It is impossible to tell what time of day it is without a clock. The sky is dark. Rain pours down, pounding on windows and the roof. The massive Seiyou public school has been repurposed into one of many evacuation shelters. In light of the Thousands of people eho are currently taking up residence here, Seiyou's own Hero Club was called in to help people out.
Fu Inubouzaki, the president of the Hero club, knew this was going to be a bit over their heads so she put word out for would be heros to come and help people out! Currently though she is sitting by a window, just watching the horrid weather. "Its weird. This doesn't feel natural but why wouldn't the Taisha..." She stops right there, not wanting to really be heard. Standing she looks towards those helping out. "Alright, I think we got enough blankets and pillows. What else is needed?"
Hoshi is not part of any hero club, but this is a serious deal. She's been told about Walpurgisnacht, but... doesn't feel remotely ready to handle anything like that straight on. Keeping people from being out in the open, and supporting shelters, though... that she can do.
And so the ten year old girl has come, bringing tea to people who are coming in. "We're running out of fresh tea..." She tells the older blonde, and a bright yellow five pointed star just shows up and stands on the girl's shoulder, drinking from a cup of tea it holds with one of its points. She glances at it, but tries not to pay too much attention to it, not expecting anyone else to see it.
Hinote Kagari brushes the arms of his coat as he comes in from the rain and fixes his tie. Yup. He's come to help because Runealy's made a few rare orders. It is VERY rare the Princess says to her knights 'Do this thing it's an order'. Regardless, Hinote is happy to obey and thusly, here he is. He's brought boxes of some comfort food-- kind that doesn't need cooking or preparation-- two big boxes in fact and puts it down with the rest of the supplies. He brushes his hands off.
He looks to Fu. "I got some food. There's more so lemme run back out quick here in a moment." he says.
He steps away. He walks back out. He comes back in with a stack of canned drinks.
He continues this for a bit.
"Yeah, well. Better make more while it's good to. Power's probably gonna go out any moment."
With the storm warnings becoming more intense, and the warnings from the magical side of things popping up on her phone more and more, Mimori Togo decided she would have to be prepared.
And that is why there's a middle school girl in a wheelchair going up and down the rows of the shelter, handing out botamochi, youkan, and various other types of wagashi. Basic food and shelter is one thing, but there's only one cure for being stuck in a place where it's scary and even the adults are uncertain about what's going to happen: sweets! By the boxes she occasionally returns to in order to refill her tray, she probably spent some time making quite a lot the past few days.
"Oh awesome, Thank you, Mister. There is a room set up for foods... You can set them in there." Fu cheerfully comments. Its an act, thats for sure. She is about as terrified as anyone else but, at least she can hide it.
She gets up and moves over to peek into the area where people are setting up their temporary homes. "We are going to need to do something. There are so many people panicking in there. Give me one second." She pulls out her smart phone and sends a message: -Togo, Meet me in the control room. We are trying to figure out how to bring up the spirits of these people.-
She looks to Hinote, "This place has good generators that will kick on. We'd be in a lot of trouble if we didn't have those. We couldn't really have a shelter here without them!"
Her attention goes to Hoshi. "We have plenty more, it just needs made up. I will send word to the cafeteria to get it going." Its then she notices the much younger girl's actions. Quietly she moves closer to her. "You see it too, Huh?" She looks out the window, more then a little worried.
Hinote Kagari doesn't really seems /too/ bothered or scared. Is it worrying? Yes. But once you face 'Bajillion Demon Apocalyse' threating murder rainstorm doesn't seem too bad. He doesn't really know the extent of it beyond that. Besides. If something creepy comes off out here- he needs to be ready to help.
He looks back toward's Hoshi and opens his mouth a moment, before, closing it. He narrows his eye at the clearly animated weird star and just shakes his head. You know what. He isn't going to ask at all about this one.
Instead, he nods a bit to Fu.
He eventually has to stop bringing things in from the rain because there's nothing left for him to do so.
"Alright. I'm Hinote Kagari. What do you guys need help with. I'm here. I'm ready to help!" he beams.
Hoshi looks in the direction of Walpurgisnacht. "Yeah." She sounds concerned, and even a little scared, but then smiles. "I'm sure everything will be fine." She sounds like she's been told this. Hinote introduces himself, and the elementary school girl bows to him. "I'm Hoshi Kogane."
Two more stars pop out, one with a big fat moustache and the other wearing a night cap, they float in the air next to Hoshi and seem to be there more for her benefit than anything else, smiling wide and all. They don't seem to think they're being seen. Hoshi asks, "Shall I go fetch some more cups for when the tea is ready?
Although she can hear the rain, Togo very carefully does not look out the window very often. She would be very, very happy not seeing whatever it is that's out there right now. She pauses in passing out sweets to dig her phone out, then taps a quick reply that she's on the way.
As she approaches, Togo gives both Hinote and Hoshi a smile. "Are you two here to help us as well?" She pauses for a moment and peers at the stars on the girl's shoulders. "It seems we have quite a few helpers tonight." Turning slightly, she glances up at the blonde. "Fu-senpai, I've been passing out sweets. If your sister were here, she could help lead a song... in fact, I'm sure that's what she's doing right now at the other shelter." Togo could lead a singalong as well, though putting the idea in her head might be a bad idea. She'd probably just make everyone sing Japan's national anthem.
Fu Inubouzaki smiles and nods to Hinote, "Hello, I'm Fu Inubouzaki. I'm sorta trying to keep things in order here. Though its really hard to think about." She smiles and extends a hand to shake.
As Togo enters, Fu slips over and helps herself to one of the yummy treats she was giving out. "Mmm! Togo you are such an amazing cook!" She states with her mouth full." Then the idea of having a sing along is mentioned, "Oh! Thats a good idea! Hinote, would you like to lead some songs?"
Then her attention goes to Hoshi. She reaches out and gently hugs her. "I have faith that we will be alright. The Shinju-sama wouldn't leave us to be beat up by whatever that is. Right?" She smiles brightly and is at least trying to be reassuring.
Hinote Kagari looks at Fu and blinks. "Sing?... me?" he asks. "Uh... okay but---- um....." he nods politely at Mimori's words as he looks back to Fu incrediously.
"I only know... one particular style of singing...."
He clears his throat, and brushes his suit off a bit. "S'dad taught me this so--- here it goes...."
Hinote breaks out into itallian opera. His voice is a baritone. He's singing in italian.
Yeah this probably isn't what Fu wants. He's at least---good at it?
Yeah.
"Maybe in Japanese?" Hoshi suggests cheerfully, she sounds a little amused by Hinote's choice of singing, clearing away some of the earlier fears. Even so, it doesn't entirely get rid of them, and who'd blame her? She's ten, and she's only just starting to realize what she's gotten herself into when she accepted that crystal.
And Fu says something that sounds weird to her, while hugging. She returns the hugging gesture, and asks softly, "What is the Shinju-sama? What does it have to do with..." And then she goes quiet, remembering she's not supposed to be talking about magic stuff. The blond kid lets go off Fu and says quickly, "I'll go see if they have more tea I can go hand out ready."
As one of the sweets is snatched by the Hero Club president, Togo waggles a finger at her. "Only one for now, Fu-senpai! These have to last all night for everyone here." Her expression is sterm, but just for a moment before giving the older girl a smile. "Oh, before you go!" Togo reaches out toward Hoshi and gestures to the platter she's holding. "You go ahead and take one too." If Fu gets one, then everyone should!
Togo turns to make the same offer to Hinote, but then he starts singing. It -is- nice, but she wrinkles her nose slightly. "That isn't going to keep people calm. Nobody can sing along to that." Still, she offers Hinote a sweet as well... and if Hoshi is still nearby, gives the girl a pat on the head for her taste in music. "She's right. We need something that everybody knows so they can sing along and forget their fears!"
Fu Inubouzaki thinks for a few moments. "I know! Why don't we sing your song, Togo? You can lead it and we can all follow along. Then we can open up the floor to anyone else who wants to lead a song or two. If we can get the people into this we might be able to turn this not so good situation into a small party!" She giggles a little.
When Hinote starts singing her eyes go wide. "Woah. Umm You could sing that to entertain but I don't think it would work to lead. I'm pretty sure most people don't speak Italian. You could make sure everyone has bed supplies though. That needs done.
Finally her attention goes to Hoshi and her question. "The Shinju-sama is a god. He is the holy tree which protects this world from evil. My parents taught me about him when I was little before they passed on." She smiles, "Cute stars by the way." She doesn't push anything and lets Hoshi go check on the tea.
Hinote Kagari stops singing. "I know itallian opera. I was asked to sing. I obliged." he offers with a short smile. "I actually don't know many traditional songs." he admits. His dad is a man of the world, Hinote is a boy of the world, that's how it goes.
He shrugs and chuckles a bit. He doesn't seem offended, as he goes to make sure supplies and comfort food is passed around as he clicks his tounge.
Ah- so he isn't the only one that can see the stars. Okay good, so the storm isn't doing weird things to him.
"Oh." It's all Hoshi can say to Fu, but the star with the sleeping cap decides Fu's hair would make for a lovely bed. It's easily swatted aside Fu wants to, but it tries to nestle there and nap. She comes back with tea soon after, setting up trays full of glasses that people can come by to pick up, or she can go around and hand out later.
"So you can see the Walpurgisnacht too?" Hoshi points at the giant witch in the distance, at this point there's probably plenty flashy magical girl lights, too; attacking the creature. "A friend told me about it. It's making this storm."
Togo looks thoughtful for a moment, tapping a finger against her cheek. "I suppose I can think of a song everyone might know." She looks up at the stars as they flit around, then glances toward the window... and shivers slightly when she sees the lights. "It may be making this storm, but we're inside here. And our job is to make sure people stay safe and aren't scared!"
She lets out a soft sigh. "I know some very nice enka songs, but most of the children won't be familiar. ...oh!" Turning toward the others and reaching a hand toward Hoshi, Togo smiles brightly. "Do you know Tsubasa wo Kudasai? I'm sure a lot of the children and their parents will be able to sing along with that."
Fu Inubouzaki smiles, "Its alright! Everything is going to work out!" She states to Hinote as she tries to snag another one of those yummy treats. "I think we can help people feel better with the singing thing."
Then a name is given to the thing outside. She'd not heard anything about this. Why would she? She's not activated yet but she does have the potential to be. Then there is suddenly a star moving up to sleep in her hair. "KAWAIIIIII!!!!!" She gushes and lets the cute star sleep there for now. So a Waldoishot?" She asks in reference to the name. "It looks like we have some friends out there dealing with it. So hopefully they will win and we will all be happy!"
She smiles to Togo and nods, "Lets do it."
Fu walks out into the gymnasium which has been turned into the central place for the people who are escaping the foul weather. She quickly moves up to the microphone and takes a deep breath. No room for stage freight. "Hello Everyone, In light of the horrible weather outside we are going to try to make things as pleasant and fun inside. So everyone I want you to just take a deep breath. Breath it in... and then say Everything will be okay! We are going to have a little sing along. My good friend and member of our very own Hero Club, Mimori Togo-san is going to lead us in a song. Then I am going to open it up for who ever wants to lead a song!"
Hinote Kagari hands out supplies and heads a 'Kawaaiiii?' Oh! She has a star sleeping in there now. huh.
He actually wonders about the stars now. But he keeps handing out supplies. He's all smiles, encouragement and other such things. When he's done doing what he can, he walks back towards the group and motions to Hoshi a moment.
"So what's with your starpals." he asks politely.
"Eheheh. People aren't supposed to see them." Hoshi sounds a little nervous about that bit, at least it distracts her from the Witch. "I'm not supposed to explain, I think. I'd have to ask." She sounds apologetic, "I'm new to this, sorry." Aside from the one star napping in Fu's hair, Hoshi's starpals dissappear.
"I like Tsubasa wo Kudasai." She answers Togo quickly, and holds the hand of the girl in the wheelchair. "Togo-san, right?" She asks, echoing a name she's heard others use to refer to the older girl. "Let's cheer people up."
Togo giggles softly at her upperclassman's reaction to the star. "It looks good on you, Fu-senpai." She blinks once, though. "Walpurgisnacht, she said. B..but you're right. We can let the others deal with that." Deep breath. She's in here, that thing is out there. There's no reason to be nervous!
To Hinote, she gestures toward the stack of boxes left by the wall. "The sweets I made are in there. Can you help pass some more out while I sing?" When Hoshi offers her hand, Togo gives it a squeeze. "Right! And you are Hoshi-chan? I'm going to need your help, I think!"
As she's introduced, Togo lifts a hand to wave, then takes the microphone. "This is a song that I'm sure a lot of you know, so I hope you'll all join me!" She holds the microphone so both she and Hoshi can use it, then begins to sing a slow, but cheerful version of the song. While she's no professional, her voice is quite good, a bit deeper than her usual speaking voice.
It ends all too soon, but once she's finished, Togo scans over the people who sang along with her. "If anyone else has a song to share, then I won't hog the microphone!"
Fu smiles and sings along with Togo. She watches the crowd and of course Hinote giving out those sweets. Not so much for Hinote but for the sweets.
A young man gets up and comes up to take the mic. "Lets sing Billy Jean!" The young man starts singing Michael Jackson's Billy Jean. On top of his the kid has some moves! He starts dancing around like the late king of Pop.
Fu watches this kid go and she just laughs. Quietly she moves over to Togo and snickers, "Good job! You did Wonderful!"She looks at Hoshi and smiles, "You did well too! This is working out."
Hinote Kagari yawns a little as he finishes his job and walks over. "Seems everything is going smoothly..." he peeks out into the storm, as he peeks open a window. "This is getting kinda serious. I hope it lets up soon..." he mutters. He thinks a little of his friends out there--- The Princess. Shinobu. He frowns. He desperatly wants to be out there- but the Princess commanded it.
He looks back to the others as she takes a deep breath as he crosses his arms.
"Not supposed to talk about it?" he asks lighlty at Hoshi. "Alright." he nods curtly. He ends his questioning there it seems. "They are kinda cute though." he admits finally.
"Yes. I'm Hoshi." Hoshi confirms quite readily, no longer looking at the window, instead focusin on the equally important task of keeping the people here cheerful and safe. She along, her singing isn't the best but she tries and it's pretty much in tune. "Thanks, I tried. So what school do you guys go to? Or are you so old you don't go to school anymore." To a ten year old, the difference between fourteen or fifteen and twenty can be hard to tell. They're all big and grownup looking.
When the person who steps up after her begins singing and dancing to that song, Togo instantly regrets making this open mic. But if it helps the people in the shelter relax, she can put up with it.
"You did wonderfully, Hoshi-chan! I saw a lot of people singing along, and I think you joining me helped encourage them." Singing well in this situation isn't as important as just.. singing, after all! "Oh, I'm in eighth grade. I go to Seiyou with Fu-senpai." Togo nods toward the blonde. "Kagari-san seems familiar. I've probably seen you at school or when the Hero Club helped out one of the other organizations!"
Turning back to Hoshi, she gives the girl a smile. "What about you? What grade are you in?"
Fu Inubouzaki smiles to both Hoshi and Togo. "Thank you both. This is going very well. I hope the storm lets up soon though. It is really a freak thing." She quietly slips off for a moment. Getting out her phone she quickly sends a message to the Taisha. -If this threat is so big that it is causing this level of disaster, why weren't we notified of it?-
A moment or two later, her phone goes off. -This threat, while serious, is not for the heroes to worry about. You will be notified when you are needed.- Sometimes it would be much easier to talk to someeone then an unknown person on the phone. With that she returns to the group.
"So I've been thinking, maybe we should open the Hero Club up to others who want to join. We could do a lot of good with more people. Don't you think Togo?"
Hinote Kagari laughs a bit as he smiles. "I'm in 8th Grade, you know." he says. "That isn't too far off from whatever grade you're in." he says. Hinote tends not to speak to younger girls like they're... younger. His mom and dad spoke to him like an adult all his life, he can talk to kids like they're adults.
"Hero Club?" he asks curiously.
He head tilts. "Oh, I go here. I used to go to Seishou, but I attend here now. I'm still waiting on the proper uniform though." he says softly.
"I go to Seishou, fourth grade." Hoshi answers right when she's asked, then counting on her fingers to try to figure out how old these other kids are. "So you are fourteen or fifteen, right? Because I'm ten." Then, she echoes Hinote's question. "A hero club? Oh wait, you go to Seiyou I couldn't join anyway."
"Hmm... I'm not so sure, Fu-senpai. Would you be able to handle more people?" Togo gives the blonde a teasing smile. "How many others besides us would be able to handle you?"
Hinote gets a nod. "The Hero Club is a lot of fun! Ah, but I should let Fu-senpai explain it. I don't want to take her job!" Togo gives Hoshi a nod and a smile. "That's right, I'm fourteen. So not that much older than you are."
"The Seiyou Public School Hero Club is a club design to help others, Assist with needs and in general be a hero to our communities. A person does not need super powers to be a hero just a big heart. We have 5 tennets which we strive to live by. These are: Give a good greeting, Try not to give up, Sleep Well, Eat Well, If you're troubled, Talk to someone, and You're likely to succeed if you try."
She then looks to Togo, "Hey! I am a gem to work with! Completely sweet and only bent on world domination every once in a while!" She then lets out an evil cackle. "The Shadow King requires UDON! UDON FOR THE HEROES! THAT WILL LUL THEM INTO A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY!!!" She prattles on for a moment but then just laughs it off.
Turning her attention to Hoshi she gives a smile, "Well you could always make a Hero Club! The more the merrier right?"
Hinote Kagari listens to Fu's bit. "You need to bring it up from deep inside when you do an evil voice like...."
"The Shadow King requires UDON! UDON FOR THE HEROES! THAT WILL LUL THEM INTO A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY!!!"
His voice is chilling, authentic and deep. "See?" he beams after. "I'm in Drama Club. Mainly taught by my dad who's used to the acting gig." he chuckles.
He winks. "Anyways, this Hero Club sounds pretty neat, If you take outside members, let the school know. I'll be sure to check it out then." he smiles.
"Is there a reason it's so 'closed up' at the moment?" he asks at the moment.
Hoshi watches Hinote go all dramatic, and stifles an attempt to giggle. No, instead she stands up and points at him dramatically. "You cannot bribe us shadow king! We will win, and free the people, for love and justice!" And only then does she devolve into giggles, apparently unable to keep it up for long. When she's done giggling she answers Fu, "I'm already in a club."
The look Togo gives as Fu launches into her Shadow King routine implies that this isn't the first time she's been explosed to the dark monarch. She does seem quite amused, though. "Will the Heroes be weakened by their beloved udon? That's a risk the Shadow King is taking!" Togo giggles softly... but then peers at Hinote. "Oh dear, you'll encourage her like that." There's still more giggling, though, especially as Hoshi gets in on it also.
"Yuna-chan usually does the hero role whenever we do plays. Fu-senpai is the villain, and I usually do narration."
Suddenly, Everything begins clearing up outside. All that is left is the soft light rain.
Fu smiles and nods. "I will keep everyone in the know. I think it would be nice if we could do more for the community. Oh I was being honest though, I will treat us all for udon once this is done. I could totally go for a bowl or two." She smirks.
Then to Togo she laughs, "You say that like me being encouraged by This fine gentleman is a bad thing!"
"Looks it went okay." Hoshi sounds extremely relieved, "I'll need to call dad to make sure he's okay, too. I hope to see you guys again!" She starts running off to the side, somewhere, and pulls out her iPhone so she can make the call she mentioned making.
Hinote Kagari peeks out. "Huh you're right it's letting up! Yeah same here guys I need to make some calls. Be well." he says as he's suddenly out the door...
Please be alright guys... he thinks.
