Rei drops by Gullwing Coffee to check up on Akari. The verdict is good.

When Akari had Sailor Mars escort her to Gullwing Coffee, she insinuated that it was a place where she was staying, or perhaps merely where she could be found. And so, on a chilly late afternoon, during a few moments where there aren't any customers at the moment, Akari is sitting behind the counter.

She's wearing a simple gray dress, an apron, and a nametag; she's pretty much exactly how she looked when she de-henshined during the cereal youma incident. She looks ... well, at the moment, the tall Belkan girl looks like she's perfectly all right. A little bored, maybe, but that's to be expected when there aren't any customers around. No sign of any hidden grief or trauma or anything like that.

... Her infiltration-mode's skills are kind of uncanny, even to herself sometimes.

Akari's had a proper garbage time lately, and Rei Hino only knows half of it. Granted, the worse half of it. Rei enters the cafe, hands stuffed into the pockets of a red jacket over a tutleneck that's just subtly purple enough not to be black.
She doesn't ring a bell at first - just a pretty girl - but she recognized Akari easily enough, having sought her out. She glances back and forth between Akari and the counter, and decides not to bother with pretenses, simply approaching Akari and clasping her hands together. "Excuse me. Hello. Akari-san?" She greets, her expression already a bit apologetic in how strange and sudden this must seem. "You may not recognize me, we've met... 'working'."

Akari smiles as Rei arrives. "Welcome to Gullwing Coffee!" she says. For all she knows at first, this is just another customer.

She blinks. "Working ...?" And then she just seems to ... crumble where she's sitting. All pretense of normalcy fades, and she looks like someone who, emotionally if not physically, has gone through the wringer. She's markedly better than she looked immediately after the incident or on the way home; she has been recovering, for most of the intervening time. But she's nowhere near fully recovered.

"... oh," she says. "Um. Hello. Sorry, I, um, don't recognize you, but ... yeah." She manages a weak smile. "Um, what's up?"

Rei's usual confidence cracks a bit at Akari's exhausted reaction, a sad looking coming to her eyes and no small amount of worry, as she has to fight the reflex to try to actually *catch* Akari even though she isn't actually falling.
In want of a strategy, Rei tries a smile a little. "I... just." She clears her throat. "I wanted to check in and see if you needed anything. Any help or..." she shrugs a little helplessly, "Anything. I'm-" she glances at the entrance - nobody there - "-I'm the one who brought you back here. Lacrima-san asked me to look at for you and... I figure that still stands. You know?" Rei says, feeling... uncomfortable as she rapidly realizes she didn't have a plan here. But the incident with Saint George has been bothering her ever since it happened, and she wanted to at least offer to help.

Akari blinks as she suddenly 'recognizes' Rei now. She nods. "Right," she says softly. "Well ... I've been doing my best to talk to people -- get advice and things." I learned the hard way not to ... withdraw. Took less than a day, though! And, and Sakura-imouto and Cure Shield have been helping a bunch." She shrugs. "I've definitely been ... recovering, basically."

She hesitates. "... a-aside from when my Linker Core got stolen by the figures of an old Belkan myth a week afterward, but, uh ..." She grins nervously. "That's ... a completely different kind of recovery to worry about."

Rei nods slowly, her expression brightening with relief as it becomes clear that Akari has gotten a lot of support, saying, "I'm glad." genuinely. The good feeling gets shot down a little, though, and she winces at Akari's predicament. "... Oh. Yeah. We've been hearing a lot about those guys." She sighs, "I'm glad you're okay."

Akari nods. "... It was on ... the ninth, I think," she says. "I glitched out a bit, but Sakura-imouto got to me with, uh, with a Device I have for maintaining myself."

She holds out her hand, palm up, and there's a faint flicker of rose-red light above it. "That's all I can do at the moment, but ... I'm basically out of the woods as far as worrying about the spell for my body running out of mana. I'll probably be able to talk to Rubindorn in a couple more days."

She manages a bigger smile. "... Thank you ... Mars-san," she says. "You've been ... sort of been around a few times ever since I decided to quit Eclipse."

Rei smiles warmly at Akari's thanks, seeming to suppress a giggle at the way you address her, like kids in on a secret, despite herself. She's not used to being called that out of her magical suit. "Ha... You're very welcome, Akari-san." She tilts her head slightly with a smile. "Us magical types... look out for each other you know?"
Rosalie Janus 2019-02-01 04:57:30 103266
Akari nods; there's a hint of actual cheer there. "Exactly," she says. "I mean ... it's the whole point, isn't it?" She pauses. "Um. Speaking of which, if you want to get anything while you're here, magical heroes get a fifteen percent discount." She says this perfectly normally, as if she was just reciting any other customer service policy.

Rei blinks owlishly for a moment, then visibly struggles not to laugh, putting hand over her mouth and dodging her eyes to the side before shaking her head. "You know what? I think I'll take you up on that."
