No Title Set

Sora is still wearing her athletic outfit, having just finished her sportsball practice. She's leaning against a tree, writing in a weird book. It looks ancient, and for some reason there's silver chains wrapped around it. The way she does it, it's obviously normal for her to do so; and she doesn't give it much of a thought.

Nearby, Ami walks toward the gates after chess club. She spots Sora, and most importantly the book she's writing in. She looks interested as she slows down and gets nearer, but seems loath to actually interrupt the other girl.

Sora looks up when she notices Ami, "Hey, Mizuno-sempai... right?" She greets, aware of her fellow smart students, even if she doesn't know them in any meaningful sense. She writes down something else and pauses slightly, then nods before writing down another thing.

"Right. And you're..." Ami tilts her head. "I'm sorry, I'm bad about knowing underclassmen," she apologizes, sounding sincere. "May I sit with you? It's a beautiful afternoon. Although, you're journaling, maybe I shouldn't interrupt you..."

"It's fine. Sora Hisakata. You may have seen the ads?" Sora typically has flyers and such scattered around school to advertise her tutoring services. She looks at her book and shrugs, closing it and pulling the chains taut, putting it into her backpack. "Feel free. Do you journal?"

"I have, and it's nice to put a face to the name," Ami says, moving to sit next to Sora but not immediately so, keeping a polite distance. "And no, but I was considering starting. That journal's beautiful. I love the aesthetic of it, but I would prefer something blue." Of course she would. All of her school accessories are blue in some shade or another. "It's nice to actually meet you," she adds after a moment, awkward as she is.

"It's not really a journal as such, but I suppose it's close enough." Sora answers, shrugging faintly, looking up to the sky. "You like blue, huh?" She observes, clearly just connecting dots out loud. "Likewise." She gets out an energy drink and takes a sip, "Do you know what university you're going to yet?"

"Oh, yes." Ami was accepted to many. She names a prestigious one with a good medical school here in Tokyo. "I had planned on going to Germany, but I think staying here is better in the long run." She smiles shyly over at Sora. "Do you have a favorite shade of blue? I like medium and light blues best."

"I'm not sure if it counts as blue, but I do like a nice electric indigo." Sora answers, taking a sip from her energy drink. "And that's a good university. I don't know where I'll go yet, I do know what I want to do after university, though." She considers, "Germany is pretty far away, I don't know if I could stand being away from home for that long."

"It's why I couldn't go," Ami says. "I love Tokyo, and my friends, too much to leave them." Her smile's a little sad, though. Anyway. "I would count electric indigo as blue." She shrugs. "I want to be a doctor. What do you want to do after university?"

"I'd like to become a part-time science teacher." Sora answers with the utmost confidence of her future. "I like tutoring, and I think I'd be good at teaching. Physics and chemistry are my favourite subjects, so..." She shrugs, "It's not glamorous, but I think it'll work for me."

Ami smiles, her eyes bright. "Glamorous, no, but honorable. That's important!" the bluenette declares. "We always need more teachers. But why only part-time?"

"Family reasons." Sora answers without hesitation, "And yeah, teaching is important." She takes another sip, thinking. "So what kind of doctor do you want to be, or have you not thought that far?"

Without looking too embarrassed, Ami says, "I understand, I think. And yeah, teaching is what makes it so society functions, I think." Then the bluenette smiles softly. "A surgeon, like my mom."

"Digging around with your hands in other people's guts, huh? I don't think I could do that." Sora considers out loud, clearly not having a very glamourous impression of surgery. "It's important work, though, and it pays well. So it's a good idea if you can do it."

Ami shurgs. "I don't care about the money. I mostly care about helping people. Making them feel better. Saving lives." She smiles. "But it isn't glamorous, true."

"The money's a nice bonus, though, isn't it?" Sora answers easily. "Good to not be doing it for the money, though. Helping people is good, saving lives is hard work. It's easier to take them." The ease with which she says that could be shocking. "Probably a better idea to save lives, though."

Ami blinks at Sora for a moment before shrugging. "It's always easier to take the one-moment path. The path that's harder is usually more rewarding," she says.

"Yeah, you're right." Sora shrugs, though there's a mild frown, as though she's upset at something and trying to hide it. "Your mother must be quite busy, if she's a surgeon."

Ami blinks again. "Are you okay?" she asks, quietly. "What? Oh, yes. My mother does keep very busy."

"Don't worry about it." Sora answers Ami. "Must be rough... then again, most families don't live like mine; so maybe it's not?"

Ami shrugs. "To each their own." But she peers with concern at Sora.

Recognizing the concern, Sora gets up. "I probably ought to be going home." She smiles, "See you around, maybe?" She offers cheerfully.

Ami blinks at the abruptness of Sora's exit, but then smiles. "Sure! I hope to see you again soon. Take care!" she says, and reaches into her book bag for something to read.
