Naru hasn't left the coffee shop yet, she's still got half a cup of hot chocolate, with extra syrup and enough sugar to fuel an entire elementary school for a day. She is still texting as she moves up to the counter and asks for her half cup to get topped up with good dark coffee to cut the sweet. Mocha, ftw!
Naru brings a much improved cup back to her table to settle there and dig for her satchel to get a bit of drawing, and notes, before she gets going on the rest of her day.
Takashi doesn't waste much time after he hears new of Ami being missing for two very important reasons. Reason 1 being that Ami is missing, and that's worrying. Reason 2 is that he expects people to blame him for that fact, and that could just straight out cause trouble.
So he's got his winter coat on over jeans and a black t-shirt - not exactly mad scientist wear today - and he's come via a Dusk Zone juimp to the last place Norie told him he could find Naru, because she explicitly did not want to 'punch him in the face' per his vampiric second in command. He walks through the door, a look of concern on his face.
Naru looks up as the door opens and she quirks her head, considering Tashaki as he steps inside. There's a half smile as she lifts her hand to wave to him, clearly not actually surprised to see him conveniently appear at the coffee shop before she's managed to even sip her freshly modified drink, nor open her sketchbook.
"I was expecting a text message." Naru comments to him, presuming he comes closer. "Can I get you a coffee? Or something to eat? Please. Join me."
So far, no hint of punching potential.
Takashi smiles a bit. "Thought I could catch you here if I hurried. I have a really effective form of private transit." He pulls out a chair and sits across from her. "Food later, maybe. Right now I need to know what's going on." There's a certain calm worry about him, a sort of businesslike mixture of focus and even threat.
"I don't have a lot of answers." Naru notes immediately, taking a sip from her own drink even while Takashi declines one for himself. "I have a lot of questions, and a lot of blank."
Naru is quiet a moment, only long enough to gather her thoughts into order before she nods. "Currently as best as we can put together, you are the last to have seen her on Monday night, provided she really did leave the conversation with me to go and give you a hard time about cards as I expect." She pauses a moment. "She stuck a note up in ECFH later that night, but no one was around, so no. I am not accusing you of anything, before you worry about that."
Takashi frowns. "Yeah, she came over and we talked. There was a little arguing. But nothing out of the ordinary, nothing so heated we couldn't work it out. We left on the usual terms and I watched her leave... I haven't talked to her since then."
Takashi looks up, tilting his head. "ECFH?" he asks, a bit perplexed by the term.
"So nobody's heard from her since... that's... a long time. She wouldn't miss school for so long. Not without setting up plans to get assignments, and I assume if she had, you'd know what was up..."
"Sorry, stupid slang for Mamoru's apartment." Naru explains easily and then nods slowly. "I wasnt' at school on Tuesday, but she hasn't been there since Tuesday, we noticed Wednesday and I am sorry for not getting in contact with you sooner. I tried, but I dont actually /have/ contact information for you." She sounds sincerely apologetic.
"Exactly. So while I am very confident in her abilities to take care of herself, to say that I'm getting really very worried is an understatement." Naru nods. "Did she give any clue on Monday on what she was planning to do? Where she was going? People she was going to go talk with?"
Takashi shrugs. "I haven't made it EASY for you to contact me either. Maybe I should for these sort of circumstances but you can see how that might be awkward." he says, laying his palms on the table.
"No, she didn't give me any sort of indication about where she was going or what she was doing. I mean, especially with the nature of our discussion, she wouldn't have gone off on her own... I don't think. And we had a date for this weekend." That's what going to the Dusk Zone together counts as, right?
"Somewhere I could leave a message would be sufficient, if that wouldn't impose upon you too much." Naru gestures a touch. "For this sort of thing. We do periodically have a mutual concern."
Naru frowns a little as Takashi has no new insights. Not surprised, clearly, but some tiny bit of hope had lingered. "Well. Dammit." She takes a slow breath, held a moment and then let out in a sigh. "It feels like she just vanished into thin air. Without school today, I hope to do some poking around, but I don't know if I'll be able to pick up much. I cannot read magical energy."
Takashi grumbles audiably. "This is no good. No good at all." he mumbles, mostly to himself. "I'll consider something. I've got your number, at least, and..." Takashi takes out his phone, a sleek black Eclipse phablet, and sends her a basic text message of 'This is Takashi.' "Now you have mine."
"Well, I can, and I set up a system to look for magial anomalies, but it turns out that the whole of Tokyo is covered in the things. It was really noticable in Peru, how magically quiet it was by comparison. I'll see if anything seems... more anomalous than the other anomalies, though. And worst case that'll give us a list - I'll start looking at Monday evening."
As Naru's phone goes bing in direct correspondance with Takashi hitting send, she nods. "Thank you." At least her Virtue phone is not all sparkles and rainbows, but it is sleekly white.
"I am utterly not surprised to hear that Tokyo is chock full of magical quirks. Look at how many of us there are." Naru nods in agreement. "I would appreciate if you could keep me in the loop of what you find with regards to Ami. My methods are likely to be much more mundane."
Takashi nods at Naru and then looks, for a moment, very worried. "It's not like her to just vanish, though. Not like her at all. She's much more planning oriented." Than Takashi is, for sure.
"I'll be sure to keep you in the loop, and you can keep her friends that are... less fond of me... in the loop."
Then he looks at her, and the concern continues to be evident on his face. "Please tell me if you hear anything. This is... VERY worrying, to me."
"No. It's not like her at all, and that's why I'm also very worried." Naru nods, taking another of those slow breaths.
"I will be certain to tell you if I hear anything." Naru agrees readily. "I know you care for her too, even if we might disagree on other things."
Takashi nods, emphatically, looking at Naru for a moment as though judging her. "Thank you. I'm going to get..." then he stops. "Hey actually what's good here? Looks like I'll be settled in front of a terminal for an hour or so, might as well get a snack."
Naru flips her phone over for a slightly different bing tone, glancing at it a moment and then looks back to Takashi. "The apple fritters come under high recommendation. I enjoyed the ham and cheese biscuits, if you're looking for something savoury. I don't know if you have much of a sweet tooth, but the hot chocolate is attempting to make Tokyo diabetic, one cup at a time." She adds after a moment. "Also, Kunzite would appreciate if you could text him. If Lacrima didn't pass on the number, I have it as well."
"No, I only got yours." Takashi says as he muses over the food. "I've asked to speak to Kunzite, too, through Ami. But I guess I don't know if her disappearance means that message didn't get through." He grumps for a moment. "So if I could have his number that'd be helpful."
Naru considers a moment. "It is possible that Kunzite got the message, but then could nto reply as his connection to you is currently awol." She taps a message on her phone, sending Takashi the number Kunzite has provided. "There, you should have it now. He is usually quite prompt at replying, if he is free."
Takashi nods. "I'll send him a message, too. After I get settled in at my lab. This has proven to be as worrying as I was afraid it might be..." he says, standing up and offering a hand to Naru to shake. "Thank you for getting word to me, Osaka-san."
Naru stands as well and reaches her hand out to shake his. There's no hesitation there, no apparant fear. "I am sorry for causing distress, but I would rather you be in the loop than not. Thank you for meeting with me."
"Absolutely. You didn't cause the distress, the situation did. I should be in distress with Ami-chan missing." He says firmly as they shake. "I'll keep you in my loop about this too. Whatever's going on, we'll find her." And the reflexive clenching of Takashi's fist might also indicate that if someONE is responsible, he's going to clobber the hell out of them in a way that would make Hannah proud.
And if it is a someONE, there might be a lineup to get a clobbering in.
"Thank you. I won't keep you any longer. I'll look forward to hearing from you." Naru takes a breath and then moves to settle again, turning her attention back to her phone for a moment.
Takashi gives what is perhaps an over-exaggerated bow to Naru before he walks up to the counter to order some foodstuffs. So much for taking the afternoon off.
