The Confluence

Something strange is behind a locked door in a Tokyo subway station, and some people investigate.

Tokyo is a city rife with urban legends. The Japanese love their creepy legends, whether its the ubiquitous 'Seven Wonders' of any given school or the various creepy spirits said to linger in all sorts of places across the land. Sometimes, for those in the know of the more magical persuasion, it can be hard to tell what to take seriously- are the rumors of a 'haunted' subway station just that, or might there be something more real (and more dangerous) to the rumblings?

Most cases like this can probably be dismissed as people gossiping. Sometimes, though, something comes up which bears investigating. Over the past few weeks, more and more people have begun talking about the 'haunting' of Takebashi Station, an otherwise nondescript subway stop on the labyrinthine Tokyo Metro system. At first it was just a few internet posts, but over the course of those few weeks, it seems to be the top story on most 'supernatural Tokyo' type websites, and has worked its way into the gossip of teens at school and even salarypeople at work. Something weird is going on at Takebashi Station.

Nobody's been attacked, or anything like that. No energy drainings or people falling in front of trains. But there's more and more stories of weird feelings. Of reality seeming to become distorted and unstable for people innocently wandering through the station, only to return to normal when they exit. Of strange visions of monsters that vanish before the person is really sure what they are seeing, and of a woman clad all in white that people are starting to call 'the ghost of Takebashi'.

There could definitely be something more to this than rumors.
Kazuo Takeba 2018-09-23 21:07:15 98169
Ghosts have come to Kazuo's attention lately. Well. Spirits that insist firmly they are not ghosts, but that's usually a distinction that matters only to the spirit in question. Eidolon in question. Whatever. That's what caught his attention first. Rumors of reality seeming to become distorted and unstable ... those are what actually brought him to take the time to come down and take a look. If he's lucky, it might be something related to an old hobby of his that's been in sad disuse the last couple of years.

If he's not lucky, it might be something related to someone else's current hobby.

If he's really not lucky, it might be Takashi's. Because adding interpersonal complications to weaknesses in the fabric of the universe is just what everyone needs.

Either way -- for all his access to teleportation powers, Kazuo's been using the Tokyo subway on a regular basis from back when he was scoping out Infinity. There's nothing unusual in his going through any particular station. Really.

He is, granted, trying a little harder than usual not to accidentally start any trouble. His civilian form can perceive a little more than most humans, but otherwise it's close to powerless. And his ability to change to something stronger is still more than a little broken. But he's only here to see whether he picks up any hints of strangeness. Maybe he can actually succeed in keeping his head down.
Fate T. Waldia 2018-09-23 21:21:11 98170
Fate T. Waldia, while not being stuck in another world for twoish years, still had reason to be weary of why the portal shut and cut her off from dear friends. She doesn't want that to happen again. Runealy most certainly probably doesn't also want that to happen- she would think so. She can't actually speak for her sister. REGUARDLESS!

She has heard stories of ghosts on the subway. It does not occur to her that this is some silly teenage myth. But she also understands such myths can be rooted in horrible magical reality.

She's taken Gaofelle and Hinote with her to go hunting, because maybe ghosts are to blame for the odd portal activity.

Okay maybe she also wanted to go out with her friends but that was a secondary goal! Aha!

Fate T. Waldia looks back to her friends. "We should stick together for now. I heard reports of strange ghost sightings and a woman in white." she says just slightly conspiratorily to the other two. "Let's be cautious." she says stoticly.
Miho Kagami 2018-09-23 21:24:37 98171
Miho knows supernatural shenanigans when she encounters them, and in this rumor? She smells a rat.

One advantage of her Life Blessing, which constantly protected her from her Death Curse even before she became a magical girl, is that she can still sense dark energy. On the other hand, she also has a relatively meager budget, so she can't afford to go on too many subway trips. Right now, she's just scoping out the station, loitering around casually as she tries to see if she can sense anything particularly weak against ... well, herself.

She perks up slightly as she sees Kazuo. Well, there's a familiar face! Slowly and casually, she starts making her way towards him. Maybe they can compare notes. (... She doesn't really have any notes of her own yet.) She pauses when she hears Fate's voice, however, and turns and gives her a wave and a smile.
Gaofele Doiru 2018-09-23 21:29:57 98172
It's been quite a while since Gaofele last wandered the streets of Tokyo with a Waldian princess while on the lookout for trouble, but patrolling habits are quick to return.

(Admittedly, it was with Rune instead of Fate, and they were patrolling while henshined back then, but the concept still holds.)

"The part that has me the most concerned are the rumors of warped reality," he remarks. "There's not a lot of things that I know that can do that, and none of them are good."

The forester nods in the direction of Miho. "Friend of yours?" he asks Fate.
Hinote Kagari 2018-09-23 21:30:27 98173
Hinote Kagari was asked to accompany Fate on a hunch into a subway. He was happy to oblige, the boy dressing somewhat casually which meant he was still somehow overdressed. A white, short sleeved button up shirt, a tie, a red vest with golden buttons buttoned up about halfway and dress pants.

"I don't think 'ghosts' are to blame for the corridor problems and all." he says. "But it's still worth checking a rumor out since it means something else awful could be afoot." he says.

"What do you think Gaofelle?" he asks, as he looks ahead.

Kazuo looks familiar enough, but he also hasn't seen him in a while. Someone waves at Fate with a smile, he leans down. "Friend of yours?" he asks.

Then he suddenly shoots up at Gaofele "Owe me a coke!" Jinx?
Hana Shiroi 2018-09-23 21:37:38 98174
Takebashi Station is nothing special. Unlike many of the larger hub-stations like Tokyo Central or Shinjuku, its just one more stop on the network- nothing more than a few platforms connected to the streets above by some tunnels, stairs and escalators. Tokyo has a lot of subways though, something like 20 different lines, many of which intersect, and so the result is that many stations are quite a ways underground, and the tunnels down from the street can be quite lengthy. Such is the case with Takebashi. It takes a good five minutes of walking underground to actually reach an exit once you depart the train platform, and most of that way is nothing but bare tile or concrete walls, all well-lit and clean, but industrial and featureless.

For those of the magical persuasion, it's easy to tell that something isn't right upon entering the station. There's just this feeling of wrongness that is definitely not made up by any rumors. For those familiar with it, it bears a strong resemblance to the feeling of a Witch labyrinth, but is not quite the same.

At first, it may be difficult to pinpoint the source of the odd, distorted feeling, but a little purposeful wandering will reveal that its strongest in one particular stretch of tunnel. A stretch of tunnel that happens to contain a locked service door, which presumably leads to the areas for inspecting and maintaining the infrastructure of the station, and which are off-limits to the public.
Kazuo Takeba 2018-09-23 21:46:27 98175
People making their way toward other people become far easier to notice when they start to congregate around a problem. Kazuo proves that he is in fact Kazuo by pausing and propping himself casually against a wall nearish that locked service door, scanning the crowd briefly as he holds it up. Absently, he takes out a cellphone and thumbs out a text. When anything reminds someone of a Witch labyrinth, it's a good idea to warn one's cohort. If only because otherwise one stands at risk of revenge pranks for not telling them what one was doing. He regards Miho; nods to her, solemn. The other trio get a more overtly casual glance. Right up till that glance lands on Fate, when his eyebrows twitch upward and he adds a second nod.
Fate T. Waldia 2018-09-23 22:18:17 98176
Fate T. Waldia looks back to the others, as she looks back to Miho and waves. "That's Miho-san. She gave me some advice recently in regards to Nanoha Takamachi." she says. She looks to Kazuo and gives a nod back to him. She never got that man's name. But she knows he accompined the tuxed individual that was there during the Garden of Time incident.

"This feels familiar. But I can't place it." she says as she walks towards Miho, and asks. "Are you here for the same reasons we are, perhaps?" she asks the two as she approaches.

"Miho-san, this is Gaofelle Doiru and Hinote Kagari. They are friends and helping me investigate whatever is going on here and it's potential connection to something else. Maybe. I'm not sure. It's quite a hunch." she says with a nod.
Miho Kagami 2018-09-23 22:25:15 98177
Miho nods back to Kazuo, and resumes walking over to him. "Hey, Takeba-san, Fate-san," she says; her voice is a bit scratchy and androgynous. She bows to Gaofele and Hinote in turn. "Pleased to meet you both! This is Kazuo Takeba-san, he's a friend of Mamoru-kun."

She looks around, and hmms. "I heard the rumors about a 'Ghost of Takebashi' and the weirdness going on here, and smelled a rat. Actually coming here ... let's just say it didn't improve my feelings any." She looks up at Kazuo, then back to Fate. "Do any of you recognize this weird feeling at all?"
Gaofele Doiru 2018-09-23 22:32:32 98178
"Well met, Miho-san, Takeba-san," Gao nods. There's a brief flash of a wry smile at the mention of Mamoru as the forester recalls a certain lemon-flavored mishap, but it fades as fast as it appears.

Especially when asked about the sensation. "Like a Witch's Labyrinth, but not quite," he remarks, eyeing the door warily. "Which means this was definitely important to investigate, because we certainly don't want one of those growing to full strength."
Hinote Kagari 2018-09-23 22:34:46 98179
"Witch Labyrinth. Sort of." says Hinote right off the bat. He's been in enough of them to know this feeling, helped fight lots of them and such. "Down there somewhere." he says motioning to the tunnel. I dunno. It's people being spooked but not... missing? Right?" he asks.

"That's odd. Don't witches usually aim to kill?" he asks with a furrowed brow as he looks over to Gaofelle then back to Fate.

He gives Miho a wry smirk. "I know who Kazuo-san is." he looks at Kazuo.

"We're sorry we haven't dropped by yet to say hello. We had the matter with the princess here...." he motions. "-and finishing up something that should had finished a long time ago." he says.

"Right. It's a long story, but we basically got stuck on the other side of the Waldian portal and we don't know /why/." he says. "We heard about reality warping events here and thought they might be related." he says.

"Even if not. If there's anything witchlike here, that's a problem."
Kazuo Takeba 2018-09-23 22:38:51 98180
"Ah," Kazuo says, when Fate makes introductions; and he bows slightly to Gaofele and Hinote both. "My apologies for not recognizing you at once. I can only plead that it's been a little time." At least the memory has not been pulled out of his brain and turned into candy, which given his last meeting with Gaofele was actually on the list of possibilities. Or, given his last meeting with Hinote, ripped out by a vengeful nightmare monster.

"People who see a Witch generally don't return to tell about it, yes," he agrees. "Nor do Witches generally appear nearly so human as the rumors describe. There is one outlier active in the city, though, and some of the rules may not be working as usual. Alternatively, it may only be something related, or contaminated. But ... it doesn't feel like a simple case of a weak point between worlds, no."

He glances at the door. Turns and tests the handle, carefully. "Are any of you any good with locks?"
Fate T. Waldia 2018-09-23 22:46:58 98181
Fate T. Waldia lifts her hand and Bardiche forms in her hand from it's small trinket form- and it immediatly switches to scythe form. "Stand back." she says. < Get Set! > spouts Bardiche as there's a yellow clash of lightning as Fate T. Waldia dons her Barrier Jacket and then uncermoniously....

Just kind of slashes upwards into the cervice of the door wherein the lock should jolt down in. Or down the middle if it's a double door.

"That should do it." she says stoically. Bardiche is not a lock pick. Bardiche is a scythe and a polearm, currently. Fate worked with the tools she had, obviously.
Hana Shiroi 2018-09-23 22:51:18 98182
The door is indeed a single door, and the energy scythe has no problem slashing through the bolt which holds it closed. There do not appear to be anything in the way of magical defenses, and once that restraining bolt is cut, the door simply swings outward, loose on its hinges.

The strange, distorted-reality feeling is much worse behind the door. It flows outwards, like cold air when you open a freezer, seeming to make the walls of the tunnel shiver out of the corner of one's eye.

The hallway on the other side of the door is dark, the only thing visible the top of a staircase leading down to one of the lower levels. Other than the feeling flowing out of it, there's nothing really to see from up here. But there's definitely something down there.
Miho Kagami 2018-09-23 22:53:27 98183
Miho nods. "Oh, uh, my full name is Miho Kagami," she adds awkwardly. "... right. My other name is Life Mahou Joy, by the way. I can purify darkness, but my experience with Witches is ..." She shivers at the memory of Sailor Earth in her gigantic Archwitch form. "... limited. Locks, too, but ..."

And then Fate cuts the Gordian Knot. "... well, that works!" At the worse surge of distorted-feeling, she doesn't waste time, and thrusts her right arm into the air in the Saturday Night Fever pose. "Life Blessing, Wake Up!" Mint-green light swirls around her arm, becomes a column of light, and then Life Mahou Joy is there. "Okay," she says, and her clear and bright voice sounds very little like it did before. "Who goes in first?"
Gaofele Doiru 2018-09-23 23:06:55 98185
Gaofele Doiru blinks for a moment at Kazuo's reaction, then finally places a memory to the face. "And given how lively Tokyo can be, especially magically, it makes it feel even longer," he agrees.

Magic proves very adept at overcoming mundane obstacles, and the forester shivers at the waves of Labryinthine energy. "To protect the lands, I am Guardian Gao!" he intones as he slides the bracer onto his arm. There's a glow of green, somewhat darker than Miho's, and then Guardian Gao is standing there.

"I might be able to help illuminate the path," he remarks, summoning his bow. Taking aim down the corridor, he calls "Dandelion Shot!" and fires an arrow, which turns into a glowing meter-wide dandelion puffball that floats forward down the path. "Illumination and early warning," the forester grins.
Hinote Kagari 2018-09-23 23:07:01 98186
Hinote Kagari taps his Guardian Relic on his wrist, the ornate bracelet, as he calls out. "To Protect Justice, I am Guardian Hino!" as a roar of spinning flame engulfs his form, leaving him his his knightly, finery attire. He says. "I'll go in first unless anyone objects strongly." he says more seriously, as he hefts a hand to the hilt of his sword.

"I have enough experience in the past with witches. I'm sure everyone does here. But some more than others." he says a little tersely.

He'll move on to go ahead and move on first unless indeed, someone stops him or beats him to it.
Kazuo Takeba 2018-09-23 23:10:18 98187
Kazuo does not try to beat anyone to going first. There's a flicker of a glance for security cameras, just in case; but a moment later, having determined he doesn't need to contact any of the technical types and entreat assistance, he's quietly dealing with his own henshin. Very quietly, because his is ... not as quick as the others. Noticeably not. The electricity that crawls across his body crawls, uncomfortably slow. He'll catch up in a moment.
Hana Shiroi 2018-09-23 23:14:24 98188
There isn't much to see through the door, at least at first. It's a simple stone stairway leading down, pipes and conduits lining the walls and ceiling- obviously this is the tunnel used by workers who come to maintain the inner workings of the subway. But as one descends, the unreal feeling definitely gets worse. Unlike a Witch labyrinth though, there's no sense of being transported to another place. You can still see the stone walls and everything. But there's that odd shimmer, as if you're walking underwater, or through a dream. Like you might touch the wall and find your hand going right through it.

Nothing attacks or impedes progress. But eventually, the hallway opens up into a room. There's some lockers, some access panels- obviously some sort of maintenance room. It looks perfectly ordinary.

That is, except for the strange... thing in one corner. Stretching nearly floor to ceiling, it has the look of some kind of large cylindrical container or tube. You can't see inside it, the material is opaque, looking more like stone than glass or metal, but clearly not ordinary, as it is covered with fanciful, gothic, somewhat unsettling scrollwork and decorations. Or maybe runes? It's hrd to tell if they are decorative or functional.

What's not hard to tell is that this thing is the source of the distorted reality feeling. It emenates from it in nearly palpable waves, and there is a subtle glow coming from the tube part of the construction, faint sickly-greenish illumination which speaks of energy of some sort.
Fate T. Waldia 2018-09-23 23:24:49 98189
Fate T. Waldia nods to let Hino go first. She'll follow shortly behind. She looks around at the walls. There's an odd feeling, an odd effect but that's it thus far. No monsters. No roars. No hands bursting from the walls trying to take them inside the concrete.

Then they get to what looks like a break room? A gathering room with lockers? Maintence? She isn't sure. Maintence probably, the panels suggest.

She looks at the odd pillar... tube? Container? "I take it that is not standard Tokyo Transit Authority equipment." she says curtly.

"I wonder what it's doing. It's just sitting there. Making weird emissions." she says.
Miho Kagami 2018-09-23 23:33:04 98190
Life Mahou Joy simply rises off the ground and hovers down the hallway. "No, it is not," she agrees, floating up next to Fate. "... I'm honestly tempted to try to purify it, just to see if it's curse-like enough for my powers to be any use." She looks around cautiously. She's gotten really tense now, and it almost looks like she's on a hair-trigger. Her shadow starts to turns a darker shade of black, in a manner Kazuo might recognize from the morning after Miho's "sleepover" .... but then she takes a deep breath, and it goes back to normal. "Sorry, uh ... I'm good with support, but I'm not all that experienced with ... well, a lot of this."
Hinote Kagari 2018-09-23 23:40:42 98191
Hino moves down into the corridor and it's odd and weird and he almost wants to reach out and touch the wall to see what happens, but experience tells him that's always a bad idea. He keeps alert ahead of him until they get to the work room and there's this big tubular like device...? Being? Euclidian concept? Sitting there in the corner. he looks to Joy.

"Purification doesn't really work on witches." he says. "They're odd. The wrong kind of 'negativity'. or something I think." he says.

"At least Princess Runealy's magic doesn't really work on them like they do the demons and other similar beings." he says.

He does not draw his longsword out yet, though he does snap his finger with a spark and carries a small little flame between two fingers--- so he has something to throw out in case something bursts from the tube.

"Well it's posing a danger to this subway station, regardless." he says. "Of what it is." he says.

"I'd hate to be the first one to suggest 'light it on fire' but..." he trails off.
Gaofele Doiru 2018-09-23 23:46:37 98192
Guardian Gao cautiously eyes the cylinder. "Dandelion Shot," he repeats, adding a small cordon of glowing dandelion puffballs (these the size of soccer balls) around the tube. Just in case something tries to spring out at them.

He looks at the others. "Anybody have a Puella on speed-dial?" he asks. "Just in case."
Kazuo Takeba 2018-09-23 23:58:22 98193
"As the Guardian says," Kunzite says to Joy as he catches up. "If their nature were more susceptible to purification, our lives would be vastly easier." He does not explain what that nature is, nor why they might not be. That may be to save Joy's sanity from technical details, or may not. "I sent out word a moment ago; we'll see if it makes it to a Puella with some spare time. If not -- I can try to analyze the energy this thing generates. But that may be a very bad idea."
Hana Shiroi 2018-09-24 00:00:41 98194
The thing, whatever it is, just sits there. It makes no reaction to the magic summoned by Hinote and Gao, and does not change its demeanor in any perceptible way. It continues to emit that the uncomfortable feeling, and it continues to glow.
Naru Osaka 2018-09-24 00:03:13 98195
"Technically yes." Hyalite notes about puella on speed diel as she comes up behind the group who are considering the /thing/, nodding to Kunzite as she passes them. "She's at work, however, soo.." She loiters near where Kunzite is and goes digging for her sketchbook, just in case. "I.." She starts and then pauses. "I suspect it's residual. No proof, but it's more.. warping from ongoing exposure rather than current proximity is my guess."
Fate T. Waldia 2018-09-24 00:13:15 98196
Fate T. Waldia looks to Hino, and takes his advisement under consideration, she looks to Gao and considers him a moment, before she looks back towards the tube. "We can't leave this here. Either it's neutralized or destroyed before we leave here." she says in a very matter of fact tone. "It's affecting people, if very little right now, that could change. This could also be a node in a network of these things." she says.

"For all we know." she says as she looks back towards the tube. "You have ten seconds to stop me." she says, as she moves. "If you don't wish me to destroy this thing." she says.

When no one apparently does, she races forward, attempt to scythe slice into the tube to destory it, or otherwise make it as inert as she possibly can with physical force."
Hana Shiroi 2018-09-24 00:20:24 98197
Fate's sycthe slices through the cylinder easily. It does not appear designed to withstand any sort of direct attack. In fact, pretty much as soon as her attack lands, the whole thing... shatters. The tube part, anyway, as if it were made of glass, almost explodes outwards, as if whatever was inside was under pressure.

What was inside? More of that Witch-like energy. A lot of it. It rushes outward, freed by the shattering of the container, like water rushing out of a shattered aquarium tank. For long moments, the world seems to go mad, surrounding those in the room with darkness and swirling colors. A sense of vertigo sets in, as reality loses all frame of reference, and it's no longer possible to tell what is up and what is down, where the door is, where the walls are. Nothing makes sense, there's just that rushing of mad, swirling, chittering energy.

And just when it seems like everyone there must surely drown in the flood of it, it's gone. Released into the world, it dissipates upwards and outwards. This may have unintended effects, but for the moment, at least, the world returns to normal. The pieces of the.. machine? Arcane device? Whatever it was, lay broken on the floor, no longer glowing or emitting any feelings of weirdness. In fact, as near as anyone can tell, the whole station has reverted back to feeling positively mundane.
Miho Kagami 2018-09-24 00:27:02 98198
Joy nods to Hino and shrugs. "Guess we do this the old-fashioned way, then," she says, flipping her pale blue hair.

And then all hell breaks loose.

Miho lets out a loud yell and staggers back where she's hovering as she gets flooded with darkness. A blue heart-wand materializes in her left hand, and she tosses it into the air and catches it in her right. She swings it forward, bringing it to bear on ...

... nothing? "... What?"

Her shadow turned black during the confusion. "Aww, it's over? Dang it!" says Noroiko's voice.
Hinote Kagari 2018-09-24 00:35:57 98199
Guardian Hino watches as the princess smashes the tube and----

There's a rush of energy out of the tube and he 'nrgks!?' and draws his cape up over himself as all the witch-like energy rushes past he draws his sword at some point and gets ready to face!....

The horrible power of a broken weird magical device! The horror!? "Huh..." he says as she looks up and down and left and right. "The feeling has gone away." he says as he relaxes then there's a voice.

"I wonder what the goal of that was..." he says softly. "....Okay what's that voice." he says as he looks around suddenly.
Gaofele Doiru 2018-09-24 00:36:23 98200
The Dandelion Shots get pummeled by the surge of energy, much like rain on dandelion puffs. Gao likewise gets buffeted, although he does lean on his staff to help keep himself grounded (or at least as grounded as one can be in a flood of Labyrinthine energy).

After the deluge, the forester runs a hand through his <s>feathers</s> hair, then glances at the "soggy" and dimming remains of the Dandelion Shots before looking at everyone else. "Well, that was... not as directly bad as it could've been," he remarks. "Definitely in no hurry to repeat that, though."
Kazuo Takeba 2018-09-24 00:38:46 98201
Fate moves forward; Kunzite steps back. He does not bring up his shields. He does not even try. What he does do is reach, rather suddenly, for Hyalite's shoulder, trying to bring himself or at least his cape between her and the source of the flood.

The problem with floods is that they come at you from more directions than one; but it may perhaps blunt the impact a little ... or at least leave her an anchor to something resembling sanity more than color alone.

When it's stopped, when the flood's drained away, he lets out a long breath. "I propose," he says, voice a little thinner than usual but still steady, "that we take steps to keep the remains of that very far away from Riventon."
Naru Osaka 2018-09-24 00:46:24 98203
Hyalite steps back as Kunzite does, because hacking at things seems to be something one doesn't need to be up close for. "It's not specifically Hana's.. or at least doesn't quite feel the same as it does at her place." She comments to Kunizte as the energy washes over them all. "That.. that's not likely to just dissipate harmlessly, is it?"
Hana Shiroi 2018-09-24 00:55:41 98204
Did you ever hear the phrase 'speak of the devil, and she will appear?'

Mere moments after the wave of energy dissipates, and everything seems to return to normal... the feeling returns. Or... it's not exactly the same. The world seems to become hazy, vaugely unreal, but there's a slightly different 'flavor' to it. Less malice, perhaps, though it's hard to quantify such things.

But there is not much time to speculate on the reason for this, because it makes itself apparent quickly. A vertical slash of light tears through the stone wall near where the machine was, then opens, jagged-edged, like a rip in the face of reality. On the other side nothing can be seen but swirling, chaotic purple light.

And then a woman steps out of it, stepping from the tear and into the room as if through a doorway. She is a small, slender woman who appears to be in her twenties, and of Japanese descent, with long straight black hair. Her face is doll-like and so perfect as to stray into 'uncanny valley' territory, especially when one considers her eyes, the irises of which swirl with constant rainbow-colors, forever in motion. She is dressed all in white, pants and an almost military-looking jacket with a high collar. The expression on her face is dispassionate, though as her multi-colored eyes flick to the destroyed clyinder, the slightest frown plays across her features.

"I had supposed some ruffians to have broken my property," She says, her voice passive. Not emotionless, but rather bored-sounding, as if all of this is so very tiresome. "But I did not expect to see you here, Little Bird." This addressed to Naru. Her eyes flick to Kunzite, "Nor the handsome friend of the prince." A moment later, they fall on Hinote. "But the boy with the fire-sword.. yes. Not a surprise."

She gives the faintest of sighs. "I suppose I shouldn't have placed this one so near to foot traffic. A lesson I will take to heart in future. Though I must protest your solution to the issue. You could have just asked me to move it."
Fate T. Waldia 2018-09-24 01:12:43 98205
Fate T. Waldia keeps Bardiche raised. This woman seems familiar with Hino. She looks to Hino, then back to Hana. "Actually." she says. "I broke your property. Because it was a danger to the people here. You don't seem to have much care for people, I don't see why I should have much care for you at the moment, or whatever this... tube thing was." she says as if she was battling for the ice queen tone of voice awards.

--and somewhat failing or a change. She does keep a straight, displeased face though.

"I don't see why you'd show yourself after that, except to fight us. But it sounds like you don't care very much. So why don't you get this patronizing over with and leave the way you came."
Miho Kagami 2018-09-24 01:17:04 98206
Miho grumbles, wand-hand hanging at her side, and takes a few breaths to calm her nerves, her shadow going back to normal. "Sorry, that voice was this fox-monster who's sort of ... connected to this curse I have," she says to Hino. "She ... The curse is very sensitive to my emotions, and I guess I panicked a minute there."

She turns in midair to face Kunzite and Hyalite. "... yeah, y'know what, Zite-kun, that's the best idea I've heard all day." She pauses. "Who's Ha--?"

And then Joy blinks as the newcomer arrives. "Ah. That's Hana." Or at least, she guesses. She might just be jumping to conclusions, but ... a mention of someone associated with witch-energy, followed by the creator of that witch-energy artifact showing up? She raises her wand back up again -- not all the way, but up enough that she could bring it to bear on Hana in a pinch if she needed to. She give a subtle nod to Fate; she's following other peoples' lead for whether to actually attack.
Hinote Kagari 2018-09-24 01:27:21 98207
"Wait what the hell!?" says Hino, as he grips his cape and draws his sword back in front of him. "I guess me and Hotori-kun didn't kill you hard enough last time." he says. "-and I suppose you got out whatever dumb box at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark Akemi-san put your grief seed in." he says angrily.

He isn't making any attempt to leap forward and also light her on fire. It's REALLY tempting, but if Fate isn't attacking... or ordering him to attack then he probably should not attack.

"So what's the party line this time. End youma segregation? Wasn't that the last party line?" he asks, tone just short of dripping with malice.

Yeah he isn't happy. Nope, not even a little. Probably not okay. Probably wondering if Madison Perry also got out of her box now, too, Wondering what the hell happened in the past two years now for real.

Kunzite gives a polite bow of greeting to Hana. "Hyalite and I had just come to the conclusion that the thing did not have your energy signature," he observes aloud, his habitually neutral tones a contrast to Hinote's anger. "If you wish people to contact you politely when things of yours are causing trouble, it might work more agreeably for all concerned if you made it easier to identify them as yours."
Naru Osaka 2018-09-24 01:33:11 98209
"Hello Hana. It's been a while." Hyalite greets the woman cordially. "There was no indication that it was yours." She points out pragmatically, on the heels of Kunzite doing precisely that.

Guardian Gao continues to eye Hana. His posture isn't hostile, but it's easy to see that he is still cautious.

Just in case trouble does start.

Hana's multicolored eyes move to Fate, studying the petite princess with the scythe with that same impassive look, neither looking afraid or angry. "I was curious as to who was tampering with my Confluence." She says, simply. "I do not wish to fight. Unlike some.." And here her eyes move to Hino, making it clear who she is talking about, "I do not always resort to violence to solve my problems. The very fainted smirk touches her lips as she regards the Guardians. "Perhaps you should learn to seek other methods. It clearly did not serve you well last time, as you say."

She then looks at Kunzite and Hyalite, her smirk vanishing to be replaced with that very neutral expression again. "Is it so wrong to expect that when one places something behind a locked door, one does not expect it to be tampered with? One does not need to write one's name on one's bicycle before parking it on the street if they do not wish it stolen. Perhaps smashing down doors and recklessly destroying what you find on the other side is not, in the end, the polite way to resolve a situation."

She gives the faintest sigh, as if disappointed. "Such barbarism is all I can expect from you lot. I have long-since resigned myself to this. As I said.. I will accept the blame this time. I should have known better than to place this Confluence so near to a place of high traffic. Ah well. Even I must sometimes make mistakes."

She turns then, back to the rent in the air which remains open, and moves to step back through it. "In the end, it's of little consequence." She says, glancing over her shoulder. "After all.. I have plenty more of them." A small smile, and then she steps through the slice in the air, and it seals behind her, the stone returning to normal as if nothing had ever been there. A moment later, the strange unreality feeling vanishes again as well.
Fate T. Waldia 2018-09-24 02:04:30 98212
Fate T. Waldia grips tighter around Bardiche. "I've heard talk like yours before." she says quietly. She doesn't mention from who, or why it isn't important. No one here needs to be reminded right now Precia existed at all. "Claiming good intentions at the expense of others." she says quietly. "The reason people like my friends act like that are the reason you probably haven't hurt a lot of people yet." she says.

"I'm grateful for that." she says quietly, as the odd woman leaves. She frowns at the other two. "Don't listen to her. She speaks out of two mouths." she says as she looks to the remains of the device.

"It is probably a good idea to keep that from Riventon, yes. Might I suggest destroying it beyond futher recogniniton?" she asks as she leans down to take a chunk of it and examine it. "Mmph..." she has Bardiche makes a quick scan of the chunk before tossing it downwards back with the rest.
Kazuo Takeba 2018-09-24 02:08:45 98213
Kunzite shakes his head to Fate. "We can't afford to destroy it yet," he says quietly. "We need to figure out what it does. What she's doing. Whether it will become a threat, and if so, how much of one and when, and how to counter it. And, yes, whether destroying it created a different kind of threat. We will arrange whatever safeguards your people think are necessary to avoid it being misused. But the White Flower does not work on a small scale. We need to know what she's doing."
Miho Kagami 2018-09-24 02:11:53 98214
Joy nods. Okay, Hana confirmed. "Good grief," she mutters after Hana disappears. "You know, now I've met two people named 'Hana' who are these self-absorbed truculent jerks who just don't get the idea of not causing trouble for everyone around them." She pauses. "Also, was she a Witch? I was expecting something ... um ... bigger."

Not for the first time, Miho feels like she's way behind on the story. These people have oceans of history behind them, and she's just a newcomer, who only transformed for the first time barely two months ago.

She peers down at the remains of the ... thing as Fate scans it. "She called it a 'confluence'," she says. "Something ... was being brought together? And she mentioned there's more of them." She shakes her head. "I have a really bad feeling about all this."
Hinote Kagari 2018-09-24 02:17:07 98215
Hino scoffs. "Yeah still pulling that holier than thou, I can't do anything wrong except the thing that was affecting the perceptions and emotional state of an entire subway station which was clearly doing something wrong." he says as he sheathes his sword, finally. He looks to Kunzite and nods.

"Right. If she was making us aware there was more, there's a reason for it. No one shows a card in their hand unless they think they can win the game in the end." he says grimly.

He looks to Joy. "Hana 'The White Flower' Shiori is a strange witch, not atypical of them. Most of them are horrifying, Euclidian nightmares." he says as steady as he can.

"Right well. What should I got find some garbage bags?" he asks, about the mess. "To bring it somewhere else?" Sorry. Not.. my best thing here. Taking samples and all.
Gaofele Doiru 2018-09-24 02:27:47 98216
Guardian Gao scratches his chin thoughtfully. "I miiight be able to improvise something," he muses, then uses his staff to form small, slow bursts of plants to 'sweep' the debris into a small pile. Next, he takes a few steps back, then focuses extra hard to form a single LARGE leaf.

"Not sure how long this will last, but it should last long enough for us to get a mundane bag to put it in," the forester remarks as he scoops up the shards with the leaf and folds it around them, not unlike a large piece of vegetative 'leather'.
Fate T. Waldia 2018-09-24 02:34:28 98217
Fate takes a deep breath. "I can't really read these things. But it's made out of stone and there's magical energy traces." she says. There is an awkward silence from her as she seems to think about the things said. "Hinote-kun." she says. "Barring Runealy's objection..." because she's the overruling princess. "...I want you working with the others here. You seem to have the most experience with this specific situation. Gaofelle-kun, if you know things, too, I'd appreciate you helping aswell." she says.

"I think that woman rubbed me the wrong way." she says quietly. "But I'm not going to sit by and do nothing again." she says more quiet. She shifts. "I'm going to go find Runealy after this." not for anything serious like. She just wants sister time after well. that.
Kazuo Takeba 2018-09-24 02:42:10 98218
"It's possible we may be able to find a technologist," necromancer, diviner, technologist, these are all kinds of magic, aren't they?, "who can safely assist in analyzing it. And there are people who are reasonable hands at reassembling pieces." Mostly. Kunzite says nothing about the usual fates of Jadeite's toasters. "Still. I'll be unsurprised if this proves to be more art than science." He inclines his head to Gao. "Thank you for your improvisation. I'll find somewhere we can store it and keep watch, that the two of you can have access to."
