Friday afternoon, after school ends but before most families eat dinner. Tsubasa is still wearing her school uniform, just adding on a white jacket with hoodie that's used to conceal most of her hair. She's sitting on one of the swings, without really using it in any way. She sighs, "What would you have if you were here, Kanade." She asks of the air.
There is definitely some action in the park this afternoon. Afterall more then one school has let out for the weekend. Today there is someone in the park practicing with a bo. There is a small crowd gathered around, watching as this particular young woman doing a kata. Someone has even turned on a radio so soft music is playing.
Shinobu Kimura is lost in her practice. The addition of soft music has helped her set a tempo to her kata as she combines a blend of strikes with her bo, punches, kicks, blocks, and twirkls. She pulls a roundhouse kick with a twirling strike behind her with her bo. Then with pinpoint accuracy she tosses the bo high in the air and pulls a double spinning kick before catching the bo and dropping down into a split.
It is a truly peaceful thing for her. The relaxation brought about by just practicing with the weapon is enough to brush away the stress of the school day. Sure she has homework. She has studying to do not to mention her other extracurriculars that tend to be quite pressing. Still this makes things better for her. So on she goes.
It takes a while for Tsubasa to notice the source of the commotion, but when she does, she starts paying attention. And it's the kind of paying attention that's not about the flashy maneuvers, no, the hooded idol's eyes pay far more attention to things like form and practicality.
After watching a while, she approaches the bo wielding girl, humming along with the music. The humming is perfectly in tune, of course. "You're pretty good." Tsubasa eventually compliments, keeping the hood down to mostly obscure her famous face. It seems like she's trying to avoid being recognized.
Shinobu Kimura continues doing her kata. It doesn't last too much longer but as she continues her actions become more aggressive. She's definitely keeping in tempo with music. It's clear she is having fun as she shows that the bo is as much a part of her body as her arm or a finger.
Then the music starts fading and a hooded girl approaches. The practicing girl twirls her bo once more and brings it down beside her, planting it beside her and leaning on it. Its a bad habit but its one that she clings to. "Thank you. This was just some Kata. I've been doing kabudo since I was eight. My mom insisted." She gives a small smile and then bows to the those who were watching her.
Finally she goes back to this strange hooded woman. "You sing well. I heard you while you approached. Old habits die hard I guess." She moves over to a bench and takes a seat. Her school uniform is muddy now but she doesn't seem to mind. She will wash it later.
"I was just humming along." Tsubasa deflects the compliment apparently thinking little of it, moving to follow along with Shinobu, when the wind blows and reveals the very face the idol was trying to conceal, along with the distinctive blue hair. She's famous, and has a concert coming up soon. "I guess I might as well introduce myself, now. Tsubasa Kazanari." Name fits the face, at least. "And you are?"
"Wait. Tsuvasa Kazanari as in the famous singer who I hear on the radio? I umm... I honestly wouldn't know. I've never seen pictures of the person behind the voice. So I will just accept that you are who you say you are." The high school girl gives a warm smile as she stretches. The breeze doesn't really seem to bother her so much.
"Oh umm, My name is Shinobu Kimura. I'm a student at Infinity University. I only just started there recently." She beams a little, "So what brings you to the park today Tsubasa-san?"
"Yes, That Tsubasa Kazanari." The idol seems to regret mentioning her name. and pulls her hoody back up. "I wanted some fresh air and room to think. Kimura-san." She puts a little, slight emphasis on the use of Shinobu's surname. Just enough to make it stand out. "And, I go to Verone Academy's School of Music. Infinity is a good school, too."
Shinobu Kimura smiles, "Oh cool! I couldn't go to Verone. It's just way too expensive. I got into Infinity on a scholarship. My teachers think I am really good at public speaking so, there is that right?" She smiles softly. On the upside, she isn't treating the the famous girl any different then she would anyone else. "It is a nice day out. I think it's going to snow soon though. That is one of my favorite things. I umm... Well I was blind for the past five years. I only recently got my sight back. I guess, I just never want to take things for granted again."
And on the flipside, it seems Tsubasa isn't bothering to pretend to be more social than she is. She mostly lets Shinobu talk, and only seems to half listen, it's only at the last bit that she seems interested. "Congratulations. I can't imagine what it must be like to be blind."
Shinobu Kimura smiles, "Yeah, I am pretty happy about it myself. I just wish it didn't have such a high cost. Still, its a good thing. So have you been getting plenty of rest? I heard you cancelled a lot of shows. I know its none of my business though. I'm wanting to get into radio and stuff. Thats how I heard."
Tsubasa seems to be given cause to think at the mention of high cost, though it doesn't elicit a spoken response. "I've had enough rest and am looking forward to sunday's show, thank you for asking." This is a practiced response, she doesn't even bother hiding that it is. It's a bit more cheerful and smiles than everything else she's said so far. "Radio, huh?"
Shinobu Kimura nods, "yes, I really enjoy speaking and I have a talent for getting people's attention. Though I don't know if I will ever be famous or anything. I've been worried about making plans beyond next week." She goes silent. Her breathing becomes heavier and its clear that she is afraid of something.
Again, it seems like Tsubasa notices that, but doesn't ask, doesn't pry, doesn't even really acknowledge it. "If you enjoy speaking and have a talent for getting people's attention, radio might be right for you." She focuses on the topic that doesn't raise questions she doesn't want to ask.
Shinobu Kimura nods, "Tomorrow I am going to be going on the radio for the first time. I have to broadcast a warning to people. There is something big coming. A umm..." She pauses. Quickly she gets her story straight, "... A natural disaster. Its going to be big. I wanna alarm people about this because this whole city is going to be in danger."
"A natural disaster?" Tsubasa now raises an eyebrow, and there's just a hint that she doesn't quite buy this story completely. "Tell me more?" She asks, there's a certain terse curiousity, and her eyes narrow to have a certain degree of intensiveness.
Shinobu Kimura frowns, "I wish I could. I don't know what form the disaster will take but I know it will be big. Strong enough to take down buildings and put lives clear across the city in danger. This is a worst case scenario." She states and there is intensity in her voice that is definitely warning.
"Don't expect people to take you seriously if you can't tell them what's coming." Tsubasa warns, clearly not being one of the people who doesn't take this warning seriously. She then adds, quietly. "Would be easier if they did." Then she turns around and slowly but surely starts to walk away.
Shinobu Kimura frowns a little. "I gotta try. Too many lives depend on it. I wish I had more information but my source was very careful about what she told me. That person has been through a lot and is not one who can be much more clear about what is coming."
"If your source is right, even some people taking you seriously will be better than none." Tsubasa admits as she keeps walking away, "So try, just don't be surprised if people don't listen." The idol raises a hand to wave goodbye, "It was nice meeting you, Kimura-san. I'll remember your warning."
Shinobu Kimura stands and bows politely, "It was a pleasure meeting you Kazanari-san. I will do all I can to warn people to get out of town. What is coming is simply too dangerous to not warn people." Her tone is dark, much darker then it would be for simple inclamate weather.
"I understand." Tsubasa sounds flat and serious. No joy, anger, fear or even really any doubt. There's no darkness either, but a clear reading 'I do not doubt that this could be serious.' She then adds, equally flatly, equally serious. "Good luck." She picks up her pace.
Shinobu Kimura sighs, "Dammit, This is so much easier when suited up." She states as she stands up and grabs her bo. Time for her to get back to her dorm anyway. She quietly trudges her way through the park towards Infinity U.
