The Frog Girl and the Foreign Girl

Synopsis:	During recess, Kaeru meets a recent transfer student who just seems a little unusual beyond being foreign.

Nicola Esprit has posed:
Recess, and for whatever reason, Nicola has gotten separated from her 'cousin' Bryony. So, she's sitting on a bench, looking up at the sky. She seems a little uncertain what to do, the girl is a new face, just showed up the other day in third grade. The rumour mill says she's some kind of foreigner who transfered in.

Kaeru Aokawa has posed:
A girl with blue hair and blue eyes was bouncing all around, always full of energy. Kaeru Aokawa, the girl who was named 'frog' for some reason certainly seems to fit the bill - tall with long legs, and boundless energy. she sees the new girl as she moves over there as she plops down on the bench. "Hiya!" she states. "I'm Kaeru!" She extends her hand (her fingernails are all dirty as if she was playing in the mud earlier and didn't quite scrub them clean). There's also a blue frog on her shoulder but almost nobody can actually see it - only magical people can.

Nicola Esprit has posed:
While currently without access to her Device, Nicola is magical. She also has no clue why frogs on shoulders would be weird, so it doesn't get a comment regardless. "Hi Kaeru-san, I am Nicola Esprit. I transfered into class 3C recently." She's got a pretty strong accent, and she's speaking a little slow like she has to think about what words she's supposed to use. "Nice to meet you."

Kaeru Aokawa has posed:
Kaeru Aokawa smiles. "4-A for me," she states. "You looked lonely all by yourself - you're that new kid, right?" she asks. She tilts her head as the frog is gazing at you but stays quiet for now. "And... can I ask where you're from? Your accent is really cool."

Nicola Esprit has posed:
"My cousin and I are new, yes." Nicola answers the first question, and attempts to dodge answering the latter. "Our Japanese isn't very good yet, so please forgive us if we make a mistake." She looks at the frog, and reaches out to pet it, "I didn't know they allowed pets at school."

Kaeru Aokawa has posed:
Kaeru Aokawa nods. "That's fine." She then blinks. "You... you can see it?" she whispers softly. "That's cool... other than my circle of friends I wasn't sure anyone else could." She smiles softly. "It's... it's magical," she cooooos softly. "I often have one around with me at recess - but try to make them not appear during class - for the croaking can be distracting."

Nicola Esprit has posed:
Well there goes another attempt at not standing out. "Huh. Weird." Nicola pulls back from the frog, seeming a little wary about the idea of touching anything magical for some reason. "I need to make more friends, I think. Do you think I should make more friends?"

Kaeru Aokawa has posed:
Kaeru Aokawa nods. "Of course! Everyone needs more friends..." she chirps. "I'll be your friend. After school I was going to go over and play by the pond. Would you like to join me?" She gazes at you curiously, the blue frog disappearing.

Nicola Esprit has posed:
"I'd have to ask Jessamine." Nicola sounds like she feels the answer is likely to be no. "But if she says yes, then I'd love to." She smiles, looking at where the frog just was, then back up at the girl she's talking to. "How old are you, Kaeru-san?"

Kaeru Aokawa has posed:
Kaeru Aokawa smiles. "I'm ten," she states. "I'm just really tall for my age. And... who's Jessamine? You mean you have to clear your friends through her, or do you have other plans?"

Nicola Esprit has posed:
"Jessamine is, uh..." Nicola seems to be unsure what to call the woman, but eventually settles on, "I think the word is my guardian? She's really strict." The girl seems to be a little unhappy about something concerning the situation, but not enough to actually complain. "And we're supposed to go straight home after school."

Kaeru Aokawa has posed:
Kaeru Aokawa nods. "Ah. Maybe I can go home with you to meet her. I'm sure that she would like to meet one of your new friends in this school? The pond can wait... it'd be a hsame if you were here all lonely and stuff..."

Nicola Esprit has posed:
"I'd have to ask about that, too, I don't know if I'm allowed to take friends home." Nicola doesn't seem put off by that or anything, she just sounds like she doesn't want to anger Jessamine. Or at least, not accidentally. "But we can hang out until recess is over, at least."

Kaeru Aokawa has posed:
Kaeru Aokawa bilnks. "Oh..." she states. "I hope she lightens up a bit - my dad was a bit strict but him and Mom got a divorce several years ago and I live iwth Mom - we have similar interests. She's a herpetologist and I wanna grow up to be one too," she cooos.

Nicola Esprit has posed:
"It's fine, really." Nicola insists, smiling when she says that, "I think I'd like to be a chemist." She then pauses, and asks, "What's a herpe-- erpeti-- whatever you just said?" She stumbles over the word, emphasizing her foreignness just a little more.

Kaeru Aokawa has posed:
Kaeru Aokawa smiles. "A scientist who studies amphibians or lizards. My Mom studies frogs - their habitats, where they live, adn stuff. During breaks, I often go with her to remote areas tomake sure everything's ok with our ribbiting friends." She murmurs, "I know that's a big word for anyone but I've been hearing it all my life so I'm good at saying it."

Nicola Esprit has posed:
"Oh, that's neat." And Nicola sounds like she means it, smiling brightly. "She sounds like a nice person, and smart too." The girl opens up her lunchbox, it's a fairly typical seeming bento, and starts to get some eating in.

Kaeru Aokawa has posed:
Kaeru Aokawa opens up her lunchbox - sushi and other seafoods. And some homemade gummies that look oddly likes purple flies. She pops a sushi roll in her mouth as she starts buzzing one of the flies around, then pops it in her mouth too after she was done chewing the roll. "Yum."

Nicola Esprit has posed:
Nicola eats fairly quickly and methodically, like she's used to having to get her meals in quickly before moving on to the next thing. When she's done, the box has been thoroughly emptied of foot, "Do you have a lot of friends?"

Kaeru Aokawa has posed:
Kaeru Aokawa finishes hers as well as she offers you a gummy fly. "Mom makes these as a joke - she liles to call me 'her little tadpole'," she muses. "Well - recess is almost over - want to climb the monkey bars or something?"

Nicola Esprit has posed:
It seems Nicola is thinking about that, looking at the monkey bars warily. "What if I fall off, wouldn't I get hurt?" It doesn't seem like she's used to playgrounds, what background does this girl have anyway?

Kaeru Aokawa has posed:
Kaeru Aokawa blinks. "Oh... ummmmm.... hmmmmm. Maybe the jungle gym would be safer or... oh, I know!" Seh goes over to the seesaw. "Sit there," she states, gesturing to one end. She goes to the other and waits for you to climb on board, and then she'll pop on the other end. "The basic idea is that when your side is down, you kick your legs down to elevate your half, then you'll go up, I'll go down and I'll kick my legs then to reverse it - we'll go back and forth..."

Nicola Esprit has posed:
Nicola climbs on the seasaw, and follows instructions, kicking herself up first, and then waiting for Kaeru to do the same, etc. "This is kind of fun." She says softly, it does seem new to her, "Are these things common here?" She really doesn't sound like she's seen one before.

Kaeru Aokawa has posed:
Kaeru Aokawa blinks. "Of course!" she chirps. "This is a typical playground - most schools around have a playground like this and there's even a few in nearby parks..."

Nicola Esprit has posed:
"Oh..." Nicola seems a little put down by that, but she keeps going. She's having fun, after all. "I can see why they'd make these common." She smiles, going back to enjoying the thing she's doing. She's definitely clueless about some things.

Kaeru Aokawa has posed:
Kaeru Aokawa is wondering what Nicola is all about, but she decides to just treat her as another friend as the two use the seesaw till the bell rings. "Oh - time's up, I guess. Maybe we can meet again later - ask your guardian if I could come over sometime, k?"

Nicola Esprit has posed:
"I will!" Nicola promises in return, getting off the seesaw, and then heading back towards the school building, and class. "It was nice to meet you, Kaeru-san. I hope we can meet again." And then she speeds up, apparently she doesn't want to be late.

Kaeru Aokawa has posed:
Kaeru Aokawa nods. "Of course," she states as she hurries along too, her long legs giving her beter acceleration. "See you next recess!" she chirps as she runs up the stairs, almost seeming like she's 'hopping' up the stairs.
