Everyone's Really Okay -- Really

After 'Corporate Corruption', Mamoru loaned Homura his car to get home, and rooftopped Hannah back to her dorm room to heal her some and let her sleep it off. Now she's awake, and since he slept on her couch, they discuss why one should not use corrupted energy sources to boost one's power level over 9000.

Hannah, predictably, feels like she has the absolutely worst kind of migraine. She coughs as she awakens. Her henshin isn't on, the girl far too exhausted for even that much magic. Her face has paled several shades, and merely moving has her groaning.

She'd been tossing and turning in her sleep the entire time.

At least her bed feels familiar, room smells familiar, the acoustics are familiar -- but not remembering having gone to bed is kind of a wretched feeling, especially when your last few moments conscious were after being out of your head.

This all wakes the light sleeper on Hannah's couch, and after a couple of seconds, a yawning and familiar voice is audible at her bedroom door. He's not sure where Boris is, but he isn't calling WPS HQ to see if Viktor is there; he's still not sure where he stands with anyone or which of what he knows is true, so it's just him:

"Hannah-chan," Mamoru says, voice low as he comes in, "you're okay, I took you home. Homu-chan will be okay too. Everyone's fine." His hands are usually warm whenever she's fortunate or unfortunate to come in contact with them, but right now it's cool on her forehead. "You have a fever and some other crap going on, I'll get you water and aspirin in a minute."

Cool and with the barest whisper of energy granted, just to take the edge off the migraine.

"Mamoru, you're alright!?" Comes her gasp as his hands touch her forehead. She grips them. They're uncharacteristically weak.

Her teeth grit. There's frustration in her voice.

She lets out a sigh.

"Thank God." The sharpness of her headache fades a little bit. She can at least think now.

"...I really screwed this one up, huh?" Scowl. She runs a hand through her hair.

"They're all really okay?" She asks again. The thought of her friends seriously hurt because of /her/ sends spikes of guilt through her.

"I'm fine, they're all really okay, they talked you down. I have zero idea what actually happened, I was kind of bloody and there was some kind of bite on me but I was fine enough to rooftop you here," the upperclassman says amusedly, then sits on the edge of Hannah's bed and doesn't pull his hand away from her.

There is a casual wall there where there wasn't before; she's touching him still, and nothing's happening, there was only that small stabilizing burst. "All I remember was seeing you jam four of those things in you, the feedback must have knocked me out."

It's only a small lie: Homura told him there were things she needed to talk to him about. Someone said something about a witch bite. There are things he could piece together if he cared to, but he doesn't care to, not right now.

"Ao-chan is fine, too. You were the only one who couldn't leave under your own power, and it was because you really screwed up and did something legendarily stupid," he tells her cheerfully. "And I'm going to say 'I told you so' even if I didn't, because I'm pretty sure the sentiment's been there the whole time."

Hannah, on the other hand, sifts through her memories. She has a pretty good idea.

"I think I do."

"Last thing I remember was seeing Ao-chan frozen. Then the ice prizon around me broke after the grief seeds fell out of my pocket."

"I was angry. 'Murder everything trying to touch Ao' kind of angry. The parts of my Linker Core I used to create them responded and sucked back in all of that magic at once."

Realistically, she should be dead. She's not sure how she isn't.

A mystery for another day.

"That's all I have. Everything else is a mix of voices and raw, feral wrath. I...I couldn't keep it all in. It was too much."

"...You get to have that one, Hat Guy." Sigh.

Her mood turns darker. "Sorry. I should have known something like this would happen eventually. I've always been too weak when it finally comes down to me needing power." Whump. A fist into her palm.

"Jeez, how am I going to make up for this one?" There's no fire in her right now. She's just too exhausted. Part of her wants to throw herself at her friends' knees. Thankfully, Hannah has far too much pride for that.

"Maybe try saying sorry and then stop doing dumb things?" suggests Mamoru, and it's not cheerful and it's not sarcastic, it's actually an honest suggestion -- there's affection behind it, but this isn't the first conversation he's even had this weekend that's like this, so there's also a fair amount of tired.

Then he brushes his hand across Hannah's forehead, and finally pulls his hand away. "But hey, here, have a silver lining, even if it's just mine. While I was knocked out I dreamed my princess was protecting *me*. How's that for a nice swerve?" Wry smile. "Anyway, right now you should just sleep for real. I'll go get you that aspirin, unless you've got something stronger you'd rather take."
Hannah Sharpe 2015-09-21 15:27:33 10072
Hannah smirks a bit.

"...Well, 'dumb' things are sort of in my nature. A hazard of my dreams, I am afraid."

That smirk fades though.

"But I should tone it down a bit. Try to make sure what I find doesn't end up turning me into a horrible monster."

"...She was beautiful. You're lucky, you know? Some silly girl comes up on you and tries to bite you, she comes on in and gives that /look/!" Huff. Blush.

Wince. Ugh.

"Yeah. Aspirin. Sleep." She curls up a bit on her bed. Not ten minutes later, something big and fluffy curls up in the bed with her.

There's only one of Mamoru's patented small, crooked smiles, and then he gets up from the edge of her bed. He doesn't really have to say anything about anything; she knows him, and the quality of his silence changes enough to be conversation in and of itself.

It might be before she's asleep or after, but the aspirin bottle's left next to the glass left on the coaster already in place, and either way, Boris' head gets ruffled.

If Hannah's already asleep, it's only Boris who hears him say, "I'll check in tomorrow unless you need me and let me know."

He's turning into crisis scheduling conflict kamen: having friends is so HARD. But-- he's smiling when he leaves.
