Location: | Jadeite's Palace |
Synopsis: | Naru takes her attempt at the fourth day of Inktober to Jadeite's palace. The shrine cat approves of people. The shrine cat does not approve of Jadeite not bringing apology treats. |
Cast of Characters: | Naru Osaka, Jadeite |
- Naru Osaka has posed:
It used to be a common occurance, to find Naru settled under the tree in Jadeite's garden at his palace. A spot where she'd often come and just be. Draw, or sit and think. Hide from the world for a while, or have a safe spot for stupid questions. Of late, there's not been nearly as much Naru in any of the palaces, but a certain recent conversation has prompted a renewed effort. She's brought her sketchbook, and a small palette of watercolours, and the requisite jar of water to go with it. She's not painting though, she's just seated on the ground, watching the leaves ripple on the tree.
- Jadeite has posed:
In all honesty, there hasn't been very much Jadeite in this palace either. The shrine cat has gone without tending, and the shrine has been standing in peaceful solitutde. The komainu guardians have not minded the solitutde - they have each other to bicker with, and they have gone longer without visitors.
The shrine cat however, has not approved. Not at all. It makes this clear by mewing plaintively and kneading Saburo's chest and shoulder with her claws as he futilely attempts to soothe the slighted beast.
He sees Naru, but she looks peaceful, maybe looking for inspiration? Maybe just enjoying the peace. So he settles himself some faint distance away - five or six feet - and flops onto his back in hopes that the shrine cat will accept his defeat.
She does not, but she does offer Naru a chirruping mew and a brief stare as she (gently) continues to maul him.
- Naru Osaka has posed:
Not quite so lost in thought that Naru doesn't turn as Jadeite, and his feline companion, arrive. There's a smile as she watches him get lightly mauled and her tone is vaguely amused. "Should have brought tuna, hmm?" She comments and then gestures to the scene.
"Whenever I come and sit and watch the trees and the breeze and all those who live here, I wonder why I don't visit more often. Although no matter how often you assure me that it's fine, it does feel vaguely invasive to just turn up in any of your guys' palaces." Naru comments as she turns back towards watching the trees again.
- Jadeite has posed:"Definitely should have brought some kind of sacrifice," Saburo sighs. He lifts a hand, and it is immediately the cat's new target, his fingers batted at with her tiny class.
He listens to Naru though, contemplating what she's sharing. "I don't really see it as an invasion. It's more like - when you visit this place, it's more like it reminds it that it's not abandoned, I guess? I mean, I don't think it's super self aware - well the guardians are so maybe it really is? - but, I mean... I think it's nice that you spend time here. You should enjoy it."
- Naru Osaka has posed:
"Usagi brings tuna when she visits with the caracal, or did the one time we visited together. I thought it was a terribly wise choice, but never seem to remember either." Naru reaches to select a brush, swishing it around in the jar of water absently. "I do enjoy it, even if I've been hiding out in the mundane world for too long. I'm glad it feels like I help make it feel appreciated. That's terribly reassuring, and says I should pick up some tuna, really."
- Jadeite has posed:"I don't think this one would object, trust me. More company? Tuna? If it were up to her, those campaign promises would win you the palace."
The cat has finally stopped mauling him, and though his shirt is a mess, he is at least intact. He sits up, cat shifting to his lap, and looks at Naru's supplies.
"What do you think you'll paint today?"
- Naru Osaka has posed:
"I'll keep that in mind, should I ever decide to invade." Naru's wink and laughing tone say that it's not terribly likely.
Naru looks down at her blank page, and pauses in the, by now frankly excessive swishing of brush in water. "Today's prompt is freeze, and I honestly have not even a tiny bit of inspiration on how I'm going to do that one, beyond the obvious. Part of the procrastination really." She looks over at him and adds with a wry tone. "And I hate watercolour, but I'm going to win, dammit. Do you do inktober?"
- Jadeite has posed:Saburo's grin is a response in and of itself, imagining for a moment what it would be like if Naru invaded. Would his shrine gates be repainted?
"I don't," he admits, "I always forget that I'm supposed to be doing it and then I spend ages catching up with speed inks I don't even like. But I'll root for your success! And maybe I can help the brain block? How complicated are you looking for it to be? Something simple? Something colorful?"
