The sun is shining, the air is warm with just enough breeze to keep it fresh and not stifling. It's afternoon, school has let out for the day, and there's people walking home, walking dogs (and someone who is walking their cat on a lead), kids playing and generally life being lovely.<br /><br />Its almost an act of defiance for Naru to have staked out a chunk of grass to sprawl in. There's not a lot of good recent associations with this park, but its lovely and she's determined to reclaim it as a comfortable place in the city.<br /><br />Ostensibly Naru is laying on her stomach, doing homework as she lays in the grass. In reality, her sketchbook is open on top of her math text book and she's doodling, which has not a whit to do with algebra and everything to do with procrastination.

Refreshing, and rejuvenating even. Yet the cold breeze that descends upon the part offers no such revitalization. This chill is unnatural, bitter, and numbing. A gentle mist rolls along the ground, vapors reaching out like claws, sharp talons wrapping around flowers and blades of grass, covering the ground in a thin layer of frost.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The white-clad lady who glides along the grass, as if she were a ship crossing a very still ocean, is hardly natural either. There is no joy, no passion, no happiness and no pity in her eyes as she surveys the park, and those who would visit it.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;One girl in particular catches her eye, a young middle schooler working on homework. No, someone ''pretending'' to work on homework, Mou Fubuki discovers, sliding closer to look over Naru's shoulder at her various doodles. "Tsk. Tsk. Tsk."<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;No one else in the crowd seems to even notice the yuki-onna there, standing in the middle of the park in broad daylight, nor do they seem to notice the frost, but one by one they huddle closer, wrapping arms around themselves in order to preserve their heat. An unlikely scene, in the middle of summer.

She asks first, rhetorically, it would seem. The doodles of people and dogs and trees are fairly well done, if the truth be told, she's probably better off sticking with art rather than algebra.<br /><br />Naru sits up and considers Mou Fubuki. "You're not fond of my drawings?"

Homework was a handy way to not fall asleep, but now I'm drawing for a while too. Taking a break doesn't mean you don't care."

"You know, usually people don't respond to me. Normally they just get into fights with their boyfriends or whatever. Who are you? You're not one of those magical girls I was warned about, are you?"<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Mou looks down at Naru, frowning, calculating. To say that she's confused would be putting it mildly, but she's not really worried. No one's ever given her a reason to worry, yet.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;For once, her cold glare is matched with a toothy grin. "Well, no matter. I don't really care. Maybe this will show you how you truly are" She raises a hand, and a cold wind twirls around her arm, carrying tiny snowflakes that glint in the sunlight and don't melt. The wind is gentle enough, it's certainly not an attack, but when it reaches out for Naru it's very, unnaturally, cold.

She pushes herself up to her feet as Mou looks down at her, evening up the height difference just a smidge, as if bracing for something, but possibly just hoping she's going to be wrong.<br /><br />The breeze is a first clue that this is going to go about as not awesome as she feared, but as it becomes sharply cold, Naru bends to grab for her sketchbook and make a break for it.<br /><br />Of course the 6am run from hell she's already done today is making running /now/ more of a challenge.

The shots are haphazard, freezing the ground as they miss their target. A few of them might actually hit the girl and wrap her up in ice, if she doesn't do something about them.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The wind carries Mou Fubuki's chilling laughter. She's enjoying this chase.

Naru got her sketchbook, put some distance between herself and Mou Fubuki, even on tired legs, there being sufficient incentive provided.<br /><br />Naru really is a boring weirdo, who has not even a speck of magic with which to defend herself against a volley of snowballs being lobbed at her. She tries to dodge, ducking away from one of them, but the shotgun method with magical ice is fairly effective.<br /><br />Caught up, Naru struggles to try and break free of her icy entrapment. "Well /that/ didn't pan out as I'd hoped." She comments with a soft little hrm.

As she glides closer to Naru, the winds die down, and she slides to a stop next to her. Well, an almost stop. She's moving ever so slowly, as if friction never fully takes a hold of her.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;"Now, now. I'm not going to do anything so dreadful as to drain your energy, and I'm not here to give you any bad flowers." She leans closer to Naru, reaching out with her pale hands that peak out of long, loose sleeves. A breath of air, in the shape of an ethereal hand, reaches out from her, slowly snaking towards Naru. "All I want to do... is touch your heart."<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The magical, blue white, ghostly fingers reach out for Naru, passing into her, and close around her heart. There is very little physical pain in this process. There's really only a numbness, accompanied maybe by the tickly feeling that one might get if their leg falls asleep.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;More importantly, even after the ghostly hand vanishes, even after the icy prison slowly starts to crack, there is an overwhelming sense of 'meh' in Naru. It's clearly a foreign thought, not her own, but it's like a voice that drowns out competing thoughts. Nothing matters. Nothing is all that important. Why bother with all of this nonsense? Duty, compassion, friendships, love... none of it means anything. It's all just a waste of time.<br /><br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Mou Fubuki watches for Naru's reaction, wondering if she'll be surprised yet again.

She notes as she tries to lean back, away from the hand that's readhing for her.<br /><br />Reaching /into/ her.<br /><br />Naru blinks, her expression more thoughtful than paniced, considering as the sensations build. "Woah. That.. that feels weird." She comments as the icy, the tingling, the numbness start to settle.<br /><br />Everything about her body language slumps a little, shoulders hunched down, her head drooped just that bit. As if standing tall and holding one's head up high is just WAAAY too much effort.<br /><br />"Woah. You make this hard." Naru finally thinks to ask and then shrugs, the vast majority of her brain caring about neither the question nor the answer it might recieve. Naru shoves her sketchbook in after her schoolbooks, creativity utterly absent, and she couldn't care less.
