Real V. Fake

Location:	Mitakihara - Frozen Beach Ice Cream Shop
Synopsis:	A run in with Hoshi leads Rena to let her in on her new secret. It also leads to the discussion about what it means to be fake.

Rena Sakai has posed:
Its been along day. Day two of having Dabble in school with her, Rena is seriously thankful that the fairy can hide well enough. Usually taking the form of a watch face for her watch, it hasn't stopped the fairy from talking out of turn in class. During science today she tried to argue with the teacher. This wouldn't be so bad, except that Dabble's voice coming from Rena's direction, just made things bad for the girl. Quickly she put her hand over the watch and muffled her out. After a little Damage Control, things smoothed over.

Now, School is out and Rena has opted to go get some ice cream. Its as good a call as any. As she makes her way into the shop she would seem a little crazy, talking to herself and what not. "You can't do that in school! You're going to get me in trouble! Imagine what would happen if they found out that you are in school with me! They'd expell me and study on you! Do You really wanna risk that?"

Then a soft voice rings out from her new shiny watch. "But your teacher was wrong! I know more about that stuff then he could ever hope to! I've been working with metals for years! I'm telling you, Copper is superior to titanium in every way."

"Except when it comes to strength and resisting heat."

"You're all just not working it right! If its done right, nothing is stronger!" The fairy snips back.

Hoshi Kogane has posed:
Hoshi was going to get some ice cream of her own, just because. She's going into the shop when she sees Rena, and hears the voice from that watch. A star pops out on Hoshi's shoulder, pointing a telegraph at the other girl. "Who are you talking to, Sakai-san?" Hoshi asks on the approach, smiling brightly.

Rena Sakai has posed:
Rena Sakai blushes brightly, "Err. Umm. No one. Really!" She looks around at the crowded shop. "Tell you what, Lets get ice cream and find somewhere quiet to talk." Rena looks more then a little frazzled. Also like she's not been sleeping well. The fact that she is wearing a very fine watch when she wasn't wearing one before might stand out rather well. She quickly gets in line. "How are you doing Hoshi? Things going alright." She's actually doing well enough, ignoring the stars this time.

Hoshi Kogane has posed:
"Sure." Hoshi has noticed the watch, but doesn't call it out. Instead, she just follows along smiling. "You look tired." She mentions, though, a little but of concern in her voice. Just a little. "I'd like some vanilla and strawberry, please?" She mentions her preferences, and yes, now that Rena has suggested it Hoshi is assuming Rena is buying.

Rena Sakai has posed:
"Yeah, its been a rough few nights." Rena looks at the clerk and smiles, "Umm, Chocolate peanut butter cup please, triple scoop in a dish please." She states and grabs a spoon. At least it'll be yummy. Quickly she pays or both her and Hoshi. Sure she wasn't expecting to pay for both but, ah well. Its nice helping others out. "Okay ummm, Lead the way to somewhere quiet."

Hoshi Kogane has posed:
Hoshi takes her ice cream, and no spoon, just quick careful licks as she goes for a quiet spot near the back of the parlor. This time of the year, it should be plenty out of the way. "Rough in what way?" A star with a nurse hat, holding a tiny ear thermometer pops into existence and starts flying towards Rena's ear.

Rena Sakai has posed:
Rena Sakai can't help but giggle over the star trying to take her temperature. "Well..." She trails off and looks down at the watch for a moment. "Dabble, come out. You You are safe."

In a quick poof of steam, a little fairy springs off the face of the watch. She is cute, looking like a plush animal of some sort. She is wearing a top hat and a Victorian style dress coat. "Hello!" The fairy states to Hoshi, taking her hat off and giving a little bow. She also gives a little wave to the silly Stars. "My name is Dabble. I'm from Gearwork. A pleasure to meet you. You aren't a Sentinel but I can sense a lot of energy in you. Are you magical too?" She asks curiously.She quickly moves over and starts investigating Hoshi.

Hoshi Kogane has posed:
"I am magical." Hoshi says without reservation, making a little bow towards Dabble. "I'm still new at this, but I'm working on getting used to it. I have friends who have been doing this for a long time now." A star pops up into the air with a monocle and a top hat, it tips that hat to Dabble. "I'm Hoshi Kogane."

Rena Sakai has posed:
Dabble bows to the star politely and then walks over to sniff at Rena's Ice cream, "Ooh! That smells delightful! Might I try a little?" She asks curiously.

Rena just blinks a few times, "Ummm Sure. I Guess." She reaches over and grabs another spoon, this one in a dispenser on the table. She takes a little bit of the ice cream and offers it to Dabble.

Dabble sniffs it and then gives it a lick. "Its really cold! It's making my tongue numb!" Then the flavor sets in. "Oh wow! This is absolutely Shiny! I love this! May I have a little more? Please?" She bats her eyes cutely.

Rena takes her spoon and gives her a little more. Then her attention goes to Hoshi. "Apparently I am too now. This watch did some crazy stuff to me the other night. I wound upin a really messed up situation. I wanted to call you and Kukai but I couldn't Not without getting into a worse jam. I was hiding and this guy... He was trying to take Dabble away. He did something to one of my friends and, I just wanted to help her. This watch started ticking and well, she slapped it on my wrist!"

Hoshi Kogane has posed:
Hoshi giggles at Dabble's fascination with ice cream, she seems immensely amused by it. She takes a few more licks of her own while listening to Rena's summary of events. "Huh. Well, I kinda suspected you might be magical." Hoshi admits quietly, "Though I wasn't sure in what way. Nonmagical people can't see my stars."

Rena Sakai has posed:
Rena Sakai takes a deep breath, "I'm something called a Steam Sentinel. Apparently I'm supposed to save the world. Two of them actually. No pressure or anything right?" She looks very nervous over the whole thing. "So yes, Fun right? This guy, he put a sprocket on my friends head and it sorta sucked her soul into it. She then turned into a giant monster called a cog." She shrugs and fishes into her bag and pulls out some cookies. These are a bit dark. Turns out being so sleepy has affected her baking. "Someone likes to work late at night and wake me up!" She glares at Dabble for that one.

Hoshi Kogane has posed:
Hoshi looks at the cookies with hungry eyes. Snacks! Tasty, tasty homemade snacks. "That sounds weird. Nothing like how the things I'm supposed to fight work, though I am supposed to save the world." She licks her ice cream, lickity lick, alternating between strawberry and vanilla. "How many different ways is the world being threatened anyway?"

Rena Sakai has posed:
Rena Sakai shrugs, "This is my third day as a Magical girl. I'm pretty sure you have a better idea then I do." She slides a bag of the dark cookies over to Hoshi. "Here you go. I got more. I wish I could of done a little better on them." Then she uses her spoon to put ice cream between two of the cookies. Thats right, Ice cream cookie sandwiches! She noms on it happily. "Anyway, from what I've gathered, these people who were after Dabble, they are drawn to people who pretend to be different from themselves. You know people who are fake?"

Hoshi Kogane has posed:
"Uhhh... I dunno what you're talking about." Hoshi sounds genuinely confused, the idea of masking the real you appears to be completely alien to her. "Could you, like ... try explain what you mean?" She gets back to licking her icecream, hoping Rena will be able to explain.

Rena Sakai has posed:
Rena Sakai thinks for a moment. She makes a cute little face as she does this and then, "Have you ever wanted to be a part of something so bad that you changed yourself just so you could fit in. Not like improving yourself, studying and the like but, think of it like putting on a mask. A person pretending to be someone they aren't so they can fit in with a different group? Does that make sense?"

Hoshi Kogane has posed:
"Nope. Never thought of that, that sounds weird." Hoshi is too much naturally social for that to ever be a concern, she's got friends in the scores. "I mean I guess if that's what you have to do to make friends... that really just sounds sad, though. Why would people not want to be friends with someone unless they're pretending to not be themselves?"

Rena Sakai has posed:
Rena Sakai frowns, "As people get older, they sorta lose sight of that. Sometimes fitting in is the most important thing to some people. People like to tease others who are weird or do strange things. They just Its a really sad thing."

Dabble speaks up. She is currently covered in ice cream, "Red Tree is drawn to that sort of thing. The entire company only accepts people who are like them. Anyone else is inefficient and is to be made like them. When they find someone who tries to blend in, they make them into a cog in their evil machine."

Hoshi Kogane has posed:
"That sounds really mean." Hoshi sounds kind of genuinely upset by that, looking down and kind of ignoring her ice cream. "If you want help stopping them, I'll try to do what I can." She offers softky, "Let me know, okay?" She doesn't even notice that her cream is drooping a little to the side, a big chunk threatening to fall off and dirty her clothes.

Rena Sakai has posed:
Rena Sakai nods, "From what Dabble's told me, This Red Tree organization had pretty much taken over their planet. Its really bad. The Steam Sentinels on that world have been defeated and forced into their organization. I'm the only one on Earth so far. I hope others awaken soon. Fighting off That lunatic who hurt my friend, I don't know if I can do it again. Its really freaky!"

Hoshi Kogane has posed:
And thus, icecream slips from Hoshi's cone and onto her skirt. She suddenly noticed the cold, and eeps, quickly licking her ice cream to prevent the rest from doing the same. "That sounds really bad. I hope you get help soon, and if you can't get their help, I'll still help. Promise."

Rena Sakai has posed:
Rena Sakai smiles, "Thank you! That is really kind. I am hoping I can manage this. Its really scary for me to be honest. That Craft guy, he's insane! He said he'd leave if he could have Dabble but, I couldn't let him take her. Does that make sense?""

Hoshi Kogane has posed:
"That makes total sense. It sounds like he's up to no good, and if he wants Dabble then of course he wants her because that's no good." Hoshi's logic makes sense to her, at least. She finishes up her ice cream, "I'd give you my phone number but you already have it. So that's good."

Rena Sakai has posed:
Rena Sakai finishes off her ice cream sandwich and giggles a little over it. "At least it's a yummy way to eat ice cream right?" SHe giggles some more. She looks at Dabble and shakes her head, "What are we going to do with you. You can't get on the watch like that, you'll clog up the gears!"

"I'll worry about keeping the watch in working order. You probably think it needs some weird crazy digitaly thing in it!" Dabble retorts smugly.

Hoshi Kogane has posed:
Hoshi looks at her own watch, it's in her defense an analog one, and blinks. "I need to go, I was just going to get something nice for myself to eat while going home. If I'm not going home soon I'll be late." She gets up and bows, "I'm really sorry."

Rena Sakai has posed:
Rena Sakai laughs, "Okay Hoshi. Be safe. Call me if you need help too! I can actually do stuff now I guess." She blushes and stands up. "Okay Dabble. Just remember you're the one who has to clean it out." The fairy poofs in a cloud of steam and appears as just a face on the watch. That works! "Lets get home for now. Maybe we will go find something to do later."
