It's a lazy Saturday morning in spring. School is out and for once there are no pressing concerns. Madoka spent the night at Homura's house and is wearing her cozy yellow pajamas, her hair undone and fluffing out on her pillow behind her as she lays on her side, arms instinctively wrapped around Homura as she sleeps, body curled slightly and hugging a bit with her knees as well. Even when alone a stuffed animal would occupy that place, but with her girlfriend so close to her Madoka's sleeping face has a tiny, almost imperceptible smile to it.
Every now and then she shifts and squirms, but whenever her movements would break her away from Homura she slides back closer and hugs on tighter; teddy bears can easily be brought along for a roll, but Madoka isn't near strong enough in her sleep to drag Homura around like that! Her sleep has been quiet and restful, able to relax and feel completely comfortable and safe like this.
Last night they had decided to try one of the east facing bedrooms, and so as the sun rises it filters through thin curtains and falls upon the girls as they sleep. The light causes more stirrings from Madoka, and her shifting slowly becomes more common. After a time she finds herself in one of those blissful states between wakefulness and sleep, choosing simply to lay still and enjoy the closeness and warmth of her girlfriend. She breathes slowly and softly, dimly aware of her surroundings except that being here under the covers with Homura is wonderful. The only thing that might give away the fact that she's lazily napping rather than fully asleep are a few tiny nuzzles of her head and cheek she makes against Homura as she lays there with her.
Homura slept peacefully, wearing white pajamas with purple frills.
She slept well a lot lately, but it wasn't always so. She spent years living in terror and pain, and sleep was a fickle companion at best, but these days? These days sleep was sweet, especially when it was next to Madoka.
Homura didn't mind Madoka's occasionally shifting around next to her, especially if she was close to Homura. It rarely disturbed her enough to drag her out of sleep, but even when it did she'd wake up to the pleasant sensation of her girlfriend close to her, touching her, sharing her warmth and kindness.
Homura would occasionally shift around too, wrapping an arm around Madoka and holding her close. Sometimes she'd rest her head on Madoka's shoulders, and sometimes she'd nuzzle closer. If Madoka had tried to drag her over with a roll, Homura might've ended up going part way, ending up on halfway top of her girlfriend. Sometimes, at least. Other times she'd be very difficult to budge, asleep as she is.
When Homura does wake up, her purple eyes flutter awake, and the first thing she sees is the sight of her beloved sleeping next to her.
No matter how many times it happens, her heart still skips a beat when she sees it.
At first, Homura is still, not wanting to wake Madoka up. Cautiously, her arms wrap around Madoka, but after a while of watching and being nuzzled, Homura starts to suspect that her darling little angel isn't quite as asleep as she appears.
Teasingly, and perhaps mischievously, Homura grabs a lock of her own hair, the same hair that Madoka likes so much, and brushes the ends of it against Madoka's cheek, moving down to her jaw and then her chin. She wears a tiny little smirk as she does this.
Sleep isn't always an ally. Sometimes it is nothing more than a biological necessity, and at the worst of times it can bring it's own terrors, fears brought up out of the recesses of one's own mind. When it can be enjoyed like this it is a thing to be treasured.
Madoka seems to be doing her best to make the most of it. Homura's shifting around doesn't disturb Madoka's rest either, and if she's held closer she'll curl up into her a bit more, and if Homura ended up half over her Madoka would flop over onto her back and let her hands rest against her girlfriends back.
Madoka can't see Homura's eyes opening, her own staying closed as sun filters in on them through the window. Arms wrap around her and the little nuzzles are given, the pink-haired girl enjoying the extra closeness. Her expression is indeed angelic, the tiny smile giving sweetness to her otherwise placid expression; she's may not be fully asleep but she's asleep enough to be almost completely relaxed.
A lock of silky black hair teases against Madoka's cheek, and after a moment her head turns a little. As it trails down her jaw to her chin her eyebrows draw faintly together, and then as her chin is tickled her entire body gives a few twitches before she lets out a sharp but quiet giggle. "That tickles..." she complains lazily, shifting closer to Homura and wrapping her arms more tightly around her now that she's been drawn further into consciousness.
While the half-asleep state was blissful and comfortable Madoka can more fully appreciate the enjoyment of being here in bed with her love. One of the hands resting against Homura's back reaches up to stroke against that hair that was used to tease her as pink eyes slowly open and look sleepily into beautiful purple.
Her lips curl into a smile, a mischievous one, and she slowly but deliberately opens her mouth and bites the ends of the hair that tickled her chin with her lips.
Homura can't help but giggle along with her girlfriend as Madoka complains. "Sorry~..." Homura apologizes in a sing-song voice, though not really all that sorry.
Watching Madoka wake up is a special and endearing moment. Homura's purple eyes watch as those pink eyes open, and she can't help but move forward just enough to kiss Madoka on the tip of her nose.
Homura shifts to move even closer to Madoka, wrapping her free arm around and under her, while the other hand continues to hold black hair and softly tickle and tease the pink-haired girl. Homura raises an eyebrow as she sees the mischief in her girlfriend's eyes, only to let out a soft, joking gasp of surprise as Madoka bites down on her hair. Homura wasn't sure what she was expecting, but it wasn't that.
Homura giggles even more, hand releasing the bitten hair and wrapping around Madoka, holding her close into a nice warm hug. Pressing her cheek against her beloved's, she whispers, "How does my hair taste?"
Homura may be mostly awake, but not completely, because for a moment when she's this close to Madoka, she starts to drift back into a nap-like state. Her sweetheart is so soft and warm, and it's hard not to feel relaxed when she's this close. Even at this point, Homura's still pretty sure that she could do this forever.
"My favorite Madoka-chan." Her voice is a soft whisper, wistful and with an undercurrent of relaxation. There's no place she'd rather be right now.
Madoka makes a soft, childish noise as the apology is singsonged to her, though she seems mollified once her nose is given the little kiss. With Homura's face so close her eyes take up most of Madoka's vision, and her eyes are nearly crossed to look into them, sleepily unfocused as they are.
The first full thought Madoka has after the enjoyment of this closeness is how much she loves the girl she's next to, and her arms tighten around Homura and squeeze her close, snuggling her body warmly into Homura.
"Stringy," she mutters quietly with the hair in her mouth, only to turn her head and move her lips to release it, making sure to keep her cheek pressed sweetly to her girlfriend's. "If it was as tasty as it is pretty I'd have to keep nibbling on it," Madoka adds after a moment, petting more of Homura's hair as she nestles up against her girlfriend, cuddling close and hugging her arms around her so that her slightly smaller body is conforms to and rests against Homura's in just the right way for maximum snuggliness and comfort, a position found only after so much time spent in each other's arms.
As Homura relaxes more Madoka eases up her hug into a gentler hold. She makes a yawn and then lets it out as a slow, happy sigh, peeking her eyes back open when she hears the whisper. "My best and only Homura-chan." She shifts slightly, pulling away just enough to slide her cheek past Homura's so that her lips can gently press to those of her girlfriend, puckering only after the contact and given with an enjoyable, "Mmm..."
Homura can't help but chuckle at the description of her hair's taste. "Why am I not surprised?" Held this close, Madoka can probably feel the rhythmic shaking of Homura's body as she laughs. She coos warmly as her beloved calls her hair pretty. "If that was the case, I'd have to go to you the next time I needed a haircut."
Her eyes flutter closed as her darling pets her hair, and Homura's back arches, pushing her stomach into Madoka's. She allows Madoka to shift to her favored position, holding her close and feeling her closeness. No matter how much she might get used to it, she doubts she'll ever get tired of it.
Just as she's thinking of how wonderful moments like these are, and how lucky Homura is to be able to share them with Madoka, her girlfriend kisses her on the lips. Homura's eyes half-open in response, only to close again and press against Madoka's. She holds it, happily sharing the intimate moment with the one person she'd give up everything for.
She rests in Madoka's arms, holding her in turn, for a bit longer before she speaks again. "So... what would you like to do today? We've got plenty of time."
For once in Homura's life, that's actually true.
"Though I have no objection to staying in your arms forever, my sweet little angel."
The more Homura thinks about how much she loves the girl shey's lying next to, the more her fingers softly tighten against Madoka's sides, grasping her and holding her close.
Homura's voice takes on a soft and pleasant tone as she starts listing Madoka's qualities. "... my beloved, sweet, adorable, kind-hearted, wonderful, beautiful and irresistible little angel."
Madoka smiles a little as Homura laughs, and lets out a soft giggle of her own. She tries to imagine nibbling Homura's hair to give her a haircut, "It might end up with a textured look even if I tried to keep it even," she notes.
As Homura presses into her Madoka presses back, wrapping her knees around one of Homura's legs and brushing the tips of her toes against the top of Homura's feet, a couple of degrees cooler than the rest of her. Madoka couldn't imagine not wanting to be close like this. There may be things that become more pressing, but in her girlfriends arms is exactly where she wants to be.
The given kiss is enjoyed, Madoka's lips soft as they press into Homura's, the kiss lingering as Homura allows and holds it, one of her hands sliding down and caressing the small of Homura's back in a show of affection. When the kiss breaks she takes in a breath to let out a happy sigh, her eyes half opening and looking adoringly at the other girl's face.
"Spend it with you," she replies immediately to the question without thinking, only to add a moment later. "Maybe... dancing? Dancing with you is very fun." She gives a stretch, only to let her arms rest limply against Homura, "But I think I want to stay here a while longer." Then with a small smile her head tilts down and she peeks up at Homura through her eyelashes, "Maybe forever..."
The grip on her is tightened and Madoka makes a soft, happy noise as she's held close, giving Homura a sweet look at the same time to show her approval and enjoyment. She'll only encourage things like that.
Madoka's cheeks warm as the sweet compliments are spoken aloud, only to giggle softly at 'irresistable'. "I love being Homura-chan's little angel~," she replies in a sweet voice of her own.
She shifts a bit closer so she can whisper into Homura's ear, "Your little angel." The hand stroking Homura's hair cradles the back of her head soothingly for a moment and she says softly, "My sweet, loving, beautiful, dashing, dependable and devoted Homura-chan."
Homura smiles at the mention of a 'textured look'. "Well that'd be a new style. I wonder how that'd look with the split in the back of my hair." She pauses for a moment. "Hm. Or maybe it doesn't hold that shape anymore? It's hard for me to tell." A hand reaches up behind her head to run through her hair a few times, before returning to its place around Madoka's back.
Homura shivers slightly at the cold of Madoka's toes, but she doesn't shy away. Instead, she wraps the arches of her feet around her girlfriend's toes, trying to warm them up a little through proximity. Her leg brushes against Madoka's, and Homura ends up pinching one of her darling's legs between her own.
Nothing makes the gun-toting puella feel more confident than hearing her beloved's happy sigh, and she gets giddy when Madoka responds to her question. "Good answer!" Homura'd love to spend the whole day with Madoka. Why wouldn't she? That'd be amazing. With the mention of dancing, Homura smiles wider, nodding. Sounds good. Sounds good.
'Maybe forever...'
Homura blushes immediately. Madoka still has it in her to make Homura blush sometimes.
Homura stutters out, "I-I-I'd like that..." Aside from some practicality issues, Homura actually wouldn't object at all if Madoka just moved in one day. For a moment, she's lost in the fantasy of that, eyes glazing over, only to be pulled back into the sweet reality of still being in bed with Madoka. Her girlfriend returns her rush of compliments, and Homura is just meekly blushing the whole time.
For a moment, Homura is very glad that she doesn't still have heart problems, because her heart is racing furiously.
The purple-eyed puella clears her throat a couple times, before mentioning, "Um... did I mention this before? I set up a karaoke machine in the dance room a while back. I figured... that'd be a good place for it. I think it's still plugged in from when I sent you that video."
After a pause, she adds, "... but I mean... staying here with you is fine. Holding you close... this is nice too. I'll always enjoy doing this with you."
Madoka makes a quiet, "Ahhh, but if it's parted it'd be so hard to get both sides even," playing as if it was something she was actually considering doing rather than merely teasing.
When Homura shivers Madoka's hands brush over her a bit more firmly, back and forth to warm her up. Of course the reason for the shiver was her own cold toes, which soon find themselves covered by Homura's warmer feet. She giggles softly and blushes more, so cared for by Homura that even her cold toes are going to be tended to.
Madoka puts on a bright smile when Homura reacts to her answer with such enthusiasm, feeling a few butterflies in her stomach. They've spent a lot of time together, and most of days... but never quiet an entire day from start to finish. That Homura likes the idea as much as she does fills her with happiness.
And then that sudden change to meekness as Homura blushes. "I'd like it too." She looks away for a moment shyly, only to return her gaze to her beloved's eyes. "I will, some day. Spend forever in your arms, one way or another."
It would be hard for Madoka to move in with Homura. Not because she wouldn't enjoy living with her and spending every night snuggling with her, but because she loves her family so much. She likes helping wake her mother up, playing with her naughty little brother, spending time with her dad and everything involved in living at home with her parents. Nevermind the amazing meals from her father! It would be a lie to say she didn't contemplate various ways of trying to get Homura to move in with -her- after her apartment had been destroyed. If she had brought her home like a lost puppy, a girl with a heart condition and no family in town and now without a roof over her head she almost thinks she could have convinced her parents.
Except that would have meant asking her parents to let her girlfriend live with them and that... probably would not have worked out. So she didn't try- even if she was sorely tempted.
For now Madoka isn't quite ready to leave her family's home, but every bird must some day leave the nest. If spending time with Homura continues to be so wonderful that day may come more quickly than she ever might have thought.
Homura is shy and stuttering, and Madoka can feel her heart racing in her chest. Her cheeks blush even more when she feels that excitement, and she can't help but let out an, "Aww..." She looks over Homura's face and then into her eyes again, taking on a slightly more maternal demeanor, smoothing Homura's hair and adding, "Adorable and innocent Homura-chan," to the list in a cooing tone.
She smiles softly at the mention of the karaoke machine and nods, "I'm excited to try it out. I want to dance with you and sing to you. But holding you in my arms is so nice as well." With a soft giggle she asks, "Have we ever been able to have a lazy morning together like this?"
Homura giggles, even as Madoka's statement throws her slightly off balance. "Well you could always keep trying until you got it right, Madoka-chan. There's a lot of hair back there." She assumes that Madoka is kidding, but even so the way she says it makes it sound like she's really serious.
Her girlfriend's touch does warm her up, and Homura nuzzles closer, even as she continues to warm up her darling's toes. When she feels the warmth of Madoka's blushing, she nuzzles even closer.
Of course Homura would like the idea of spending an entire day with Madoka. Sure, she's stalked her for day at a time... but that really isn't the same as spending time with her. Most of the time, her attention wasn't even on Madoka so much as it was on something that might threaten her, and the pink angel was usually left unaware of such intrusions anyways.
Madoka says that she will, someday, spend forever in Homura's arms. That sounds like a promise. Homura nods. "Yeah... someday." Obviously not now, because now is too soon. Too early in the relationship, and too early in their lives... but one day.
It would be different if Homura were somehow rescuing Madoka from a lonely, boring family... but that's hardly the case. Madoka has a lot going for her, and Homura wouldn't want to tear her away from that... then again, knowing Madoka, they might live in a place where Madoka could see her family often anyways. Homura somehow doubts that Madoka would ever truly leave her family behind, even if she moved out.
... and really... for Madoka's happiness, Homura would ensure that she wouldn't have to.
The thought of living in the Kaname household may have crossed Homura's mind, but she didn't want to impose. Especially considering her position in Madoka's life.
"We have time, for that and other things. There's no reason to rush."
Seeing her beloved act motherly makes Homura even more meek. 'Mature' Madoka really does it for her. 'Adorable and innocent'?! Well, for a certain definition of innocent, sure. "You're still the only one who can draw that out of me. Not that I mind. You make me so happy I almost get delirious sometimes."
Homura considers Madoka's last question. Has it ever been peaceful. Homura frowns slightly as she thinks back. "Well... I mean... Puella life is always stressful, but... well, I guess there's a first time for everything?" Her frown returns to a hopeful smile. "It's nice not having anything pressing down on us right now, though. I feel like we've been way overdue for a break.
Rather than continuing the serious sounding joking Madoka replies to Homura's last comment with a happy, "Yes, there is!" She runs her fingers through her girlfriends silky long hair, ending with a flick of her wrist that sends a lock flipping upwards before settling back down.
Then as Homura nuzzles closer Madoka rubs against her, snuggling on her and letting her cheek nuzzle softly against the other girl's, making a soft happy sound before squeezing warmly against her as her toes are warmed. Now might not be the right time to stay with Homura forever, but it's definitely the right time to enjoy being in her arms!
No reason to rush? That puts a soft smile on Madoka's face, "None at all. I'd rather enjoy every minute I have with you than worry about what to do next." She tilts her head into Homura's shoulder and leans it against her, "Even if things aren't perfect, they're good enough that I might forget it. I'm so happy, so why change anything?" Change is for when things seem bad, right? Their relationship seems as good as can be to Madoka right now.
When she gets the urge to giggle she instead smiles a bit more and lets out an amused, "Hmm." She reaches around to delicately brush Homura's bangs out of her face, letting her fingertips touch lightly against her forehead, "Even if nobody else sees it I know this side of you. This was the side of you that fell in love with me first." She leans forward, pressing a gentle kiss to Homura's now exposed forehead. "I love this part of you too, Homura-chan. Just like I love every other part of you."
If Homura likes her being more motherly and mature Madoka will respond, wrapping her arms lovingly around her and scooping the taller, slightly younger(but not really) girl closer to herself and cradling her there, swaying a little to make a rocking motion. "This time is for us to enjoy. These moments are what we fight so hard to protect, not just for ourselves but for others too."
Homura already knows that and that she feels that way, but Madoka felt that it should be said.
Homura's lock of hair is tossed back, floating in the air before it falls down behind her. She gently and lazily cuddles against Madoka, cooing softly as she's held tight.
"Yeah... better to enjoy the time we have now, right? These are wonderful times too, and there's no reason to rush past them." Things really aren't perfect, at least the way Homura sees it, but they were probably never going to be. Besides, just because they aren't perfect, that doesn't mean they aren't amazing. "After seeing how bad it could be, I'm grateful to have this much. I don't think I could ever ask for anything more."
Homura quietly lays still as Madoka talks about her... shier side. It's a more vulnerable side, and not one that she likes to show to strangers, but her little angel is no stranger. If anything, the fact that Madoka can even make her feel this way says a lot about how close they are, and how she makes the time-travelling Puella feel.
"I love every part of you, too. I'm glad you get to help others..." Even if she doesn't like the cost of it. "... and especially if it means we get to enjoy moments like these. I think it's good that we can find happiness in this life." It might not be clear whether 'we' refers to the two of them, or to the human condition in general, but in Homura's case she means both.
Her arms scrunch up closer, making herself smaller as Madoka cradles her close, allowing herself to be gently rocked. "We really do have a lot worth fighting for, don't we?"
Madoka giggles softly and nods her head, "Exactly! Why move past getting to spend so much time with the person I love?" The here and now is so good and they both seem to agree on that. It's a nice thing to be in agreement on. "You worked hard to make things as good as they are, and I'm grateful," Madoka notes about Homura's past and seeing exactly how bad the world could be. "I'm glad I'm able to make you so happy. It's wonderful that we can be so happy together."
Angels can be guardians and protectors, so is it any wonder that Homura's little angel could bring out this side of her? Madoka poses no possible threat to Homura and would feel awful if she did anything to hurt that vulnerable side. As Homura curls up and makes it easier for Madoka to hold her and rock her the pink-haired girl smiles sweetly to her. She wants to comfort and nurture this side of her girlfriend, the side that had to be buried away after so much pain, a girl who hurt so much after losing her best and closest friend.
"We do. There is a lot worth fighting for, and worth living for. We have our friends and families, innocent people who could get hurt without knowing what was really happening." Madoka's eyes half lid and she looks into Homura's with a gentle, loving, but very strong gaze, "Most of all, we have each other." Her eyes close the rest of the way after a moment, and she leans in to kiss Homura softly.
Homura smiles for a moment. She did work hard, she'll admit. She was desperate, and needed to succeed. While she was doing it, it was painful, and she wasn't sure if she could ever succeed. Now it was different. It was in the past, and she was looking back on it. She has a new but similar task now, in making sure her girlfriend stays alive for as long as possible, but at least things are less dire and less cruelly unfair. Really, though, the best part of all of that is that it's in the past.
"I didn't do it alone. All of us tried our best, even if it didn't always work out. Even if our best didn't always seem good enough. We've made it pretty far this time... and I think only the two of us even have a real concept of how special that is... but if you're the only one who understands, then I'm okay with that."
Homura certainly feels protected, especially right now. It's been a long time since Madoka has been in a position to do that, and to an extent Homura had come to fear this side of her beloved... not because of Madoka herself being scary, but because of what it implied about her future.
Now it's different. Homura's not afraid. She just feels warmth and bliss. If that means that a softer side of her is exposed to someone she trusts without question, well... that's not even a problem. She'd want Madoka to know who she was, after all.
"We do have each other, and what's the point of having this power if not to protect those we care about? That's all I've wanted to do. The only thing that's changed is that I can afford to worry about more people now."
Upon seeing the smile on her girlfriends face Madoka smiles back. She's glad Homura can look back and see something that succeeded, even if it was an incredibly long and difficult road. With so much harshness in the past it does make it easier to appreciate the current moment. That she can even give some portion of her success to those she fought beside is a testament to how far she'd come, that bitterness and resentment aren't the first conclusions she jumps to.
"Everyone did their best to help us once they found out," Madoka notes about Walpurgisnacht. "It was amazing to see everyone come together." Even the people who were their enemies were helping them in that moment. Then Homura mentions that only Madoka can really understand and she smiles again, "It still amazes me how much you were willing to go through to protect me." She giggles a little, lightening the mood and adding, "For every time one of us had to hurt or see the other hurt, I want to make us smile and see each other happy! If we can do that then maybe we can make this 'pretty far' only the beginning. That's what I want."
Her girlfriend is warm and blissful in her arms, her toes have been warmed up so that when she starts teasing them against Homura's ankles they don't chill her. It's about the best way to wake up she could possibly imagine. Breakfast in bed is the classic special morning, but she'd rather have a morning snuggle like this one.
"That's the same way I feel, Homura-chan," Madoka agrees happily. Not so sleepy anymore she squeezes the timetraveler before pulling away slightly. "I never would have thought being a Magical Girl came with the perk of having a beautiful girlfriend!" she says playfully, eyes sparkling as she looks at Homura, finding her beautiful even before she's done anything to pretty herself up.
"Hm, what do you think?" she asks with a tilt of her head, "Stay in bed and snuggle even longer, or get dressed and go dancing?"
Homura has certainly come a long way, and a lot has changed for her in the meantime. It would be a stretch to say that her pain was completely gone, but at least now it doesn't seem so unbearable. Especially since she gets to wake up next to the one she loves, cuddling and hugging and talking... It's a perfect start to what may very well end up being a perfect day.
"Nobody really wanted Walpurgisnacht to have its way. I'm just glad that people believed me enough to act. A lot of times they don't... but since Mami-san backed me up I guess I had more credibility." Well, actually, Kyouko still didn't believe at the time, but she still showed up when she was needed.
Madoka expresses her goal, and Homura smiles all the wider. "That'd be nice. If we could have a happy moment for every sad one, I'd like that very much." She nuzzles closer, whispering, "... but if you're serious about that goal, we better start catching up on good times right away~."
Her little angel's toes tease against her ankles, and Homura shifts in response, giggling softly from the teasing. This is a wonderful way to wake up, and exactly the kind of thing that Homura likes to do. It's even better than normal, because instead of waking up to something terrible, she gets to wake up to doing something fun with her beloved.
"Hmmm... cuddling or dancing? That's a tough choice." After a moment, she thinks out loud, "Well, if we go dancing now, we won't have to go far, and we can always resume cuddling later today." Then, with a giggle, she adds, "And with the way we dance, it's kindof like cuddling anyways. We get to hold each other and be close, after all."
Madoka couldn't think up a better way to wake up if asked. If the rest of the day continues to go so well it'll be one for the record books!
"You and Mami-san make a very potent team! Even though tensions were high and not very many people really trusted each other you were able to warn them enough to get a good outcome." Not a perfect one- the damage done by Walpurgisnacht to the city would take a long time still to repair, but considering the way it might have ended it was a rousing success.
Madoka wiggles a bit in Homura's arms as she smiles. "I am serious," she whispers back, "so I'm doing my best to make you happy. I feel like we're doing our part to catch up right now! Once we are caught up, more for good measure!"
Toes tease and tickle against Homura's ankles further as the dark haired girl giggles, and Madoka rubs the sides of her feet teasingly over the tops of Homura's, and even sneaks a tiny little brush of her foot a bit up one of Homura's legs.
But then she's wrapping arms and legs around Homura for one last squeeze before pulling away after hearing her thoughts. "Mmm, that's true. We like to dance close, don't we? We won't be missing out on anything, that way."
Reluctantly she pushes the bedcovers off of herself, rolling out of bed and getting to her feet before giving a big stretch and yawn, her belly button showing for just a moment as her arms go above her head. Her hair is a bit mussed after all the nuzzling, but having spent plenty of time waking up she looks happy and energized, a smile set firmly onto her face.
With a giggle Madoka makes to help Homura out of bed, her reasoning becoming clear as helping her up turns out to be drawing Homura's face closer to hers so she can kiss her as soon as she's on her feet. "Mm..."
Homura certainly considers it a huge success. Just having Madoka be alive after would be a success to her. Madoka's family also being alive is a huge bonus. Having saved most of the city on top of all of that... The fact that Homura considers a few deaths to be an optimistic outcome probably says a lot about how rough things were before, but it was a good outcome. Just... not one without cost.
Then again, Walpurgisnacht always came with a cost.
Homura holds Madoka tighter as her little angel wiggles, whispering back. "Of course! We'll need to make sure we're ahead in case something happens, and even if it doesn't we should..." She leans in for a kiss. "... make good..." Kiss. "... use of our time." A couple more kisses follow, driving the point home and illustrating what exactly Homura considers a good use of their time.
Homura gets goosebumps as Madoka's feet play with hers, and then run up her leg, and she breathes in sharply in response. When Madoka pulls away to get out of bed, Homura's purple eyes open, watching her closely as she rises out of bed and stretches. She smiles a bit impishly at seeing Madoka's belly button, but she's still a bit too sleepyheaded to try and tease her dear about it.
The timestopper takes Madoka's hand and accepts her help out of bed, first sitting up on the edge and then rising to her feet... finding her lips against her angel's. Mmm. Clearly this is the best way to wake up.
Homura eventually pulls out of the kiss, lips hovering only a millimeter away from Madoka's. "Do you want to get dressed first? I wouldn't mind dancing in our pajamas, if you'd rather."
If people had to die then better it was ones who were there fighting to protect others. Of course Madoka would prefer it if no one died, but she doesn't see the giving of a life to protect others as a 'bad' death. As Homura could no doubt attest to over and over.
Madoka giggles at Homura's whispering, accepting and returning each kiss given to her in turn, closing her eyes and making a happy sound with each one that comes. She seems to agree that this is a great way to spend their time together. Pink eyes open back up and look into purple, "Even if things are sad again for a time, that will just mean more happy times to make up for them with later." It's a bit of a childish or silly way of looking at things, but it's a good one to keep things happy right now.
When Homura is up and staying so close her breath washes over Madoka's lips as she talks she shivers a little, but not because she's cold. "Dancing in our pajamas could be fun," she whispers, rubbing Homura's sides with her hands, momentarily squeezing her waist as if about to lead her with a dance step that never comes, "But I think it would be better to get dressed. That way we'll be ready for anything that might happen! If we decide we want to go out for a walk, watch the cherry blossoms fall, or go out to eat we'll be ready to do whatever we want at a moment's notice."
It may be a bit childish, but Homura doesn't mind enjoying the good times. She knows that bad times will come again, and there's no reason not to make the best of things as they are. For now, she's with Madoka, and all is right in the world.
Homura smiles faintly at the thought of dancing in their pajamas, but what Madoka says next makes sense. "Yeah. We'd be better off if we did. Do you want to wear something of mine again? I'm sure we could find something, if you wanted to." Then again, Madoka might have brought her own change of clothes. Either way, Homura could've made sure that Madoka had something clean to wear in the morning.
Homura reaches up to run her hand through her own messy hair, saying, "I should probably brush this out, too. If we do decide to go somewhere, I want to be presentable." Leaning closer to her girlfriend, she adds, "Besides... I'd want to look my prettiest for you~."
Homura kisses Madoka on the lips for a moment longer, before pulling away to head towards her closet. She starts digging through her clothes, trying to find something acceptable to wear.
"Oh!" comes the excited comment at being able to wear something of Homura's. Madoka did bring something to wear, but... "Sure! That sounds like a lot of fun! You can pick something out for me if you'd like, too." Then the hand brushing through her hair, and Madoka takes about a quarter of her own hair and holds it out in pigtail fashion, and it looks more messy than fluffy, "I need to brush mine out, too. I want to be extra pretty if I'm going to be dancing with you." Then she giggles because of Homura's comment, twisting a little from side to side, only to calm as she's kissed.
She takes in a breath and lets it out as a happy sigh, following off after Homura a moment or two later, having snagged a brush to run through her own pink hair while she looks at clothes. Which... probably isn't going to save much time because she keeps wanting to look at everything and has to stop to move things around. As she sees Homura looking at things for herself she quietly offers, "It's been a long time since you wore a suit." She loves Homura dashing or beautiful, but they'd talked recently about the first dance they had where Mamoru cut in on Takashi, and Homura had worn a suit to that event so it was on her mind.
"No one can cut in on us if we're alone," she says suddenly with a playful laugh. Eventually she sets the hairbrush down and looks at a few of Homura's dresses, wondering if purple would look good on her. They -are- going to be dancing, and Homura mentioned looking her prettiest, so maybe it'd not a bother if Madoka is looking over the fancier things? Though after a moment she realizes being extra fancy might actually defeat the purpose of being ready to go anywhere at a moments notice, and so starts looking over things a bit less ostentatious.
The only person she knows that can pull off formalwear in any setting is Mamoru Chiba.
Homura certainly hasn't worn a suit in a while, especially since she's been a bit less professional lately. Still, when it comes to suits, she has quite a variety: Jackets ranging between black, dark purple, and various other dark colors. She has a variety of pants and skirts to match them, and a few colors of undershirt, too. At the mention of wearing something like that, Homura taps her chin, looking through her closet and smiling as she looks at her darling from the corner of her eyes.
As Madoka digs through Homura's various dresses and outfits, she might find something... frilly, white and pink? A few things, actually. If Madoka were to wear them, she might discover that they fit her better than they would Homura. Well, this isn't the first time Madoka's borrowed something to wear from Homura, and it's not the first time she's spent the night here either.
Homura's too sleepyheaded to remember that she has those right now, and she's distracted by trying to dress herself, but at some point Homura bought a few sets of clothing that she thought Madoka might like to wear. One's a white dress with puffed-up shoulders and pink frills around the hem. Another is more of an outfit, white shirt with pink shorts and a white fake-leather belt. A third set is a pink shirt complete with a white skirt. Of course, just because they're arranged in a logical fashion doesn't mean that Madoka couldn't use other things in Homura's wardrobe to make an outfit. There are plenty of purples, blacks, and reds to choose from, and the purple puella isn't shy about spending money on nice clothes.
With a few suit components in her arms, she turns around to kiss the back of Madoka's head. "I tend to keep brushes in the bathrooms, if you need one. There should also be one in the nightstand next to the bed. I'm going to go change, my dear."
Homura then heads off, vanishing around a corner to go get ready.
Madoka looks over and giggles a little as Homura starts looking through suits after she makes her suggestion. She intends to wear something of Homura's as she looks through the clothes, and the vastness of the closet and now nice everything is makes it a difficult decision.
She is surprised by the kiss on the back of her head, smiling and looking over her shoulder as Homura starts to go, not having noticed her girlfriend peeking at her earlier, "Thank you, Homura-chan!" With a giggle she notes, "It's nice having so many bathrooms to choose from." Certainly a departure from both of them changing in a hotel room with only one. "I'll see you soon, my love~!"
After that she's extra determined to look pretty as a picture for when they dance, trying to decide if she should go with a dress or an outfit. She looks curiously towards the exit where Homura had walked through when she comes upon the pink and white things, not knowing Homura to wear that combination. On a hunch she checks the size tag and... Yes, it's her size, not Homura's! "Aww! She got me things to wear when I stayed over. That's so thoughtful. Homura-chan is so sweet," she says to herself, smiling a little more.
Her intentions to wear something in one of Homura's colors is abandoned as she looks over the frilly dress, not only because it appeals to her for another reason as well. "If she got this for me, it must mean she'll think I'll look good in it!" She giggles as she takes it off the rack, finding a few accessories to match, namely a pair of girly white stockings. She even takes the time to find some that stop just a pinch before the hem of her skirt..!
Gathering everything up she heads back into the bedroom, peeking out into the hallway to make sure she won't get seen with her choice and sneaks off towards a free bathroom to change. "Hehe..!"
Homura will find a hairbrush randomly in her closet some day.
Homura walks into her bathroom, looks at her disheveled hair and makeup-less face. Her mouth is slightly agape when she sees herself. "... and Madoka was kissing me like this? She must really love me." However pretty Madoka thinks she is, Homura doesn't seem to agree.
It takes a while to brush out all of her hair, but the nice thing about her hairstyle is that she doesn't have to brush it out too much in order to make it look nice. Even so, it still takes her a while to make it look presentable, especially since she's trying extra hard for her beloved.
Pajamas are replaced with a white blouse and black pants. A black jacket goes over her new clothes, and she holds a purple tie in her hands as she considers... nah, maybe a bit too much. She sets it aside, instead opting to adjust her buttons and sleeves to make sure they look right. Then she reaches to a shelf next to the mirror and finds a purple hairband, slipping it into her black hair.
A few minutes later and she's out the door, looking around for her darling and wondering where she went.
If Madoka hadn't been so excited to dance she might have offered to do that brush Homura's hair herself. It might take some time but it's something she enjoys, seeing it in equal parts a chance to care for her girlfriend and play with her hair. It's also a time she can let herself stare without feeling embarrassed about it; even if she knows Homura wouldn't mind it'd still make her blush to get caught!
When she gets to the bathroom she first takes the time to wash her face, though no makeup goes on after it. She could probably be a little prettier or cuter with it with a touch so light only other girls would realize it was there, but she prefers to save that for special occasions. ...and also when she has Junko there to help her! Her own hair takes a little while to brush out as well, though not so long as Homura's. It isn't near so long, but that fluffiness the other girl likes to point out so much also lends to it being a bit unruly, with pink bits of it sticking out here and there.
It also doesn't hurt that she wants to brush it out extra nice. Homura will get to see her right after she's freshly made up, without any wind to blow it or other elements to mess it up even slightly, so why not make it sure it's looking it's best? Though she does put her hair up in her usual twintails rather than wearing it down or something else extravagant.
It may take a little while for Homura to find her if she searches up before she searches down, as Madoka had made her way down to the dancing room. Music can be heard from a ways off to make it easier, Madoka having found the sound system and put on a slow classical piece. As she gets closer she might also her Madoka singing wordlessly to herself beneath the music.
When Homura gets to den and can see Madoka through the door the pink haired girl smiles brightly to her. She's wearing the white dress with puffy shoulders and pink frills and the matching white stockings she'd found. No shoes to go with...because they're indoors! She's also standing near the sound system, and switches from one channel to the other, changing it over to the Karaoke machine and picking up the microphone. She giggles slightly as the classical music cuts out and leaves the room momentarily quiet, not knowing how to do any kind of fade out, if it's even possible on the setup Homura has. In this brief silence she takes the time to look over her girlfriends choice of outfit, smiling brightly again before giving a playful wink.
After short moment the Karaoke song she's selected starts, though even if there's a lyric player she pays no attention to it and instead keeps her eyes on the suited girl in front of her. When the music kicks in it's electronica and drums, simple to start but with growing complexity. She sways from side to the beat and repeating melody, trying to catch her girlfriends eyes with her own.
On cue she sings, her voice starting in a soft tone against the sharp music, "I know you've suffered, but I don't want you to hide. It's cold and loveless, I won't let you be denied." The last syllable of each sentence is extended, and she shakes her head a little on the last line. When the next line comes after a short pause her voice is much stronger. "Soothing! I'll make you feel pure." She holds one of her hands out to Homura, emoting with her eyes as well as her voice, "Trust me... you can be sure!"
A bass kicks in, humming, buzzing, and giving resonance while offsetting her high pitched voice and she launches into the main chorus of the song, swaying from side to side and taking small steps more than truly dancing along with it. As she sings she does her best to keep her eyes on Homura, because she believes everything she's saying and wants her to know it. "I wan't to reconcile the violence in your heart. I want to recognize your beauty is not just a mask. I want to exorcise the demons from your past. I want to satisfy the undisclosed desires in your heart!"
She stumbles a tiny bit when the next line comes immediately after and she has to sing once more in a soft tone as the bass fades out, but she presses forward regardless. "You trick your lovers that you're wicked and divine..." Okay so that line isn't sung with quite so much sincerity, the pink-haired girl suppressing a giggle while looking a tiny bit apologetic. This is offset by the emotion with which she sings the next line, "You may be a sinner, but your innocence is mine."
The bass returns and a blush is suddenly on her cheeks, the girl in white stuttering a tiny bit as she sings once more in strong tones, "P-please me... show me how it's done. Tease me~! You are the one!" She winks as she sings the second line, blushing a bit brighter as she dances a bit more to the music as the chours comes around again. "I want to reconcile the violence in your heart. I want to recognize your beauty is not just a mask. I want to exorcise the demons from your past. I want to satisfy the undisclosed desires in your heart!"
There's a musical interlude accompanied only by a bit of humming, and only now does Madoka break eye contact with Homura, showing herself off a little in the dress her girlfriend bought for her to wear, hoping she looks pretty and cute in it. She spins around slowly, facing the other girl once again as she starts to sing again, once more in a strong tone of voice, though it starts out with a giggle, "Please me~, show me how it's done. Trust me, you are the one!"
The chorus is back again for the last time, and Madoka dances her way over to Homura, wrapping her arms about the taller girl's neck, standing on her toes so she can get the microphone close enough to her mouth to pick up the words, "I want to reconcile the violence in your heart. I want to recognize your beauty is not just a mask. I want to exorcise the demons from your past. I want to satisfy the undisclosed desires in your heart!"
The music continues for an outro, and Madoka sways with her arms around Homura's neck. What the song doesn't say is that she wants to satisfy her girlfriends disclosed desires as well, and so she leans in on her toes to kiss her lovingly on the lips.
Homura looks in a few places, more listening than looking, just in case Madoka ended up taking longer than she did in getting dressed (unlikely, considering Homura's hair.) Eventually it occurs to her that Madoka must have already gone down to the dance room, and as far as meeting places go that one makes the best sense. She passes Amy on the way down the stairs, laying lazily in a nook in the wall, and gives the kitten a soft petting as she passes by.
When Homura hears classical music being played over her system, it's not hard for her to guess where Madoka is. Not wanting to keep her lady waiting, she hurries down the stairs, black hair whipping behind her. As she reaches the door, she reaches up to open it... but then she stops with her hand hovering over the door knob. She can hear the sweet sound of Madoka's singing while she thinks she's alone, and she wants to take a moment to savor it.
It's only after about half a minute that Homura opens the door and comes in, smiling sweetly as she notices Madoka's choice of outfit. "Oh! You found those! I wasn't sure..." She trails off as she realizes that Madoka is about to do something, and that she's had time to set it up, so instead she leans against a wall to watch.
Almost immediately, she's blushing slightly. The lightning in this particular room is often dimmer for a more romantic mood, but it's still not hard to recognize it. Especially since her girlfriend has seen it so much. When Madoka's arms are extended towards her, Homura pushes off of the wall and starts slowly walking towards her.
Homura is enraptured by the look in Madoka's eyes, and as her little angel sways back and forth, the devilish girl slowly walks forward to meet her. She doesn't know the words enough to sing along, and while there are words on the screen she just can't take her eyes off of her beloved.
Some of the lyrics make her blush harder, especially since Madoka is singing with sincerity, and doubly especially since it's Madoka singing it. The 'wicked and divine' comment causes her to smirk slightly. Not that Homura considers herself to be either, but it calls to mind certain recent events that were adorable (and heartbreaking) in their own way.
As Madoka spins around, Homura takes a moment to look at the dress that her darling picked out. The black-haired Puella had forgotten that she had bought it, but now she's thinking that it was a good investment. Especially since her darling does look cute in it.
Homura and Madoka meet in the middle, and when Madoka wraps her arms around her girlfriend's neck, Homura wraps hers around her beloved's waist. Not quite dancing, but holding each other like this isn't far from it. When the pink one moves in for the kiss, her purple eyes close as her lips accept it, holding her tight. If Madoka wanted to get her heart racing again, and get her in the mood, this was the perfect way to do it.
The blush on Homura's cheeks only give Madoka cause to perform at her best and the mention of the clothes that were gotten for her puts extra brightness in her smile. The does her best to put emotion and energy into her singing without overdoing it as Homura responds favorably, that pretty blush egging her ever onward.
She nestles closer to Homura as the arms wrap about her waist, and when the kiss is accepted she presses up against her beautiful suited girlfriend. She stays close, continuing to sway even after the music ends, enjoying the affect her heartfelt singing has had. "I love you," she whispers into her ear.
After a short while it starts becoming painfully obvious that Madoka didn't queue anything else up on the karaoke machine, and after a short while of silence the menu music starts playing and Homura can feel her shaking in her arms as she laughs silently. Rotating ten second clips don't make for the best dancing music!
"Thank you for the dress," she says once she gets better control of herself. "If I look good in it you have yourself to thank. Your suit looks very nice..." she murmurs, reaching up and playfully running her fingers under the collar, only to use it to pull Homura closer again for another sudden kiss, which she smiles into teasingly.
Then like a free spirit she twirls away, catching Homura's hand to draw her over to the sound system and trying to suppress both giggles and blushes at her little mistake. "What do you want to dance to, Homura-chan? Something slow so we can be close, or something quicker and more lively? Or maybe something we can sing along with." She pauses for a moment and blinks a couple of times before tilting her head and looking to Homura, "...I've never danced with someone else and sang, too. Is that even a thing?"
She doesn't sound convinced.
Homura shamelessly has no objections to egging Madoka on, especially in circumstances like these! When Madoka whispers into her ear, her response is, "I love you, too."
As much as she enjoyed the cuddling, if this is what she gets to wake up to then she's glad she got out of bed! That swaying is almost hypnotic, and Homura's arms drape lazily around her beloved, holding her loosely so as to not restrict her movement.
The time traveller is in the process of enjoying the moment of silence, being close to her special one when the menu music suddenly pops up again. She clears her throat a couple times, but if her own gentle shaking is any indication she's only trying to disguise her own laughter, too.
"You're welcome. I'm glad you like it. I thought it'd be convenient to have some clothes for you to wear here, since you like to stay the night." After a moment's pause, she says, "You can take it home if you want to. It's for you, after all."
To the compliment on her suit, Homura smiles. "Thank you, my dear. I do like looking nice for y--." She's cut off by the sudden grab and kiss, which she doesn't mind one bit~. If it means she can excite Madoka the same way she excites her... it's only fair, after all.
Her eyes slowly flutter open as her free spirited girlfriend pulls away, allowing her hand to be taken and letting herself be led away to the sound machine. Homura considers her options. Dancing, or singing? Or both?
"Well, I mean... there are things like Pon Pon that you sing and dance to... but I don't think there's anything like that for ballroom dancing specifically."
She has to actually think about her answer to Madoka's real question of 'what to do next'. Slow dancing is tempting, especially with the mood that Madoka's singing has put her in, but then something some lively might be fun too.
"I wonder which of these songs could be a duet. It might be fun to sing something like that..." A little embarrassed, she adds, "though I didn't really think that out ahead of time. I wouldn't mind just dancing and holding you close, either. I think I'd want to lean closer to the 'lively' side though, if that's the case. We can always save slow dancing until just before going back to sleep~."
Madoka enjoys that moment of silence while Homura has her arms around her so easily. Then after a moment she's grateful that her girlfriend is being discreet about the silliness of the unexpected music. "It is convenient, and you got such pretty things for me to wear! ...I still might want to wear something of yours from time to time though." Nothing wrong with mixing up her look now and again, right? Especially if it's just for Homura.
Madoka feels a little bad for cutting her off mid-sentence, but the joy of kissing her beautiful and dashing girlfriend more than makes up for it. To think that only a year ago she had no idea how wonderful kissing was, and now she gets to kiss someone who loves her all the time! Once they're over by the sound system Homura mentions Pon Pon and Madoka giggles at the memory of singing and dancing with her at the Karaoke Crown. "Oh, true! That kind of dancing is fun, but maybe it's not the kind of dancing I was thinking about," she notes happily.
The idea of a duet is broached and Madoka's eyes sparkle a bit, "That would be a lot of fun! You're right, we can slow down and dance close once we get a little tired from doing something lively. And if we want to take a break to hug and cuddle that's fine too." Realistically Madoka would be happy doing just about anything with Homura right now. The question of what would be the most fun is more difficult, however.
After a moment of thought Madoka notes, "I haven't gotten much practice with more energetic dances that we could do together. Do you know much about them? I'd be happy to learn if you wanted to teach me, or we could learn together." The pink-haired girl has moved onto hugging onto one of Homura's arms as they stand near each other deciding what to change the music to.
"Anytime you'd like to, dear~." It's not as if Homura minds Madoka wearing her clothes, in any case. If anything it's nice that they can share things like that. There's a very short list of people she'd even be willing to share her clothes with, and of them Madoka's probably the only person her clothes would even be close to fitting. There's a certain amount of enjoyment in sharing with her little angel, and in having something in her house that has sentimental value.
Homura giggles as Madoka admits that Pon Pon was not the kind of thing that she had in mind. Homura didn't imagine so, but it was the first thing she thought of when her significant other mentioned singing and dancing at the same time. "No I guess not."
Madoka seems to like idea of a duet, and Homura perks up. "Well... maybe we should keep that in mind! We can be on the lookout for a song to sing together, maybe." Unless they were able to find one nowish.
Then more energetic dances are mentioned, and Homura has to stop and think. "Well... I wouldn't say I have that much experience with things like... swing dancing or whatever. I think a lot of it is just dancing at a higher tempo, and also using more flourishes than normal." After a moment, she adds, "Well by 'flourishes' in this case I really mean things like spinning and... well there's a few other things like that. Would you want me to teach you some?"
Homura also considers a few dancing styles and mentally rejects the ones that rely on less physical contact.
"I will, then!" The thought that wearing some of Homura's clothes might impart a bit of extra sentimental value to them hasn't yet occurred to Madoka. If it does she might start wearing a bit more of them just for that. She wants Homura's home to be a place filled with happiness and good memories, just like she wants to fill her girlfriends life with enjoyment and love.
"We could sing it together again sometime, but right now I'm only feeling a little silly." As opposed to a lot silly, which Pon Pon certainly is. There is a certain romantic mood that she'd like to help maintain after all, because being with her beloved and feeling warm and tingly and with a few butterflies in her stomach is a very nice thing. "I'll try to think of something good we can sing together while we dance. Well, um, just so long as I can think of anything other than the dance steps and you~."
Which might be a bit harder when the dancing includes a higher tempo and a lot of flourishes, but you never know when one thing or another will lead to inspiration. She listens to her sweetheart's description of and nods quickly when the question is put to her. "Yes! That sounds like a lot of fun. And when it's just you and me I don't think I'll even feel worried about messing up." She giggles playfully and bounces on her heels, "If we practice a bunch and get really good we might really surprise people the next time we dance together in public too. Wouldn't that be fun?"
She squeezes onto Homura's arm, which she's still holding, before stepping away further back out onto the dancefloor. "I'm ready to learn, Homhomchan-sensei!"
Only a little silly.
Homura giggles as Madoka admits she's only feeling 'a little' silly. Pon Pon does not really match the description of 'a little silly', no. "Yeah, I'll try to think of something, too. I can't promise that I won't get lost in your eyes and distracted, though~." She's not even playing that up. It's a thing that might actually happen if Homura isn't careful... and she might decide not to be careful~.
She nods as Madoka says that it sounds like fun, and then giggles at the thought of showing off new moves at the next dance. "I'd love that. I bet our friends would be impressed to see how far we've come." Some of them might even be jealous of it, but she decides not to think about that.
Homura can't help but giggle at being called 'sensei', especially by a girl who, from a certain point of view, is a little older than her. She can't help but respond playfully. "Then pay attention~! There might be a pop quiz later~."
What would Homura mean by a pop quiz? She hasn't decided yet. She considered saying 'I'm only going to show you once' but that's a lie and they both know it.
Homura leans over the stereo system and tries to find something upbeat to play. Once she does, she takes Madoka by the hand, wraps her other arm around her waist, and pulls her into a dance. She leads, for the moment, and while she doesn't mind when Madoka leads it'd be a bit difficult for Homura to teach her things that way. "First we'll want to get the basic steps down. Consider this a warm up."
