Daisuke Hanasuke has agreed to pick up Ami Mizuno and take her to a Halloween party at Seiyou. If Ami didn't want to go, she probably shouldn't had mentioned it! But she did so now she's going to a party and oh lord she had to have Makoto come and rescue her because she bought a god awful costume.
Luckily, Makoto is probably some sort of fabric wizard and whatever Ami is costumed as probably looks more hilarously better than whatever she had starting off.
Daisuke is a vampire. This means a classic tux-like affair and a cape and also prostetic fangs. He does a good job being passable at this- the cape is folded up in the back and his prostetic fangs over it. So right now he just looks like he's going to party in a fancy suit until the other stuff comes on
Daisuke's car pulls up to Crystal Seminar. It's a three year old model convertible- looking like a mid-grade vehicle with a pop up top- it is not a sports car. It is a black color- as Daisuke finds this easier to clean than a lighter color.
Daisuke steps out of the car and peeks around and places hands his pockets as he waits around politely- it's around the time Ami said she'd meet him here. He's just a bit early, so he wasn't keeping her waiting. If she takes too long, he does send out a proding text.
He's kinda hoping Ami isn't huddled somewhere hiding over this. He'd much rather cancel than make someone's who's helped him a lot the past few days uncomfortable.
When Daisuke get out of his car, Snow White steps out from the awning of the cram school's main entrance. "Hello, Daisu-kun," Ami says with a smile as she approaches him.
The dress is custom made, with a wide yellow skirt, blue vest and red-and-blue cap sleeves. She has a red bow in her hair, and a matching cloak about her shoulders. In her hands, Ami carries a basket of red apples.
Makoto does good work.
Ami takes slow steps towards his car, careful not to let her skirt drag on the ground, then dips into half of a curtsey when she draws near him. Her usual trio of blue earings have been replaced with golden studs, for the occasion. "What do you think?"
Daisuke Hansuke smiles at the costume. "Oh! I see-- well! If I had known I'd------" he seems to trail off. Dressed as a prince charming? No... something sorta bites at him in the back of his head of some strange reason. He just sort of shakes his head and laugh a bit. "Nevermind. It's a lovely costume, Ami-chan." he says. He wonders where it came from. It seems handmade and not purchased. He wonders if Ami-chan made it himself, but he doesn't ask- or assume. He might ask later.
Daisuke smiles. "Here, lemme put that in the back for you." he says offering his hands out. The top is up because it's October and too chilly to be riding with the top down in the waning evening.
"I guess I am a fancy vampire." he says. He looks at his watch. "Hrm. Is there anywhere you wanted to stop along the way? Hungry? Thirsty?" he asks. "I think we have some time before the party." he says.
"Right?"
Surely there's still SOME setting up going, right?
Ami blushes a little at the compliment of her costume, but she offers him the basket nonetheless. "It's heavy," is that a complaint or a warning?
She also reaches up and undoes the clasps on her cloak, then folds it up carefully and sets it atop the basket. "I am a little hungry," she admits. "I was busy playing chess when I should have had lunch, and then I had to go put on the makeup and this dress. That was a lot of effort. I haven't eaten since breakfast."
Daisuke Hansuke helps Ami along and opens the front passenger door for her. When she gets in. He shuts it. He gets into the drivers side and sits down and places his hands on the wheel. "Hrmmmm...." he says. "Junk or Not Junk?" he asks to Ami pleasently.
Oh-- right. Sometimes he forgets he's not talking with one of his club members when he drives people around. "I mean. Do you wanna get the world's most artery clogging burgers, or go find a healthier joint?" he smiles.
"Not that burgers are horrible or anything. Eh. Rich people worry about a lot of silly things and that's a lot of uh. Prettttty much everyone I know at Verone." he says with a soft nod.
"I like cheeseburgers," Ami is quick to pipe in with a smile. "They're delicious. I think it's because we have evolved to like the tasty of fatty foods, but whatever it is .." she trails off, then blushes a little. "Sorry. Burgers sound great."
Daisuke Hansuke is starting the car when he hears 'cheeseburgers'. He is listening to Ami- and he doesn't seem bored or is trying to drone out her words. He smiles. "Don't feel bad about that." he says. "I like hearing intresting things." he insists. "I know most people just act like it flies over thier head..." he says. "And admittedly, sure. A LOT does but that doesn't mean you didn't learn anything." he says gently as he talks.
"Then burgers!" he says. He pulls up and towards Mitakihara- to cut through into Pikarighako later when it's party time- Mitakihara is where all the food is. He pauses a moment.
"So... if I can ask something profound I guess. Do you have dreams too?" he asks. "I mean... yeah." he asks.
Ami spends her time watching the scenery rather than investigating Daisuke or his car. She seems fascinated at just enjoying the trip; almost like cars are a novelty to her. But then, living in Tokyo, she probably spends most of her time on busses or trains.
"Hm?" she asks of his 'profound' question, pulling her attention from the scenery. Ami blinks at his question, then shakes her head. "No, I don't think so. Not like you've described," she says quietly. "I mean, I do have dreams, and sometimes I wonder if they're important, but they're not ... often. And I don't think they're very important. I'm sorry." She almost sounds as if she's worried she's failed him, in some way.
Daisuke Hansuke pulls into a burger joint. It's near the waterfront. Close to the beach and harborfront. Did he take a wrong turn? He was heading to Mitakihara right? Maybe he just felt like driving out a little further. He smiles.
"Sorry for what? For my freaky dreams?" he asks with a tsk. He opens his door, steps out and open's Ami's door--unless if she moves first.
"It's fine if you don't. It's not like I can tell you about the dreams I have. They so vauge that I can't even really describe what's happening. It's more... like. Have you ever seen an abstract piece of art... and it invoked a feeling? It's kind of like that." he says. He opens the door to the burger joint. Other people are here! Some are in costume- probably party hopping. Some are not. It's a midrange joint. Not 'Fast Food' but not quite the ritz. Daisuke seems to have been here before if Ami has not- but it's location close to the beach probably suggests Ami's been at least by here in passing if not a customer herself.
He leans down to Ami a moment. "Want me to order for us, or want to come up to the counter with me?" he asks.
Ami waits for him to open the door, blushing a little at some private thought. She emerges, then glances back in the back at her cape. After a moment, she decides it's not necessary, and follows him towards the burger joint.
"This place is fancy," notes Ami with faint amusement. "I'll have whatever you do," she says agreeably, eyes wide as she considers all the many costumes. While he orders food, Ami finds a table to sit at, and pulls her cell phone out of a hidden pocket Makoto sewed into her outfit.
Daisuke Hansuke lets Ami to go find a seat. He waits in the small line and places and order. He steps to the side and folds his arms one over the other and waits politely. The order gets pulled out and Daisuke grabs the tray. He walks back over and places it down. Pretty much two cheeseburgers. There's letteuce and onion, tomato- also two fanficul orange cups of french fries. There's two drinks. They're probably cola of some variety.
Ami has her phone out. He doesn't seem to find this rude. This is a fancy place but it's casual. Others are doing the same. "Nothing special~" he insists at the food.
He glances at the people around him. "I wonder how many parties are going down....." he says. "I bet the theme park is having some sort of special event maybe..." he murmurs as he taps his chin.
"I was surprised Seishou didn't have a party," Ami notes thoughtfully. "Did Verone have one?" she asks him curiously. She tucks her phone back in the pocket, then smiles at the food. "Oh my gosh, I'm so hungry," she admits, then starts fixing her burger.
"Actually the theme park probably has something really well done," Ami agrees as she starts in on the burger. Careful not to speak with her mouth full, she notes, "It's probably super busy, though."
Daisuke Hansuke says. "I bet it's a spooky haunted house attraction." he says. And not at all an energy draining plot kind or something. Harmless. Probably. Maybe.
"Yes, if you count a bunch of non-costumed people sitting in a hall with food and talking and gossip and fancy dancing like every other party they've had a 'Halloween Party', sure." he says. Yeah he's not a fan of Verone's ideas of fancy parties or Verone parties in general.
"I bet the beach is probably not as busy. Due to the weather and well. Evening." he says.
Ami blinks at Daisuke's description of a 'Verone Halloween Party'. "You mean they don't dress up?" she asks him, then smiles amusedly. "Do they just, say, put on a tuxedo and pretend that makes them in a costume?" she asks.
She glances at his outfit, but says nothing. Instead, she notes, "The beach probably is fairly empty. It's too cold for tourists, and still wet from yesterday."
Daisuke Hansuke does catch the glance at his outfit. It's not quite a tuxedo. It's more of a suit of some sort. It isn't fancy. But it works for 'fancy vampire'. It's high end costume variety.
He head tilts. "Kind of." he says. "And you know, fancy dresses too." he says.
He taps his chin. "I guess that's why I like the other schools parties- I mean. Infinity even has fun with thier parties. Verone is just old money and status quo a lot of the time." he admits sadly.
He is eating. He's a little faster at it. "Feel better after some food?" he asks.
"Mmm," Ami agrees quietly to the question. "I should have eaten lunch," she apolgoizes, but enjoys the meal anyways. "Oh, how much was it? I should pay for mine," she says, suddenly realizing what she's done. "Also ..." she notes, then grins, "You're going to a party just dressed in a suit. At least until you put the teeth and cape on. I feel a little bit silly since I'm in costume and you aren't, but that's okay."
Daisuke Hansuke tsks. "How do you expect me to eat with fake fanglies?" he asks, leaning his head on his hands a moment. He's finished. "Well. I already paid. So there. BUT if you want to repay me, let's go for a walk. And also. I will put the rest of my costume on! But don't worry----"
"You don't need to carry that ridicolous bushel of apples~" he says.
Ami giggles at the mention of the fangs. "I don't," she says, "but the idea was amusing, since you seemed so perjorative of the way Verone does its parties." She finishes her own meal--not a bite left on the plate--then considers his idea. "I thought we were going to the party at Seiyou," she says amusedly, then slides out of the booth. "Let me use the restroom, and then I think a walk would be lovely."
Daisuke Hansuke Let's Ami go do that. He cleans up the area and makes sure the table's clean. Yes. People are paid to do this for him. No, he does not care. It is Halloween and this is what he is doing with his time. "We'll try to make it later. Right now. Beach. It's right there." he insists.
He waits near the front door politely.
Ami emerges a few moments later with her cell phone in hand. She smiles at Daisuke a little, but her cheeks are flushed. "Beach?" she asks of him, then smiles. "I do love the beach. I think I'd like to wear my cape, though; it will be cold and my arms are bare. The cape will at least help a little."
Daisuke Hansuke gently steps out with Ami and walks to the car and opens the back seat. He takes off the main jacket of his costume and offers it to Ami. "Here." he says. The undershirt is bright red- but is long sleeved, he'll be okay. He does get her cape. "Don't be cold." he says.
He grabs his own cape and puts it on. Also. His fanglies. Yes. This is good. He motions past the store- since there's a path down to the beach area- that the burger stand is practically on. "Do you mind or...?" he asks. "This wasn't my intention to end here I guess." he does admit sheepishly. "But I dunno if I'm going to have that much fun at the party myself." he admits.
Ami blushes as he offers his coat. She takes it gingerly, and slips into it, even as she asks, "But won't you be cold?" It's like she has no idea how to avoid the questions that shouldn't be asked.
"No, it's fine," Ami says of the beach. "I really enjoy the beach; even if we can't see it, just the smell of the ocean makes me happy. I really didn't want to go to the party, either," she admits., "I just ... wanted to see you again." Wait, what? Is that true? Ami blushes furiously and finishes putting his jacket on, then steps away quickly towards the path. He'll have to catch up!
Daisuke Hansuke shakes his head. "Not really. Long sleeved shirt. And it isn't freezing yet. Also. Cape." he motions with a grin--but with fangs!
He walks down the path- and catches up fast enough. He keeps his hands at his side--- he doesn't have that problem where someone doesn't know what to do with thier hands sometimes.
Though what Ami says causes him to blush- very faintly. To see him again?
"I like the beach at night. It's relaxing. I'm glad Verone is close to it, at least." he says. He closes his eyes. Which is a bad idea when one is walking so he reopens them. "So...you mentioned... a loose affiliation of magical people? How...many are we talking here? So far all I know is.. You. Sailor Moon, Tuxedo Kamen and---um. That jerk across the way during that whole Infinity mess." he says.
Ami allows herself to enjoy the silence while he closes his eyes. She huddles into his jacket, then sniffs the collar briefly before pretending like she didn't. When the conversation resumes, she glances his way briefly, then shrugs, "Not too many," she says thoughtfully. "But I guess a lot more than you've met. Tokyo is full of magical girls and boys, and evil, as well. The group is called Virtue, and we try to help people in need; especially to defend them from Youma and other evils."
Daisuke Hansuke listens to this. Youma. It's a word he had to go look up. 'Monsters'. He frowned a bit. Like whatever made that small kid a monster? That made him unhappy, but he looked down a little.
"I'm afraid that they may find my abilities lacking." he says softly, a little ashamed. "I--- don't fight. I can't." he says. "And--- I don't like hitting people or...fighting or---" he grits his teeth. He seems uncomfortable suddenly. "I mean. I heal. That's. All I do. I mean. I can swing the staff... but. That's it I think." he says gently. "I'm not powerful." he says shaking his head a little as he follows along. "I'll protect people. I can do that. I don't care about myself a lot. I'm not important...." he says looking down at the sand. "I mean. If a--- 'death beam' is coming for someone innocent...I'm getting in front of the death beam... you know?" he says softly. "Is that even a thing?" he asks. "'Death Beams'?" he asks.
"'That's all I do,'" Ami repeats him, her tone sardonic. "Daisuke, they aren't going to ask you to do something you aren't comfortable with, but I would give up everything to have the power to magically heal other people. Mamoru isn't even a magical boy as far as I know, and he's a member of Virtue." She glances at Daisuke, then smiles at him. "You have powers, and you want to help people; that's all that matters. And I am jealous of your powers." She will address death beams later.
Daisuke Hansuke seems a little wilted, which doesn't help the big bad vampire exterior he had coming down the beach earlier. He's not completelty in 'Mope Mode' though. He's talking it out and that's all that matters. "Mamoru is...something I dunno. He seems familar. It's..." he bites his teeth together. "It feels important. I dunno. I can't explain it. I'm betting he can't explain it either." he says with a hard calming breath.
"I understand..." he says softly. He just aknowledges this and takes another breath.
"I've always belived in one thing--- and that is.... someone who hurts others... has lost hope." he says softly.
"I don't know where I've heard that before. It's not something I was taught. But I try to live by it. I never bullied... or hit anyone.. or fought anyone. I never lied to anyone one until --- the other day. With the police." he says a little grimly.
He does smile a little. "Jealous?" he asks with a short almost giggle. "I guess it is helpful..." he says. "And I won't lie but...it's been making it easier for me to treat animals. I feel better when I can help a cute puppy feel better immediatly rather than deal with a few weeks of being a splint and being unhappy..." he says.
Ami turns towards the water, and stares out over the lit bay of Tokyo, rather than continuing down the path. "I wish I didn't have to fight," she tells him quietly. "But someone has to defend others, and there are evils in this world that won't stop just because you ask nicely. Someone has to fight. I hope you won't think less of me for it."
Daisuke Hansuke shakes his head. "I do not." he says softly. "I saw Sailor Moon. She tried to talk. When that failed... then she fought. If you try--- if you make the attempt...." he shakes his head a bit. "No- I won't. I will not, Ami-chan." he says softly.
"You fight to protect people. I can't begrudge that. It's when you fight to...hurt--that..." he just sort of sighs.
"I'm upsetting you. I apologize." he offers.
Ami turns and blinks at Daisuke. "What?" she asks, then shivers as a draft of wind catches her. She huddles into his coat for warmth, then furrows her brow. "No, I'm not upset. I just ... sometimes it's hard, being Sailor Mercury. And sometimes I wonder if we're doing the right things. You're just echoing my own thoughts, and I guess I still don't know how I feel about it."
Daisuke Hansuke closes his eyes. "I can't judge that. I haven't seen what... most of you- or.. anyone really does. I have been in exactly one situation. I have seen a tiny flying cat boy named Yoru. A talking cat named Luna. Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury and Tuxedo Kamen - and some Doctor/Scientist looking jerk." he says softly.
"But if saving people... and children from.. whatever that jerk was doing, means fighting. I'd rather you fight. I can do my best to make everything better after." he says with a curt series of nods.
Ami considers his words in silence, the wind blowing at her hair and her pretty red bow. She tucks her arms together over her stomach, hugging herself for added warmth. After a moment, she nods, as well, and then turns to continue walking.
Daisuke Hansuke folds his arms and thinks...how can he make this better....tap tap tap...
"Well. To be fair... the whole thing with Luna could had been a cat-tastrophe." he says.
He does emphasis this heavily. He is trying! That's something.
Ami makes a faint noise of amused laughter, then leans against Daisuke's side heavily as they walk, just briefly. "That was terrible," she informs him quietly.
Daisuke Hansuke is leaned against. Naturally, he places an arm around her shoulder, casualy. This seems like a reflex- and if Ami moves or nudges it away- it'll go away- otherwise. Well. It is chilly out, right?
