It's a little late to be in the park. The sun has just set, casting the playground in an eerie twilight tint. Although the weather is nice, the park is almost completely deserted. But maybe this is the way she likes it.
Leaning over the bridge, peering into the crystal clear pond, that appears almost black in the darkness, reflected only by the numerous streetlights that line the bridge, a solitary Utau watches the night time fireflies come out to play, lighting up the waterlilies in an eerily beautiful light.
Although she's always been pretty serious, Utau seems particularly upset tonight..
Utau is not the only one out tonight. It is late, Sierra knows it. She should be at home but she just isn't ready for that yet. There is too much on her mind. She called her parents and let them know where she was and then just went walking in the park. Floating beside her is a little chara in an old style pilots gear. Quietly the two move along just minding their own business. At least that is until Sierra sees Utau.
The young bluenette slowly approaches the bridge but she doesn't make her presence known. Not yet. She's been hoping to encounter the singer since yesterday but has not been able to until now. Its got her a touch worried. Now that she is so close, she is leary to actually speak up.
"You can do it Sierra! Just tell 'er! Ya got this!"The voice has a very distinct southern american accent. Kit is trying to push Sierra closer to the bridge and ain't working.
"Would ya shut up already?! I'm trying to get my thoughts together." Sierra retorts quietly, hoping she wasn't just heard.
Iru sits on the bridge, staring up at Utau, Eru sitting on the other side. "Utau-chan! cheer up! I told ya it wouldn't work, trying to team up with the heroes! You'll just make things worse for Ikuto-kun, so forget about it!" states Iru, arms folded stubbornly.
Eru meanwhile, clasps her hands in front of her, peering up at Utau with those innocent half-closed eyes of hers. "No, Utau-chan! Don't listen to her! You did the right thing..I'm sure Kukai-kun would understand..." Both of them freeze when they hear the sounds of another girl approaching. And is that..A Guardian Chara?"
"Utau!" they both warn her at the same time, but Utau's already spotted the familiar form of the girl she nearly attacked the other day. And what's this, a Guardian Chara?
"Sierra-san..." amethyst eyes narrow as she turns to regard the girl thoughtfully. "So. Your guardian chara finally hatched.." She sighs, studying Kit intently, a soft frown upon her face. Looks like she was too late to X-ify it, although a part of her is relieved that she no longer has that hanging over her head.
Sierra Earhart listens and for the first time actually sees Iru and Eru! She smiles a little and stifles a little giggle She shakes that off when she is addressed. She gives a polite bow. "Hoshina-san, I was actually hoping to run into you. I umm, yes. This is Kit. She hatched yesterday." She blushes. "I need to apologize to you. It was really rude of me to doubt you. I didn't know what I was talking about and you did."
Kit floats her way over to the bridge. She lands there and smiles to Iru first and then Eru. "Well Howdy gals! Good t' see yas! I'm Kit! I love to Fly! Don't you?!" She asks curiously. She definitely shows more of where she's from then Sierra does. She's by far more outgoing too!
Sierra smiles and watches her chara go over. "I definitely believe now. I about freaked when I woke up to something touching my leg! Finding an egg there just sorta caught me off guard."
"Hmm.." she murmurs as she peers thoughtfully at the girl and her newly hatched guardian character. "...I see.." Utau seems..Distracted, and not overly excited to see the new guardian character.
Iru and Eru however, smile and wave at her, darting towards Kit and introducing themselves. "Hi! I'm Eru, and this is Iru! Nice to meet you! What took you so long? Isn't this great? I gotta introduce you to all my friends now!"
Utau just arches a brow at Sierra as she offers up an apology, folding her arms, "Hmph. You should have realized from the start that I wouldn't just babble a whole lot of nonsense. I'm not a fool, everything I say is the truth!"
She frowns, "However, I leave all the rest up to Kukai and his Guardian friends. Seems he was quite upset that I had given you all that information in the first place.." she grits her teeth, "This is what I get for trying to help."
Sierra Earhart smiles, "That is why I said it the way I did. I study a lot of Science. Everything gets backed up by fact. Until then its just a hypothesis. Now its kinda hard not to believe it all because right there is Kit! It could be that I just don't trust easily. I have kept people at a distance for so long that I just don't know how to open up easily."
"What took me so long?! You met Sierra! A bird could fly into 'er face and she would second guess it! She's a few parts short of an engine sometimes but she is a good person. Just gotta get her to quite being so scared of heights!" She smiles a little. "Oh Yeah? I'm all about makin new friends. I met Daichi in school today. Now I'm meeting you both! This is sweet!" Kit comments with her own little charm. She is most definitely more outgoing.
"What may I ask happened?" The young bluenette asks as she steps closer to Utau. "If you don't wanna tell me you don't have to. I'm here anyway."
Utau nods, not really wanting to talk to this girl, but finding herself understanding some of what she says, "I see. It makes sense to only believe what can be proven. However, there are some things you just have to believe in. I always believed in myself, and couldn't afford to let anyone get too close, given the kind of life I was forced to live.."
She smirks, "But then, I had little choice in the matter. What is your reason for keeping people at arm's length? Is it to protect yourself from getting hurt?"
Utau shrugs and sighs, looking back at the pond. "OH, so you talked to Daichi-kun then. I'm sure he and Kukai-kun will be able to help you and your guardian character better than I can." She grips the railing tightly as she speaks, her nails digging into the soft wood. Indeed, Utau seems pretty tense tonight.
"To be honest, I dont even know you that well, or anyone else in this world that I can confide in. However, it seems that I have no choice in the matter. Trying to be 'good', trying to do the 'right thing'...Trying to be a 'hero' doesn't seem to suit me. Furthermore, any time I try, I get threatenned and am about to lose everything. Again.."
Sierra Earhart frowns, "I haven't. I've had trouble believing in myself for a long time. Four years ago I found my dream and was scared to follow through with it because of my fear of heights. I guess it just ruined my self esteem. Now I've been told I need to actually rise above that or it could hurt Kit. I don't want to hurt her but its still a long road."
Sierra watches as Utau seems intent on tearing apart the bridge with her bare hands. "You don't have to worry. I doubt I'm on his list of potential dates. He's an acquaintance and perhaps a friend. I don't have many here."
Then she just smiles a little. "Sounds like common ground then. You don't know me very well, I don't know you very well. We both lack people to confide in. I mean I can talk to Kit now and you could talk to your charas but I don't think thats the same thing. Thats more like talking to yourself. If you need an ear, mine's open. I'll help if I can." She bows politely.
Utau bites her lip, still staring intently at the pond. "Don't ever give up on yourself, or your dreams! That's why I have two guardian characters, instead of the usual one..Because my dreams were so big, and I hung onto them for so long. But now there seems to be more at stake, and sometimes it feels as if my charas are often at odds. I don't even know which way to turn anymore. But..."
She glances over at Sierra and smirks, "I've already said too much. Forget it.." Still, Sierra tries to console her about Kukai and Utau just laughs, "Well. I'm sure he wont see it that way. Sooner or later, he'll ask you out on a date. He does that with every pretty girl he sees.." And as she says that, Utau seems annoyed, still eyeing Sierra as a potential rival.
"But, I'm not ready to give up on him yet, either. Be forewarned.." As for having common ground between then, Utau just shrugs, "In the end, the only person you can count on is yourself. Sure, talking to your guardian character is like talking to yourself. But how well do you really know and understand your inner feelings?"
Sierra gives a little frown and just shakes her head. "This is really difficult I wish it were easier I'm trying my hardest to keep failing. Its something that really isn't easy for me."
The little blue haired chara comes floating over to Sierra, "As long as you believe in me, I won't stop helping you to get your dreams. Just don't give up!" Kit smiles and lands on her shoulder.
"Must you always be so up beat? Yeesh!" She looks at Utau and smirks, "You don't need to worry, I won't stand between you and Kukai. You have a thing for him and I would be a horrible person if I tried to interfere."
Utau nods, looking at Kit with a bit more respect now. "Your guardian character is right. She'll help you get to where you want to be, although it wont always be easy. But in the longer run, it'll make you happier, I'm sure.."
She's not one for encouraging smiles, so she just kind of nods. When tries to reassure her that she wont be her competition, Utau just shrugs. "Well. Whatever. How was he, by the way? I was a little worried...I kind of..Abandonned him when he needed me, in the middle of a battle against some powerful youma.."
In fact, this seems to be what is bothering her the most tonight, and although she promised she wouldn't indulge this girl that she doesn't know very well, well right now she's feeling pretty crummy.

Sierra gives a soft smile and shrugs, "He seemed alright. He was trying to help me understand just what all was going on. Also cheering on other kids. We were climbing the rope in Gym. I barely was able to do it."
Kit sticks her tongue out at Sierra, "It's okay Sierra! You'll get there eventually!" She giggles playfully and floats on back over to hang out with Iru and Eru.
"Wait you were fighting a what? What is a Youma? I've never heard of anything like that. Is it like a Satsuma? If so why were you fighting it?" She asks curiously. Her mind is racing. Why were her well, friends, fighting things. The image of a giant Satsuma rolling down the streets of Tokyo fills her head and she can't help by laugh.
Utau seems a bit relieved by that, however, her pride has already been damaged. "Satsuma?" she arches a quizzical brow, shaking her head with a soft frown. "Where did you get that from? No...Maybe I've already said too much already."
Utau shrugs. "Let's just say he was in a dangerous situation and I came to help, but, after my cover was exposed, I had to flee..Now, I may have put my brother in jeopardy because of it."
But perhaps she can talk to Rena about this..And Norie, although that may leave her even more confused. Even so, she was concerned about the vampire girl as well, if only because she understood her situation all too well.
"Listen, it's already complicated, so I don't want to overwhelm your mind with other stuff. You should just focus on getting familiar with your new Guardian Character. I'm glad that he was able to help you out. Kit seems like a nice Guardian Character. Someday she may become quite powerful.."
Sierra Earhart sighs, "Hoshina-san, I'm going to find out one way or another. Its not like I can get any more confused." She sighs softly, "And yes a Satsuma! I've not eaten in a while and I'm hungry!" She giggles a little before pulling herself together. Turns out there is actually more of Kit in her then she is willing to let on.
"I am hoping to meet with the Guardians again soon. Question though, you probably know them better then I do, Is Hotori-san always... Sparkly?" Sierra asks curiously. "That was really weird. Seriously though, it doesn't matter who likes it or not, I'm a part of this now. I've already been told that Chara bearers can transform. Kukai told me he would show me eventually." She stops and thinks a little. There is something nipping at her. "Wait... When we first met... You said you were going to sing me a song. No way. Nah. You're not a terrible person."
"Tadase-kun..?" she arches a brow, "Well, I suppose so. Sometimes he can be a bit too sickly sweet. Personally I think he's too good for that Amu girl. But whatever, I guess. He's a good guy, and he and Kukai-kun you can count on for sure."
Utau had already mentionned she was working with Easter and that they were bad. She idly wonders if Sierra remembered that part, and she almost laughs when she mentions offering to sing to her before.
"Hmm, well that's another story, I wont even get into. Are you really a fan of my music?"
Sierra Earhart listens carefully to the words. Utau speaks concerning Tadase and Kukai. "Then I will trust them. I don't trust easily because of every thing."
"YES SHE DOES!!!" Kit shouts from the rail of the bridge. "She just pretends she doesn't so she doesn't get hurt if she has to leave again!"
Sierra just shakes her head and facepalms. "Oh come on. Really Kit?" She frowns and really wants to break down over that one. She fights it off. Ahh! A distraction! "Oh yeah! You are one of my favorite vocalists. I love Meikyuu Butterfly! Its really cool!" She fangirls just a little but doesn't go too off the rails.
Utau nods. "That's understandable, neither do I. But I know those two, and I know they can be trusted. Finding people you can trust is difficult, but.."
Glancing at Kit, she smirks, "I know how that feels. Sometimes you need to develop a thick skin. I too, have trouble making friends and openning up to people. Even now, I feel like I may be doing the wrong thing by trusting members of Virtue to help me with my little problem.."
Peering back at Sierra as she says that, Utau is once again struck by how she hurts the fans who are touched by her music. "Looks like I'll be having another concert coming up soon.." She doesn't seem terribly thrilled about it though.
Sierra Earhart smiles a little, "Its very difficult for me to give in to that. Kit is right. I trust way too easily and I remind myself just how painful it is to leave the people I'm closest to. It hurts so much. I just miss them so much."
Kit comes back over and smiles at the two bearers, "Not trusting in people doesn't help! Those people are still your friend, You can talk to them whenever."
As Utau mentiones about the upcoming concert, Sierra looks at her closely. She can hear in her voice just how unthrilled she is over it. "Easter is using your concerts, aren't they?"
"Well, I think it's best to not get too attached to anyone, if you can help it. That way, it's not so painful when you have to say 'goodbye.'"
She looks at Kit and shrugs, "But I suppose sometimes, you need to open your heart, just a little, to a few people. But never let your guard down completely." Her expression once again hardens, "I meant what I said before. You cant completely trust me either..."
Utau pauses as Sierra brings up Easter, nodding and sighing, "Yes. I work for Easter afterall, and they are the ones who helped me to get to where I am today. So I suppose I owe them for this. It was foolish of me to try and turn against them, and now I'm about to pay the price for that."
Sierra Earhart nods, "You are right, It does make it easier. But it also hurts to not get attached to anyone." She frowns over that comment though. "Well on that you are right. You did threaten to take my heart's egg." She glances over ti Iru, "Believe it or not, I was paying attention. Just because I didn't understand at the time and thought I was crazy, doesn't mean I wasn't listening."
She thinks a few moments. "It sounds like Easter is nothing but trouble. Its something that I know you don't want to be a part of but you seem unable to get away from them. I don't know the whole story. All I can do is be an open ear. I'm willing to do that, Even if we don't completely trust each other."
Utau smirks, "Well, seems you remembered all that then. Smart girl.." she nods, "That's right, but now that your egg has hatched, I wont be as much of a threat to you at least.." when she offers her ear however, Utau quickly shuts up, shaking her head, "Hmph, I've already said too much. I have to go. Good night." and with that abrupt comment, she swiftly departs.
