It wasn't because of the power or the added grace, but because he'd ''missed'' her. Having her back was like having all his limbs suddenly in working order again.<br /><br />However, that also left for a mild Temari hangover.<br /><br />In fact, he's slept in late, face burrowed in a pillow and hair all askew. I mean are we still the Guardians or do I need to start filling out even more boring paperwork? <br /><br /> He looks himself over - shower this morning, the cold seems to have passed, maybe. A soft floral scent that smells of spring.<br /><br />He shakes his head and reaches for the Nagihiko cologne instead. He shifts things about until he's able to knock on the door.

He's just glad Shusui isn't here to be all cunning and push up his glasses and figure things out in moments. Day jobs, they give teenagers precious time away from their families. <br /><br /> Kukai walks out into the living room, where Unkai and Rento are sitting, both talking to each other and the gameshow that's on TV. "Hey, I'm gonna have a friend over in a little while." Unkai makes a non-commital noise. "Girl?" Kukai shakes his head. "No, guy. Nagihiko. We gotta talk about some school stuff." Unkai sighs and shakes his head. "You are never gonna bring a girl home. I worry about you." For this comment he gets a pillow lobbed at him by Rento. The brotherly argument re-heats as Kukai returns to his room to make sure it's cleaned up enough. <br /><br /> So a few minutes later, when there's a knock at the door, it's not Kukai who gets to it first, it's Unkai, the blonde, topknotted fellow in a white t-shirt and pants, who answers. He arches an eyebrow at Nagihiko for a moment, then at the coffees. "You look familiar. Those a bribe to get you through the door?" There's a sound in the distance of someone being highly annoyed - Kukai, probably, at his brother insulting his friend.

C'mon in, don't mind him, he's always like this." He reaches out for a coffee, taking it if Nagi will pass it over, as Unkai grins, rubbing his stomach. "Right, sister. Got it. OK." He shrugs and rubs his stomach again as Kukai escorts Nagi towards his room. <br /><br /> In the background Rento is practically boggle-eyed and drooling at how pretty Nagihiko is, hanging over the arm of the couch. <br /><br /> Kukai opens the door for Nagi and closes it behind them. His room is sky blue and light green all over - the walls, the carpet, the bed. It looks like an open field, in a way. Kukai has a little TV and DVD player on one side, a low table with pillows around it and some papers and things on the other side, and sports posters and pictures all over the walls - actions shots of soccer games, announcement posters from famous games, all sorts of things. His closet is half open, and inside Nagi might be able to see several sets of various sports implements. There's a window that opens onto the apartment complex's back yard, with a goal drawn on one wall. But there's no chairs and no couches, like Nagi's room. <br /><br /> Kukai plops down on the edge of the bed and grins. "Come on in and sit down wherever! And thanks for the coffee."

He of course lets the coffee cup go, because after all, it's what he bought it for.<br /><br />That, and its from the same place they went to. And not for silly reasons, of course! It's just some damn good coffee.<br /><br />He passes by Unkai, giving him a neutral appraisal with his eyes and a slight 'hmm' in response.<br /><br />He spots Rento, of course. After all, he's an actor, and actors thrive to cater to an audience.<br /><br />By now, his hair is dry and silky again, so he gives the drooling boy a sly smile and a flip of the hair, sending it flying in the standard shampoo commercial fashion as he follows behind Kukai.<br /><br />In the room, he's not an actor but Nagihiko, and he just takes a moment to look around the room, taking in the posters and shots. Some of the games he recognizes, while others he doesn't. "This room feels very much like you."<br /><br />It's obvious by his tone that he thinks this is very much a good thing.<br /><br />Then he ''is'' teasing, or at least his eyes were. "It was an excuse. This one wore me out."<br /><br />At that, Temari flies out from a mass of hair and practically pounces Kukai, snuggling against him in happy hums. She'll go after Daichi next if he's visible.<br /><br />He takes a seat on the floor, using the bed as a backrest. His ribs twinge, but he ignores it. He leans his head against the mattress, eyes closed for a moment as he just soaks in the calm.

He wouldn't be surprised, though. <br /><br /> He watches Nagihiko go around the room and grins, arms crossing. "I'd hope so! It's my room, after all!" Kukai gets first hug, of course. <br /><br /> But then a little blue and green bullet leaps from off the table and has tackled Temari and is hugging her and spinning around in circles with her and basically being as hyper and happy as he could be. Daichi hugs his friend good and close. "We all missed you so much!" <br /><br /> Kukai nods. "Yeah we did! It's good to see you again finally." He looks back at Nagihiko as he sits down, and scoots down besides him on the floor, careful not to sit on his hands or anything, and stretches his legs out, yawning. <br /><br /> It is very peaceful here. Sun's shining outside. It's quiet, as quiet as an apartment shared between five guys gets in the middle of the residential district, and Kukai's willing to wait for Nagihiko to rest and relax before he talks or whatever.

So she squeals when she's tackled and matches Daichi's enthusiasm with her own, giggling into the hugs. "I missed you all, too! He can tell, even through the relative quiet of the area, that this place could be a soothing cacophony of white noise.<br /><br />He doesn't soak it all in for long, really. Sometimes a brief pause to recharge the soul is all that's needed. And this was like a super charge.<br /><br />When he lifts his head to sip his coffee, it's still warm.<br /><br />And that moment or tranquillity fades, though its still felt. He shifts a bit, and maybe its a bit selfish of him to do, but he rests his head against Kukai's shoulder. "But you have to remember, we're...our life expectancies aren't all that high. And I think...you really should try. When you wanted to play every sport Seiyou Public School offered you prayed for help and made it happen! When someone challenges you to anything you always go in, no matter what! I'm not gonna let you walk away from this challenge now!" <br /><br /> Kukai suddenly starts, listening to both Nagihiko and Daichi - mostly Daichi. His eyes flash - hard to tell if it's magic or his own desire - and he looks down at the lovely purple-haired boy resting against his shoulder, and then nods. "You're both right. I can't back down because I'm scared. I can't waste one day when I might be dead the next. I have to try to be as happy as I can be. I can't stop trying, even now." <br /><br /> He shifts, one hand coming up to cup Nagihiko's cheek. Kukai is blushing furiously red all of a sudden, nerves and fear and excitement raging inside him, but he doesn't stop. In the next moment, he finds his forehead pressing against Nagi-kun's, and his lips, warm and soft and a little dry, similarly pressing against the soft, purple-haired boy's lips, deep, clumsy, searching, passionate.

He'd meant it when he said it would be one of the saddest things if the other boy didn't.<br /><br />And he honestly hadn't been trying to suggest himself as that happiness. He's meant what he's said all along, that it's ''okay'' that his feelings aren't reciprocated.<br /><br />This doesn't stop the hitch in his throat at the warm hand along his cheek, or the fierce flutter in his chest shortly after.<br /><br />And his surprise only causes a moment of hesitation where he's frozen in place before his own hand comes up, fingers delving through unruly hair.<br /><br />He's just as clumsy, just as passionate, and its a moment more before he finds his footing.<br /><br />That doesn't matter, though, because in the way that counts, ''this'' is his first kiss. He cuddles up with Temari and kisses her on the cheek for a second, then pulls back, giggling madly. <br /><br /> It is several more moments before Kukai pulls back, just an inch or two, still resting against Nagihiko, one hand resting against the back of his head, the other around his midsection, feeling his heart beating like a drum, some part of him drinking in the electricity of the moment, of the emotion, feeling that same sensation of lightning all around him even though he's just sitting in his room. Kissing Nagi-kun. It's even better than dancing with the lightning. <br /><br /> He lets out a faint little laugh, petting at the small of Nagihiko's back, still almost as close as two people can get, eyes half closed. "mm..." There are no proper words, now. <br /><br /> And naps are fun. Naps are awesome. Waking up from a nap and seeing the brown haired boy your mistress likes kissing the incredibly pretty purple haired boy is the single best thing in the world. Inside her carrying case there's a little blonde angelic turbine spinning and giggling to herself and trying not to knock the case over.
