Ami Mizuno texts Makoto Kino: I don't know what I have to do to fix this. But I hate feeling like I've lost my best friend. I don't want to have to choose between you and Takashi, but if you tell me that's what I have to do, I would choose you.

But how can I blame him for something that is, fundamentally, the fault of the darkness he was born with? So I don't forgive him, and I won't forgive him until that's gone. But I value his intellect. I value his caring, and his kindness. Those parts of him *are* there. They just ... he guards them close because he's worried they will be used against him, like some sort of weakness. How can I turn my back on him? He needs help. And being his girlfriend doesn't mean I'm going to just pretend like everything's okay. It's more like ... like a promise of what could be, if we can fix him. Like Usagi's ring from Mamo-kun.

He says he's willing to do whatever it takes to make this work; I don't think he would say that if he thought it was working righ tnow.

I miss going shopping with you and Usagi-chan. I miss you telling me how wonderful Nephrite is. I miss helping you with your homework, and I miss sharing tea and borrowing your teeshirts. And I know you don't know how to make that happen, and that's not your fault. But that doesn't make it hurt less. So please don't be sorry. Just ... just ... I don't know.
