So it's a little odd to be getting a new student in class this late in the year. And yet, early this morning Momo's teacher introduced a very shy looking little girl with red hair to the classroom as Sachiko Hayakawa.<br /><br />Sachiko took her seat quietly as instructed at Momo's table, and mostly avoided both eye contact and physical contact--willingly giving up crayons or pencils when someone else reached for them at the same time in favor of non-confrontation. She just sat there quietly, drawing in a tiny little sketchbook whenever the teacher wasn't looking, quiet and as alone as she could make herself.<br /><br />At recess, Sachiko is--oddly--one of the fastest to get out the door. While the other students rush off to play, Sachiko starts to scan the skies, as if worried some great beast might drop down from above and attack her. <br /><br />"Is it time?" she murmurs, then pulls a rather ratty looking rubber watch out of a little pouch she wears on her wrist. "No, not yet. But soon ..." she trails off, then glances around and skates--yes ''skates''--on her school shoes towards the playground. The first out of class, but the last to arrive to play.

She liked to just run and stretch her legs with the other girls. This was a large reason why she was perplexed by the new girl. She had stopped when she came outside and that was a little weird. <br /> <br /> Either way, Momo liked to meet new people because they were a new friend to make and she ran across the playground as Sachiko started towards the others after whateve rit was she'd been doing. "Hi! I'm Akatsuki Momo! We're in class together, you sat at my table!". She smiled brightly at Sachiko, extending her hand.

She never expected someone to step out in front of her, though! The girl shrieks and puts her toes down, flails her arms, then stumbles the last few steps and winds up running straight into poor Momo. At least she manages not to fall over (or push Momo over).<br /><br />Wide-eyed, Sachiko grips Momo's shoulders and stares at (or maybe it's through) the girl. "What are you doing!?" she asks wildly. "He's coming! He'll see you! Come on, we've got to hide," she says, then grabs Momo's hand and starts racing with her towards the jungle gym to try and hide beneath the slides.

The surprise didn't dissipate at all when Sachiko started tugging her swiftly across the playground and babbling about someone coming. It wasn't abnormal for Momo to make-believe but... They'd just met. <br /> <br /> After they got under the slides, Momo just sort of stared at Sachiko. "Um... That was weird. Who are we hidng from?". Momo looked around, the sunlight briefly glaring off the lens of the camera around her neck when it touched it from above the slide.

She glances one way, then the other, then back the first, then pulls the little rubber watch back out of her wrist pouch. The wristband on the watch is half missing, which probably explains why she isn't wearing the thing. She glances at it, then glances at Momo, then blinks in surprise and holds the watch up to Momo confusedly. "Really?" she says.<br /><br />"Whoa, you're amazing!" she notes, eyes widening in awe. "You're Momo Akatsuki! The one and only Momo Akatsuki! The Princess Peach! I can't believe I've finally found you!"

"But in a few hours, the Clockwork Lord will be coming for me, and I have to be ready to fight him. I thought you were Princess Peach and you were gonna help me, but I guess I was wrong."

She stopped to ask this question, it seemingly of major importance to her.

When he comes, I will transform to Princess Petal. I'm a magical girl," she explains. "And my favourite color is green. What about you?"

She stares at the girl for a moment, then reaches up to lock pinkies with Momo. "Of course it's a promise," she says agreeably, then reaches up to ruffle Momo's hair just like Anshi used to ruffle hers. For a moment, Sachiko just stops moving, stares at the slightly older girl dumbly, then shakes her head and turns to run away, kicking up sand from the pit as she runs. The moment she hits the concrete, Sachiko's on her heels again, racing along with a speed only wheel-shoes can attain.<br /><br />Recess ends only a few minutes later. Back in the classroom, Sachiko is once again quiet and reserved, timidly avoiding talking to the other girls at the table--even Momo. She might as well be a different girl from the one Momo met at recess.<br /><br />The schoolday passes slowly, with plenty of activities, coloring, and a story from the teacher. Eventually, class lets out, but this time Sachiko doesn't rush for the doorway. In fact, she takes her time collecting her things, putting them in her backpack, and then glancing towards the door nervously. Finally, Sachiko does come out, and makes her way towards the playground where she agreed to meet Momo.

Took pictures every time the teacher turned around, but this time she also puzzled over why Sachiko wasn't talking to her. She let it pass and went about her day. <br /> <br /> When the bell rang for classes to end, Momo watched Sachiko with her own quiet and steady excitement as she gathered up her stuff and started at a steady pace towards where they'd agreed to meet together. She had to fight to keep a little bit of a skip out of her step.

She doesn't give Momo time to talk, though, just starts running, heading towards a tree in the school yard. "We've got to get aw--"<br /><br />"SACHIKO HAYAKAWA!" comes a loud, angry voice from near the edge of the building. There stands a severe looking woman in a pencil skirt and blazer, arms crossed over her chest as she peers at the fleeing girl through wire-rimmed glasses.<br /><br />Sachiko yelps and drags Momo behind her. "Stay safe," she says, crouching down into a tripod stance. "I'LL NEVER LET YOU SUCCEED!" Sachiko yells back at the woman, then reaches for her little rubber watch. She pulls it out and flicks the buttons on the side with her thumb, declaring, "Time cannot take me. I am Princess Petal! LET TIME FLY!"<br /><br />Sachiko makes the sound effects with her own mouth as she turns a brief pirouette and draws out a green ribbon from her wrist pouch. She whirls the ribbon like a rhythmic gymnast, then wraps it around her chest once briefly. It sticks!<br /><br />"Sachiko, we do not have ''time'' for this," says the severe woman as she stalks towards the girls, avoiding putting her tall heels in the muddy grass. "I told you we have to meet with the Johnsons tonight, and you need to get to the foster home and get cleaned up!"<br /><br />Sachiko glares, "I'm not going," she says. "I'll make time my own! Petal Shooter!" she declares, then grabs the ribbon and flings it towards the woman. There is apparently a weight in it, because the ribbon crosses the distance quickly and strikes the woman in the stomach, then flutters prettily to the ground.

She crouches down to pick up the ribbon, then begins wrapping it up.<br /><br />"Oh no, it didn't work!" Sachiko says, clearly scared. "Quick, Princess Peach, she's too strong! We've gotta run!"

She was a good girl, and this woman didn't seem to want to hurt Sachiko but Sachiko was clearly afraid of her. So, Momo just stood there dumbfounded.

Sachiko says, trying to shake Momo out of it. <br /><br />The woman finally sighs and steps out onto the grass, making a face as her heels sink into the ground just a bit with each step. But determinedly she strides over and grips Sachiko's arm--not cruelly, but neither is it loose, either. Clearly the grip of a 'parent' (or adult anyways) who has reached the point of frustration boiling over.<br /><br />"Momo-chan!" Sachiko cries as the woman starts to guide her away. "Momo-chan! Run! I'll figure out how to get free! Don't worry about me! Just save yourself and the rest of the school!"

The lady seemed a little mean, and perhaps a little rough. She huffed and shouldered her backpack a little more before lifting her camera and snapping a picture of it, a testament of the meanness of adults.

I know your life has been difficult, but it could be so much easier if you'd just work with me."<br /><br />Sachiko glances back at Momo sadly, but at this point she's caught. When the woman grabs Sachiko by the shoulder again, the girl tears her gaze away from Momo and goes along with her towards the car, shoulders slumped in defeat. "We're not going to have time for ballet lessons if you continue at this rate. Come on, let's go meet that nice American family that wanted to adopt you ..."
