Synopsis: | Minako meets Usagi at the arcade, talk about orphanage fights, suggests she act more princessy, hang out |
Cast of Characters: | Minako Aino, Usagi Tsukino |
- Minako Aino has posed:
Minako Aino is doing the 'hanging out at the Crown' thing. It's clear that Minako is there. She told her friends she'd be there and she's being loud inside. Artemis is on the roof in curled-cat fashion, as opposed to inside with his charge, which pretty much gives away that it's a Minako-arcade-day.
She's even texted you where she would be in case you got lost! Normally, she's shouting at people and dancing on machines (not necessarily DDR dancing, but dancing -on- things), but today she's in the dark corner, just sitting in a chair without any snacks or drinks, just waiting and looking pensive, her phone out as if she's going to send you more and more texts if you don't arrive right this instant.
- Usagi Tsukino has posed:
Usagi steps inside the arcade, knowing that if she didn't she'd likely get a dozen more texts! Why does Minako want to see her?
GASP! Was she really bad yesterday?
She knew she should have been less punny...
Things seem pretty dire indeed. There's no blonde dancing or otherwise shenaniganing in the place. When Usagi does spot her, she has to blink a couple dozen times.
And then Usagi is ordering milkshakes for them both because if she doesn't have a glass to hide behind.
When Usagi finally does reach the booth, she slides in on the other side, pushing one of the drinks toward the senshi of love.
It's a peace offering. A preemptive 'I'm sorry don't kill me' for whatever it is she did wrong.
- Minako Aino has posed:
Minako Aino seems genuinely surprised to receive a milkshake when you arrive. There's a flash of irritation but she pulls back her voice and asks if Artemis suggested you buy her a treat, phrased as if it were a curiosity rather than an accusation.
"Don't worry. Whatever he mighta' said, I'm not mad. He just gets yippity-meowity sometimes," she explains, passing it off with a casual wave.
"Anyways, how are you Bunny? I never get to talk to you alone. Away from everybody else. Sneaky secrety like," she admits.
- Usagi Tsukino has posed:
Usagi shrugs and slowly relaxes. "Artemis? I haven't seen him. You just looked" SCARY "Kind of upset, so I figured, milkshakes! And I'm good! How are you?"
She slurps on her own and raises an eyebrow. (Or tries. It's more both eyebrows are raised with the obvious failed attempt of one.) "Sneaky secrety like?"
Now her curiosity is piqued! She leans forward, shoulders hunching to keep out the other people, and she lowers her voice. "Sneaky secrety like how?"
- Minako Aino has posed:
Minako Aino tilts herself forward and takes a token sip of her shake before pushing it off to the side. "I just mean I don't get to talk to you about things. Just, you know, lecturing. Strategy. Warnings about the enemy. That's the stuff we always talk about with others around."
"But... we're friends, right," she says. It's phrased as a statement but it's really a question, like she's fishing for acceptance. "So, it's natural to talk. But I got something I wanted to tell you. A secret."
"I didn't think I could trust the others with it. So I came to you. Want to hear it?"
- Usagi Tsukino has posed:
Usagi gulps. Which is worse? Lecture or strategy? She really doesn't know.
And then she snorts and rolls her eyes, as though her answer is the most obvious in the world. Which it is, to her. "Of course we're friends, Minako. You're one of my best." Most people had one best friend. Up until recently, Usagi only had one, too, but that quickly expanded to a total of six.
Her one-eyebrow-but-really-two arch again. "A secret? What kind?" Her voice lowers even further. "Do you have a secret boyfriend?"
- Minako Aino has posed:
Minako Aino gives you a simple, thankful smile when you insinuate 'best friend'.
It goes away when you say 'secret boyfriend', as if she was stabbed in the back. But she bites it down almost immediately, untenses her body, and re-smiles back at you. "Hahaaaa. Of course. Like, six of them," she says, half-reassuringly and half-braggingly.
"But no, I'm not here to brag... well, not brag toooo much," she begins. Then, a bit more seriously: "No, I just wanted to say something, about our last battle. I might not have been completely honest with everybody, but it's 'cuz I didn't know if I could trust everybody to keep up the fight if they worried about the children. But I know you could do it. You did do it," she says, praisefully!
"I hope you can forgive that."
- Usagi Tsukino has posed:
Usagi catches a brief something in Minako's face that makes her want to crawl under rocks for being a horrible friend who kept secrets and things and woe.
Then her brows furrow together. "You weren't completely honest how?"
She's pretty sure she could forgive things. After all, she's done things that's needed forgiving!
She slurps on her milkshake, waiting for the answer so she can give hers.
This may prove a bad idea.
(The milkshake, not the other stuff.)
- Minako Aino has posed:
Minako Aino clucks her tongue at you. "You know. Battlefield assessments," she says, vaguely, hinting at the safety and well-being of the orphans without outrightly confessing to anything.
"I'm glad they're all OK. They all look like fun little guys. I wish I was an orphan!" she continues.
"Just, I'm here to protect my friends and the people I'm responsible for protecting. First and foremost. Leaders gotta have priorities," she continues. She says it like a brag, puffing up and jerking her thumbs at herself.
"But even the amazing Sailor V and her amazing senshi can't do it all. So, like, you're my favorite (don't tell Rei-tan you know how jealous she gets), so you're at the top of my saving list!"
"But we only have so much in us. And if I ask you to save everybody, that's sometimes not possible. So I... gotta be careful what I ask. Because at some point, 'help everybody' becomes 'risk your life for everybody'," she says, trying to sound light and airy instead of serious despite what she's hinting at.
"So, like, the more people I put on your 'saving list', the further down your own life goes," she explains. "I wasn't 100% confident we could save all the orphans. But we did. But I guess I'm trying to say... it's important to know what you're asking of people. Especially your people."
- Usagi Tsukino has posed:
Usagi chews on her lip. Her cheeks burn a little at the favorite comment. "I won't tell her."
(She can't say the same thing, though. Because to do so wouldn't be fair to anyone, especially Minako. And she realizes she's done the same to Ami-chan before, too.)
But there is a truth she can say! And she says it with a small, impish grin. "You do know, even if I never became Sailor Moon, I'd still be your biggest fan, right?"
Then she's serious again. "You...have a very tough job. And I'm sorry if I made it tougher at the meeting."
She looks up and shrugs. "You're being the best Minako you can be. So I don't blame you for it at all."
- Minako Aino has posed:
Minako Aino gives you a careless little wave. "Psssht, don't worry about it. My job isn't so tough," she says, giggling it up and praising you for having good tastes in idols.
"Anyway, don't worry about me. It's not so hard. Just, you know, remember to be careful what you ask for," she says. "If the roles were reversed, I'd die for you if you asked me... but I'd want you to have ASKED me 'cuz you made the decision, not overestimated our abilities."
She waves her hands around again, as if she hasn't said anything possibly worrisome or upsetting. "Anyway anyway. Let's not worry about fightin' or finding princesses. I might not always be around, so just remember - instead of worrying about finding princesses, you should just act like her 'til she arrives," she suggests, stretching her arms and preparing to sit up.
- Usagi Tsukino has posed:
Her eyes grow wide and bright with sudden tears, because Minako can't go away! She has to stay around forever!
And what? "I couldn't ask anyone to die for me..."
Oh, she is so very confused!
But wait! "Princesses?" When did they start asking about princesses?
Her head is spinning by the end of it, and all she can do is let out a short, brittle giggle. "Act like the princess?" Usagi shakes her head and waves her hands. "No, no, no. I'd be all wrong at it. And besides, we'll find her, and you guys will love her more anyway," the 'more' is a slip so she rushes on. "So having someone pretend to be her wouldn't really work, because once she is here, then it will be like, you know, we were trying to have like a temp-princess until the real one could be found and I'm not sure she'd like, you know, appreciate being replaceable with a stand-in so--"
She slurps more of her milkshake, more to shut herself up than anything.
- Minako Aino has posed:
Minako Aino clucks her tongue a few times. "It's fine. It'll put us in the right mindset," she notes. "It's a good thing to aspire to."
"And anyway, I'm pretty 'all wrong' at it, but I've been doing sneaky things and sneaky plans all this time. I even pretended to be the princess for a while now. You guys don't hate me, so I suppose she wouldn't either."
"Anyways, act like it. Fake it 'til you make it! And remember, you absolutely can ask people to die for you. If it's important enough."
She takes a few moments to think. "I've thought about it. When to ask, when not to. It's better to think of it beforehand instead of at the time. That sorta' goes with everything. Plan it out ahead of time. We can talk about it more at meetings, though. It's no fun here at arcades!"
- Usagi Tsukino has posed:
Usagi is still very confused. "But why me? Why not...Rei? She has this...warrior princess vibe going. She'd pull it off much better than I could."
And then she's burying her head in her arms and groaning because why!
And then she sits up. "Why can't she just wave her arms about and go 'hello, it's me, I'm over here!'" She, of course, waves her arms to demonstrate.
- Minako Aino has posed:
Minako Aino makes a little face at you, nibbling on her lower lip. "Because... because I'm asking you to. If I would die for you, you could help me out with this much, right?" she asks.
"Anyway, Rei has enough to do. I haven't talked to her since yesterday. I'm gonna make her do a bunch. All the hard work. But either way, we all can do it. If *I* can do it, I'm sure you can." She gives you a trusting smile before devouring up her drink.
- Usagi Tsukino has posed:
Groan! Groan groan groan! The guilt card? Really? It's so underhanded! It's so...working.
Usagi huffs a sigh. "I could try. Maybe. But...can I start pretending on Monday?"
- Minako Aino has posed:
Minako Aino slumps a little but decides to accept that. "Sure. I can pick up the slack until then." Slowly, probably exaggeratedly, she reaches up to her eyes and rubs around there, then all the way back over her temples.
"It's just tiring, you know. Anyway, don't tell anybody else. I'm afraid they might be mad at me!" she says, springing to her feet, suddenly chipper and lively and energetic.
"I'm gonna run and get my cat. I need to borrow your Luna. For itty bitty kitty kissies. I'm gonna set them up for a date!"
- Usagi Tsukino has posed:
Ug, more guilt. Usagi's horrible!
Usagi sighs. "Of course you can borrow her, she should be outside." After all, it's the least she could do!
Wait! "Kitty dates!" Eeeee! "Luna like the sushi grade tuna!"
