Ataru Touya was walking along the various store fronts. He wasn't particularly looking at anything specific. Window shopping. He was talking on the phone. "You found what?-- no, what am I going to do with a tuxedo!? Wear it around town in the afternoon like some kind of nutcase?" he pauses. "I don't care how good the deal is! Ugh. Fine. I'll. check it out with you later Naka-chan." he admitted in defeat. He'd regret this later. He soon found himself passing by Fairy Drop Fashionables and peeking into the windows a moment. On one of the display mannequins was a lovely dress. Red. Classy. Elegant. and Fifty Percent off. He tapped a finger to his chin a bit, before raising his smartphone and taking a picture of it. He'd then text it to Naota, along with a text.
> Atakun: This is on sale at the Fairy Drop. Come down if you wanna check it out! ^_^
Ataru either waited for a reply-- or for Naota to come out and find him.
It's a little while before Ataru receives his reply:
> Sunaota: ...I'll come and have a look at it, but I don't think I'm ready to buy something like that just yet. I'll catch the bus.
Another ten minutes and Naota shows up. Navy blue slacks, yellow t-shirt with some English slogan on it (he has no idea what it says: he got it because it was cheap). He waves to Ataru when he sees him, attempting to affect casualness. "Yo, Ataru!"
Ataru Touya imagines it probably says something in bad engrish too. Ataru doesn't seem to be paying too much attention to the shirt anyways. He has one hand in his pocket. One holding out his phone. Naka-Chan may be spamming his IM application window with tuxedo related spam. Already regretting it.
Oh, thank the gods, Naota's here so he has a polite reason to shut his phone off. Click!
"Hello, Naota." he turns back to the window and motions at the dress. "I dunno. Saw it. Though you might like to hear about it." he says casually. "Even if you don't feel like it yet, Might be nice to consider later, right?" he says with a smile.
He pauses. "Did something go down yesterday? I was busy with Club stuff- Ballet Club uses the school break to use with the big gym room for practice without interuption." he adds.
Naota's looking at it in the window. Red's not really his color but it IS pretty: he blushes a bit when he realizes he's probably been staring at it for too long and turns around, putting his attention back towards his new-ish friend. "W-well, sure. And... it's kinda weird. Things have been happening but it's not the Three Shadows." He frowns. "I guess there's some other magical types here."
Ataru Touya watches Naota look. Then feels a little bad as he blushes. He closes his eyes. "Hey... it's okay. Didn't mean to embarass you." he says with a genuinely kinda smile. His eyes open as he crosses his arms. "More things than the three shadows?" he asks with a frown. Well. That's troubling. "Like what?" he asks.
"Surely nothing more dangerous than them, right?" he asks, looking concerned.
"I don't know. Something about aliens? And... some kind of cat guy." More frowning. "I'm not sure what his deal is. He might not be a bad guy. Or at least he might not be ALL bad guy. I asked Puchi about it but he didn't know anything." Sigh. "As usual."
Ataru Touya raises a brow. Aliens? Cat Guys? What?
"So some kind of Neko and Space Aliens? Really?" he asks. Ohhhhh Puchi, why do you need to be an adorable magic hamster but know abousltely nothing really useful about anything besides shoving magical mirror shards into secretive hearts.
"So you've been handling that all alone?" he asks impressedly. He may not be aware of the existence of other heroes. "I guess I need to pickup the tempo. No reason you should be working alone keeping people safe." he smiles. Then pauses. "You weren't hurt really bad or anything. Right?" he asks. Sudden concern!
Naota smiles and spreads his hands reassuringly. "I'm fine! I'm just happy to have someone else who's, y'know..." The smile becomes a little bit sheepish. "Going through the same stuff? It helps. But I think we'll be fine if we're fighting together."
Ataru Touya crosses his arms and nods matter of factly. "Yes!" he says. "Relax. You don't need to worry about that with me, right, eh?" he says with a more confident smile. He looks back to the store. He motions Naota along as he begins to walk further down the street.
"You hungry?" he asks. "I haven't eaten yet." he asks looking down the street. Isn't there a cafe or something close by?
"Is the Music Club meeting during the August break?" he asks softly. "It'd seem like a good time to get longer practice in." he asides.
Naota makes to follow Ataru in search for food. "The music club?" He nods. "Yeah, we're meeting. People are talking about whether or not we're going to try for Regionals. If other people want to do it I might, but honestly I don't think I feel like pushing for it myself." He sounds a lot more relaxed talking about this. "So long as I can practice I think I'll be okay. What about dance? Do you guys have any performances coming up?"
Ataru Touya grows quiet for a moment, as Naota asks if there's any performances coming up. "Yeah there is." he says. That's all he says on it. He doens't seem to want to elaborate on it. Primarily for reasons Naota may already suspect. Primarily. He's not getting the male lead role. Again. He looks up at cafe they pass, with a small seating area. He walks into space and huhs. "This place looks good." he says. Soon a busy, overwhelemed waitress comes over to take orders. He orders a sandwhich. Egg. Water.
He looks to Naota as he waits for his order. This is most likely Ataru's treat. He offered first, afterall.
"You should go to regionals if you can make it." he says. "It'll be good competition!".
Naota stares at the menu for a moment. "Uh... tuna, please? And water. Thanks!" He gives the waitress a shy, nervous sort of smile, then looks back to Ataru and frowns a little: he knows what he's on about. "You can do it, Ataru. We just have to make 'em see that you were made for those roles. I wish there was some way I could help you with that." He nods to Ataru's advice for going to regionals: he agrees but he's not changing the subject just now.
Ataru Touya didn't need to look at the menu. Any cafe worth thier salt has an egg sandwhich! /any of them/. (He'd be repulsed if there wasn't one on the menu.). He does listen to Naota telling him he can do it. "Yeah. Maybe." he says. "I guess I just need to try harder." he insists. Or get lucky again. Maybe he can trick the lead into catching a cold! Meh, probably not. Also. He's not that underhanded! He sighs and folds his hands on the table. "Still gonna study up on the role, regardless. Get into more practice at home." he says. "Until then.... just a backup dancer." he sighs loudly. He peers towards the door to the cafe. Waitress returns quickly with sandwhiches. Ataru opens his up and begins giving it a liberal amount of ketchup.
Naota carefully doesn't comment on the ketchup. He nods again, sighing. "There's gotta be somethin' you can do." He has a bite of his sandwich and thinks a little. "Maybe if you put on your own performance somehow?"
Ataru Touya doesn't quite empty the ketchup bottle. It's a surprise when he puts the bun back on that it doesn't bleed ketchup onto the plate. He picks up and takes a bite from the sandwhich. Mmmmm. Ketchup, Egg. It's perfect. So uttlerly perfect. Then he blinks. "My own show?.. I. Don't know. A single personl show is kind of... silly. Might have to sell a few of the club mates into helping." he asides. "So... maybe." he says. He'd need to figure on that more. "It'd just be nice to be a in proper performance, instead of having to make my own show." he admits.
He takes a sip of water. Then a larger gulp of water.
"Okay I used too much ketchup." he finally states.
Naota eats his sandwich in peace. "Is there anybody in the club you think would want to do a side performance with you?" He's still thinking about this, going around in little mental circles on the topic. "We can talk about somethin' else if you want," he adds, "I didn't mean to make this all about that."
Ataru Touya is mentally going 'oh gods, yes please, change the topic, I can feel my heart wilting.'. He doesn't want to upset Naota with asking him to drop it though- but he jumps on the topic when Naota brings it up first. "Yes, let's talk about something else." he says. He takes more bites from his over-ketchuped egg sandwhich. He takes a few sips of water between bites. "So..." he says. "Let's talk about something pressing!" he smiles.
"So has Puuchi said anything relevant at all?" he asks.
"I kinda get the impression that we're running around in circles. Face monster with weird mask, fight it. Rinse. Repeat. Right?" he asks.
"I mean. is that it?" he asks.
Naota sighs. "Right now, that looks like it. He's said something about three shadows, but I haven't seen 'em yet. We've gotta figure out something else to do about all of that." He looks thoughtful and finishes his sandwich. "Hey, you wanna come over to my place? We could talk to him an' maybe play video games or somethin'."
Ataru Touya has put enough ketchup in his stomach for three tomato farms to be rich forever. So of course he's done as he finishes up his water. "Sure. I'll come over! I wanna poke the furball anyways, myself." he says as he gets up to go pay the bill, and get out of here!
