Synopsis: | After an upsetting attack Homura and Madoka decide to go on their first date as planned and it ends up being just as fun as they'd hoped. And twice as adorable. |
Cast of Characters: | Madoka Kaname, Homura Akemi |
- Madoka Kaname has posed:
It's a decent walk to the south to reach the Clover Tower and the mall that lies beneath it. It gives Madoka enough time to calm the rest of the way down as she walks hand in hand with Homura. She's still feeling stressed out so when they end up in a small ice cream shop she goes for two scoops instead of one, a strawberry on top and a chocolate underneath. The cone it's on isn't enormous so she's walking carefully as she makes her way over to a booth, scooting on the inside and expecting Homura to sit next to her. If she does she'll lean and wrap her free arm around her, causing her to have to be even more cautious with the stacked treat, or if not she'll bide her time for a minute or two before teasing her ankle against her girlfriends under the table.
She lets out a sigh that starts out heavy but ends on a happy note, licking away at the cold strawberry ice cream before it can start to melt and run down her hands. "Mmm, this is really good! I'm glad we decided to come." She keeps at her treat for another few moments before noting, "You know... I think this is the first real date we've been on." She giggles a little and peeks her eyes to Homura's before looking back to her cone.
- Homura Akemi has posed:
Homura Akemi hasn't really stopped being strangely... unlike herself. She's only really stopped being angry. Between Kyubey and Riventon, there was a lot agitating her, and she was glad that Madoka suggested that they leave. Especially since going to the mall was still an option. The thought of having ice cream with Madoka did put a smile on her otherwise gloomy face.
Homura goes for a waffle bowl (inside a paper bowl of course) instead of a cone, not wanting to deal with the prospect of balancing it. In the mindset she's in, she's likely to just absent-mindedly turn her cone sideways and not notice until it was 5 seconds too late. Bowls are more stable. She does go for two scoops, though, one of cookie dough and another of mint chocolate chip. She also gets sprinkles, because she will never be too sad for sprinkles.
She sits next to Madoka, because tryring to hug her over the table would be really awkward. Madoka seems to have the same idea as she wraps one arm around Homura's back, and Homura wraps her own around Madoka's shoulder. Homura sets the bowl down on the table and takes her spoon into her free hand, carving out a bit of ice cream and then eating it.
Homura chuckles at the mention of a date. "Yeah... It is, isn't it? I have to admit I've been looking forward to this." She glances towards Madoka's eyes as she notices her girlfriend looking at her own. She smiles at her before going back to her ice cream. "Thanks for coming here with me."
- Madoka Kaname has posed:
Madoka does notice that Homura is acting odd but doesn't say anything during the walk or while they're getting their treats. She ordered first and thus when Homura goes for a waffle bowl(those exist?!) she feels a bit silly for making her snack more challenging than it had to be. It also makes her more determined not to spill it over, which is probably why she's eating it so quickly. The rule of thumb is to whittle it down to be no wider than the cone it sits on and she's making progress on just that. The fact that she doesn't have sprinkles on her ice cream either... there may be just a tinge of jealousy in her eyes. "Next time I'm going to get a sundae instead of a cone," she insists.
She's quite happy to snuggle close as Homura's arm goes around her shoulder, able to relax even more with her girlfriends arm around her. "Me too. There's been a lot happening but we shouldn't let it affect our love life." She giggles playfully because even if they haven't gone on dates they have spent a lot of time together. "Mmhm! Thanks for bringing me. It's fun getting to do things with you."
Her ice cream successfully whittled down to the point where it isn't in danger of melting fast enough to be a danger to her hands, Madoka is quiet a moment. Her arm shifts a bit, pulling it a bit closer to herself and moving to rub Homura's back with her hand rather than just rest it against her. "...are you okay, Homura-chan?" she asks in a slightly quieter tone. "I could only see and hear a little of what happened... but I can't see how seeing something as crazy and creepy as you did today wouldn't be upsetting."
- Homura Akemi has posed:
Homura's not eating as fast as Madoka. On the other hand, she doesn't have as much pressure. She is making progress, but she's also taking her time. A smile flashes across her face at the mention of Madoka getting a sundae instead next time. "Of course. Whatever you'd like, dear." She doesn't quite notice Madoka's jealousy, though she might be a bit generous with her sprinkles if she did.
Homura's embrace is... loose. At ease maybe, or lazy. It's a very casual hug. "There has been a lot. Even moreso than usual, recently. Seems like we can't catch a break without something getting in our way, but at least we can still manage to pull away from all that."
When Madoka is quiet, Homura notices the rub against her back. Madoka asks if she's okay. Homura wonders what even qualifies as 'okay' for her anymore. There's a silence from Homura as she considers her answer, and when she speaks it's with a soft voice.
"I just... it wasn't just that the... thing looked like me. I had to reveal a weakness of mine in front of Sayaka-san, and the way she talked it sounded like she might use it against me..." Homura frowns noticably, taking a moment to eat her ice cream. "I don't want to get into a fight with her. If she gets aggressive I'm just going to timestop and walk away."
Homura spends a moment playing with her food, moving the sprinkles around in the part of the ice cream that's already melted. "Also... that monster must have read my mind or something, because... remember how I said yesterday that I didn't want to talk about it? Well, she talked about it. I didn't need that. Not in front of Riventon of all people."
- Madoka Kaname has posed:
Madoka doesn't mind that Homura's arm isn't holding her tightly. The fact that it's there at all is comforting. The only thing that worries her is that most of the time Homura holds her close; the chance in behavior not the action itself.
"Hehe, thank you," she replies when the sundae idea goes over well and whatever tinge of jealousy there was over sprinkles is gone because next time she'll have sprinkles, hot fudge, whipped cream AND a cherry!
Can't catch a break huh? That sounds about right. The fun close times they've had together ever since Walpurgisnacht seems to have been in spite of their situation rather than because of it. It's certainly a good thing they have each other to turn to; Madoka's very thankful for that. It's just hard to be carefree when so many bad things are happening around you. The New Years dance was only a little over a month ago but it feels so much longer.
As Homura admits her worries to and her grievances to her Madoka keeps rubbing her back, stroking back and forth, up and down between her shoulder blades. "Kyubey said it was some kind of construct. The strange thing is... it's emotions were real, but different from yours. He even wondered if it might be able to turn into a witch." She doesn't like bringing Kyubey up, not now. But she thinks having the information might help.
Hearing that Sayaka might use Homura's weakness against her puts a small frown on Madoka's face and she goes back to her ice cream again for a little while. "Thanks," she eventually says. "For walking away if it comes to that. Hopefully it won't but... thank you for going easy on Sayaka-chan."
Madoka 'bites' off the top of her ice cream with her lips while listening a little more, only to turn her head towards Homura and give her a sympathetic look when she talks about the fake Homura spilling her emotional burden laundry, some of the dirties kind, right out in the open in front of her enemies. "I'm sorry. You didn't deserve that. I didn't hear any of it and you don't have to tell me, but I'm sorry that people did that you didn't want to know. "
- Homura Akemi has posed:
"A construct. I could believe that." Homura considers what Madoka tells her. "It certainly had different emotions than me, if it felt like blabbing about all of that was even a good idea... and well... you heard the way it threatened you. Or maybe you didn't. It doesn't matter, though. It can't threaten anyone anymore."
Could something like that turn into a witch? Homura wonders. "It would be very strange if it could, but I guess we won't find out. I wonder what kind of witch it would become if it did become one. If its emotions were different, then the witch might turn out to be very different, too. At least... I think that's how it works."
Homura hasn't ever seen her own witch, so it's not like she'd have anything to compare it to.
Madoka rubbing on her back is nice. It's comfort. It's sweet. It something Homura needs more of, though she wonders if there's enough comfort in the world to really help her.
When Madoka thanks her on the subject of Sayaka, she says, "You're welcome, but... I have to admit that I don't like meaningless fights either. I guess if that means I'm going easy on her... well, I guess I am." She holds up her spoon, licked free of ice cream, and points with it. "It'd undermine a lot of our efforts if Sayaka-san wasted a lot of magic like that. If we intend to prevent a worse case scenario, then that's exactly the kind of thing I'd have to avoid."
Homura listens to Madoka's response regarding her dirty laundery being spilt out in public. "Thank you." Should she explain it? Nah. "It's... not really worth talking about anyways."
Homura goes back to consuming her ice cream, and gently tightens her hug around Madoka, leaning towards her instead of pulling Madoka closer so as to not mess up her cone accidentally.
- Madoka Kaname has posed:
"I didn't know what was going on... I knew it wasn't anything like you though, because you would never talk about me like that." That answers the question of whether or not Madoka heard it taking about her well enough. "Actually... if anything I'd almost say it was the exact opposite of you, personality wise. I've never known you to run around telling secrets. If there's something that needs to be kept private you only tell people when you think they need to know."
Madoka nods in agreement to it being strange. "It wouldn't think it'd be possible except that it looked like it had a Soul Gem like yours. Kyubey couldn't tell whether it was a real one or not, though he was pretty far away." She frowns a little, "If something's a construct, would it even have a soul? Did you destroy it by breaking it's Soul Gem?"
Homura doesn't see it as going easy Sayaka? At once Madoka feels happy and somewhat embarrassed for herself. "Well... you're a veteran and she's a rookie, right? If she hunts Witches that means you can't get them, so it's competition. That was... the first big downside I heard about being a Puella Magi, so maybe it stuck with me... But if you're not looking at it that way then I'm glad! Though to be honest you've never given me reason to think you looked at that way yourself, you've only warned me that some Puella do."
Madoka is not going to think that just because everyone else got to see her best friend and girlfriends weaknesses and sore points put on parade that she has a right to hear them as well. If Homura doesn't want to say she isn't going to press, not even the tiniest bit. If she wanted to tell her she would and she just made it pretty clear she'd rather not, so Madoka lets it go. When the dark haired girl leans into her she slips her arm around her the rest of the way, her rubbing going to her upper arm. She's more than happy to offer comfort and support as well as receive it. She just hopes it's actually helping.
She spends some time attacking her ice cream, and soon the strawberry is gone. Then on an impulse she asks turns her head towards her and asks, "Homura-chan?" in a tone that begs for eye contact, and if she gets it leans in and gives her a soft, slow kiss. It is a date, after all!
When she pulls away she giggles before noting playfully, "Your lips are cold." Hers are too!
- Homura Akemi has posed:
Homura nods and makes an 'mm' noise as Madoka says that the Nullheart was more like an opposite. "Yeah... it talked about protecting you, but I don't think it really... loved you. It's more like it was just trying to upset me." Which it did, if Homura's earlier screaming was any indication.
Homura shrugs at the question of the Soul Gem. "Honestly? I hit it with a few RPGs. Then some weird orb came out of its mouth and cracked, and that seemed to be what killed it. It's possible that hitting it with explosives damaged the Soul Gem, but I don't really know for sure, and the way it died didn't make it seem likely."
On the subject of Sayaka, Homura listens. She pushes her ice cream around in the waffle bowl a bit, letting the melted ice cream soak into the waffle. Then she takes another spoonful and eats it while Madoka's talking. "It's true that there are some Puella Magi who think that way, but that's not a good mindset. Imagine for example if someone took on an attitude like that. Either Mami-san or Kyouko-san or myself would take them out... or they'd actually succeed only to get wiped out by something like Walpurgisnacht. You might be surprised at how often the 'wise' thing to do happens to also be the 'right' thing to do, and the same thing goes for 'foolish' things and 'wrong' things. Maybe that's justice, in a way."
After eating another spoonful of ice cream, Homura adds, "Aside from that... it does kindof piss me off when some veteran tries to push rookies around. I wouldn't want to do that."
Homura looks up as Madoka calls her name, looking into those pink eyes as they get closer and her lips brush against Madoka's. Mmm. Ice cream kisses.
Homura giggles at the comment about her lips. "Yours too, Madoka-chan."
- Madoka Kaname has posed:
Madoka nods a little, "And I sure didn't love it. Anything that would try to hurt my Homura-chan like that, with weapons or with words, isn't going to get any love from me." The fact that it did manage to get under Homura's skin is what upsets Madoka the most. Some cheap visual knock off construct is just the equivalent of a cheap magical parlor trick. It'd be bad enough if merely hurt her feelings, but seriously depressing a Puella can kill them. It's like words being able to break bones right beside the sticks and stones.
"That was it?" Madoka asks, seriously surprised. Not that RPGs are a /weak/ attack but magical girls are surprisingly resilient. On the scale between 1 and 'getting hit with a building' it's probably somewhere in the middle, and Homura's survived the building part before, even if it meant her battle was over, according to her words at the meeting. "Spitting an orb out when it looked like it had a Soul Gem on it's hand, that doesn't sound like a real Puella Magi at all. Honestly it really sounds like that horrible man was doing this just to make you angry. What a jerk. He could at least show a little respect after you helped save the entire city."
Madoka's face is indignant, perhaps childishly, as she goes back to eating her ice cream. She's neglected it for long enough that she needs to hurriedly lick up the melted chocolate ice cream before it gets onto her fingers. It was close! Dribbles made it to the cone edge but not past.
She communicates nonverbally as she listens to Homura speak about Puella, mostly nodding along to show that she's paying attention. She smiles a little at the mention that there might be some justice in how things work out, and squeezes Homura against her by her arm around her when she mentions not liking people pushing rookie Puella around.
After the kiss Madoka blushes and licks her lips, only to blush more and comment, "And they taste like mint." She mostly manages to keep a semi straight face until her shoulders start shaking, breaking out into a small fit of giggles a moment later. When it's over her smile is wide and bright, and she looks deeper into Homura's eyes before trying to lean in for another kiss.
She doesn't seem to care at all that there are other people around or that they might be watching.
- Homura Akemi has posed:
Homura smiles, and then giggles, as she hears Madoka say she wouldn't give any love to that monster. It means a little something extra to her since the person saying it is someone who gives her love. Her smile is a bit mischevious.
Homura nods as Madoka asks if that was it. "Yeah I mean... It kept getting beat up and Riventon kept restoring it with his energy, so instead of depending on bullets I used explosives in the hopes that it'd take more energy to heal that thing than it was worth. Apparently that did the trick." On the subject of making her angry, Homura shrugs. "He does that a lot apparently. I think he's starting to like it."
Madoka comments on Homura's mintly lips, and Homura winks at her. "Well, how else am I supposed to stay minty fresh? And speaking of getting fresh--" Homura leans in for another kiss, but Madoka beats her to the punch. She draws out the kiss, holding Madoka close to her side. Are there other people around? Homura doesn't notice them. She didn't really pay attention when she was holding Madoka's hand, and she certainly isn't going to start now.
After a sweet moment, Homura pulls away from the kiss. She reaches over to her waffle bowl and breaks off an edge. She uses the shard of waffle to scoop up a bit of cookie dough ice cream and holds it up, trying to feed it to Madoka.
Why feed Madoa? Because she's being especially cute right now, that's why.
- Madoka Kaname has posed:
When Homura giggles again it's music to Madoka's ears; the sound of happiness coming from the person she wants to make happy the most. Mischievous smiles are met with sweet ones of her own.
It kept getting beaten up and having to be healed? That actually gets a giggle out of Madoka, "It sounds like it didn't really stand a chance to the real thing." And because she's in a flirty mood now she adds, "In love or war." The fact that Riventon is making a habit of pestering Homura and angering her get a huffy frown. Madoka doesn't like people upsetting her girlfriend at all! And Riventon is one person that Madoka doesn't feel any need to appeal for or mitigate. A perfect storm for a rare sight.
The wink gets an even brighter blush, and as she smiles her bright blush intensifies from the sneaky line! But blushing isn't going to stop Madoka from kissing, especially when she's been told before that her blushes are cute.
She makes a soft, "Mmm," as they kiss this time and lets out a happy sigh once it's parted to help show just how much she enjoyed it. She rubs Homura's arm some more, now in a bit less of a consolatory fashion and in more of an enjoying one.
Then the piece of waffle is broken off and rather than eating it herself Homura is offering it to her. She opens her mouth and closes her eyes, leaning forward and making a soft, "Ahhhhn~," taking it gently from Homura's fingers with her lips and than eating it. The pretty black haired girl gets brownie points even though she might not realize it because it had sprinkles with it!
"Thank you," she says in a sweet tone, "It was especially good because it was Homura-chan's and she gave it to me." Then with a giggle she tries breaking off a piece of Homura's waffle bowl and scooping up a bit of her own slightly melty chocolate ice cream from her cone and feed it to Homura.
- Homura Akemi has posed:
Homura giggles even more at Madoka's comments, about how the Nullheart didn't stand a chance against her. Giggles give way to blushing as Madoka says, 'In love or war', and Homura smiles all the wider.
Madoka's blushes are cute. Homura leans forward to kiss her blushing cheeks, because they are her girlfriend's cheeks and her girlfriend's blushes and she is so cute so how could she not?
The kiss to the lips lingers a bit longer, and Homura leans her head on Madoka's as the pink-haired girl rubs her arm. Homura makes a tiny 'squee' sound as Madoka accepts the offered waffle bit with an 'Ahhhhn~'
"I'm glad you like it!" Madoka's reasons for liking it even more are stated, and Homura blushes. "I will always love you, my adorable Madoka-chan."
When Madoka returns the favor, breaking off a piece of the waffle bowl and uses it to feed Homura some of Madoka's chocolate, Homura opens her mouth and imitates the same "Ahhhhn~" sound that Madoka made. She playfully closes her lips around Madoka's fingers, softly pulling away with the ice cream and waffle bit caught in her teeth.
She chews, crunching up the bit of waffle, and after she swallows she whispers sweetly, "Thank you, my little angel."
Homura moves in to give Madoka another sweet, long kiss. The hugging and kissing might slow down their ice cream eating progress a bit, but Homura doesn't mind if Madoka doesn't. The kisses are just too good, and Homura's enjoying them so much.
- Madoka Kaname has posed:
Madoka smiles brightly when her words put a blush on Homura's cheeks, and she squirms happily in her seat next to Homura when her blushing cheeks are kissed, "Aww~!" It makes her smile all the wider too and in this happy moment Madoka forgets completely about things like witches and evil doppelgangers.
The cute noise Homura makes as she feeds the ice cream to Madoka draws a giggle from her and she has to be extra careful to take the ice cream, but she manages it wonderfully.
"It was delicious," Madoka responds playfully. Homura blushes again and Madoka simply can not resist leaning in and kissing her on the cheeks as well, only to look her in the eyes while receiving the sweet compliment. "And I'll always love you, my wonderful sweet Homura-chan."
Madoka is struggling to keep not a straight face but an only moderately happy one as she feeds the ice cream covered waffle chip to Homura, something her girlfriend quickly puts an end to by giving a kiss to her fingers while taking the waffle with her teeth. The pink haired girl lets out a teasing, "Eek!" and draws her fingers away extra slow.
That sweet pet name is invoked again and Madoka blushes happily once more, happy tingles running up her spine and then spreading warmly through her. "You're welcome, my darling Homura-chan."
Always she seems to use Homura's name, but the way she says it isn't like she says any other. It's special. 'Homura-chan' has special meaning to her beyond what a normal name might have. 'Homura-chan' is the person who's given so much for her and cares about her more than anyone she's ever known. She's completely irreplaceable and Madoka wouldn't ever want to even if she could.
Madoka accepts the kiss and seems to melt into it, making a happy sound again as their lips meet and not daring to part on her own, staying close and kissing for just as long as Homura wants. If Homura leaves it up to Madoka they're going to end up with a warm milkshake.
And while she snuggles closer she reaches over and carefully flops the half-scoop of chocolate ice cream and her cone upside down into Homura's bowl so she can reach over and hug her with both arms. They were already sharing anyway, and right now the sweetest thing isn't the ice cream, but rather her girlfriends kisses.
