Synopsis: | Naru wants to talk to Norie. Norie wants to talk to Naru. This happens over Hot Chocolate. |
Cast of Characters: | Norie Okana, Naru Osaka |
- Norie Okana has posed:
Naru Osaka asked to meet Norie not that long ago. Things have been busy for Norie since she returned home. She's been fussed over by mom and dad and even a little by her hesitant brother-- something is still obviously wrong there. She intends to address it.
Thusly, Nore Okana- not Lacrima-- that is, the girl with the short black hair and blue eyes and normal clothing walks into the cafe and looks around. There's a perfectly boring normal worker that Haruna hired for the day shift manning the till. Corvus is probably is on his off day.
She gently purses her lips and turns to the door. She'll wait for Naru to arrive before she orders. Softly keeping her hands clasped down in front of her as she waits quietly out of the way of regular store traffic.
- Naru Osaka has posed:
Busy is often the story of Naru's life, and now that school is back in session, it's absolutely a thing. She's not late, but she's less early than she might normally be as Naru pushes the door to the cafe open and steps inside. Warm leggings and boots and a casual skirt peek out from under her coat, her nearly everpresent satchel over her shoulder.
A start to look around the shop for Norie is brief and she smiles. "Good morning! Sorry I'm running late this morning. Shall we grab somewhere to sit?"
- Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana gently bows and gives a soft series of nods. She looks to the front and walks to the counter and orders herself a Hot Double Chocolate. (It's Hot Chocolate with chocolate syrup and chocolate shavings over whipped cream.). She orders Naru something similar and then walks over to a table at the far back and she slides in. She softly begins sipping her hot chocolate then wipes away the whipped cream mustache.
"So what did you wish to talk about?" she asks. "I have my... own favor to ask. But that can wait. It isn't super important." she says softly.
- Naru Osaka has posed:
"Ahh, thank you." Naru accepts the crazy sweet chocolate drink that Norie brings back to the table with a smile as they settle. "I had hoped to see how you were doing. I was startled to see that you'd gone home, not in a bad way, but surprised none the less, and expected that its probably been challenging."
Naru quirks her head a touch. "What sort of favour?" Curiosity wins there.
- Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana bites her lip. "...The girl I drained into a coma, woke up." she says quietly. "...and Kukai said we're cool now as long as I don't... do stuff like that again." she says. "...and I've been doing good keeping control, since I've stopped starving myself. I was irrational before. I was afraid of hurting my family." she says quietly.
"That's why I ran away." she says.
"I want to. Go back home. I want to go back to school. I'm tired of not hearing the name 'Norie'..." she says quietly.
She head tilts.
"I've... made another decision." she says quietly. "I think I need to tell my brother... the truth. He's so scared. Sometimes. Of me. Because... he remembers... in his own way, the first day I woke up like this. And he walked into my room to wake me up. And I attacked him on pure... instinct. To drain." she says quietly.
"Jiaying's promised to help me. And. I was wondering if. You would be there too." she says sort of hunkering down a bit. "You're... a..." she sort of grates her teeth. "Friend?" she says. It isn't that she doesn't think Naru's a friend. Just. This thing she is doesn't like the idea of friendship so much. It takes her a bit to admit it. But these are things expressed to Naru before.
"-and you know what it's like to first be exposed to this sort of thing." she says. "...and you might be able to help him keep his cool." she says softly.
- Naru Osaka has posed:
"I remember you saying that. I'm glad to hear it." Naru comments quietly as she listens. "To give up the other half of your identity? I can understand why you wanted that back, and I'm glad to hear that you decided on it. I can imagine that its hard though."
Naru takes a careful sip of the hot chocolate, setting the mug down as she listens further. "If he's not ready to hear, he might not remember if you tell him." She comments thoughtfully. "If he remembers anything more than fear, he has a better chance, but a fully mundane mind just makes excuses and is a slippery beast to the reality of the expanded world around them."
Naru's voice is informative, thoughtful, and one of experience. She nods, just a touch, at the reference of herself as a friend, it is the truth. "I'd be glad to be there. My first exposures were also dark, although mind control isn't the same sort of challenging, but I've got some experience in that initial shock." She pauses a moment and then asks. "How old is your brother?"
- Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana sighs. "That and... well the last resort is that I kind of just... wipe. The last half hour from his head. I can do that. I wouldn't like to do that. It's why I ran away. But I also don't want him to be scared of me more than he is." she says quietly.
"Well. Jiaying said that she caught him on a message board asking for help fighting a 'witch and/or a vampire' and was accusing me of being one.' so. I think he already has some idea. But he was also worried when I ran away." she says quietly.
"And it's clear he missed me." she says even more quietly.
"I just want him to understand... that. I didn't. Do that on purpose. It was my first day waking up as this thing. I couldn't even control anything I didn't even know what I was or what I felt and... just." she shakes her head.
"None of that matters. I just.. want him to... not be afraid to wake me up in the mornings." she says quietly.
She says. "I'm still barred from joining clubs, but they're considering allowing me to try again next grade." she says quietly.
"On Club President consideration of course." she says.
"I'm not sure if I'm ready for that close of interaction with people again though." she admits quietly.
She looks back up and head tilts as she sips the hot chocolate.
"I mean. I'll never be. Normal. Like I was before. I don't like close contact anymore. It makes me antsy. Worried. Uncomfortable. There's only one person I feel comfortable around that with and it's because I know no matter what I do to him, by accident or otherwise, he'll just be back to his 'normal' in twenty four hours." she says softly.
"Ah. My brother is.. 16. Eleventh Grade in Infinity." she says softly.
- Naru Osaka has posed:
"Rebuilding trust comes, but it takes time." Naru nods slowly. "The fact that he's been investigating does speak to him remembering more details enough to be cognizant. It's a good sign."
Naru relaxes back into her seat and nods. "You can go to school and not be in clubs, but school is a lot of people for a long time all at once. Doable, but I expect you'll find it exhausting. Some days I find it exhausting and I love people, even if I am not always interested in being touchy feely with them." She is quiet a moment, considering her words at the mention of comfort, finally deciding not to comment.
Naru considers that and then nods about her brother. "Do you want me to meet with him before you tell him?"
- Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana head tilts. "Do you want to?" she says softly. "His name is.. Ryo. Ryo Okana. Like I said. He goes to Infinity, 11th year. He doesn't stay in a dorm, so you might be able to catch him after school. Um..." she tugs out her phone and swipes to a picture of her brother being goofy during a vacation some summers ago. You can tell because Norie is in the picture, too- and she's smiling and looks like she's having fun and isn't something she'd be caught doing nowadays. She motions and let's Naru get a good look, as she pulls the phone back.
"That's him." she says.
She gently sighs and grumbles a bit.
"Yeah. I mean. I used to be able to do it. But. I can't now. Not a lot of people. It makes me feel uncomfortable." she says.
"School is easy. I like school. No one asks me to do much except sit down and pay attention to the teacher usually." she says quietly.
"I don't even need to drain people at school anymore if I keep my energy levels where they've been." she says softly.
"No more... luring... people behind bushes by clouding thier heads." she says. "No more people waking up in strange places like broom closets."
- Naru Osaka has posed:
"Remember that part where I actually like people?" Naru quips with a smile as she toys with the handle of her mug. Hot chocolate vanishes slowly, she's not in a rush for the super sweet concoction. "If he wouldnt be even more weirded out by some strange girl from another school meeting him for coffee on something that isn't a blind date? I'd be glad to meet him."
"I'm glad school is easy. I find that possibly more reassuring that anything." Naru nods a little and that quiet smile emerges again. "Starving yourself doesnt help anything, food or energy or anything. I say it a lot. I say it to utterly mundane girls at school who wonder why they feel like crap because they haven't /eaten/ all day. It's exactly the same."
- Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana frowns. "Well not feeding myself just begins to make me irrational. I start. Cackling." she mutters. "Madly. I'm pretty sure I'll rant about humanity being weak too and stuff like that." she sighs a bit. "Basically I guess I become a supervillian when I get hungry." she quips in deadpan humor.
"But... I feed by attacking people. And that's why I was starving myself. I don't /like/ attacking people when I'm in my right mind. But I just kind of let it happen now." she says. "Because the other situation is worse." she says.
"Right. Naru-chan. There's another question I wanted to ask about. People seem awfully upset at Riventon-sama recently. I'm not aware he did anything recently to earn this ire? Usually, I am having to pull him out when he makes people that angry. Do you know what may have happened?"
- Naru Osaka has posed:
"There are those who say that those of us who eat meat are no different. That we gain energy at not just giving up of what they might recover from, but from the animal's death." Naru replies thoughtfully. "You are, effectively, vegetarian. You take what does not kill."
Naru frowns a little, thoughtfully. "Well. There's a couple potentials on that one. The first is that Ami was pretty sure he'd done something to Sakura and her cards, and was angry with him about that. I.. don't know if he did or didn't, but she was pretty convinced." She pauses then, quiet. "The second is that Ami is currently missing and I am about 99 point 9 percent certain he had nothing to do with it, but I expect others might not share my opinion."
- Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana blinks. "Ami is missing?" she asks. "Does Riventon-sama know?" she asks softly as she head tilts and leans in. She frowns a bit and leans back and looks down at her phone and begins texting.
"Sakura? and.. Cards?" she asks. "That name is familar. But I've never met her. I met someone named... Clow Reed? Who mentioned her. Along with Mamoru and Kunzite." she says softly.
She frowns and looks back to her phone with a slight worried concern.
- Naru Osaka has posed:
Naru nods at the question about if he knows or not, but takes a sip of her hot chocolate rather than give much more in the way of details.
"Tell me about Clow Reed" Naru asks as she sets her mug down again. The whipped cream has melted utterly into the chocolate, making it far paler than how it started, rich and creamy.
- Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana looks up. "A 'card' of some sort is attached to my.... friend." she says softly. "I went to Kunzite and Mamoru for help. They did something that activated the card heavily and things went out of control, and bits and pieces of past events from all of us were played-- is my theory at least." she says quietly.
"Then someone came in to get it under general control because it was going too wild. He called himself Clow Reed." she says.
"He said he didn't have much time but that Sakura would have a big trial ahead of her, but would survive it with the help of her friends." she says.
"He also looked at me and seemed dissapointed and said that 'I had a long road of redemption ahead of me.'" she says. "But to also 'not give up on it'." she says silently.
"I guess that's one of the few things that urged me back home." she says quietly. "Maybe..."
- Naru Osaka has posed:
Naru listens to the mention of 'a card' and 'things went out of control' and somehow she manages not to sigh heavily or hide her face in her hands. No, she instead listens very calmly and then there's a soft hunh. She's quiet a moment yet and then nods a little.
"I know of a couple challenges Sakura has to work through, but not all the details. They are hers, and not mine." Naru considers Norie a moment and then ther's a gentle smile. "Don't give up on it, even if the road is long. You've come really far even in the time I've known you. I'm proud of you."
- Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana frowns. "Yes, but that's a short road so far if it ends here. Maybe more is going to happen to me." she sighs miserably. Her phone blings and she looks down at it and taps back. She looks back up. "He didn't know. He'll want to talk to her friends. I did tell him that you wanted to speak to him. So maybe sooner is better than later." she says softly.
She nods. "I don't know Sakura. Just through that." she says softly.
"Do you want me to pass your number to him?" she asks. "Since you're here now and I can ask you that."
- Naru Osaka has posed:
"Please do pass my number to him." Naru nods in agrement. "I'd be glad to talk to him. I'd hoped to already, but scheduling beign what it is, it just hasn't worked out." She takes a slow breath, and lets it out with a sigh. "Sakura is a sweet girl. She's entirely too trusting for her own good, but that's a hazard of being a sweet girl, I suppose."
- Norie Okana has posed:
Norie Okana nods. "I've passed your number over." she says. "I need to be going now. He is going out and has requested that I be available in case there is an 'over-reaction'." he says.
She sighs and begins to stand. The Hot Chocolates were already paid for so she takes her cup with her. "Thank you Naru-chan. I will text you when I'm ready to confront my brother." she says softly.
Unless Naru objects, she begins to leave fairly swiftly.
- Naru Osaka has posed:
"Thank you for passing my number along, and for coming to meet with me." Naru stands as well, her own phone binging wiht messages. Neither of them get to linger all day over drinks, it would seem.
"Take care, Norie. Text me when you're ready about your brother, or anytime really. It doesnt have to wait for that." Naru nods a little and then looks to her own phone, to reply to the messages waiting there.
