The Dark Kingdom Whisperer
Date of Scene: 01 January 2016
Location: Tokyo Tower
Synopsis: Homura enlists the Dark Kingdom's aid in fighting Walpurgisnacht. By grabbing Endymion's collar and calling him a jerk. Oddly, it works.
Cast of Characters: Homura Akemi, Mamoru Chiba

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
A chilly night. After speaking with Jadeite, Endymion had gone to Beryl looking for-- he can't remember, right now, but the important thing is that she gave him explicit tasks. Gather energy, find the silver crystal, kill the Senshi once it was acquired. Standard, but at least now he knows. It's the first evening of the new year, and the Dark Prince isn't bothering to disguise himself as a human: he's standing on one of the platforms on Tokyo Tower, cape billowing in the weird light, surveying crowds of tourists flocking there to take the elevators up and get a romantic view of the city. He is also scowling. The light glints off the armored pieces of his uniform, and his rusty-red eyes are narrowed in irritation.

For a half-second, he wonders if he can turn the tower itself into a youma, then bites his lip, trying not to laugh.

Homura Akemi has posed:
Homura Akemi's in a very good mood today. Of course she is. That's the thing that happens when your most important person spends a significant part of the evening dancing with you. It's a kind of joy that Mamoru once got to have, before he was stolen away.

But now is no longer the time for dancing. Now is the time for Homura Akemi to hunt Witches. That's why she's out tonight, leaping from roof to roof, using her Soul Gem to sense the presence of a Witch.

... but what she finds isn't a Witch, and she doesn't find it with her Soul Gem. She finds Dark Endymion, Mamoru Chiba, with her suddenly focused, piercing purple eyes.

An instant later, she's right in front of him, on top of that tower, both hands gripping at Endymion's collar, pulling him towards her face.

"Alright, you jerk. I know you don't remember me, but I sure as hell remember you! You promised to help me, so you're going to help me."

She tilts her head to the side, squinting her eyes. "I know you probably don't care about Witches, as you are now, but I think you'd face a pretty big problem if this city was destroyed. You'd lose your favorite hunting grounds, wouldn't you?"

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Endymion's eyes are wide; his arms pinwheel for a second before he remembers he can fly, and finally self-corrects to avoid falling off the platform, Homura's hands still gripping his collar.

He notices in the back of his head that most of the weird colors from the tower's lights have faded to almost greyscale, and an echoing silence exists in place of the city noises from below. He doesn't focus on either of these things. Instead, he lifts his arms like he's going to dash Homura's hands off his collar, then pauses.

And blinks down at her.

"What? Oh man, are you still mad about the fried chicken?"

Homura Akemi has posed:
Homura stares up at Endymion, in a glare. Then the fried chicken is mentioned, and her glare drops into more of a thoughtful frown. The frown turns into a giggle, and a smirk, and Homura just cannot stop laughing.

"I'm glad you're still in there somewhere, Mamoru-kun. At the very least, whoever you became can still make me laugh."

She would release him at this point, but instead she stays here in the frozen moment. No one will be able to watch them like this. However, one of her hands trades his collar for his wrist, and the other hand releases. "You're in my world now. If you try to break my grip, I'll simply grab you again. I'm not here for a fight. I want to talk to you."

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
--guess she's not mad about the fried chicken? Maybe crazy, but...

The Dark Prince relaxes slightly, and then still more when his collar's changed for his wrist in Homura's grip. There's a look of puzzlement on his face at the name, at the 'whoever you became'-- but she's laughing at the same thing he was laughing at, and that's something. Almost gently he says, "My name is Endymion, not Mamoru. You must be confusing me for someone else, though I'm glad to hear he has an excellent sense of humor."

He waves his free hand around dismissively. "You're certainly welcome to talk, though. I won't fight you unless you get in my way, and I'm not doing anything at the moment."

Homura Akemi has posed:
Homura shakes her head. "Yeah, sure, whatever. You're not that person. I don't care. You're right though. He had a good sense of humor. Good sense of style, too."

Homura Akemi is certainly crazy, and she herself wouldn't deny it. "Yeah, well, I can't promise you I'll never fight you, but for right now I just wanna talk."

With her free hand, she flips her hair behind her. She looks out on the horizon, pointing near the Tokyo Harbor. "A month from now, a very powerful Witch, named Walpurgisnacht will appear. I predict that it will show up there, over the Harbor, but I don't make any promises there. It could attack from any angle."

"What I can promise you is that this Witch, if not stopped, will wipe out this entire city. The mundanes will think it's a storm or something, but in reality it will be a horrible monster."

Her free hand drops to her side, and she glances up at him. "I wonder, is that something that would get in your way? I can't imagine that any of your youma, or your other interests in this area, would be spared if it had its way."

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Endymion squints a little at Homura, but seems remarkably good at not arguing things that are subjects being dropped. He reaches a hand up to rub at the back of his neck as he looks out over the skyline -- in itself a very Mamoru gesture -- and observes, trying to imagine what she's describing.

At her last tack, he glances down again and gives the black-haired girl an unimpressed look. "Don't talk down to me. Give me details, please: you're correct in assuming that the interests of the Dark Kingdom involve the city remaining intact, but 'very powerful Witch' doesn't tell me anything. I'm guessing you're talking something that's powerful enough that you and all your allies couldn't defeat by yourselves, which is why you want our help-- if this isn't a trick. It could be. I know you know the Senshi. But assuming it's not a trick, give me something I can take to my Queen that will convince her it's in our best interests to temporarily help you."

Homura Akemi has posed:
Homura gives a careful glance upwards to Endymion. She pauses, considering. "Huh. Alright. You want something substantial. Well that's something. Better than a laughing no that I half-expected."

Homura pauses to consider. What would be substantial enough. "I wonder if video evidence of a potential future, would be enough? If it isn't, well, I can offer you one thing. If nothing shows up, you wont have to do a single thing. It would help if you showed up to the meeting, but even that isn't strictly necessary. If it does show up, well, I warned you."

Homura's free hand reaches into her pocket, pulling out a smartphone. She messes with it one-handed until she finds the video she wants to see. She turns the phone so that Endymion can watch.

The video is shakey at best, and doesn't always focus on the Witch itself. It's clear that whoever took this video was actually there, and more focused on fighting than taking good pictures. However, it's also a cut video, which is to say that a lot of the junk has been cut out in order to focus on the action. It shows a very clear image of a giant woman-like monster, floating upside down and apparently 'standing' on a giant turning gear.

As the video goes on, the city goes from being mostly normal with maybe grey skies to a devastated ruin, and then to a wasteland with some building chunks sticking out of it. Whoever the lone warrior is who took this video, it's clear that she is not winning.

Then suddenly there's a flash of pink before the video cuts off.

"That's the kind of thing you can look forward to."

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
The boy prince in the ancient-patterned armor watches silently. His lips thin. He doesn't comment, just notes details, processes with 'a potential future' and stores that, then looks thoughtful. Red eyes or not, his agile mind is clearly still functional. Then the video's over and Homura's slamming it home, as it were.

And this is the part where -- unnervingly, possibly -- Endymion de-henshins to take his phone out of his pocket. Out of, in fact, the pocket of Mamoru Chiba's school uniform. Because that's what he's wearing, rumpled as it is.

He shoves his glasses up on his face with the back of his hand and unlocks the phone, fishes around for a moment, then reads off the number and says, "Okay, send me that. And the details on the meeting-- if you can promise no one will take us out back and shoot us, I can promise we won't start any trouble there either."

Homura Akemi has posed:
Homura glances over Mamoru's outfit, worn by Endymion. Yeah, she knows her friend, even if she won't continue to bring up the subject. It doesn't disturb her as much as it probably should, but her face takes on a resting neutral expression that happens to hide her true feelings.

"The meeting will involve members of both Eclipse and Virtue, as well as some neutral parties. It's neutral ground, and I doubt any one faction will have an advantage. There is most certainly a strictly enforced no-violence rule going to be in place, so I thank you for pre-emptively agreeing to follow that."

Homura looks at Endymion's phone, gets the number, and transfers the video to him. This video is one she's okay with spreading around. She also texts him an address, a date, and a time. It's Homura's own address, really.

"Aside from this one issue, I can't promise that we'll be allies, but I look foward to seeing you a the fight."

"As for the senshi... well... maybe some will show up. I don't know. I can promise that if people do try to cause trouble, we'll have ways of containing them."

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"I'm not expecting allies," Endymion says matter-of-factly, glancing over the phone's screen as it gets the information, and then pocketing it as the video downloads. "And you seem sensible enough to feel the same way. But I agree: an event that threatens everyone equally is, of course, an exception," he adds, glancing up again and henshining back into his armor with an understated crackle of energy.

"I suspect my Queen will agree to the temporary truce. I can't speak for her; it's only an educated guess-- but I'll send you word either way, and if we'll be at the fight, then we'll be at the meeting as well. Thank you for your reassurance of the neutral ground and your ability to enforce it." There's a pause, and the red-eyed boy glances down at Homura's hand around his wrist.

If she doesn't let go on her own, he delicately removes it, giving her a faint smile.

It doesn't look like Mamoru's. Usually the amusement's accompanied by affection.

Then he's just gone, and the wind gusts across the platform.
