Some kids, those with bentos they brought themselves, were arguing over tables or just taking one to claim as their own without a word. It was loud, with all the activity and for some it was difficult to even move.<br /> <br /> Momo Akatsuki had already claimed a table, although she hadn't opened her bento yet. She seemed to be excitedly awaiting the arrival of someone. Every few seconds she'd bounce up like she was trying to see over everyone, but whoever it was she was looking for apparently hadn't been seen yet.

There are new people to meet, a new class to attend, a new desk space. Second Graders get their own individual desks, now, seated ''alphabetically'', which means that although she's still in Momo's class, they no longer get to sit anywhere near one another.<br /><br />When the class rushed out to enjoy their lunches, Sachiko was slow to filter out after, meekly seeking to avoid attention as much as possible. Eventually, the teacher orders her to go and eat lunch, and so Sachiko grabs her bento and carefully makes her way out.<br /><br />Thankfully, Momo has been waiting for her, and when she sees her, Sachiko's whole expression changes from shy and uncomfortable to a warm smile. Rushing to join her friend, Sachiko takes a seat next to Momo and hugs her. "Hi," she says happily. "I didn't see where you went, and I didn't know what to do," she explains quietly. "But I found you. Do you think our new teacher is really mean?"

She nearly bounced on her seat in excitement (almost indistinguishable from bouncing to see), completely betraying the usual behaviour of briefly acting older when you go up a grade on the first day. Momo had ended up seated at the very front of the class, by the door, and that was the sole reason she'd made it to lunch in time to claim an entire table herself.<br /> <br /> She wrapped her arms tightly around Sachiko, hugging the other girl against her. "Hey Sachiko!", she burbled in excitement. "I got out the door first because my seat was beside it. I waited for you before eating though and kept a spot for us!". She loosened her hold on her arms. "I think she's just really strict. Maybe it's a second grade thing!.".

She holds on just a little longer than normal, then lets go and turns to start opening up her bento box. There are even lemon gumdrops scattered around like spotlights, and plenty of other silly things.<br /><br />Someone worked hard to give Sachiko a cute-looking lunch, and the girl looks excited to be digging into it. Apparently she hadn't bothered to replace it. With ease of continuous use, she took her chopsticks in her hand and clacked the tips of them together. She'd replaced her former pair of glittery pink ones with a pair of transparent pink plastic chopsticks filled with little air bubbles. Her own bento was filled with a bed of rice generously overlaid with small pink octo-weiners with cute little faces picked out on their surface and a few egg rolls tucked around the bed as a sort of fence.<br /> <br /> She looked up from looking over her bento, her chopsticks hovering uncertainly over them as if she was trying to decide what exactly she wanted to eat first from it. "Um.... No?". Momo shakes her head and just picks up one of the octo-weenies and looks it over before popping it in her mouth from the end of her bubbly chopsticks.

"She's an older girl," she explains as she plays. "But I've known her for a little bit, now."<br /><br />"She used to take ballet at the same place I do," Sahciko explains, "but then a bad thing happened and now she's kindof a monster. It's not her fault, and she can't help it, but she doesn't want to be a monster. But she's afraid of hurting people so she doesn't get to take ballet anymore."<br /><br />Sachiko shrugs a little, then says, "But she doesn't hurt me. She's really nice, I think. And and and," Sachiko says, turning to smile at Momo. "Tomorrow, at my ballet class, she's gonna come after everyone else leaves, and we're gonna dance together. Which is nice, because none of the other boys or girls there like dancing with me. They say I'm weird."

She shifted a little, picking up some rice and eating it.<br /> <br /> "If it's okay with you, can I come too?". She doesn't add that it's to make sure Sachiko doesn't get hurt, but her eyes definitely say it as she looks at her friend.

"It's not her fault that she's a monster. She just got monstered by the thing that made her one. But she says she wants to be a nice person, and I believe her. And she hasn't hurt me, yet. Not really hurt me, anyways. It does sting a little bit when she drains me."<br /><br />Sachiko frowns, then perks up. "You wanna come, too? I mean, are you sure? I don't know if Komatsu-sensei will let you dance with us. But you could absolutely watch, and you can borrow one of my leotards and tights if she does let you. You're only a little taller than me so it should probably fit you. And then you can watch Norie-senpai and I dance afterwards! That sounds like fun!"

And she says I taste really good, I guess because I'm a little kid, and not a magical girl. I dunno what that means." Then, she sticks her finger out towards Momo. She doesn't argue, and doesn't ''exactly'' kiss back, although she does pucker her lips just a teeny, tiny bit. Mostly, she just looks on in complete and utter bafflement.

Without a moment of hesitation thouh, she darts her little tongue along her own lips and then nods. "Yes.".

"But I didn't know you wanted to."
