Date of Scene: 01 September 2015
Location: Earth Court Frat House
Synopsis: Mamoru, looking for a way to help Madoka get powers from someplace other than Kyubey after a conversation to that effect with Homura, calls up Blue on the Bluephone to ask him about Pretty Cures.
Cast of Characters: 3, Mamoru Chiba

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Feeling slightly silly, but trusting Cure Gull not to troll him or give him a fake mystical phone number, as it were, Mamoru stands in front of the mirror.

The brand new super classy swivel dressing mirror that Beau Brummell would be proud of. Brand new because he just bought it. For this particular purpose. Because despite rumors to the contrary, he does not take full-length mirror selfies and post them on lookbook.

Hesitantly, he lifts a hand to tap on the mirror, but each of the three times is more resolved.

I want, he thinks, to talk to Blue.

Rocky Road (3) has posed:
Asking Haruna/Cure Gull how to contact Blue was an odd experienced. She blushed a lot. But Tuxedo Kamen/Mamoru was probably used to this reaction from a lot of girls. Sure, Gull thinks Tuxedo Kamen is kinda handsome! But there's a big difference between thinking someone is handsome and thinking you're in love with somebody... and Haunra is more of the first type in mindset.

She told Tuxedo Mask how to contact Blue with a straight enough face- Haruna didn't quite feel like the type who could keep a lie going without giving away tells-- she kinda wears that super shy heart on her sleeve.

Back to the matter at hand, Mamoru taps the mirror. One......

Two.....

Three.....

For a moment nothing happens. Haruna said it would happen rather instantly. It doesn't.

However, after a few seconds the mirror---and room get lit up by a blue glow.

Blue steps through, in all his billowy, unbuttons at the top shirt glory. There's an odd look of concern and confusion on his face, which might explain the pause. It takes looking at the young man for a moment before his eyes light up. "I'm going to assume that, you are a friend of one of the Pretty Cure." he says softly. It isn't the first time someone who wasn't a Pretty Cure had contacted him. But this specific person is new.

"Why do you wish to talk?" he asks softly. Not confrontationally. But with a voice of concern. Did something happen?

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
The boy's dressed to the nines-- he is, in fact, wearing a tuxedo in the afternoon. Not the jacket, but the rest. All in all, he's much sharper than 'billowy', in mind and appearance-- but not in heart. There's initially nothing but polite respect on his face until the look of confusion sort of explains the length of time it took for Blue to arrive, and then Mamoru Chiba looks wryly apologetic.

"Cure Gull," he explains, putting his hand briefly in his jacket and pulling out a white, pointed mask, which he holds up to his face by way of identification.

It's entirely possible he looks more familiar, somehow, without the mask on-- to Blue-- but the mask is absolutely the easiest and most immediate association.

Then it's stowed again, and the teenager gestures inside as if he'd invited Blue in by the door. "I wanted to ask you a few things about what it takes to be a Pretty Cure. I have another friend, one who wants to help, but her situation is complicated. Do you take tea? Since I called you over and everything."

Rocky Road (3) has posed:
Blue hears tea and suddenly- you have ALL his attention. Of course, when the boy puts on the mask....

"Aha!" he says with a smile. "You helped her. I can answer any questions you have." he says with a genuine smile, as he lets Mamoru lead the way to tea. He'll follow along and he purses his lips.

"That is a rather complicated question...." he says. "I cannot force anyone to be a Pretty Cure, first of all." he says. "It's a choice made by a heart that knows that they want to help, that theres danger involved- and that it won't be easy." he says a little sadly.

"But... if they- belive in love. hope. courage. justice-- they can become a Pretty Cure." he says.

"It is a little more complicated than this." he says softly. "But these are the basics. Can you tell me about your friend?" he asks softly.

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
Oddly enough, the fact that Blue will, indeed, have tea is something that relieves Mamoru immeasureably, and he comfortably relaxes into taking the world at face value again. They're both far too overdressed for the kitchen, but the living room with its low table and couches will do nicely. Everything is, of course, spotless.

Mamoru gestures for Blue to take a seat, and while he doesn't go full tea ceremony (or even close), there's enough ritual about the process that there's nothing even remotely out of the ordinary about the tea part of this conversation.

Yes, the set is already out-- traditional, minimalist, fine. He pours.

"A lot of things about her are secrets that aren't mine to tell, but I can assure you she's made of love and hope, and she's only afraid because she has no powers, and a lot of things target her. I believe she would stand for justice if," he pauses, then continues drily, "she ever got past just not wanting anything bad to happen to anyone, and wanting to stop it. However--"

Tea poured, Mamoru sits down across from where he's set Blue's cup. "--what do you know about Puella Magi?"

Rocky Road (3) has posed:
Blue sits down and accepts tea. This is Blue's happy place. He is obviously comfortable. He brings the cup to his lips, and has a sip. He listens to Mamoru speak about his friend. Yes. This fits the profile of the kind of girl that can become a Pretty Cure...

"How I... well. 'Make' a Pretty Cure." he says. "Is that I give them a love seed. A love seed is potential. It isn't a promise... or a contract. If... a girl, such as your friend, has a shining heart--- they'll be able to turn a love seed into a Pretty Change Mirror, and thier PreCards. Thier names--- represent what they feel in thier heart. Haruna's sister--- had fond memories of going to the beach with her sister, and exploring tide pools, and feeding seagulls. So she became Cure Tide. Likewise... when Haruna made her Mirror, and PreCards, she became Cure Gull, because those visits also stood out in her mind- and she prefered feeding Seagulls. Really, with such an affinity for birds, it honestly doesn't surprise me that Corvus was drawn to her in the first place." he admits sadly.

"---which is another point of concern I wish to address. I understand you know a lot of magical girls." he says rather coyly. "and if they voice concern, this is what I wish for you to tell them. Corvus isn't a liability. Everything that Cure Gull had said about him is true. He even... asked me to put him back in a prison... or a tablet- because he said he didn't deserve her, or anyone elses, kindness. I refused. As odd as it sounds, Corvus means a lot to Gull, and it will upset her if anything happens to him. He's harmless now." he says. Then he moves along the subject--- "Of course, this doesn't have anything to do with your last question." he says with a serious frown.

"I am aware of what a Puella Magi is. Some of my Pretty Cure have met them. What I've pieced together, is that a strange creature gives out wishes for power, and these things usually end poorly for everyone involved." he says as he takes another sip of tea. "I have tried to seek out this entity. I cannot find him. I cannot see him." he says. "This typically means they are not from this planet." he says softly. "But Earth oftens has more visitors than you'd think at any given time." he answers coyly.

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
The boy in the white tie and tails, the gloves, picks up his own tea and holds it meditatively; he's quiet as he listens to Blue, carefully breathing in the steam from his tea instead of sipping it, at first. It's very hot.

'I understand you know a lot of magical girls'-- one corner of Mamoru's mouth turns up, and he's a little red, maybe, but his laugh is good-natured. "I will," he tells Blue, "if it comes into question anywhere I can hear. I wasn't worried; I can tell she's all right now, and I figure she knows Corvus better than anyone else. And it doesn't really sound all that odd, that he means a lot to her... it sounds like they had pretty similar experiences, in some ways."

But Blue's moving on, then, and Mamoru lowers his cup, cradling it in his hands. He nods. "They do seem to end poorly. One of my friends who's a Puella Magi also knows the friend I'm worried about, and she's been trying to prevent this other friend from making a wish for a long time. She wasn't... really aware there were other ways to be a magical girl." He clears his throat, then explains delicately, "She's been a little sheltered."

Then Mamoru waves his hand and sips his tea, finally, before setting the cup down. "I told the Puella Magi friend that I would look into some of the other methods, since if we can give our friend an alternative, it might be easier to keep her from the siren call of a wish for anything she wants."

Rocky Road (3) has posed:
Blue is sipping his tea. "Tsk. Don't act like it's a bad thing." he says, at Mamoru's blush.

He listens to Mamoru's story about his friend. He seems to think and ponder on this for a good long while, staring at the tea set on the table. He seems in deep thought.

"So you're trying to find a way to empower this girl, so she doesn't make this wish." he says politely.

"Are you able to tell me more about this girl?" he asks softly. "I can understand that you may not wish to tell me details." he says. "I can not read minds." he insists.

"Meeting me first isn't part of the deal of becoming a Pretty Cure. Though, I would meet her after the fact, regardless." he says. "There's things that are expected of a Pretty Cure." he says. "The main sticking point, is that they need to face The Phantom Empire." he says gently.

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"I'm looking at options, yes, but not just to prevent the wish-- that's the driving urgency, but it wouldn't be so urgent if she didn't want to help so badly, and feel so powerless to do so," Mamoru answers, and there's true empathy coloring the words, her pain echoing in his voice from both shared understanding and literally shared experience.

He looks down at his tea instead of at Blue for a moment, and slowly picks the cup back up, watching its surface is if he could scry, as if he could see her in its depths. "All she wants is peace and happiness for others. She has no concern for herself. She'd take on the worst pain in the world, she'd give up everything, if she thought it could secure a good world for everyone to live in. She's not the only girl I know like that-- but her depth of feeling, her depth of pain on behalf of others, is so strong it hurts. I want to try to find a way she won't have to lose everything."

With this last sentence, he looks up. His blue eyes show too much, show the depth of his own feeling, show the vastness of his own believed powerlessness in the face of the world's potential fate. "Can you tell me about the Phantom Empire? Or should I ask the Pretty Cures?"

Rocky Road (3) has posed:
Blue closes his eyes. "You already faced The Phantom Empire....or one of thier elements. I know when a... Terribad...or a Superbad appears on Earth." he says.

"Queen Mirage wants to remove all love, hope, from the world.. and has already conquered a neighboring world called The Blue Sky Kingdom.

"She sends her Generals to Earth to turn happiness into despair- and when this happens, a Terribad is born- and those who had thier happiness stolen are forced into mirrors. They then begin to impose thier view of the world on the area---- buildings might change into... candy or cake... or... the world becomes wasteland and blooms with dead trees. Pretty Cure are able to turn Terribads back into happiness, and put the world back the way it's meant to be." he says.

"Queen Mirage doesn't often come Earth. She usually sends Phantom in her stead."

"Things would be a lot harder if Mirage ever came to Earth to handle things herself." he says with eyes closed and a certain sadness in his voice.

"Tokyo is important to them for some reason, however." he says softly.

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"Tokyo seems to be the center of the universe, sometimes," Mamoru says a little wryly, and he's folded in on himself a little bit. Only a little. He momentarily wrestles with trying to figure out if it's rude to ask why a terribad's idea of reality is cake buildings, and decides that not asking is the better part of valor. After all, no one's been able to tell him why Latin for Puella Magi, either.

Some depths are better left unplumbed.

"And it sounds to me," he finally says, "like your Phantom Empire may be working with someone else, then -- the youma that that guy who brings the mirrors was working with, she was stealing energy and she definitely was in it for that. Not turning happiness into despair, specifically, but for stealing energy."

After a second, Mamoru shakes his head. "That's beside the point, though. All right, so that's ultimately the menace to life and love that the Pretty Cures hold the responsibility of fighting-- but obviously they can fight other problems that show up, right?"

Rocky Road (3) has posed:
Blue would answer that and tell him all about Hossiwa. But since he doesn't, Blue doesn't say anything about that. But he listens. "Yes. The Dark Kingdom. I don't know much about them. But it's hard to ignore energy dissapearing in large amounts like that." he says plainly. "I also belive it's where Haruna was taken before she was placed back on Earth."

"Yes. They can fight other threats. There's no danger in it-- I mean. Besides the obvious danger of whatever they're fighting. A Pretty Cure who pushes themselves too hard will be shunted into a transitory state." he seems to look far off for a moment...

"With that being said..." he says. "I have someone else trying to speak to me now. If you wish, you can always contact me again later--- or teach your friend----or your friend's friend how to contact me."

Mamoru Chiba has posed:
"They'll get theirs," Mamoru says firmly after Blue mentions Haruna being taken to the Dark Kingdom, and then he nods at the 'they can fight other threats'--

--but when Blue makes it clear he's getting a call, the boy stands politely, bowing. "Thank you for coming to speak with me; I won't keep you. And I will -- I'll open up the option. Thank you for being so kind."

Rocky Road (3) has posed:
"It doesn't cost anything to talk to someone except time." he says with a smile. "-and wether you wanted it or not, I do owe you a debt for helping Haruna. The world would be a much better place if there were more people like you and the Sailor Senshi in it, even though I don't know much about you." he says with a smile.

Then he stands before the mirror. It glows a light blue and he steps into it. Then he's gone, the mirror remaining normal.
