Synopsis: | From one prince to another-- serious business. |
Cast of Characters: | Mamoru Chiba, Tadase Hotori |
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
It's a hot and lazy summer afternoon, and unless one is sleeping, meguca hospital may be pleasant and comfortable, but it's hardly dazzlingly interesting.
Tuxedo Kamen told Tadase he'd be by to visit, and he wasn't, that night. But while Iris is out, there's a knock on the door.
Helpfully, from outside it, to supplement Tadase probably being to short to look through the peep hole, a voice says cheerfully, "Hotori-san? I didn't bring my cape or my hat, but I did say I'd be by-- are you up? I brought mochi ice cream."
Should Tadase manage to drag himself over and open the door, he'll see a ludicrously tall high-schooler in Summer 2015 Trendsetting Couture, smiling warmly with concern behind the expression.
- Tadase Hotori has posed:
Tadase is up, blinking a bit as the door is knocked on. Obviously, it's not Iris, knocking on the door to her own apartment. So he steps up on his toes to the peephole just as Mamoru is introducing himself. He blinks a few times. And then lets him in. After all... ice cream. He doesn't quite recognize himself, but he's sure Kiseki would've thrown a fit if he was oozing evil.
"Hello?" he says, with a smile. "You're looking for me?" he adds, questioningly. Kiseki floats up nearby, zipping around mamoru's head and looking him up and down.
Tadase gestures to the couch, with its nearby table, currently covered with drawing supplies and pictures, which he pushes over to one side to make room.
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"Yo," says the older teen, lifting a hand in greeting and then offering a chilly white bag. "I got enough for Dr. Shelby, too, so we should probably put that in the freezer."
He comes in and closes the door behind him, then flashes Kiseki a little grin-- it's obvious he can see the tiny Guardian. "Kiseki-san," he says politely eith a slight inclination of his head.
Finally, the teenager takes a seat. "My name is Chiba Mamoru, we've met but I was in henshin-- I'm also Tuxedo Kamen. I figure you can keep that a secret. I came to ask you some things, since you seem to know a great deal."
- Tadase Hotori has posed:
Tadase smiles, and points the way to the freezer. When Mamoru lets slip his identity, Tadase nods. "Well, I won't be telling anyone, that's for sure. I might not have a secret identity like most of you folks do - but I certainly understand how important it can be to keep them - to protect yourself, and protect your family. I appreciate you telling me.
Kiseki nods too. He might be hyperactive, but he's not a blabbermouth. "It's funny how easy it is to see once you know, but impossible before then!" Kiseki adds. "Oh, and you brought me ice cream too?" he asks, or really, demands.
"I know a lot more than you might expect, yeah. I spend a lot of time with Tsukasa helping him try to keep track of everything for Virtue - and now I know Blue-sama, too. So I'll be happy to help you wherever I can."
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"Shelby-san probably won't miss a couple," Mamoru says to Kiseki with a laugh, getting up again in order to separate the bag of mochi-balls of ice cream into 'freezer' and 'eat now'. As he's doing this, he nods to Tadase. "It's more a matter of sticking my nose in where it doesn't belong in one case, trying to stop the people who hurt us in another, giving you information you and Virtue might wish to be aware of in the third, and finally, offering my help."
Warily, he hands off an ice cream ball to Kiseki and says, "The first thing, I may wait until I have a guarantee I won't be shrieked at. The second-- I understand it was a princess who drained your energy. I know who she is, but any details you can give me on how she acted, what she said, and what else she did would be very helpful. I'm trying to back her and her guardians into a corner so they finally come forward and just ask for help instead of carrying on as they have been."
- Tadase Hotori has posed:
Kiseki sits and begins to make good progress on the mochi ball, large though it is compared to him. Tadase looks at Mamoru. "I have a feeling some people may be better off with your nose stuck in thier business than they might otherwise be." he adds, with a smile. Then the Princess comes up.
"Hmph. She reminds me of Ikuto. Greedy and selfish. But... they're both hiding something. You can see it in their eyes, when they go to hurt people like they do." There's a pause. He tries to push Ikuto out of his mind and remember what his more recent enemy said.
"She seemed to be both regretful of her actions and determined to follow this course." he adds. There's a pause while he helps himself to a little Mochi too. It does help. "She didn't want to share her problems. She was afraid of a conqueror getting involved. She knew it was wrong, though. She knew what she was doing was wrong, and was adamant it was the only way and that she'd tried every other way." he sighs.
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"Ha," says Mamoru, more wry than anything else, at 'some people may be better off'. Iris' mochi is stuck in her freezer, and Mamoru finally comes back over to sit down again. There's nothing nervous about him; everything's easygoing, kind, or dry-humored. And somehow, despite the lack of power Tuxedo Kamen's shown in the few fights Tadase has seen him, despite the fact that the white-masked boy has more of a tendency to melt into the shadows than command attention while in henshin, he carries himself with careless confidence. Even now, talking with Tadase and Kiseki over ice cream in someone else's house.
"She's not changing her party line, that's good to know," the teenager says with a nod. His eyebrows lift. "I wouldn't say she's greedy or selfish -- and before you say it's easy for me to say that, she did get me too. So-- greedy, selfish, no. Desperate, terrified, and inexperienced enough to be completely unaware of her own blind spots, absolutely."
He sits back and laces his fingers together, resting his hands on his stomach, and looks thoughtful. "As far as she knows, she has tried everything. But there's a lot she doesn't know. Other people can think of solutions to problems you're stuck on. What she's hiding is something about a very large group of people whose lives are in danger, and whatever is menacing them--? The energy from magical people can be used, somehow, to defeat it. She told me, when I asked her why she was doing this--? She told me it was to ensure that there would be a future for them, no matter how history reviled her for the methods she used to secure it."
Mamoru tilts his head slightly, drumming his thumbs on his stomach. "She's committed to it because she doesn't know of any other ways, and she's afraid to listen to other ways because she seems to be on a time limit. She trusts me not to lie to her, which I won't, but she also can't trust me with the whole truth because I'm known to associate with very questionable people."
- Tadase Hotori has posed:
Tadase smiles. "Questionable people like an 11 year old who spends time in illicit apartment clinic after passing out at random?" There's a silly, yet knowing, glint in his eye as he pops another mochi ball into his mouth.
"She was... really determined though. Amulet Heart - she's a very good friend and ally of mine - really put everything she had into trying to talk her down, talk her out of that course of action she was so adamant about taking. And... well, it did not work particularly well. That's why I'm here getting poked and prodded by Iris." he adds, eyes a bit to the floor. "Though I was able to convince her Amu was too important to put out of comission, so there's that."
A pause. "Chiba-san... Kamen-san. I would really like to see her come around. To see her accept help, and to see her change for the better, become more of the person behind her eyes rather than how she is currently acting. I think most of the people who fall under the same banner, Virtue, as you and I would?" he adds. But then he looks down and to the side. "But... sadly, sometimes people don't live up to their good potential. Sometimes, they hurt you, and they keep hurting you." He takes another long pause. "I want to keep giving them chances, even when they do horrible things. I want to see all those things we stand for come true. But at the same time, I can't stand by while they hurt people." This has become less about Rune and more about Rune and Ikuto and Utau.
Then he adds. "Plus, she seems like she's on a time table. And she's got other problems she may not know yet. There's another group starting to become active. Justice. They don't share Tsukasa and Blue's views on the innate goodness of people. They want to see evil struck down." There's a soft tinge to Tadase's voice that makes it sound like he might agree with them sometimes. "So... if we want to help this girl, we need to work hard, and work fast."
- Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Now Mamoru looks apologetic. "You're not questionable, I'm sorry. You need to work on your reputation as morally bereft for a while before you can even come close." The apology is somewhat trollish, it is true; he's teasing a little bit. But he does nod at Tadase's further illumination of the subject at hand. "She won't attack Puellae Magi, and she won't let her people, either, since the kind of energy draining they do would literally kill them. She does have limits." Then he looks away. "They're just eroding, the more time goes by."
The teenager chews on his lip briefly, brow furrowed. "Chiba is fine, Kamen is really only appropriate when I'm actually, you know, wearing a mask," he says absently, buying time for his wheels to keep turning. Then his dark blue eyes fix on Tadase again. "Sometimes they have to hit their final limit before they realize that that's not who they want to be. Ideally, it's not too late by that time, for them or for you."
Another brief inclination of his head. "If they're your friends, and they understand you, they'll understand that you have to stand in their way. And you'll understand that you're going to get hurt when you do."
God knows who Mamoru's talking about.
"If it takes really really getting hurt for them to wake up, so be it. They'll wake up," he finishes that thought firmly.
"Anyway, this princess is running scared. What we'll need to do for her, and for anyone else who needs this kind of help -- like Kurosawa-san did -- is stand together more firmly. Justice is hardliners, from that Tsukasa was saying? They're probably pretty tight. Now-- this is the part where I'm going to offer my help. I know an awful lot of people, many of them with the hopes of Virtue and the ability to see some of them borne out. If Virtue has a clearly stated goal and a decent communication method, I could probably get at least a few more of them to sign on. But the goal is really very important, and organized efforts at achieving it paramount. To outstrip Justice's pace, you'll absolutely need to get people to work together regularly, to train together so they can back anyone up they need to, to get them to share information. Because a lot of the secret problems that people like the princess -- or Ikuto -- have... well, they're going to need armies. Armies with conviction and hope enough to drown out the people who prefer justice lethal."
Mamoru takes a deep breath. "I'd like to be involved. I'd like to help make hope louder. I'd like to see the possibility that this time next year, this princess will be in Virtue herself."
