Usagi's texted people off and on since Monday night. Service down in The Bunker isn't exactly existing.
She's left the cafe where she spent most of it texting Ami. Now she's on her way to check on Kyouko.
After a few more errands, namely getting really horrible and delicious greasy takeout, she's going to head back and be cut off from civilization completely.
Not that she minds, she'll be in the best company!
A pause outside the building to text back her mother. She's really not sure if the matriarch of the family really doesn't believe her, or if she's being a giant troll.
Kyouko has spent the night in the Meguca Hospital, in the care of one Dr. Iris Shelby, but she's much better now. She's got a hard head, y'see- also helps being a Puella, a breed of magical girl that is notoriously hard to keep down. This isn't a case of her spiritually exhausting herself like after Walpurgisnacht- this is a simple case of physical injury, and for that it's much easier to deal with.
So it is that as Usagi is approaching the building, Kyouko herself is coming out (wearing her coat, of course!). She just has a bit of a slight limp, that's all. It'll be gone by the end of the day. She looks pretty well, considering the last time Usagi saw her she was unconscious under a fallen tree. She blinks as she spots the blonde girl on the sidewalk. "Hey, Usagi!" She calls, waving a hand. "What're you doin' here?"
Usagi looks up from her phone and blinks for a bit.
Then, when her mind gets back on track, her face lights up.
"Eeeee!" There's a happy jog and a hug for Kyouko! "I came to see you!" She pulls back and checks the girl over. "Are you okay? Are you still hurt?" Fret fret flutter! Mother hen!
She pulls back and gives Kyouko a Face. It's close to a petulant pout. "Sayaka-chan said you were still hurt from Willythingabob." More of a petulant pout!
Kyouko blinks when Usagi jogs over and hugs her, but then laughs softly and puts an arm back around the other girl, squeezing her. "I'm fine, hon, really." She steps back, holding her arms out as if to say 'look, see?' "No lasting injuries, I promise."
When usagi mentions 'Sayaka-chan said', Kyouko freezes for a moment.. then frowns slightly, her brows drawing together, shaking her head. "No, I'm not. I'm pretty much back to normal. How would she know, anyway? I haven't seen her in over a week. When did /you/ talk to her?" There's no accusation in that, more surprise.
A suspicious look! A slight squinting of eyes to say 'I'm watching you, Buddy, you better not be lying to me!'
Then her eyes widen. "Oh!" She rumages through her purse to pull out her wallet. "I ran into her at the cafe last night. We had a...chat."
This time, her look is a bit sheepish.
She pulls out the letter Sayaka wrote out and handed it to Kyouko. "I didn't read it, promise!"
Kyouko blinks slightly as the letter is presented to her. She stares at it for a moment, as if afraid to take it. The last time a letter passed between herself and Sayaka, it caused no end of trouble, after all. After a moment of hesitation though, she reaches out and takes it.
Glancing up at Usagi, she opens it, and her hand maybe shakes just a little. Quickly, she scans the words written on the sheet, her face looking a little tense. After a moment though, she glances back up at Usagi.
She's smiling, a more genuine smile than her usual lopsided smirk, and there might be the faintest glimmer of wetness in her eyes. "That girl's gonna be the death of me, y'know that hon?" She laughs softly, shaking her head, and then tucking the letter into her pocket securely. "But I don't think I'd want it any other way."
Usagi quietly frets as Kyouko reads the letter.
Oh dear.
Part of her wishes she could have looked at the letter first, to make sure it wouldn't be an emotional blow on top of the physical ones already received.
But well! It's not really her place to read letters!
And then she's relieved! Phew! And she's hugging Kyouko! Huzzah!
Then she pulls back a little.
"She's...not ready yet? For in person meeting type things. But I told her..." She wrings her hands. "She asked if I could relay messages in the meantime and I told her I would."
She waves her hands!
"There'll be delays, though! There's no reception down there, and I wanna cuddle Mamo-chan lots and lots. But when I got out and get food! And other stuff!"
Kyouko laughs, and hugs Usagi again as the girl comes back in for another. She smiles, her usual lopsided thing, as Usagi pulls back from her again. "Yeah.. well. I understand. She's gotta lot of stuff to work through. But.. reading that, I think she'll do it. And.." Gosh, she suddenly looks almost bashful, turning her eyes away. "She said she wants to see me again." It's clear this makes Kyouko happy.
She shakes her head slightly as she looks back at Usagi. "Seriously, no worries, hon. Mamoru should absolutely be your priority, and tell him I said I owe him a beer sometime soon. He may be your boyfriend, but he's my bud too and I've missed the hell out of him." She smiles. "Make sure he gets better quick, alright? For all of us."
An excited squee and clap! And then...because she's been so good until now, she allows herself a quiet, but still audible: "Hue hue hue!"
And a devious look!
And then her eyes widen! "I know you are! I'm not hogging him, promise! And he wants to see people, it's just...!" She trails off before taking Kyouko's hands in hers! "When he's ready, I'll let you know as soon as possible, okay?"
Kyouko shakes her head slightly, that lopsided smile still in place. "I ain't accusing you of hogging him, hon. You have a right if anybody does, I ain't gonna dispute that. Take your time. Just you let me know when he can have visitors. But don't worry.. I can wait."
She pauses, then glances around. "I don't have anything to write with, but.. will you tell Sayaka something for me?" SHe sucks in a breath, and her cheeks color, finding it a bit embarassing to be saying this to Usagi (though not as much as if she were saying it directly to Sayaka!). "Tell her I said I got her letter, and that I miss her too. Tell her I'll be waiting when she decides it's time. And tell her that if she gets herself killed I'll never forgive her." She nods her head firmly at the last.
A firm nod! "Okay!"
Her eyes move back and forth, trying to commit the words to memory. "Got it!" Then, without taking her eyes on Kyouko, she pulls out her notebook and bunny pen. And her expression doesn't change. "Just in case, can you write it down?"
Kyouko gives the other girl a look as she pulls out the notebook. "Seriously, hon? It ain't even three sentances." She shakes her head a bit, but then grins, taking the notebook and pen. She eyes the pen for a moment as if to be like 'really', but then shrugs and jots down the three simple lines. She draws a little heart at the end! Then she gives it back.
"There, okay?" She laughs softly. "Thanks hon. Really. For everything."
Usagi tips up her nose. "Well, important words have to be remembered!" Another devious glint! "And now she'll have something to read over and over, too, just like you do. Mweeheehee!"
Then she sticks out her tongue! "My bunny pen is amazing!"
Then she's smiling! Yay! Another hug for Kyouko! "You're welcome! Hey, you want food? I'm picking something up, but I could totally use a bite between here and there."
Kyouko shrugs her shoulders, though she's still blushing just a little bit at how overbearing Usagi can be.. but in a good way. Sometimes she needs somebody to push her a little bit. She nods her head at the mention of food. "I'm starvin'. Sounds good. Lead on, hon." She says, before tucking her hands back in her pockets to follow the other girl.
Usagi's not overbearing! She's just...yeah, that actually works.
She gives a giggle as she loops her arm through Kyouko's, dragging her toward FOOD!
