1312/Barrier Ballet

Barrier Ballet

Location:	Uminari City - Shopping Strip
Synopsis:	A giant ballet dancing youma causes the the awakening of Barrier Jacket as well as the making of a few friends.

Rena Sakai has posed:
Oh what a lovely day it would be. If only it would stop raining. That of course doesn't stop Rena from being out and about. The rain is nice. Sure its a little chilly but hey, its spring and rain in spring is always great. So happily she goes along. She happens to be singing as she goes, making her way down the Shopping Strip. Why here? Well where else can she find some more interest ingredients for her baked goods! Already she's found some mangos and a pineapples.

Floating along with her is a rather cute, stuffed animal that resembles a sort of bear or something? Its at least wearing a tophat and is cream colored. "Why are we out running around in the rain! It gets all over me and I get all wet. I wanna be at home tinkering! This is boring. Rena! Are you even listening! This isn't fair!" The fairy gripes.

"Dabble, really? You know why we are out. I wanna try different things! I can't just do chocolate chip cookies all the time. Maybe pinapple Mango shortbread cookies will be yummy!" Rena responds. With a smile she starts singing a little song as they go walking.

Chloe Stingray has posed:
    Despite the rain that is pouring down, and a few of her friends are doing a bit of shopping. having been by a trinket shop already, one of them, by the name of Chloe, happens to be looking at a necklace that she just got. "It's really pretty Chloe." Says a blonde girl next to her as they huddle under umbrellas. "Thanks Cathy. Can't believe this thing caught my eye so readily." She giggles as she lets it drop to her chest.

"At least you're not talking to yourself." Another girl says as she watches Reana walk up. "Don't Shizuka. She might be insecure about herself and not have any friends to talk to...like you." the girl blushes and nods to Chloe. "You're right Chloe. I'm sorry." Chloe shakes her head. "Don't apologize to me......just don't do it again, Shizuka."

Hoshi Kogane has posed:
There's a ten year old girl walking in the rain, holding an umbrella. She's accompanied by a floating yellow star holding its own umbrella. She doesn't seem to really care about or for the weather. To her, it just is, at least for the time being.

Then she spots Rena, "Sakai-san~" She greets cheerfully, walking over just when she overhears Chloe's friends, and diverts her way there. Folding her arms, "You know, if you're going to say mean things about people, do it their face instead of being a petty little coward who says it to her friends just loud enough to be overheard."

Rena Sakai has posed:
Rena did hear the words from the girl with Chloe. She is unphased by it. After all its better for them to think she's crazy then for them to know the truth and to actually have to worry about things. She does turn around though and give a smile, "Hiya! Would you all like some cookies? I made them this morning." She exclaims in a rather happy tone. Its her way after all.

Dabble on the other hand rolls her eyes, "How rude! You shouldn't try to be friends with people like that! They will just talk behind your back. You got more important things to worry about." The fairy crosses her arms in front of her. That is about the point where Hoshi approaches.

"Hey Kogane-San. How are you today? Would you and your friend like some cookies? I got plenty." She smiles a little bit. She winces a little as Hoshi snaps at the rather rude girl. She simply smiles, "Its okay. Better that then for people to know the truth right?"

Then she turns and looks up at Dabble. "I can't do that. It goes against who I am and I am not about to be another cog in one of Craft's machines."

Chloe Stingray has posed:
    The blonde with the group, known as Cathy, glared at Shizuka, but Chloe put a hand on Cathy's shoulder. "it's not worth it, Cathy. Shizuka knows the place better than we do so far." That's when a black haired girl, named Jacqui, throws her arms around the both of them. "Come on now. No need to be whispering about.....COOKIES!" and Jacqui takes off like a shot, not realizing she's dragging two flailing girls along with her. She takes one, and gives Shizuka one....after dropping Cathy and Chloe onto the ground with swirly eyes.

Cathy slowly gets up, with Chloe right after, but then something peculiar happens.

Chloe looks right at Dabble....and tilts her head. "That's weird...." She says softly, as shizuka softly takes a cookie and mumbles an apology to Rena. Chloe reaches forward to poke at the teddy bear before she shakes her head. "I need more sleep." She says before she stands up and takes a cookie. "Thank you. Cathy and I are new to the area....transfer students. Sorry for my friend. Sometimes she doesn't think before she talks." She then looks to Hoshi.

Hoshi Kogane has posed:
"Then she should learn to." Hoshi doesn't seem especially mollified, but at least she doesn't press the point beyond that. Another star pops into being right next to her head, like Dabble invisible except to those who can perceive magic. It's wearing glasses and standing behind a lectern, shaking its fist at the girl who spoke poorly about Rena.

"Sakai-san, do you have some of your delicious cookies for me, too?" She asks, sounding like she hopes very much the answer is yes. She looks at Chloe reach out for Dabble, "Nice to meet you, Mahou-san. This is Rena Sakai, and I am Hoshi Kogane. Nice to meet you."

Rena Sakai has posed:
Where Hoshi addresses Chloe as a Mahou, Rena does not. She simply gives a little wink to Chloe and goes open her bag. It only takes her a moment before she is giving out baggies full of cookies. All the girls are given some, including Hoshi. "Of course Kogane-san, I have plenty of them. I also have a several pieces of blueberry coffee cake in here too." She giggles softly.

"A pleasure to meet you all. As Kogane-san so finely put it, I'm Rena. I am an aspiring baker. I was just looking for all sorts of yummy ingredients that I can put into cookies and stuff. I found some Mango and some Pineapple. Maybe those will make some yummy cookies!"

Meanwhile, Dabble rolls her eyes at Chloe, "I'm alive if that is what you're trying to figure out miss. I'm Dabble. I am a fairy from another world. Don't worry, your friends can't hear me." She smiles and tips her hat.

Chloe Stingray has posed:
    "What's wrong Chloe?" Cathy says after she gets a cookie. thankfully, Shizuka and Jacqui are moved far enough away from the group to not hear the 'mahou-san' from Hoshi. "A talking teddy bear." Chloe says before she stands up and she rubs her face. Cathy sighs and pats Chloe's shoulder. "You did say you've been seeing strange things around here, Chloe." She says softly as Chloe smiles to Dabble. "Nice to meet you, either way, Dabble." She doesn't say it too loud, but Cathy looks at her strangely. "Well, at least you're nice, Miss Sekai. Thank you for the cookies." Chloe smiles as Cathy moves off as well, but she doesn't ask what a mahou-san is. "A pleasure to meet you as well, Miss Kogane. I just wish Shizuka didn't talk about people behind other people's backs." She then smirks at the star floating over Hoshi's head. "Yeah, I feel that way sometimes too."

Hoshi Kogane has posed:
"Chloe-san, right?" Hoshi asks to confirm, forced to guess by a lack of proper introductions. "Do you have a surname?" There's a look on Hoshi's face that suggests having to be this direct about asking for a name is frustrating to her, like she doesn't feel comfortable being this direct.

Rena's cookies do a good job of easing her tenseness, and she takes a big nom out of them. The star that holds an umbrella takes out its own, yellow, cookie and takes a bite out of that. "So good, Sakai-san." She looks at Dabble, "Dabble-san, why are you always so mean to Sakai-san?"

Rena Sakai has posed:
Dabble cants her head, "I'm not mean! I just am worried is all. She has a big responsibility and she shouldn't be worrying about what rude people think. I'm looking out for like she looked out for me!" She states as she suddenly has a few tools out and is working on something or other.

"Maybe thats why the Gearwork Sentinels failed?" Rena thinks aloud. Those words though are very sharp and Dabble goes wide eyes. She frowns and just slowly continues working.

Not far away the sky grows darker. Something is going on. An unnatural crackle of lightning strikes several times in fast succession. The weird storm stays localized over the area. People begin heading into stores, avoiding the suddenly inclement weather.

Rena shutters and looks around. "Dabble-chan, I'm sorry. Do you feel this too?"

Dabble seems to tremble as well, "Something is really wrong."

Chloe Stingray has posed:
    Chloe lets out a sigh as she finishes her cookie. "ShiZuka comes from a really wealthy household. She tends to not mind her manners since the people that work for her father don't correct her. Cathy, Jacqui and I are her only friends because we try to help her out. We're also the only ones that really stood upt o her bullying. We're trying a softer approach since she's pretty sensitive.

That's when Chloe notices the storm too, and she blinks. "That....storm really is localized, isn't it?" She says as she turns to leave. "Cathy, let's get everyone in the shop, okay?" Cathy, noticed her voice....immediately complies and tries to convince the others to head into a shop. Unfortunately, Shizuka's fascinated with lightning storms, and isn't afraid.

Hoshi Kogane has posed:
"Tsk. New money, I guess?" Hoshi asks, and the girl's speech so far has marked the kind of upper class identifier that's associated with money that's truly venerable. It's also clear that there's a certain assumption that if she were old money, she'd know better.

She doesn't seem to attach much more to it, though, especially when she has a sudden cramp. "Definitely something wrong." She mentions, and takes a moment to find a place to get out of sight. Once there, "Chroma Prism Yellow! Transform!" A flash of yellow light, from that direction, and a bit later Prism Keeper Yellow comes out.

Rena Sakai has posed:
More lightning crackles as the storm intensifies. A soft rumble in the ground signifies that something is going on. "I think we need to get ready. There is something nasty coming our way and I don't think its going to give us cookies." Rena comments as she looks to Dabble. Dabble just nods to her. Its time to go to work.

Rena steps back and moves her arm up. The very expensive looking watch on her wrist is quickly wound. "AETHER SPIRIT, SHINE!" Dabble quickly flies down and places a face on the watch. Immediately flames dance around the girl as a display of clockwork ticks around her. Her clothing is quickly changed becoming much more steampunkish in style. On her head appears a pair of goggles. A short cut victorian top appears over her leaving her belly exposed. A corset cinches her waist. A skirt appears on her lower body with a belt around it which contains a cog buckle. All in orange and brown. A pair of yellow tights cling to her legs and brown wrap boots on her feet. "The fires which melt the coldest heart, Steam Sentinel Joy!"

The lightshow ends and Joy stands there ready to go! "Lets do this!"

Suddenly the source of the rumbling and lightning slowly comes walking out. Its big. Big and nasty. A dark dressed ballerina youma begins dancing. Twirling. Sending what looks like glitter everywhere. "Dance. Dance DANCE!" She screams out as anyone close to her who happens to be in that poof of glitter begins dancing as well, unable to stop.

Chloe Stingray has posed:
    Chloe winces as Rena and Hoshi do the smart thing and run for it. "I am......officially freaked out." She says before she notices Shizuka still standing there, NOW frozen on the spot because of the youma. Chloe's pretty rooted to the spot too, at least until Steam Sentinel Joy returns. Awfully convinent, but Chloe can't put 2 and 2 together, since she's a little freaked out. "SHIZUKA! WHAT'RE YOU DOING!?" She yells and runs over to Shizuka to attempt to drag her into a nearby shop. Thankfully, she was too enraptured by the storm for her, as well as Cathy and jacqui, to see Rena and Hoshi Henshin.

Not the case now, as Cathy, Jacqui and CHloe are now dragging the poor girl into a shop.....and slowly. It seems Shizuka wants to stay and 'watch the pretty lights'.

Hoshi Kogane has posed:
Yellow looks at the weird Youma, and doesn't quite pay attention to Chloe and co. Instead she focuses on Joy, "Let's get going!" She smiles, and then points her wand at the floating dancing youma; her own butterflu wings taking her up to the sky. She sends a trio of little yellow stars going, each attempting to splash into the youma with purifying colour energy.

Rena Sakai has posed:
The Ballerina Youma twirls out of the way, dodging inbound attacks! Turns out she is rather light on her feet, which given that she is a ballerina, is pretty normal. She moves closer to Shizuka. "Balla says DANCE!" More of that sparkling dark magic goes flying and coats the girl and by proxy Chloe too.

Joy smiles, "Right!" She take off, launching herself up and onto a nearby building. Then to another one. She is moving closer but is definitely doing her own little dance towards the Youma. She gets into postion to do an attack of her own.

Her arms move in a circle and then she points two fingers at the Ballerina. "BLAZING HEART BEAM!" Quickly she forms a heart with her hands over her chest. And then she opens her arms. A beam of burning hearts goes flying from her chest towards the youma. It of course dances out of the way of her too.

As the The heart beam fizzles Joy shakes her head, "We're going to have to wear her down."

Chloe Stingray has posed:
    Cathy falls as she trips on the sidewalk, and Chloe and Jacqui manage to get Shizuka into a shop. The ballerina bears down on Cathy, and fires it's darkness glitter at her. Chloe, not even thinking of her own safety, runs for her friend and slides to a stop in front of her. " NOOOOOOOO!!!!! " She cries out.

And the glitter hits a magical barrier that is as solid as any wall of a building.

Chloe lowers her eyes to see that her necklace is floating in front of her, and the barrier has turned around her. BLAZING SOUL. SETTING UP.

"Chloe?" Cathy says softly. "Get in the shop Cathy. I won't let it hurt you!" Cathy runs for the shop as Chloe's clothes change into a long red jacket, and she has black gloves with long boots and black pants, and she does not look pleased. The device changes into a long spear itself, but changes form as soon as Chloe grasps it. "You shouldn't have attacked my friends....." And one swing of the now scythe form send a red crescent of energy at the youma....

Hoshi Kogane has posed:
And right about then is when Yellow senses another, unrelated threat elsewhere. "I notice something else. Can you.. uh... two handle this while I take care of that?" She asks, and without waiting for a response flies off into the distance, trusting Joy and Chloe to handle the matter.

Rena Sakai has posed:
The Ballerina spins a bit more before stopping and glarring between the Barrier Jacket and the Sentinel. "Balla no like you. You no dance! DANCE YOU DANCE!!" Several blasts of that sparkling dark magic are launched towards both of the girls. Its More intense. She is definitely looking to force the girls to dance her dance.

Joy nods to Yellow, "I... Err... We can handle things heeerroh crap!" She springs out of the way, dodging the attack. "That wasn't very nice miss Balleryouma! You're so getting beat for that one!" She springs down and unleashes a barrage of fistycuffs. Its clear she really doesn't know how to fight but she does have some serious force behind her attacks so, even a horribly thrown punch is hitting exceptionally hard.

Chloe Stingray has posed:
    Chloe winces as she sees the attack coming. A voice comes from the device saying "FLY", before she's lited into the air above the blast. Chloe had closed her eyes before the attack hit her, but once she opened them, she jumps.....then looks at her shoulders. "That's....convinent...." She says in surprise before she looks to the youma, and the Sentinel attacking it with her fists. "I do hope this works." She says pointing the staff at the back of the youma....and the staff reconfigures itself.

"Shooting Form", It says.

"FIRE BOLT!" She yells. A small red fireball streaks from the staff to attempt to hit the Youma in the back.

Rena Sakai has posed:
As Joy hears what is being yelled by Chloe, she quickly gets out of the way. The last thing she needs is to be seared to perfection.

The youma is blindsided and catches the fireball. in the back. The combined efforts of both of the punching and the blasting definitely slows her down. She begins spinning again throwing out more of that wicked sparkly magic.

"I've had about enough of this one. Blazing Heart Attack!" She quickly forms the heart shape with her hands and opens her arms wide. A burning blast of fiery hearts goes flying at the youma, slamming it with intense heat. It is definitely a powerful attack and one designed for something that is far more armored then the ballerina youma. "Do you have anything that can purify? I do if you don't!"

Chloe Stingray has posed:
    Chloe flies closer as the Sentinel hits it with a fairly large attack. Once the question is asked, Chloe looks to Joy and shrugs. "I don't know. I didn't even know I could do this."

"She does." The device says before it reconfigures itself into a new form, which looks like a Spear. "Purification Form." It says.

Chloe just.....shakes her head as the 'blades' glow red. "Here goes." She says as she swoops down and attempts to lance the Youma right in the chest.

Rena Sakai has posed:
Joy nods and watches Chloe attack. She then gets ready herself. Two purifying attacks are better then one right?" She quickly takes a strong stance as she prepares herself. Her arms cross in front of her and her right hand uncrosses, moving into a big circle and then reaches out, openhanded toward the Youma. "STEAM SENTINEL, CLOCKWORK SPIRIT BLAST!" Her whole body ignites with glowing white energy and moves towards her hand. What comes blasting out, is fiery and very pure energy. It goes sailing at the Youma hitting it like a truck!

The Youma has no chance at this point. It continues to spin even as it's lanced and blasted. The whole thing spins out of control until it turns into a nothing but violet smoke. Something falls to the ground. All that is left of the youma is a simple little doll in a ballerina pose.

Joy gives a smirk, "And that is how we end this dance!" Its true, the people under the effect of the youma are now stopping and resting. They have no idea what just happened save for that they were likely part of a flash mob.

Joy steps closer to Chloe, "I'm guessing this hasn't happened much for you before? I'm afraid I dunno much about the whole Jacket thing. I'm sorta new to this all myself. I'm Joy. A Steam Sentinel who sorta has two worlds to worry about." She giggles a little. Up on her shoulder, a familiar fairy pops up, She is waving a little flag with a clock on it reading Steam Sentinels, 'Yay Joy!'

Chloe Stingray has posed:
    CHloe looks at the doll, after Joy purifys it as well. "Strange that something so small can cause so much trouble." She says as the device goes back into it's default spear mode. But Chloe looks to the familiar fairy and smiles a bit. "Mmm....It's good to see others willing to defend friends. Though I don't have a 'codename' myself." She looks at the spear. "And....this is the first time this has ever happened to me. I'm from america, as is one of my friends. So, I don't know what it is with the jacket myself, but I think I'm going to have to ask this......device a few questions."

"Blazing Soul" The device answers.

"Blazing Soul then. I'll have to ask it a few questions about what it can do." Chloe says looking to Joy, then to the familiar fairy. "Thank you....." She says with a smile.

Rena Sakai has posed:
Joy smiles happily, "Steam Sentinels are fueled by they way they are. Being true to themselves. When I change, it reflects my true self. I am usually very joyful so I became Joy. Sadly I don't think there are any others yet. I wish there were, It gets lonely being the only one. I umm, maybe I can see if any of my friends know anything about Jacket wearing Mahou."

The strawberry blonde Sentinel smiles and quickly writes down her phone number, "Here you go. Give me a call if you ever need anything or if you just wanna talk. I'll help as much as I can. Besides, We're friends and that means helping out right?"

Chloe Stingray has posed:
    "Yeah. As you saw, if who I think you are is correct, then you see I defend my friends with my life." Chloe says softly as she puts her phone away. "I'll give you my number as well, and....with that level of trust there, let me know if you need any help, Joy." She then smiles to her. "if you can find out any information, I would be grateful. Thank you."

Rena Sakai has posed:
Joy smiles, "When I first changed, It was because my bestie was turned into a into a mechanical monster called a cog. They are nasty. This guy, Craft.... He was after Dabble. You see the fairies on the planet Gearwork created these watches. When someone is found whose true in spirit, the watch with activate and start ticking. It allows them to become Steam Sentinels. Craft is part of this big nasty organization who basically took over Gearwork and are destroying it. Craft belongs to that organization. He chased Dabble here and turned my friend into a monster. Dabble ran into me and the watch started ticking. She slapped it on my wrist and suddenly, I was this. My friend is okay now. It was just really weird."

Chloe Stingray has posed:
    "Turning them into cogs?" Chloe says as she starts to walk towards another area, so people don't get too suspicious, and the police aren't called since she's carrying a weapon. "Are they fully bipedal monsters or are they literally cogs? Because if they become actual cogs, it sounds like they could become part of a larger machine." She then looks towards Dabble. "Well....tell you what, Dabble, if I can help protect you too, let me know. Okay? What're friends for, after all?"

Rena Sakai has posed:
Joy takes a deep breath, "Okay. A cog is a dark form of magic. When a person lets themselves become what they aren't. Think like, a person who goes and they do all they can to blend in. They forget who they are just to fit in. When this organization finds someone like that, they put a cog on their head. That cog draws out everything they. It becomes an energy source and they are made part of a machine. I've only seen one so far thankfully."

Dabble gives a smile. She floats closer to Chloe and gives her a hug. "Thank you!"

Chloe Stingray has posed:
    Chloe looks thoughtful. "So the next time we see one of these things, we destroy the cog, and they return to normal. Makes sense I think. Especially if it draws out everything they are. Though, the drawback would have to be done in an experiment, which sucks cuz it would means the next victim would be a guinea pig. If we destroy the cog, will it return their 'essence'? or will their 'Essence' disperse, leaving them a husk?" She then looks to Joy. "Sound like a plan?"

Rena Sakai has posed:
Steam Sentinel Joy frowns, "They are tough. They will need weakened and then purified. Its the only way to break their true spirit from the cog. If you see one, Odds are craft is nearby. Unless more of them have arrived here. If you can get ahold of me, please do. That guy is dangerous."

Chloe Stingray has posed:
    "Right." Chloe says softly, before looking back towards the shop, and walks her way down an alley. "How about we blend back in with the crowd now, hmm?" She says lightly. As her jacket begins to disappear and the device turns back into a necklace. "And I'll get a hold of you if I see a youma, regardless of type."

Rena Sakai has posed:
Joy smiles and winks. Fire errupts at her feet and and rises up over her, leaving behind Rena. She giggles playfully, "I will never get over how that feels." She giggles again. "Okay I should get going. I don't want my parents to worry and if you ever wanna hang out, let me know!" She beams.

Chloe Stingray has posed:
    Chloe holds up the phone and smiles. "Definitely. I'm Chloe Stingray, by the way. Cathy is the one I protected, jacqui is the enthusiastic one, and SHizuka is the 'rude one'." She then waves to Rena, giving Dabble a parting hug. "Call me anytime, Rena...." She says heading towards the sidewalk to meet her friends.....
