Date of Scene: | 03 June 2015 |
Location: | Uminari City - Seishou Public School |
Synopsis: | Hinote and Rurako talk about swords and fighting, then, she gives him a lession with a very striking finish! |
Cast of Characters: | Hinote Kagari, Rurako Doji |
- Rurako Doji has posed:
Late night at Seishou Public and some of the clubsa were having a late night with plotting, one of them is the current Kendo club, getting ready for their tryouts tomorrow. Their Taicho, Rurako Doji, walks past the front of the school with a very tired expression on her face, she had done nothing put school work and then kendo practice... and she looks like she is about to fall over due to pure exaughstion.
- Hinote Kagari has posed:
"You won't stop me, I shall have your beloved!" cried the man in black armor. "Never!" cried the man in silver armor. The two swords clashed in midair!--- and one broke apart.
"Ugh, that's like the fifth time tonight." said Hinote as he pulled the ridiolous villianous helet off his head. "Can't we take a break?" he asks. Indeed, the Drama Club was having a late night dress rehearsal deep within the confines of a classroom, as Hinote started undressing from the costume armor. Ugh. Why did villians have to wear such bulky black gear. Probably to makee him look more intimidating. In fact, he knew that was the reason!
Regardless, he steps outside to take a deep, steadied breath as he fans himself. Costume armor isn't exactly air conditioned, but this may also be why the Club is practcing in the late evening. He watches Rurako pass nearby, giving the upperclassman a little blink.
Walking over, he asks. "Woah, you look how I feel. Are you alright?" he asks to Rurako.
- Rurako Doji has posed:
Rurako Doji blinks and looks at the underclassman with a tilted head. "Yes Kouhai, just late night practice." She says and tilts her head. "You... you are in the drama club." She states a deadpan sound to her voice, and her statment just that, not a question at all. "You look troubled." She says, granted, she is just tired, but she knows the difference between troubled, and tired.
- Hinote Kagari has posed:
Hinote Kagari laughs. "Yup. one of the only other clubs silly enough to be in school this late." he asides. He just ehs. "Eh, we're just, doing a dress reherasal for an upcoming performance. It's all rather elaborate and I'm stuck in the villian role--- again--- and that costume is ridicolous." he asides.
"I'll get that lead role, someday." he murmurs to himself.
"Why is your club practicing so late? Cooler evenings?" he asks curiously.
- Rurako Doji has posed:
Rurako Doji smiles. "Tryouts tomorrow. A villians costume, in drama at least, makes up for what an actor lacks. Lets say you need to look menacing, well, menacing armor would do it, but if I were to be the villian." She says, granted, she is in a blue hakama and black top, she takes out her kando stick and with a quick twirl placed the end of it under his chin. "I wouldent need armor, because the skill I have would show that I mean business, understand?" She says with a smirk.
- Hinote Kagari has posed:
Hinote Kagari eek! Did the upperclassman almost hit him in the chin. He kinda eeks! "Woah... hey. Costume armor is pretty heavy, not like...." like real armor? He doesn't finish that statement. "--Look, It's just ridicolous. and unweildy, but I still need to move fluidly, else, well... you've not conveying much to the audience except you're terrible at acting, you know?" he asks, rubbing the back of his head.
"The good guy gets to wear this sleek, silver armor and doesn't even need to deal with the ridicolous helmet." he sighs.
"I just need more practice in it before showtime." he says, blowing his bangs upwards with a sigh.
"Tryouts for what, by the way?" he asks offhandedly.
- Rurako Doji has posed:
Rurako Doji chuckles. "Oh? You don't read much manga do you? Most of the bad guys have an element aside from 'heavy stupid armor that any compitent swordsman or swordswoman can pick apart.'" She says as she shakes her head. "The kendo club, I'm the captain of the team, and we are holding tryouts, anyone can come and give it a try... why don't you stop by, at the very least you will learn the fundimentals of useing a sword, and get a good workout, you might like it too."
- Hinote Kagari has posed:
Hinote Kagari COULD use sword practice..... Gao's been pressing him to practice when he can, anyways... "I think I will! I could use the practice ---um! My name's Hinote Kagari." he asides. He sighs, and shrugs as he puts his arms out to either side. "Well..." he says with a sigh.. "the villian I'm playing is supposed to be good with a sword. But it also keeps falling apart because the stage director can't be bothered to get it fixed." he sighs.
"But pretending to fight isn't really like fighting at all. It's just. Cheorgraphy."
- Rurako Doji has posed:
Rurako Doji nods and smiles. "Usualy a sword breakds because you hit it with the grain." She says with a nod. "Even wooden ones do so, so when you make a state sword, have the grain longways, not horizontal, that way, it's harder to break it." She finishes, and them smiles. "Doji, Rurako, it's nice to meet you Kohai, and besides, choriagraphed or not, the reflex and coordination can make said moves more realiztic."
- Hinote Kagari has posed:
Hinote Kagari blinks, and frowns and rubs the back of his head. "Plastic, actually. Just the blade keeps falling out of it's base. I don't think they're letting the epoxy cure or something. A wooden sword that size would be too heavy to use properly. We use wood for the smaller ones." he smiles.
"And you're right! Which is why I'm coming, if I can make it." he asides. Afterall, A princess might call for his aide at ANYTIME. He's still secretly getting over that fact and it makes him smile to himself.
"Nothing should come up though, so I should be good to attend!" he beams.
- Rurako Doji has posed:
Rurako Doji nods and smiles. "Good, we have equipment for you to use but... maybe you should get a kendo stick, to practice on your own, who knows, you could be on the tourmiment team if you are good enough." And THATS her goal, to build a team of five to wipe the floor with the other schools' teams. "Plastic, but.. they dont make the propper sound when struk together..."
- Hinote Kagari has posed:
Hinote Kagari thinks. "Well... I.. wouldn't know a good kendo stick." he says as he crosses his arms and thinks. "C..can I just buy one? or do I need to buy one balanced for my height and weight and stuff like that?" he asks, scratching his head. "Ugh, I have a feeling I'm in over my head already!" he admits. "Besides, the prop swords from the drama club aren't really good kendo material, I don't think." he grins a bit. "Too western looking. You know. Flat blades. Pointy tip. Diamond shaped."
- Rurako Doji has posed:
Rurako Doji chuckles and motions for him to follow her. 'Well, a kendo stick is a tool used in kendo, hence the name, and most are the same size, though, you can get a custom one, I would suggest for your first one you get the average sized one." She says, her's however, while the longest length allowed, is thinner then the others, with addded weight so that it's still fair. "But it's more then just useing a swor,d there is body contitioning, that and if you can't score a fast point ,endurance comes into play." She says as they come upan the Kendo Dojo, and she unlocks and slides open the door, turning the light on.
Inside it's pristine, and well kept, and unlike the rest of te school, a call back to feudal japan. She walks over to the kendo sticks on the wall, and takes one from it, before tossing it at Hinote. "That, is your average stick, leather grip, and lathed bamboo, though you can change the texture of the grip if you wish."
- Hinote Kagari has posed:
Hinote Kagari catches the sword, and juggles it for a moment because he's a little klutz-like, but it doesn't hit the ground. He whews, and places the handle in his hand and tries arcing it up, and around his body a bit as he looks around the dojo. The feel of the sword feels... familar. He brings it down as he huhs. "That's not tooooo bad." he says. "Not throwing off my balance like the big prop swords..." he murmurs a bit.
- Rurako Doji has posed:
Rurako Doji smiles and nods. "Be glad it's not a real katana, it's alot heavey then just steel, when you think on the blade abit." She says as she walks over to him and smiles. "OK, lession one, the nine basic attacks, easy to remeber." She says as she points to a striking dummy. "Imagine this like a clock, at the top you have twelve, then one thirty, then three, four thirty then six, seven thirty then nine, and finaly you have ten thirty." She says with a smile, some strikes are uoward while others are downward. "Then you have a simple thrust, right in the middle of it all. Thease nine attacks are the basis of any sword play. Come give them a try."
- Hinote Kagari has posed:
Hinote Kagari walks over to the dummy and blinks. He narrows his eyes a bit. He can imagine there's a clock there, he tries for 'four thirty' strike, bringing the blade down on the dummy. This causes the sword to thumb against the body. "Do I just... hit it. Or am I trying to follow through?" he asks.
"Like. Slash it? Or hack into it?" he asks.
- Rurako Doji has posed:
Rurako Doji chuckles. "Hit hit it, in a kendo duel you arent actualy cutting into your enemies." She says with a smile. "if I wanted you to do that, I'd hand you a real sword." She says. "Start at twelve and just hit them, it;s an exersize to gai nmuscle memory, you learn the strikes and how them hit, then you also learn, their movements as you proactice, and how each attack has a defense against it. thats also where speed will come into play, if you are faster... for a novice, speed plays a deffinate role."
- Hinote Kagari has posed:
Hinote Kagari thinks back to the other day. He frowns to himself, but over something else. He seems a bit troubled suddenly as he thinks about this, raising the sword, at twelve, hitting the dummy, then moving over to the next 'clock' placement, as he thinks. "Not sure about speed...." he ponders. "I mean, I guess I'm quick?" he asks.
"If I'm going up against other more experienced people, I'm probably not getting very far tommrow." he admits. "Heck, even someone else who's been doing this for a month'll be better than me." he smirks lightly.
- Rurako Doji has posed:
Rurako Doji chuckles. "Well, you're lucky then, because I decide who gets in, and besides, no one started out being a good sword user, you have to get better at it." She says as she watches him. "loosen your wrists, it causes less strain on your arms, and widen your stance abit, the balance is crucial." She instructs.
- Hinote Kagari has posed:
Hinote Kagari kind of thinks on this. "I guess you're right...." he says, he grips the sword a little tighter and tries to move back an inch from the target, and give it another good whap! He purses his lips a bit. "This feels a little different than....." he blinks. "Then a prop sword." he stutters a bit. He rests the sword on his shoulder a moment.
"But, this /is/ good practice..." he muses. "What kind of commitment do you expect from your members anyways?" he asks curiously.
- Rurako Doji has posed:
Rurako Doji smiles. "Just to get better, each week. Maybe attend the club once a week if you are busy, but if you arent, I'd expect more." She says as she twirls her own kendo stick. "Forget the dummy, come at me, allow me to show you the blocks!" She says as she takes a ready stance. "Don't worry, I'll only counter ONE of your attacks." She says, which is fair, in her mind. "You have to know what you're defending against anyway." She says, and for some reason, her usual deadpan demeanor has faded, and she looks happy... she really does enjoy her sport.
- Hinote Kagari has posed:
Hinote Kagari turns to face Rurako and blinks. "Well... um. If you're fine with me trying to hit you...." he says as he readies the sword again. He's obviously 'getting the gist' of it, but-- he's so obiously painfully new. He raises his sword and tries for a simple, downwards, twelve-o'clock strike. He'll mix it up with his strikes every so often, but he's doing his best to give it his all.
He seems to narrow his eyes a bit, in thought for a moment. "I should make the others come in for this, too. You know. I mean, in the drama club. Or I can just show them how it's done later!" he asides.
"I mean. If I'm able to show up tommrow. Life is kind of always... up in the air. Ya know?" he asks.
- Rurako Doji has posed:
Rurako Doji moves around with him, and her blocks are one handed, and she even has a few dodges in their as well, though she doesn't attack until he tries another downward strike, the twelve oclock...
A two handed block sends his sword back up, and she comes at him with her own downward strike, aiming for the top of his head, not to crack any bone, but enough for him to possible think of a good counter move for the next time. "Two, slow... rest well Appentice." She says in english as she attempts to land the blow, possibly putting the poor underclassman asleep.
- Hinote Kagari has posed:
Hinote Kagari is letting her block, he figures- 'that's the idea'. What is the idea is the sword coming to his head. "Wo---"
Out like a light! He'll be okay!
- Rurako Doji has posed:
Rurako Doji snickers as she picks up Hinote's kendo stick and then proceeds to place a damp cloth over his head. "He may just make the versity team yet... haha."
