- Sora Hisakata has posed:
Whether she likes it or not, some of Shiniko has started to bleed into Sora. It's nothing too noticeable, and it takes being magical to see it, but shadows grow larger when Sora is nearby, subtly bending their way towards the girl. Sora has noticed this, which is why she's been even more secluded than before; she's not sure who else could notice.
Alas, sometimes, she has to interact with family. Her father has been busy lately, and as a result groceries slipped and the family is out of rice. Thus, with dinner at stake, Sora has been sent to the apartment of Ikiko's family. She knocks on the door, with the sun this low, shadows are getting big.
- Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
Ikiko Hisakata happened to be the one closest to the door when the knock comes, so she's the one who answers the door. "Oh, hey Sora-chan!" she smiles. "What bring you over today?"
So far Ikiko hasn't noticed the shadows; she hadn't been paying attention to the shadows outside, so she doesn't have a reason to note that they're somewhat larger than they had been.
- Ayana has posed:
It is food time everywhere, and since moving in with Ikiko, Ayana has gleefully taken on many of the cooking tasks, learning well from Mama Hisakata all the things she always wanted to learn about how to cook.
"Iki-chaaaan," Ayana calls from the kitchen. "Whoever it is can come in for dinner!" she calls. "I made too much!"
Mama has actually allowed Ayana to do the cooking by herself today, and she's put together a delicious seared salmon in a ginger garlic soy sauce over rice and vegetables.
And when Ayana says she made too much, that generally means she could probably feed the entire Hisakata clan. Woops.
- Sora Hisakata has posed:
Sora has tried her best to stand somewhere her shadow's unusual tendencies won't be noticed easily. She is not sure whether or not Ikiko and Ayana would notice, but she'd rather try to avoid the risk. So, it's easy to miss. "We forgot to buy rice and--" She flinches when hearing Ayana.
Perhaps more importantly, her shadow doesn't quite move with her. It's close, but the movement is excaggarating, and for a brief moment the girl's shadow makes no sense at all. "Tell Ayana it's a kind offer but we just need some rice, please?" How... diplomatic.
- Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
Ikiko Hisakata glances towards the kitchen when Ayana calls, missing the desynchronized nature of Sora's shadow. "It's Sora-chan, and she came over to ask to borrow some rice for her household," Ikiko calls back.
She turns back to her 'cousin. "Are you sure you don't want to eat with us?" Ikiko inquires. "We could even send a couple of full bento boxes so you could share it with the rest of your family!"
- Ayana has posed:
"Heyyyyyy?!" Ayana asks, a little growl in her tone. A moment later, the kitsune emerges from the kitchen in an apron, skirt, and tank top, four tails lashing behind her, and her ears folded back in irritation. In one arm she has a thing of rice, and in the other a metal spatchuala, which she points at the doorway accusingly.
"You!" she yells at Sora as she stomps towards her. "You and I need to talk," she notes angrily. "Mama we'll be right back, please check on the rice!" she calls, then grabs Ikiko and drags her outside, then rounds on Sora.
"Why did you tell Lacrima-san that I am a trickster!" she asks, waving that spatula a bit dangerously. "That was really mean! She almost didn't trust me to help her!"
- Sora Hisakata has posed:
"Pretty sure, yeah. I appreciate it, though." Sora answers Ikiko right before Ayana comes out and starts demanding answers. "Who?" Sora bluffs, standing very still, trying not to show irritation. Of course, it might not help that her shadow is flipping Ayana the bird. Not at all.
- Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
Ikiko Hisakata looks from Ayana to Sora and back at Ayana, not interrupting the kitsune as she calls out Sora and her insult-flipping shadow--
--wait, what?
Ikiko does a bit of a doubletake, but Sora's shadow has (for the moment) gone back to being aligned with Sora's actual actions. Ikiko rubs her eyes for a moment, then eyes her cousin's shadow warily.
- Ayana has posed:
"Lacrima!" Ayana says again, wagging the spatula. "She's a vampire! And she's draining people for energy, and I am trying to help her learn not to hurt people, and you told her I'm a trickster!"
Red in the face, Ayana says, "I thought you understood! I thought you weren't going to be mean about this anymore! Why'd you tell her that?!"
- Sora Hisakata has posed:
"... I think I may know who you're talking about. I also told her she should give you a chance regardless." Sora shrugs, her shadow back to behaving itself for the moment. "You /agreed/ you are a trickster. You just disagreed with whether or not you would trick people even if you really shouldn't."
Sora sighs. "Look, I wasn't even sure it was you. She just said 'fox girl' and for all I knew it could've been a wild fox instead of you." Progress: She's not equating Ayana with wild foxes. Her shadow turns it head sideways to stare at Ikiko's.
- Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
Ikiko Hisakata leans over and gives Ayana a one-armed hug around the shoulders, but keeps her eyes on Sora's shadow. And when the shadow stares at her, she walks around her cousin to stare at it right back.
"Sora-chan, have you been feeling alright lately?" Ikiko asks her cousin, still watching the shadow. "Or have you been feeling... I dunno, somewhat detached from yourself, or the like?"
- Ayana has posed:
"W...well ..." Ayana starts to protest, but Ikiko's arm around her calms the fox, and her ears perk up almost immediately. She blushes and looks away. "I ... I guess I did say that," she says quietly. "But she almost didn't trust me," Ayana whines, then turns back to Sora. "And I can help her. I know what she's facing. So ... So please don't call me a trickster to people. They will take it the wrong way."
Then she sighs and bows, before offering the bag of rice. "Here," she suggests. And it's then that she notices the odd movements of the shadow. "W...wha? Sora-chan, your shadow is not doing what you're doing."
- Sora Hisakata has posed:
"I'll try to avoid giving people the wrong impression." Sora promises. Then, just a moment too late, Sora's shadow behaves itself again. She raises an eyebrow, "My shadow is not doing what I'm doing? What are you on about?" She asks, pretending she has no clue what's going on. "And I've been feeling fine, Icky-chan."
- Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
Ikiko Hisakata gives Ayana a glance of puzzled confirmation, then carefully hops across Sora's shadow, making sure to not actually step on it. She gives her own shadow a quick look-over -- whew, nothing unusual spotted -- then looks at Sora's shadow again with a frown.
"If you say so," Ikiko replies to her cousin with a shrug. "The offer of spare food still stands -- we'll undoubtedly still have plenty tomorrow, if you or your family happen to be interested, or we could send some along tonight. Just keep it in mind, and mention it to your family."
- Ayana has posed:
"Thank you," Ayana says, still holding out the rice for Sora. "Also, I really did make a lot of extra fish and vegetables, so please consider coming back to have some. I don't want it to go to waste and it's really good and I don't think I can eat it all." There's an implication that she's going to try anyways.
- Sora Hisakata has posed:
Sora looks at Ikiko's antics, with an annoyed look on her face. "I don't know what trick you two are playing, but I don't appreciate it. Stop it." She folds her arms, and then promises. "I'll tell my parents about it, if they want it, one of us will come pick it up. Until then, I just need the rice." She reaches out to grab the bag of rice out of Ayana's hand.
- Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
"Definitely not in one sitting," Ikiko remarks to Ayana with a slight giggle and a kiss on the cheek. Her only response to Sora's accusation is to glance at the shadow again and give her cousin a slight shrug. "I hope you and your family enjoy your dinner!" she smiles.
- Ayana has posed:
"Yes! Enjoy your dinner," Ayana agrees to Ikiko, straightening once the rice is no longer in hand. She reaches out to grab Ikiko's hand, then smiles at Sora. Then, her nose twitches. "Ah! I don't think mama heard me!" she says, then rushes in through the door to go check on her rice.
- Sora Hisakata has posed:
With the bag of rice in her hand, Sora turns around and walks. "Thanks." Her shadow doesn't, her shadow stays right there for a moment, points at Ayana and then makes a gesture that seems to involve drawing a finger across her own neck. Only when Sora is about to leave the physical boundaries of her own shadow does it snap back into place.
- Ikiko Hisakata has posed:
Ikiko Hisakata narrows her eyes at the shadow's threat. "Go sit on a spotlight and shine yourself, shadow-baka," she mutters, growling quietly enough so that her cousin doesn't hear. There is no way that Ikiko is going to let a threat to her girlfriend go unacknowledged!
Her angry frown softens into worry as she watches her cousin head off. "Sora-chan, what have you gotten yourself into?" she whispers, then heads back into the house to help set the table.
