to be someone crouched behind the counter if the waggling finger could be any indication. The girl grinned lopsidedly before clearing her throat.

"Ah, hello there." She greeted in slow but proper Japanese.
Haruna Kurosawa 2018-11-07 03:39:38 99885
Haruna Kurosawa was looking into the industry catalog. "Ohhh the Chocolator 5000!" she says. "The Cocoa Loco!" she sings out. "I could sell so man----" there's a clearing of a throat and she shoots up. Corvus holds on for dear life when she does as she salutes!'' "Ack!" she goes. "Sorry I didn't see you there! Hope you weren't waiting for too long!" she says.

She squints. "Accent.... is familiar. A little off... Americ...can?" she asks. "I mean if you know English, English is fine. I know English good! Er. Well!" she insists.

She walks to the till. "So what can I getcha?" she asks.

Is that seagull whistling innocently? Yeah. Yeah he is.

"What is it you're lookin for?" she asks.
Millie White 2018-11-07 03:51:10 99887
Millie blinked when the other girl shot up with a yelp and... wait, was that a seagull on her shoulder? It didn't seem to be causing her any trouble, perhaps it was a pet? The tips of her ears burned crimson when the other began to squint and scrutinize her accent, and she scratched the back of her head sheepishly.

"Canadian, actually." She said warmly, her lopsided grin returning to her face. The foreigner gently shook her head before continuing in Japanese. "I'm trying to get better at Japanese, if you wouldn't mind." Her pronunciation was good, but she spoke slower and with a bit of an accent. She was thrown off for a second when she swore she heard the seagull whistling. Could seagulls even whistle? That felt like something she would need to look up online later, at the very least.

When asked what she was looking for, Millie hummed gently in thought, her lower toned voice rumbling gently. "One Red Bean Smoothie, please." She paused as she pulled out her wallet to pay for the beverage. "...and some information, if you don't mind answering a few questions?"
Haruna Kurosawa 2018-11-07 04:03:07 99888
Haruna Kurosawa is off to making the smoothie. She gets the Smoothie machine going and starts shoving ingredients in one by one. The seagull whispers into Haruna's ear. Well that's what it looks like. "I remember." she says. "To put the heavier stuff first." she says. Another lean in. "Yessss we have bean paste plenty of it." she says.

She turns back around towards Millie as the machine starts as she whistles and turns back around to face Millie.

"Canadian...." she squints. "Which state is that?" she asks. CLUELESSLY it seems.

She asks. "So what do you wanna know?" she asks.

A pause. "OH! Right. Hi, I'm Haruna Kurosawa! This is Corvus." she motions to the seagull.
Millie White 2018-11-07 04:18:59 99890
The Canadian watched the other girl seemingly have a conversation with her seagull companion. It almost sounded like she was being scolded by the bird, and Millie couldn't help the chuckle that escaped her.

"Canada is the country north of the United States." She said with a smile. It was lucky she paused to think of how to word her questions, because the other girl suddenly introduced herself as well as the seagull. Millie's back straightened and she squared her shoulders, offering a handshake as a way of saying hello.

"It's a pleasure to meet you both, Kurosawa-san and Corvus-san. I'm Millie White." Her tone was firm but gentle, much like the grip of her handshake. After mulling over how she would word her questions, she decided to come right out and say it. "Have you been noticing strange things happening around Tokyo, Kurosawa-san?" Millie's expression was serious, so this clearly wasn't some kind of joke.
Haruna Kurosawa 2018-11-07 04:44:56 99892
Haruna Kurosawa finishes making the drink and slips it into a paper cup and slides it across the counter toward's Millie as she has a seat on her side of the counter. "Go ahead and sit at the counter if we're gonna talk~" she offers one of the many old diner-style seats there.

"White-san then!" she says. ODDLY, Haruna seems super familiar with handshaking. Despite the usual method of bowing. She head tilts though at that questions.

"...mmmmph. What kind of. Weird are you talkin about, if I might ask." she asks in a lower tone. "Like. Girls speaking to seagulls odd. 'Why are there so many gas leaks and teenagers involved in car accidents' odd?" she asks. "....Lochness monster in the ocean odd? UFOs odd? Wha?~" she asks.

She is seeming to take this question seriously. But it seems she wants to know what exactly Millie is asking after.
Millie White 2018-11-07 04:57:13 99893
Millie caught the drink sliding towards her before nodding to the girl behind the counter appreciatively. She quickly handed over the yen for the drink before taking Kurosawa's advice and moved to sit at the counter. The foreigner politely listened to the hints of odd tales that Kurosawa suggested, but she shook her head softly. Well, they could be related? Gas leaks sounded like a good cover up story if she'd ever heard one. Millie leaned over the counter ever so slightly, just enough so that she could meet Kurosawa's gaze. When she spoke, her tone was also low so that no one could overhear them.

"'People trapped in mirrors' odd." She clarified, taking a careful sip of her drink. It was frosty, sweet, and delicious, just what she was hoping for. Gullwing Coffee, eh? She would have to remember this place. Hopefully everything else on the menu was as good as this.
Haruna Kurosawa 2018-11-07 05:24:51 99895
There's no one in at the moment. So Haruna is being more loud about it. Also subtle isn't in her vocabulary. She crossed her arms and leaned down on them as she looked up at Millie as she pondered things. She drummed her fingers across the counter a moment. "I mean... if it's UFOs... haven't seen any, nope." she says seriously.

When she says 'People trapped in mirrors' odd, though Corvus perks up, and then Haruna soon after, shooting upwards straight. "....ermf---ahaha---" she goes rather nervously still. Corvus brings a wing to his face in a 'facepalm' like motion. "Oui." says Corvus.

Yes the bird just talked!

"My apologies." says Corvus. "I think you managed to catch her off guard." he offers.

"Yup....!" Haruna says with a rapid series of nods. "You uh. You a Precure. Or know one?" she asks curiously as she stays sitting up.

"...Also yeah Corvus talks." she asides nonchalantly.

"No this is just an incredibe facsimile of speech." says Corvus with a very visible eye roll to Haruna.
Millie White 2018-11-07 05:27:28 99896
Did this girl have a secret interest in UFOs? That might be the case with how badly she wanted to speak about them, Millie thought to herself with amusement. Kurosawa's reaction was... odd to say the least. Was she nervous? Even the seagull looked uncomfortable, what with the way it was-- SPEAKING? DID THAT BIRD JUST TALK? Millie blinked and did a double take. Yep. He was definitely talking. Kurosawa began asking questions, something about a Precure. Cure for what?

"W-What's a Precure?" She manages hoarsely, still trying to piece together the fact that there was a talking seagull right in front of her. "What do you know about the mirrors? Please, you have to tell me, this is the closest I've ever been to figuring it out!" Her voice rose ever so slightly as she looked earnestly into Kurosawa's eyes. Whatever connection Millie had to the mirrors, Precure or not, it was clear that she was desperately seeking answers.
Haruna Kurosawa 2018-11-07 05:47:15 99897
Haruna Kurosawa blinks rapidly. She shakes her head. "Okay. So. There's these... jerks. The Phantom Empire. They trap people in mirrors and turn their happiness, love... good feelings into a monster. Is any of this ringing any bells so far...?" she asks.

"I mean it sounds like you know a little about what your asking but not a whole lot and I don't wanna risk overwhelming you."

"Too late for that." says Corvus.

Haruna sighs. "Look. I'm trying to figure out how to say this without sounding like I'm calling you odd or not normal... but normal people don't remember things like that. Tell me everything you know, alright? So I can maybe answer you better? Because it sounds like you're looking for something."
Millie White 2018-11-07 05:58:15 99898
The Phantom Empire turns positive emotions into monsters by trapping them in mirrors? Millie's face blanched when she thought back to that night. There had been a man trapped in a mirror, wrapped with red ribbon.... and Kurosawa was saying that the Phantom Empire did that to him? Then that meant...

"That monster was...?" For a second she looked down at her hands, remembering what she had done to take down the monster and make the mirror disappear. She was only half listening to Kurosawa at this point, a little overwhelmed that she was actually finally getting the answers she had dedicated the last year and a bit of her life to finding. She heard her ask what happened, and Millie nodded, her focus returning to the conversation.

"September 14th, last year, Tokyo was attacked. I was on vacation with my family... there was a monster, and a kid and his dog. I just wanted to make sure they were safe." She mumbled, finally able to get this out of her system, to TELL someone. "Something was glowing in the dirt and I picked it up. It turned into a mirror and some cards. I dunno what I did, I just... guessed. But then I changed." She looked up and there was confusion in her eyes, but also a sense of awe. "I changed and I managed to take down the monster. I never found out what the monster was or what happened to me before I had to go back home. I've been searching for answers ever since." Millie looked EXTREMELY relieved to have gotten that off her chest.
Haruna Kurosawa 2018-11-07 21:35:36 99925
Haruna Kurosawa ahas. "Okay. So you're a Pretty Cure!... Precure. For short." she insists. "Erm..." she says. "No guy with red hair and a big white coat has come after you, right?" she asks. "If you see anyone like that. Be cautious. If he calls himself 'Phantom' you just.. get away. Get away unless you have help." she says.

"Sorry... just. That's the danger I warn new Cures about first. But you're not new, you've been one for a year! How don't you know? I swear to god-- if Kami-sama has been lax on the whole talking thing...." she says as she stews as she slides over the counter and walks to the door and closes it and flips a sign. 'Out to Lunch! Back in 20!' the sign says. She turns back around and sighs. "Alright. So."

She reaches into her pockets and produces a mirror that is no doubt the same as Millie's. "This is called a Pretty Change! Mirror. You put those cards in it and you can transform to fight things like that." she says.

"Mhph-- I'm gonna need to take you to Kami-sama-- erm. 'Kami-sama'... Blue-sama. Blue." she says. "He'll explain things deeper than I can."

A pause as she stands there with the mirror. "OH!" she says. "Right. I'm Cure Gull!" she says "So you see a seafoam green magical girl calling herself that, that's me. If you see a Cure who calls herself 'Cure Tide', that's my sister, Aki." she says.

"We're the Ocean Spray Pretty Cure!" she nods matter of factly. "Erm. Unofficial.. group names. Some of us use them!" she beams.

"....Did you name yourself yet?" she asks, head tilting. "I mean your cards need to say something on there..." she says as she peers curiously at Millie for a moment.

Then a pause. "I MEAN---!" she huffs. "You have a name of course, I mean, You are Cure......" she tries to think what's synonymous with Canada.

".....Cure Moose?"
Millie White 2018-11-07 21:59:40 99926
Okay so... this was a lot to take in at once. Millie was lucky that she was sitting for this because the strength would have left her legs regardless. So the transformation she underwent made her a Pretty Cure? The warning about the redheaded man was surprising, especially when she was told to run if she ever encountered him. Weren't Cures supposed to fight evil? Millie's head spun while Haruna went to close the shop for a lunch break.

When she came back holding the mirror, Millie was immediately on her feet, eyes wide. The mirror! It was just like hers! Quickly she fumbled in her pocket for hers, nearly dropping it but managing to keep a hold on it. When Haruna mentioned Blue, a GOD, Millie's eyes flew wide. Was she speaking metaphorically? Did she...did she actually know a God? Gods were real? What had she gotten herself int...?

Millie almost didn't hear the other girl when she asked if she had named herself, and it took her a few moments to realize that she needed to answer. "Uh...yeah," she mumbled, looking at Haruna. "The cards say Cure Shield, and that's what I shouted. I guess that's my name? It makes sense, I mean I have a shield when I change." She mused to herself. "I haven't seen anyone calling themselves Phantom, no. Is he behind the.... well the monster attacks?" She didn't know what else to call them.
Haruna Kurosawa 2018-11-07 22:38:37 99927
"Right, those monsters are called 'Terribads'." she says. "I mean there's other monsters. Other groups. But the ones the Phantom Empire makes are called Terribads. Phantom probably made that one you fought, but the usual culprits around this area is the...." she sighs. "Oresky Trio... Oresky, Namakelder and Hosshiwa." she rolls her eyes. "I understand each area has it's own Phantom Empire problem. Tokyo's are those three goons." she mutters.

A pause as she settles. "aha--- sorry. You seem overwhelmed. It's okay. I promise. There's LOTS of people who get overwhelmed. Just. Take a deep breath and relax."

"Because trust me, this weird stuff kind of settles into second nature once you get adjusted to it." she offers. She pulls out an Apple turnover from the case and slides it over towards Millie. "Here. Apple Turnovers, we're known for good ones! I mean.... they come from frozen but... they're ordered from a really good mom and pop place." she offers.

"Ahaha.. I can't bake to save my life." she says. "Okay, so you're Cure Shield!" she smiles. "....Oh! I knew a Cure that uses two giant tower shields and she rams into people!" she beams. "Cure Boost! But she's been really busy lately." she says.

She puts her mirror away carefully into her pocket as Corvus hops down onto the counter and crosses his wings. "....visiting Blue-sama soon sounds like a good idea. If you had a Cure line, you could talk to us or any other one of Blue-sama's Pretty Cures." he says.

Haruna ohs! "Right. Lots of 'Cure' groups. Me and you... the ones we are-- with the mirrors and cards protect Earth. There's a lot of us. But there's other..." she scrunches her nose.

"Look, so I'm gonna be blunt because... like? I suuuuuck at this subtle and careful thing!" she says cheerfully. "So---"

Corvus pipes up. "--So that's why she has me." he says bluntly. Haruna makes a face and stews as she crosses her arms and sits down with a 'hrmph!'.

Corvus brushes a wing against his head. "There are other dimensional worlds. Some of them are important to the... well being of this one. Like- as an example- Marchenland.. is where all the fairy tale characters live. If bad things happen there.... it starts showing here. Stories.. influential ones, start disappearing or changing in bad ways. And so on." he says. "--recently, a lot of worlds have come under attack. These worlds have destined heroes, Legendary Warriors called 'Pretty Cure' who'll rise up to protect them." he says. "That's how it normally goes."

"We're a little different!" Haruna pipes up. "We're not some destined heroes. I mean. We have something special, sure... that sets us apart from non-magical peoples. Just like all magical girls. But we weren't born with this destiny like the other Pretty Cures." she says.

Corvus nods. "Haruna-chan is correct on that one." he says. "It is a little different. But Pretty Cures still all share a similar origin. Regardless of who or what they protect." he says.

Haruna Kurosawa nods matter of factly up and down. "I'm sorry you've been like. Confused for a year. Heck. Some people find being confused about this for a week unbearable." she says.

"...Do you want us to arrange a meeting with Kami-sama? Or do you want us to tell Kami-sama about you and have him approach you?" she smiles.
Millie White 2018-11-07 23:07:16 99928
The monster she fought was called a Terribad, and it was likely created by some guy named Phantom. There are other 'goons' in the area, three of them, and apparently each area had their own Phantom Empire problem. Was this a global issue? There had been nothing out of the ordinary back home in Canada, so maybe it was only specific areas? Millie let out a little sigh when Haruna noticed she was a little overwhelmed. The taller girl smiled when she was offered a turnover and, before Haruna could stop her, she checked the price and placed the proper amount down on the table.

"Thank you, Kurosawa-san. It's a lot to take in at once, but I think I get the gist of it? So far at least." The gentle giant said, looking to Corvus when he began to speak. She silently began to eat the turnover. Oooh boy, did he just say dimensions? They dealt with other dimension used as an example seemed tame enough, but just how many dimensions were there? No, that's not the important part, focus Millie! Haruna mentioned that they were different in the sense that they weren't destined to be heroes. Did that mean it just... happened by accident? It could have been anyone?

Haruna apologized for her confusion for the past year, and when Millie looked at the shorter girl, the confusion in her eyes melted away to a gentle warmth. "Don't apologize, it's alright. At least I'm finding answers now, right? You're honestly helping me a lot right now and I can't thank you enough, both of you. " At the question of meeting Blue, the God they had mentioned, Millie let out a thoughtful hum.

"I think meeting Blue would help. I mean, the faster I learn about everything, the faster I can help out." She said resolutely, and she had every intention of doing just that. It didn't matter that this role wasn't destined to her by fate or that it took her so long to find the answers she needed. It was a role she had, and she would complete it to the best of her abilities.
Haruna Kurosawa 2018-11-07 23:35:26 99929
Haruna Kurosawa nods. "If you need to contact me, you can find this place in the phone book~" she teases. "But..." she gentle tugs out a carefully made business card and hands it over. "Here. That's my personal cellphone on there." she says as she smiles.

"--I'll have Corvus bug Blue-sama tonight and either I can get your number and call you or you can check back tomorrow or call me or whatever." she says.

"Walk around. Meet others. Also..." she says. "...you know how to transform right?" she asks. "At night. Slip out. Transform. Fly around. You're bound to smack into other magical girls besides us Cures." she says.

"-also. Don't be afraid to ask that question you asked me when you came in."

"I mean the 'strange things' question. Worst is you get an odd look, really. Best, they reply like I did--- see..." she bites her lip. "... normal people don't see this stuff. Or they do and they reationalize it as something completely different. It's why I asked about 'gas leaks'. That's the usual excuse for ... people falling down enmasse from an energy drain." she says. "'Gas leak'."

She nods a bit a little more before she says. "Oh-- right!" she says as she runs back to the til. "No charge~ Today. Other days. 20 percent 'Tokyo Hero' discount." she nods matter of factly.

"It's gonna be the evening rush soon so I need to get ready for that! I mean. You don't need to go, but I'm gonna be busy busy!" she says.
Millie White 2018-11-07 23:54:08 99930
Millie carefully took the business card. When she came to Japan to find answers, she never thought she would be accepting a business card from what she could only describe to be a Magical Girl. She quickly scanned the number with her eyes before placing the card in a secure pocket.

"Well, I transformed once by accident a year ago, I think I can manage it on purpose." She joked, even though she was curious about the 'other magical girls' mentioned. It wasn't that big of a surprise that normal people didn't generally see what went on, likely until a monster was right in their face. The mention of energy draining made her want to shiver, but she resisted. What had they passed off the monster attack a year ago as, she wondered?

Haruna returned to the till, and even before she was done speaking Millie was gently shaking her head. "I insist. Someone put that turnover together, it doesn't feel right not paying for it." The gentle giant said resolutely, softly pushing the yen towards Haruna on the counter. At the mention of the evening rush, Millie looked at a clock. Twenty minutes was almost up anyhow, she thought with a sigh.

"I think I've bothered you enough, Kurosawa-san. You've been extremely helpful and I really appreciate you taking the time to clear some of this up, especially when you're at work." Millie said warmly as she stood, ready to take her leave and let Haruna get back to work.
