Lamya likes coming to the park from time to time. It's wide open, and filled with nature, and there's a pond in the middle of it, so it reminds her of a home that's been forgotten to the distant past. Right now, she's squatting at the edge of the lake, surrounded by a couple dozen of frogs, and she seems to be having some kind of conversation with them.

"Gero gero," she says to them. They ribbit back her her and she gero's at them again, nodding as if they had told her something of import.

It's a chill, overcast, moist day in Tokyo, so the park is even closer to the wilderness than usual. This is usually the time when youma come out more than usual, so patrolling during dark days is important. That being said, not everyone involved in patrolling is completely on guard.

A small figure, not even a foot tall, with blue hair and a green tennis outfit with white shorts and little tennis shoes lands on a rock nearby to Lamya and the frogs. Daichi watches their conversation with a slightly agape mouth, somewhere between confused and fascinated. He can't tell if she's actually talking to them or just making noises at them. Still, it's.. really something!

When Daichi gets too close the frogs scatter into the pond, leaving Lamya there by herself. She looks up to see who had scared them away and find that he had been watching her have her private little conversation. Lamya stands up, and smooths out her skirt, and looks about. Where there's a Daichi, there's a Kukai. "Daichi-san. Kukai-san. It is good to see you again.

Her head tilts at Kukai's agapeness and mentionis, "You might want to close your mouth. A fly might wander in, and while my amphibious friends might enjoy that, I've found that humans do not."
Kukai Souma 2019-02-13 02:44:33 103508
Kukai was in fact close behind Daichi, who'd flown on ahead while he was jogging. Today's outfit was long, warm pants and heavy jacket over a light shirt, with a hoodie. He closes his mouth and glances at Daichi, who looks at him and does the same, before shaking his head, tossing the hoodie back. "Ah.. hi! Sorry. Did he - we - interrupt something?"

Kukai grins and then nods. "No, insects aren't exactly the best thing in the world to eat, although they say everyone's eaten a spider while they sleep at one point or another. Which is weird." He bows his head to the green haired, red eyed girl. "How are you doing? I haven't seen you in a little while."
Dragon Lamya 2019-02-13 02:48:39 103509
Lamya considers the question with perhaps more thought than necessary. "I'm doing reasonably well. Since we last met I have found my Princess and we have started dating." She purses her lips and looks wistfully out onto the pond. "I'm finding that it's a unique experience. Something that I would've never considered doing were I still fully dragon." She blinks and turns back to Kukai. "Oh! I'm partially human, now, too." She flashes a polite grin as she asks, "How are you doing yourself?"
Kukai Souma 2019-02-13 02:58:26 103510
Kukai grins. "Oh, you did find her? And you're getting along? That's good!" He moves over towards the pond to look out at it as well. "mm. I know what you mean. I didn't date anyone for years because it didn't occur to me. Then it hit me like a purple haired ton of bricks." He grins. "So you're saying you've grown since you gained a human form? And that being completely dragon was... holding you back?" He grins, knowing he's teasing her just a bit.

Kukai shrugs. "Well. I'm ok. It's nice in a way to not have to have a job to pay for someone's Valentine's candies, but there's all the rest of it that you don't get. And the monster hunting thing is good - there hasn't been anything really huge come forward that I've heard of in a bit." He grins and rubs the back of his head. "Or maybe there has, and I just haven't been listening. In either case, the planet's still in one piece and noone's screaming over HeartNET."
Dragon Lamya 2019-02-13 03:02:00 103511
Lamya's head tilts curiously. "Valentines Day candies? What's that?" It seems like this is yet another modern holiday that Lamya has no experience with.
Kukai Souma 2019-02-13 03:07:27 103512
Kukai huhs, looking over at Lamya and then ohs. "Right, you wouldn't know. Uh. It's a modern holiday, on February 14th, where you spend it with the person you're having a romantic relationship with or someone you'd like to have a relationship with. Usually you give them a gift, like a small box of chocolates, if you're not in an active relationship but you want to show interest, and you might give out several of those. Or if you're in a relationship, you give them more and nicer chocolates, or roses, or take them out to dinner, or any sort of romantic thing for two people."
Dragon Lamya 2019-02-13 03:10:06 103513
Lamya listens to Kukai with rapt attention. "I am still new to this thing called romance. It's a ... " she blushes a bit "a foreign concept to dragons and I'm still learning about it." She all but drags the boy to one of the benches to sit down at. "Tell me more. Why roses? Why chocolates? Will donuts do instead?"
Kukai Souma 2019-02-13 03:26:55 103514
Kukai smiles. "I know what you mean. And maybe that's the best thing about not being totally dragon - you get to experience all this new human stuff!" He is dragged over to a bench and sits down, as Daichi follows them over, flying up to land on Lamya's shoulder and grin at her.

Kukai hmms, rubbing his chin. "Well, sure. Roses and chocolates and jewelry and cards are all traditional and sort of... they're the things suggested by the people who sell Valentine's gifts, does that make sense? If you have something that you and your girlfriend think of as 'your thing', that you share together that makes you both happy, then you can do that." He coughs for a second, then continues. "Nadeshiko and I used to visit this cafe on the north end of the park that sold coffee and pastries, and we'd go there on special days. It meant something special to us. Understand? If it means something special, then whatever it is, that's good."
Dragon Lamya 2019-02-13 03:31:21 103515
Lamya absentmindedly pats Daichi on the head as she listens to Kukai try to explain Valentine's Day to her. When she hears about doing Something Special she grins, "Like taking my Princess out for a flight! I did that on the first date. I was very worried that she might be scared, or might not like it but it turns out that she enjoyed it very much." She thinks about this some more before musing, "Perhaps this time I will fly her out over the ocean so we can see the stars better." She looks up at Kukai hopefully. "Does this sound appropriate?"
Kukai Souma 2019-02-13 03:35:59 103516
Daichi practically wriggles under the headpats as Kukai nods. "Right! A flight would be awesome. As long as it's something you do for the person you like and she likes it, that's perfect. A long flight over the ocean would be great." He thinks. "I would say if you knew a little island somewhere or a place that doesn't have a lot of lights around, where you could share some donuts or something, that'd be great too. See? You understand Valentine's better than you thought you did!"
Dragon Lamya 2019-02-13 03:38:48 103517
Lamya claps her hands excitedly. "Excellent! I will make this the plan, then! And this time I will make sure to get somebody else to cook our dinner." From the sound of it, her homemade cooking didn't go over so well.
Kukai Souma 2019-02-13 03:43:40 103518
Kukai grins and pats Lamya on the back. "Attagirl. Go get 'em. And yeah." He makes a face, smiling and grimacing at the same time. "I can't cook at all. Cooking sucks." He thinks for a second, then nods to her. "Any more questions of any sort?"
Dragon Lamya 2019-02-13 03:48:40 103519
Lamya nods sagely. "It turns out that I cannot differentiate between things that are spicy and things that are not spicy, so when I attempted curry for my first date, she was unable to eat it," Lamya says sadly. "It was a low point to an otherwise delightful evening." She thinks about what other sort of questions she might have for Valentine's day. "What do people who do not have princesses do for this day?"
Kukai Souma 2019-02-13 03:57:06 103520
Kukai chortles and then shakes his head. "Oh no. Sounds like you made a chemical weapon, not a food. Was she all right?" He pats her on the back.

Kukai sighs, then shrugs. "Well. As I am recently without princess, I'm planning on giving out a few token candy boxes as a kindness, maybe going to a party if there is one, probably going out on patrol early to cover the city while everyone who's got a date enjoys it, and going home early."

Kukai grins. "As a guy, my problem is White Day, which is a month after Valentine's Day. Any presents I get on Valentine's Day, I'm expected to return, only larger, on White Day." He sighs. "And there's always a pile of chocolate boxes and things in my locker at school and there's this one rich girl who gives me these giant boxes and doesn't think about how much it'll cost to return the favor, so..." He shrugs. "Oh well. Better than the opposite, I suppose! But the day itself isn't very important if you don't have someone."
Dragon Lamya 2019-02-13 03:59:42 103521
Lamya tilts her head. "What an odd custom," she says. "I am not sure I understand. So," she says squinching her eyes as she thinks, "If somebody were to give you a chocolate, you are expected to give that person back two chocolates?"
Kukai Souma 2019-02-13 04:04:36 103522
Kukai nods. "That's it. It's.. well, if you're in love with someone, or seeing them, then you want to give them a big gift. But for me, it's more a social obligation, and it can be sort of expensive and hard to track everyone down. But I've managed for the past few years." He laughs, then nudges her. "Why, are you thinking you'll give me a bunch of chocolates and expect me to give you back double your return later?"
Dragon Lamya 2019-02-13 04:09:05 103523
"It would seem like a smart investment," admits Lamya. "I do not see why people wouldn't do this simply to gain more chocolates than one gives." She shakes her head, "It seems rather selfish for a holiday that is based on romance."
Kukai Souma 2019-02-13 04:24:20 103524
"Ah, but, if someone thinks you're just giving them candy to get more back later, they aren't obligated to give you anything, or to give you low quality or bad candy." Kukai wags a finger at her. "It's not meant to be abused, and it's not about just giving candy. You're giving a token of your romantic interest, or showing a friendly obligation."

Kukai hums, then nods to her. "Well. I'll try to get back in touch with you later and see how your date went. Sound good?"
Dragon Lamya 2019-02-13 04:28:23 103525
"I see," Lamya says, nodding. "It is more of a social statement of the status of your relationship, then." She looks up when Kukai. "Yes. Sounds good." Blink. "Oh! Before you go, I have acquired a cell phone!" She reaches a hand in a pocket in her skirt and pulls out a fairly simple smartphone. "I have been learning how to text and call people with it! I shall give you my number, and should you find yourself in need, you can reach me."
