Date of Scene: | 01 December 2015 |
Location: | Mitakihara - Frozen Beach Ice Cream Shop |
Synopsis: | Melanite sets out to build up her energy reserves. Murphy pays her a visit, in the form of Daisuke. |
Cast of Characters: | Daisuke Hansuke, Melanite |
- Melanite has posed:
It's about mid-afternoon on a Tuesday, and classes have just let out. Which means the ice cream shop is full. Everyone has decided, it seems, that this is where they need to be today, and the folks who own the shop are probably laughing all the way to the bank. There seems to be only one seat left open, a table for two in the back corner, one seat occupied by a platinum blonde in a Seishou High boys' uniform.
Kyra has been out and about, these past few days, hunting for traces of the Dark Kingdom. She's found plenty of traces, but so far nothing solid enough to get her in touch with their leadership. So today she's trying out a few gambits of her own, to see who reacts. She wasn't quite counting on the ice cream shop being this full, but it ought to be interesting, certainly!
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke yeah, Ice Cream. Not quite a milkshake, but it'll still get the job done. He has even more on his mind since that weird canine talking girl figured him out because apparently dogs rat him out now. Is anything safe? Can he trust ANYONE at all!? It's upseting now because even when he's careful he's not /being/ careful. This feeling calls for a cold bellyache, the usual cure to his woes.
Oh----darn it's full today. Why. It's /DECEMBER/. Ugh, well. It is a Beach theme. That is helping of course.
He sighs and finds a seat--it's the only seat. And there's someone else sitting on the otherside. He walks on over and....
Ugh--nooo nono not this sickening sense of Deja Vu and feelings. No go away not now. This in fact causes him to freeze up a moment when he walks over to Kyra. It's weird. Maybe not too weird.
"Hi. Mind if I sit here?" he asks rather straightly.
- Melanite has posed:
Kyra blinks and looks up, having just taken the first bite of her sundae. She has yet to trigger the energy-draining crystals she's hidden under the tables... and of course there isn't one at her table. So she holds off on it, for now.
She's too busy blinking in surprise at the boy who's sat down across from her. "Oh... er, hello," she says, her expression rather forcibly casual. "It does seem to be a bit crowded today, doesn't it?"
Where have I seen him before, drat it? There's something about that face, that aura, that sends twinges running through her head. Well, it can't hurt to at least talk to him.
"Go ahead, might as well sit down. Eating alone is never as fun as eating with a friend." She crosses her legs under the table and scoops up another bite of ice cream.
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke sits down. One of those tackily dressed servers come over. He orders a sundae. It comes along. He begins eating it like he has some sort of ice cream problem for a moment. When he closes his eyes from the brainfreeze he ahs, there we go. Ice cooooollldddd nummmbbbbb.
He opens his eyes and sighs. "Thank you." he says. "There's like no place else to sit and I need to sit today." he says as he places his hands on the table a moment in thought. They get folded.
"My name's Daisuke Hansuke. What's yours?" he asks politely as he can. Ugh. ugggggggh. He keeps thinking what Chiba said. It's just Deja Vu. It's a past life. That doesn't matter. What matters now is here. Don't freak out.
It's mostly working.
- Melanite has posed:
No one has told Kyra about past lives. Or about how to deal with it. So she isn't dealing. She's just rolling with it. And it's telling her that she knows Dai, that he's someone who's okay. So she shrugs and smiles as he sits, and doesn't feel odd at all about inviting him to join her.
"Yeah, the place is a lot more popular than I had expected, today." Heck, it's so crowded that even if she did try an energy-drain, it'd likely overload her crystals.
"Kyra Nygaard," she introduces herself. "Just moved into the area about a month ago." She takes another bite of her sundae, savoring the sweet, creamy taste, and nods to him. "Pleasure to meet you."
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke nods. "It's December. It's cold. But the secret is the beach theme. Really. Uminari City is always slower this time of year. No tourists, maybe I should had gone there." he mutters. "But... eh. I wanted to get further away than Verone today." he says.
"Ah--that's an intresting name. Where did you move from?" he asks curiously leaning forward. He can't place the name himself it seems.
Ugh, he bets Ami could... he sighs a bit and continues to eat his ice cream.
"What school you attending? I go to Verone. 10th year." he says.
- Melanite has posed:
"It is, indeed, December," Kyra agrees. "And I'd love to be on a real beach. I hear they have a park somewhere nearby..." She trails off, trying to remember where she'd seen it.
"Up North," is her first answer, "Viking country." She waves it off dismissively. "Not that that matters, really, does it?"
She's already slipped up by using her real name, she doesn't really want it to connect back to the missing girl in Denmark.
"Seishou," is her next answer, "8th year." Eighth? With that uniform? That doesn't quite fit right...
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke doesn't really go out of his way to care about what uniform people wear. He does tap his chin though. Isn't that the high school uniform? He shrugs, he doesn't question it. It's none of his bussiness, it's the school's bussiness. If they cared, they'd do something about it.
"Ah, I see." he says with a smile. "Used to the cold then. I'm not." he says, wrapping his arms around himself demonstrativly.
"I need to dig out my warmer coat. I forgot to do that and now it's getting evening. Gonna be a cold night getting home."
"Not that this is going to help." he's done with his ice cream. He orders another.
"I need more." he says as he politely waves a server down.
- Melanite has posed:
Kyra's smile widens, warm and friendly. "Yes, the cold really doesn't bother me." Especially when she can just steal a little energy from a passerby to fuel a warming spell. "But it's always warmer when you're with a friend than when you're alone."
"I'm glad my uniform includes a coat, though," she adds. "I'm not -totally- immune to the weather. And, well. December." She scoops up a bit more ice cream, chocolate sauce dripping down from her spoon.
"So do I," she agrees, placing her own order once the server arrives. "So, how's Verone treating you? Mountains of homework? Who's the favorite magical-girl among the students?"
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke gets another sundane. He begins also downing this like it's going to turn into a pumpkin in the next five minutes if he doesn't eat it.
"Yeah, This is a blazer, so it helps." he says.
"Well, Verone is nice. Not a lot of homework. Rich school and all--- more important things to do, ya-dah ya-dah." he sighhhhs.
Oh then she asks his favorite magical girl and he chokes.
"Eh?" he asks. "You mean anime?" he asks innocently.
- Melanite has posed:
Kyra gets her own sundae - this one butterscotch - and smiles playfully. "Are you from around here?" she asks, maybe meaning Tokyo, maybe meaning Japan in general.
She leans back in her seat for a long moment, staring at her ice cream, then lifts her spoon to take a bite. "Sounds like a pretty good deal. They spend a lot on their sports teams?"
"Yeah... seems like they're pretty popular these days, and there's a bunch of shows."
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke just immediatly replies. "Well, Sailor V of course." he says. Smug smile.
He scarfs ice cream, here comes another numb headache. Yesssssss.
"Well." he says. "Kind of." he says. "They throw around a lot of money, it's all ... old money.. and that. ugh. I wanted to go to a public school but dad's alumni so..."
He sighs.
"Ice Cream and Milkshakes are my happy place. It's just been a rough few days. Feeling harder to deal with some things." he says as he sighs. "Wondering when things will stop springing up on me, all that."
- Melanite has posed:
"Ice cream and milkshakes... MMmm. THat makes for a nice happy pleace... a bit chilly, but it warms the heart, doesn't it?" She takes a scoop of ice cream and noms happily.
She lets the ice cream occupy her for a while, swinging her feet while she eats, occasionally looking back up at the still-too-familiar Daisuke. "And I understand completely about following your parents' footsteps. I'm glad I didn't have to worry about mine..."
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke sort of continues eating and then and nods. "Yeah. There's probably better happy places but--- well when you need to forget, nothing like a nice bi-----"
He pauses.
"Wha?" he asks with a blink. He didn't say anything about that. He sort of goes over the conversation in his head. Did he?
- Melanite has posed:
You did, actually. "You said your father went to Verone," she explains, pointing at you with a spoonful of ice cream.
Then she eats the ice cream.
"So I sort of extrapolated from there." She shrugs, casually, and takes another bite.
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke squints. "Oh, yeah. No. I'm not following in dad's footsteps. He's a doc, I'm learning to be a veternarian." he says. "So it goes from there. Really. He's fine with it." he smiles.
"Ha--sorry I don't watch what I say sometimes. But-- yeah." he says.
"I'm trying to do my own thing. Just... School and all keeps things smoother with the rest of the family." he mutters a little.
- Melanite has posed:
"So you're putting your own spin on it. Good, that's good," she says, with another smile. "And a vet! You like animals? I love cats."
"I really haven't decided what I'm going to do," she says, a few moments later. "I've got time to make up my mind, though." She looks down at the quickly-disappearing sundae. "I like learning all kinds of stuff." That's ... somehow right for her. It seems straightforward enough, as if it were just something that ought' to be.
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke finishes his ice cream. "Well. I think that's enough." he says as he places his food aside. He smiles.
"It was nice meetng you Nygaard-san." he says, forcing a smile, as politely as he can. Yeah that Deja Vu feeling is still there and it still sucks but as Usagi said...
'people just don't talk about magic, jeeze'
Ugh, but he does want to ask if she has that same feeling. He just shakes his head and keeps it to himself.
"I'm going to need to head home. Thanks for the conversation!" he says as he begins to get up to leave.
- Melanite has posed:
Kyra nods, and leans back in her seat to rest for a moment. "And you as well, Hansuke-san," she says, still trying to remember why she keeps wanting to call him something different. She can't quite remember -what-, though.
She takes a look at her watch, then nods. "I hope we can meet like this again. It's been fun chatting." She pushes the finished sundae back on the table and stretches out, hands reaching high above her head.
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke politely nods, and leaves without issue then, paying for his ice creams on the way out, in the traditional rich manner of 'Credit Card' and then begins out. No doubt, someone else is going to fill that seat soon... still packed.
He opens the door and steps out and looks down and up the street. Hrm. Back to the dorms. Or was there something else to do.
He pulls out his phone...
- Melanite has posed:
... and within the shop, Kyra pounds her head on the table. What the heck was she thinking? She nearly spilled everything! She knows she's seen him before. But certainly nowhere here! And she trusted him. She wanted to tell him about the magic, about the other things she's been finding herself doing. But she knows that'd be wrong. And besides, it's sure he wouldn't approve of how she's been fueling her magic. Not like this.
The whole point of coming here was to drain a little energy from the shop's usual handful of customers. When the flare of frustrated anger from Kyra strikes the crystals, however, they might have... overreacted.
The dark energy flares throughout the shop, reaching out to all of the kids enoying their sugary treats, and grabs hold and yanks... pulling energy back towards the hidden crystals. Even Kyra herself is not immune, caught within the drain from the tables around her, slumping in her seat as she's caught in her own trap. She has just enough time to realize what's happening before her consciousness starts to fade.
"Oh, crap."
- Daisuke Hansuke has posed:
Daisuke Hansuke is writing a text to someone when---- ugh---! something... nrg close. Behind him!? He barges back into the shop, genuinely expecting everyone to stare at him as he overreacts, but no.. everyone is slumped and unconcious and even the workers!? What happened!? The feelings suddenly gone.. nothing seems to be here. He takes a deep breath. Calm down. Calm down. Deep breath.
Did he cause this? He just left. No--that's. Why!?
Nrg. No. Don't let your thoughts go there, Daisuke... call for help.
He pulls out a weird looking phone and whispers into it.
Then he calls Emergency Services. He can't do anything here. There's nothing to do anything for he can fix.
